The reasons why Angel has the 3 spots under each eye is to represent the other 6 eyes that that spiders have, so I feel like those could’ve stayed and the other spots could’ve gone.
Aren't the 3 spots under each eye nostrils? If you watch the music video for "Slutty Spider Polka" you can see Angel Dust, presumably post-drug inhale, bleeding profusely from 3 of the holes, much like the cliché of people bleeding from the nostril they just snorted coke from.
Maybe do a little research before “fixing” their designs. Alastor should have horns- he’s a deer demon Angel dust is a spider demon (eight eyes) Vaggie’s X is a hint of her past Charlie- ok she’s just Charlie, you basically redrew the design
I feel like I'm the only one who liked Alastors old design, personally it felt at least different and the colour suited him though I could see the complaint that everything is red but the colour for his smile and everything about him was so distinctive I just loved it
@Meppity I think maybe you should have kept alastors skin colour the same as the original design, as I think the greyish colour would have looked smoother on the eyes with the colour palette you used, I’m sorry, it’s just the fact that there are smooth colours such as a reddish orange, a flat dark green and a slightly lighter shade of green , mixed with something like a turquoise, just doesn’t work, I think it would have been better to keep his original skin tone. Sorry, it’s just my opinion ☺️. Beautiful and intelligent work nonetheless 😊
I think his red works, just not with the backgrounds in the show. I don't think the green was the way to go though. Maybe browns, yellows, and some reds. Like his suit would be brown with hints of burgundy/crimson red here and there, red hair would be red with hints of burgundy, and then his teeth, eyes, etc in that creepy yellow. Idk, but because of the backgrounds the red needed to be toned down a little. Def not green though 😂
....Yeahhh I don't like it too much either. I don't feel like some of these designs would belong in the setting of Hazbin Hotel. ( Not trying to be rude, if you like it, that's fine. This is just my opinion.)
This is just my opinion, but I really didn’t like the redesigns. When she said the characters were so stretched and stylized, I was confused, because isn’t that the point? The show is trying to bring back the feel of old Disney cartoons while keeping a more modern and adult vibe. And there is nothing wrong with stylizing characters, I actually like them better. With Vaggie, I think the x’s over her chest are symbolic for sexual assault or something else, and taking them away basically bus taking away a possibly essential part of her character and story, since a lot of the designs in the show are very well planned and thought out, and every little detail means something. Plus, the colors in the redesign were too dull and faded for the intended loud and obnoxious theme of the show.
The point Meppity is making is that ALL of the characters are like that so they all end up looking the same, especially since they all have very same-y color palettes
If im correct vaggie died in 2014, and was killed after being raped due to a hate crime for being a lesbian.. So the x's (on both her chest and eye) is crucial to her character story
@@madisonc1588 if anyone can look me dead in the eye and genuinely tell me, Alastor, Angel, Charlie, and Vaggie even come close to looking the same, then dear God they are blinder then a bat
Imo the original is way better, and saying you "fixed" something when you didn't even consider why the characters are the way they are in the show is pretty darn rude
It's not the consideration of that character and why they were designed that way the point is they didn't create the damn thing they can criticize it all they want but say they're going to fix it it's almost like saying they're going to claim it and act like they made the characters themselves when they didn't it's not fanart what these people are doing is borderline art theft but because they keep saying oh this doesn't belong to me it belongs to this person but clearly their s*** who doesn't know how to draw so I'm going to show you how to do real art get on my level yet I'm pretty sure this b**** doesn't know how to do animation and nothing on vivziepop and her team's level
@Icchan und Ikkun but she obviously doesn't care about the crew who made hazbin Hotel or else you wouldn't be saying this s*** it wasn't even critique it was downright demolishing of a creation without evidence saying the same line I'm not a professional but I think I can fix something that I had no real interest in or any hands in its creation it's just arrogant I don't understand why she cares in the wrong way people like to get on those producers and Hollywood types for taking a piece of medium they know nothing about and try to make something out of it pissing off people who like the original yet you have originality going on and people who are upset about something that happened a long time ago and was nothing egregious are trying to cancel this woman and her project which makes no sense to me and it's insulting to artist who apparently are supposed to just sit back and let these people vent and express themselves when it's very hateful
It’s a hell plot, that’s supposed to be there colors and character designs lots of reds, evil smiles, and those “unnecessary signs” can represent tattoos and other things. They are demons not humans
the x symbolize stuff in there life that are key details about them not tattoos, alastor has one on his head (he hides it well i swear its there) angel doesnt have one cuz he didnt die like a wound but more of a internal thing (drugs) charlie never died or lived on earth and has none ect ect...
