EVERYBODY WHO'S ANYBODY IN FOLK, THE 60'S MY FAVORITE PART OF LIFE
In 1957 I was in love with the music of the Kingston Trio! Was over joyed to find them again in The Villages, Fl. Took me right back 60 years ago when I was young and yet to find love.
2023: the musicians age and pass on, but the beauty of their music lives forever
Yes
At age 83, this best describes life. I have been fortunate to see all of our children graduate from high school and college, get married and see eight grandchildren. My father died young of a heart attack and never saw these joys.
Wow! What a TREAT! There is just nothing better to soothe a troubled heart with than some kind hearted folk music with more stars than the Milky Way.
Damn lucky Tom Paxton. He had his arms around Mary Travers and Judy Collins!
i think i,m going to play this one over and over again...........
2022..world in chaos am in tears wonderful this uk
The two most outstanding singing voices in this remarkable group of talented people are undoubtedly Judy Collins and Glen Yarborough.
Harry Chapin was only with us for a brief time, but his influence was immense...as was his joy.
All of these singers were/are my favorites, Mary Travers, Judy Collins, Glen Yarborough. Just wonderful memories.
My goodness. Such wonderful memories this brings to mind to this old (77) lady!
“All my life’s a circle.” Oh, wow. Except for Judy and Mary, I didn’t recognize the faces. But once they started, I’ll NEVER forget the voices and the memories of yesteryear just came flooding back. Absolutely outstanding. We’ll never have anything like this again.
Back when music made you happy deep in your soul.
I wish I could like this video more than once, it is beyond heavenly, it is perfection.
I think the audience clapping wiped out Mary Travers wonderful, unique contribution to this great song.
I was disappointed that happened as well. She made a valiant effort to be heard above the applause and almost succeeded. She can really project her voice. When the whole group sang, you could almost pick her voice out over the others.
THAT'S how to sing the song!! Harry would approve!!
This has me crying tears of joy. Sweet memories for an old hippie.
Yes this song was a delight to hear after so many years.
So agree; what a beautiful song and tribute
Amen
I was 3 years-old
"Tears Of Joy"
Amen
Oh God! Me too! Right in front of my family. I couldn’t tell them why I was crying.
What a joy! Now in my eighties, this brought such a smile to my face. The music of my era! The music of my story!
Unbelievable group from my past... thank you for this share. It touched a place in my heart that was long forgotten. 🎼🖤
Watching this program always saddens me for the lost of Mary Travers and Bob Shane they were and have always been my favorites (so was Phil Everly!), beautiful reunion.
RIP John Stewart, Bob Shane, Roger Gambill, Dave Guard (Kingston Trio), Phil Austin & Peter Bergman (Firesign Theatre), Lou Gottlieb & Glenn Yarbrough (Limeliters), Mary Travers & others who may have passed on.
I remember this event and now that I'm older, it means more to me. 🙂
Fantastic those were the days.
Wow, I would love to have been at that concert! What an amazing group of musicians paying tribute to one of the greatest singer songwriter and humanitarians of our time! We miss you Harry but are better for your having been here!
Lovely gathering, a happy time but my heart sinks every time i watch this
concert as three of our favorites have left us; Mary, Bob and the other trio, forgot his name (one of my favorites). Wonderful hearing such beautiful repertoire but sad and nostalgic at the same time. miss miss them!
Roger Gambil.
As a musician in my younger days I can assure you that the greatest tribute of respect a fallen musical artist could ever have is when a group of colleagues & peers gather to lay down your music. Thank you Harry for everything you gave this crummy world. I had never heard this song until now. Every single word fits my own crummy life. Godspeed.
Also, notice the thrill in the audience when Mary Travers comes in, sweet and charismatic Mary from Peter, Paul & Mary. This clip made my day.
Unfortunately though, the applause drowned out Mary's contribution to the song.
@@PHJimY She definitely had an aura about her. More than anybody else in the room. However, Judy Collins had a voice that was second to none.
@@PHJimY If you hunt up a copy of Mary's fourth solo record, _Circles_, you can hear her sing the whole song. Why it (and her 3rd LP) have never been released digitally is a mystery to me.
Good lord this is beautiful
That was fantastic! A great collection of truly marvelous voices to help us remember one of Harry Chapin's greats. Don't try to tell me you didn't sing along, because I know you did!!!
You're right, Sandy!
Hearing Mary singing this just melted me.
Loved. All that talent singing such a wonderful son. Kind of like a baby-boomer dream . I'm always so happy when someone post these gems.
We Boomers know great music and great singers when we hear them. These were among the best for us.
I can listen to Glenn and ms. Judy over and over again all day long. God bless them
Thanks for one of my all time favorite songs Harry! From the Cheap Seats! Your concerts will always live on,
Now that's what I call a super-group!
Thank you SOOOOO much for this! What a gathering of talent in one place! How great to see Glenn Yarbrough, Alex Hassilev, and Lou Gottlieb or the Limeliters, the Kingstons, three of the original Brothers Four, and Judy Blue Eyes all at once. What memories!
Beautiful song and so poingnant no matter what era you aspire to sad that our favourites have to leave us as we will also one day but so happy to have lived through their beauty and carry that with us always.
You know this was the inspiration for the final concert of the movie Mighty Wind...Live and Love them both....
This gathering is so wonderful....Judy Collins is my favorite..
Hear the harmony, see the past....thankfully it will roll through ages just like the song
It seems like I've been here before, I can't remember when
But I got this funny feelin' that I'll be back once again
WOW - awesomeness ! R.I.P. Harry Chapin- Happy 73rd Birthday today - what a joy you have been in my life and still are !
Harry Chapiin was a master at putting words to feelings!