@@leoneyamada5408 some people do theorize that Angel dust has his right or left eye black being due to his brother punching him,I don’t really know what to think of that but yeah, sinners do have some marking on them as a symbol as the way they died like you said like imps in a way,how white markings come when ever they are injured there.
How I feel abt the redesigns: Charlie: alright alright. Still the same. Vaggie: looks pretty cute. Angel Dust: alright, not my favorite. Alastor: Look how she massacred my boy.
I'm no artist but I do know this: The reason why most characters have sharp edges and triangular shaped heads is because the triangle shape suits the more evil characteristics. If you look at Charlie, she has a more circular face shape which suits her character and gives off a sweet and cute feel to her! But because this is hell, of course none of the people would be as sweet and cute as Charlie, so circular shapes just won't fit there!
@@roseqore8073 I seriously don't understand this though. When the character silhouettes were all aligned I could tell exactly who they were? And the comparison to that was just wack cause she put the silhouettes of charcters ALL FROM DIFFERENT SHOWS. All of her Vizie's charcters are distinct and different from each other, people have just gone so overboard with their snooty criticism that this is why sjw art and calart happens, and then people criticise THAT which is what they wanted. Nobody is allowed to have a style anymore? They all have different body types no matter what, they all have to have different colour palettes no matter what, they can't be too over the top, the have to be just right, and if your art is damn perfect according to the eyes of a large chunk of the art community, it's broken and needs to be "fixed", I would legitimately feel devastated if someone was so rude and inconsiderate to take my creations, the creations I draw when I'm sad or think about when I'm happy, my creations which are my special interest, charcters I pour my heart and soul into, even loosely based off of myself! And someone looks at them, went and redrew them to only their preferences and likes then handed them back to me, told me they were "fixed" and that my design was shit. People focus so much on physical design they forget the most important part. The personality! The background! The past! The plot! The interactions! We're still in a society where we judge based off of looks, and personality later. It's not the looks that makes a person, it's a factor for sure, initially, but no matter how ugly a character is, if you fall in love with their personality all of that will be forgotten. We so easily disregard a characters whole development based off of how they look and forget about how much they actually mean to the creator, people need to stop being stop, stop right now "fixing" characters, it is the most rude, inconsiderate, unnecessary thing you could ever do.
The X on Vaggie’s eye represents the wound that she died from, which Vivziepop mentioned in one of her streams. The dots on Angel’s face under his eyes are supposed to allude to the fact that his character is based off a spider.
The X thing repsresenting a wound is a good idea, however, why is it only on 1 character, shouldn't it be on every character if it represents a wound they died from, because you know, people in Hell are - *dead* ? And the fact that she explained it on a stream and not in the show gives me a feeling that she put the X in order to make Vaggie pop out more and later came up with that explanation. The dots make no sense since a lot of spiders don't have dots on them, but almost all spiders have 8 or 6 eyes so why put dots to make Angle more spider like if it doesn't help, putting more eyes on the character would have helped in showing that they are a spider
Милош Вишић First of all, Vaggie isn’t the only one with the x. Sometimes you can see alastor with an x on his forehead. The reason why other characters may not have the x because they died of something not wound related, like an overdose. My guess is that the x represents bullet wounds, because a very big guess about alastor’s death is that he was shot by a deer hunter and another popular theory about vaggie’s is that she was sexually assaulted and then shot. For the angel dust thing, the dots are supposed to represent eyes, so idk what you’re trying to get at there
@@organelle5277 Why does Alastor have it only *sometimes* and other times he doesn't? You can't just give a character a trait they sometiems do and sometimes don't, that's just either bad design or lack attention to detail. Dying from causes not related to wounds could still be reptesented with other symbols, and gun violence/war is still a big problem for our world so shouldn't a lot of background charaters have Xs on parts of their bodies? (And about Vaggie, theres also a theory that she got killed in a hate crime by being strangled so yeah in which case the X has no meaning, they're only theories so yeah) They don't look like eyes they look like dots, if the characters had simple dots for eyes in that case the dots would fit but the characters don't and therefor thry don't fit. (For clarity I'm refering to Angels pink dots on the hair, not the ones on the cheeks)
Alastor hair snd feet are like that because he is a deer demon. Also, it seems more like you just dont like her art style. Also, it is probably meant to look chaotic and monotone. They are in a place not exactly meant to be calm, and they are all of the same pattern and clolour scheme to show they arent exactly free to do whatever they want.
I’m not even that big of a fan of the show, but as an artist, seeing someone take another person’s art style and characters while claiming to “fix” them is downright disrespectful. There are some outlines and suggested rules for art, but the beauty of it is that it is up to the creators discretion.
The main thing about Vaggie's X that actually carries significance is that it is potentially her death mark, like how there's a tiny X on Alastor's forehead when he gets angry in the pilot. Presumably, all characters have this somewhere. It shows where or how they died. Like, a bullet to the head would be Alastor's death, it's a small X and a bullet would be most logical. For Vaggie, it could be a stab wound or infection or something along the lines of the eye leading to death. It makes sense to me why she has it and I see people hating it all the time and it baffles me.
I always thought if it as a stab mark because she is able to summon sharp weapons and it’s looks pretty big maybe enough to be a knife or maybe a blade idk
Eclipsingg _ that doesn’t justify that it appears on top of the hair and then down of the hair all the time, it should be more consistent and it shouldn’t look like it’s floating all the time.
@spooky spookington Funny scenario, it confuses me though because people think it takes a lot for a dog to kill someone but it doesnt take a pack of dogs to kill a person. The dog couldve had rabies and in 1833 they have the knowledge we do now about it and the only way back then to save someone from the slow and miserable death cause by rabies was a bullet to the head.
The X on Alastor's head isn't his death mark. It was stated by Vivzie he was mauled to death by dogs. 'X' in voodoo means 'the wish has come true'. Basically, when you make a Voodoo deal, an X should show up on your body to show the deal has been done.
U can't really "fix" a character's design. There's a reason they're design in a certain way. For example: u made Angel's clothing and colour scheme more subtle, but he's supposed to be eye catching, bright and loud for the reason of him being a stripper/sex worker. And u made him look neater, he's a character that's supposed to look slutty and messy because that represents him as whole. He's supposed to be a wreck, a mess. If he weren't, then he wouldn't need to go to the hotel for help of redeeming himself. So ur just basically taking away his purpose as a character. There's more to character's than looking "neat", "tidy" or "too much" for ur liking. They're designed in a way that tells a characteristic or personality trait. Those "details" that u felt were unnecessary WERE necessary because it's only special to that character and that character only. In conclusion, u or anyone else can't "fix" a character's design for the simple reason of that they were meant to be designed that way, and if u don't like it then don't look at it.
It’s obvious she hasn’t watched the pilot, or at least not payed attention enough. She got many things revealed in the pilot wrong. For example, she didn’t know how to pronounce Vaggie, despite her name being said multiple times. She’s just being ignorant
3:34 Uhm, you do realize that those are different artstyles from different shows, also, those are popular characters, well known all around the world, and you're comparing them to Hazbin Hotel, a not so popular show, with a different artsyle. And you're comparing them to a single episode, not even an episode, a pilot.
most importantly, the style of the shows and the ideas behind the characters, all of those characters are the least human look alike designs tbh, which with Hazbin Hotel they are way more humanoid, if they were to design in a more childish style it kinda takes away the point of the show and makes the characters look goofy
I'm pretty sure that Vaggie has only one eye, so the reason the X jumps around and gets manipulated and contorted is because it represents where her eye *used to be,* and where she *would* be currently looking if she still had one there.