Www
Have you ever heard his younger brother Tom? He's as good as Harry was, although he takes a slightly different path for subject matter. He still does the occasional tour, but mostly he sings close to home. And he still does kids' shows also, frequently accompanied by his own, now grown, kids. A wonderful lack of planning by the group that booked him in my town prompted me to ask if he'd like to join me for an early dinner and I'd be happy to lead him back to the airport. We ended up talking mostly about all our kids, and it was a lovely couple of hours. I'm still a groupie.
Harry wrote the same way he lived! I still miss him.
Such loving ambiance then,.....lovely!
I still miss Mary so very much. This clip is fantastic. It was great to hear all these greats like Glen Yarbourough, Judy Collins and, of course, the great Mary Travers.
Wow! So looking forward to seeing 1,000,000 views of this epic group singing Harry Chapin's song. I just love it , as did the appreciative audience.
I am smiling non stop and dedicating this song to my Daddy who passed over in 1991. He taught my little sister and i to sing harmony to the kingston trio and peter paul and mary and so many more. We learned all the great ballads and folk songs then and they are still my favorite to this day.. in 2023. I am his oldest daughter Isabel, i just turned 63. For God's purpose i am the last living Thomas in our family. But in my heart i know they are all with me as i complete my own journey. I love u all and my angels carry to you my prayers, wishes and songs. ....So....
Daddy would sing softly "Scarlet ribbons" to us,* my little sister Karen i* as a lullaby each night at bed time. So glad i could still find it.
Folk music has power.

There will be such a beloved ensemble like this again. The only two that I recognized on-sight were Mary Travers and Judy Collins. All rest got names, with a dropped jaw and an Oh!, as soon as I heard their voices. Just outstanding. Thank you very much!
I'm just discovering this song and I love it. All my favorite singers from the 60's!
Judy Collins voice - amazing. Love it.
So much talent in one room!
Fantastic! It's a beautiful ending of the showtime. this is one of the best American songs forever. Have a good night!
Brought tears to my eyes!
My Favorite Harry Song. Got to Sing with Harry for a Whole.5 Secongs at the Greek Theater just before He Died. Marvelous Memory
Just one more legendary concert produced by the one & only Irving Steinbloom
A great song, which was used (here in Australia), as a backdrop to the disaster of the Munich Olympics in 1972.
A rare gem
Some heavy hitters here. All superstars of the folk world. Wow!
Music is LIFE! Beautiful
The Limeston Four and Mary! Yeah, MAN!
WHAT WONDERFUL SONGS, WHAT WONDERFUL TIMES.
Forty years have passed since this concert was performed. Has it really been that long? Seems like just yesterday. Years gone by and with them the aspirations of our youth.
rip mary travers and harry chapin great
What a collection of singing talent !
Thank you to the dear friend who pointed me to this. We sang it at her and her husband's wedding in '80 or '81.
I just chanced across this video today and was moved by it. All my musical heroes from my youth, my earliest musical inspirations. I was lucky enough to see some of them live....Tom Paxton, Mary Travers, Bob Gibson (who was not in this show), the Kingston Trio 1981 version.
Wonderful music and wonderful singers. A pleasure.
Wow, that really takes me back.. How lucy we were to live back in that olace in time.....
So beautiful..
A great tribute to Harry Chapin.
Fresh load of goosebumps from these fantastic people!
A wonderful tribute to Harry !
Damn Glen Yarborough and Judy Collings and Mary. Wow
Judy Collins, Mary Travers, so many more! Love this video, thanks for posting. To me, the very best part was when Glenn Yarbrough came on and sang a verse. His voice always carries me away.
I havent seen an autoharp since Mrs Ann Weeks played in music class in 68 word up
Judy Collins beautiful knowxas always she is family
Judy Collins and Harry Chapin were good friends.
Bravo!!
So glad to read another Glen Yarborough fan. He certainly is on my shortlist for top five.
Frost time I met Judy Collins in 1965 at folk
Festival gorgeous redhead and played with her son
I remember this song from when I was fourteen years of age, living in Germany with my c mother and father.I actually heard it on one of the German radio stations, rather than the Armed Forces Network.
Mary Travers brought so much joy to millions around the globe. What a voice. What compassion for life and beauty and music. We will miss her but thank the Lord we have her music.
Huh? Did you know Mary? I don’t think so.
Beautiful tribute for a good man.
Oh, to have been there in person...
All I can say is...groovy!
That's a bad ass group of talent!
It great to find an old song that still moves you again
What a concert - performance ! Only regret I didn't see it
Wondeful song ! Thank you my friend !
Great memories,those were the days!
A who's who of 70's folk music. A wonderful treat. Thanks to whoever posted it.
Can't stop crying
I was 39 when this was recorded. Thank you.
that was like a folk music orgasm. Almost every important performer from the early '60's folk scene was there. In my old record archives I still have a dozen or two LP's by most of the musicians on that stage. (Lost the Peter, Paul and Mary albums in the divorce.) When it first came on, I thought it was a clip from "A Mighty Wind".
Bonne toune de groupes d'artistes
Great version. also love The New Seekers version which was a big hit in Europe back in 72
new seekers got title wrong as well
Absolutely outstanding

Glen Yarborough just passed away a couple of days ago at age 86.
What a beautiful voice the World lost that day!
Seabrook the Magnificent u
The most unique pair of vocal chords of the era. Great surprise.
Seabrook the Magnificent what a marvelous voice Glen Yarborough had.
Folk music was my first musical love, bc my Mom would play it on her piano, and we would all sing together as a family. That led me to like The Loving Spoonful.
The beautiful voice of Glenn Yarbrough brought me here ~ RIP Glenn