You may or may not be right I’m not entirely sure but people have said that Vivzie has said that the X represents how she died like how Alastor has an X on his forehead to represent how he was shot in the head and killed
Azairence Robinson should still be more consistent, I had this problem with Vaggie as well. Seeing it constantly move up and down, showing above and below her hair got distracting and annoying.
Charlie: Charlie from what I know is supposed to be a marionette puppet hence the pale skin and pepperoni cheeks. As a character she is preppy but doubts herself to an extent, so that cancels out anything sexy or flashy which contrasts from her parents in which further solidifies her doubts of being nothing like her parents. She’s the princess of Hell so you can imagine she is high classed and strictly fed (also validating her skinny body) but she’s more leaned towards a businesswoman thereby validating the outfit she has. Her hair is more a stylistic choice which I assume has 2 major reasons to be like that. One, her design is fairly simple and needs something a little odd and funky so she’s it completely boring. Two, she’s a string puppet which in the past usually had braided hair so the loops could be a unique way to replicate that. The new design barely has any changes so that’s it. Vaggie: Vaggie is a MOTH demon so that’s a big reason to why her hair is flow-y and her bow is huge. Vaggie is predicted to be a prostitute in her former human life based on her hate of men and distain for Angel’s profession. Running with this theory, it makes sense for Vaggie to be skinny due to her former job. For the X on her eye I personally think it’s charming however story wise, she most probably has the X from how she died, and is a key center point for her character. The new design I would say isn’t much different from the original in details however it just looks like you made her chubbier which I don’t understand because there are chubby characters such as Mimizie and the fish scientist so there is a reason for their designs being so skinny. Alastor: Alastor is a radio host from the 1930s who is theorized to be a cannibal and serial killer just based on promos and live-streams. He makes sense to be skinny because of 3 reasons. He’s heavily deer like which when imagined is not morbidly obese like a Hippo, he’s a presumed serial killer so it’s a bit hard to kill so many people when you’re not agile, and in the 1930s the economy was flimsy and he probs wasn’t the richest person. As for his design, yes the bow tie and suit is overused and yes there is a LOT of red and the original design could use work however, I am not a fan of the redesigned Alastor. The green is too inviting and Alastor’s fear factor went from a 7 to a 2. The classic businessman look for Alastor is not suitable in my opinion and all the mysterious and eerie wonder is stripped away (The monocle, the coat tail, the antlers) Finally the bow tie I felt was a must with Alastor it just gave him a charm. Angel Dust: Angel dust is an escort fair and simple. He’s supposed to be attractive or something and has no preference to who his client is as long as they have money. The red dots under his eye look like freckles while doubling as spider eyes. For the redesign, the bow can be removed in my opinion with no problem however, the odd handkerchief is even worse. Firstly, I empathize that Angel is an prostitute so he wants clients to request his services. So why would he cover his assets? The things making him money? Also the body suit also doesn’t fit with him. It’ll become difficult when seducing clients. Other than that thank you for reading this. That was my take on the redesigns. Overall, most the redesigns are fresh however they make no sense for how they are illogical.
I love your points on Charlie! It never crossed me that she looks like a little puppet. Or how soft and squishy she looks compared to her parents. Nor did I think about how the green and business man get-up made Alastor look more approachable? Gotta love my shady monacle dear.
Somura I completely agree the character redesign isn’t as whimsical or interesting. And features that were included in the original were necessary for different reasons depending on the character , their backstories, there deaths and their occupation.
The "unnecessary" spots on Angeldusts head, at least under his eyes, represent eyes, because he's based on a spider, his whole familiy is, and spiders have eight eyes, so they belong there and tell us something about the character which you claimed they didn't. You can't redesign a character without knowing them and their background or at least what they're based on. And the redesigns weren't that good at all, Alastor looked muddy and didn't fit into the colour scheme of the rest of the cast, but I liked his broader shoulders and the fluff on his arms. If you would have researched his character a bit more, you would've known that many of his designchoices incorporate elements of deers and possibly wendigos, you could've worked with that more. Angel Dusts pink gloves were clashing with everyone elses outfit and were way to bright, sure it works for him alone, but when he would be on screen like this with other characters it would be way too distracting and bright. Also his outfit wouldn't fit either considering he was part of the italian Mafia and was born inro it, when he was alive. I like the concept of Vaggie being chubby tho, but I think her cause of death was some kind of plague or something, whatever it was, it wouldn't fit in the time period for her to be chubby.
Madison C I mean, not much of a reason not to put it in there, having the 8 limbs does make it a bit more of a spider but the 8 eyes also help people understand it to be more of a spider.
@@madisonc1588 (this comment is copypasted because I'm getting tired of repeating myself) she said the x's on vaggie said nothing about her character but they're actually related to her death / the way she died. She took many important details from the characters tbh and made them all look so calm. They're supposed to be messed up. They literally live in hell. Nobody cares if they look „clean”. By taking angels seductive look she somehow took his whole purpose. She erased everything special about the OC's and claimed to „fix” them as if they were broken before. She could've atleast used the word „redesign” or something like that but she chose not to so more people would click on the video? What the actual heck. Also first part of your commment if very unreasonable. It doesn't matter if somebody told them or not. What matters is that the dots have a purpose and shouldn't be erased at all. The creator of the video should've done some research if they want to claim some of the feautures are „not neccesary” because they actually say a lot about the characters. Sorry if this sounds rude. I'm just upset about her „fixing” amazing OC's and taking all the important things from them; making them not special anymore. And on top of that clickbaiting the audience for more views. I knew it was clickbait but had to click anyway to talk some sense into her and hope she'll change in the future. I mean she's pretty talented and I believe she could do amazing artwork but not like that. She's wasting her talent.
Maybe it's my opinion, I don't see an issue with Viziepop's designs? You ask; 'what are the designs there to achieve?' I say: character silhouette. It's more about 'distinction' than any having to be 'round shapes', as circular shapes tend to give a 'cute kid-friendly' art. But they are beings in Hell, their skinny frames are leaning to a villainous angle, than cute and fluffy. My favorite is Alastor, his overall design is meant to be a cross between a gentleman + radio. The creator does favor the long triangle, stick-like cartoon anatomy but that could be a style choice than 'bad designing'.
While it is important to create a distinct silhouette, the problem lies where you look at a character and you could remove 12 different elements of a design and they are still the same character. There is too much happening which leads to inconsistencies and visual noise. Vaggie is a good example of this. Her x eye is never consistent, in some scenes its visible through the hair in others it's not. But ok it's memorable fine. Her outfit is needlessly complicated though. Mismatched ... Boots? Thigh highs? Idk what they are. One is striped one is plain, both have lace. Arm socks, X's on her boobs, waist belt? Choker. What does it add? Some of these details are ok, but all together it's too much. The only thing it tells me about this character is she doesn't know how to dress herself lol. It doesn't change her silhouette. And her having a big red bow doesn't really fit the rest of her outfit or vibe
There’s a reason why husk is covered in card symbols and why angels suit is so exposed in his cleavage tho, I understand that you have the right not to like the designs but some things are like that for a reason
Thank you, That is what I was saying. Were dealing designs around death and punishment. Connects the design on each. Especially when it, in this case, has meaning and connection to character past, or in this case death. Most time with my own because I am character self-critique on my own works. That represents growth in various ways or fall of said character.
Being covered in card symbols makes his design too visually loud and on the nose IMO. We get he's a gambler from the narrative, the card symbols are a bit too much
@@witchypotato13 there are various versions of hell based on various mythologies. They could have use Reds, Browns, Yellows, Greens, Purple, Dark Blues, and Pink and various tones of it to make it more appealing and make everything pop
"-someone thicker to the cast" *What about Mimzy?* i know she isn't really in the pilot ( unless she is and i didn't see her ) but she's still a character in Hazbin Hotel and she definitely a thicker character, there is no way you can say she's thin. ( The following is the part that i edited in because i had more i wanted to say ) I disliked the redesigns, mainly because of Angel's design. I do not want to start any fights so please respect my opinion, however, i do allow you to place criticism about my opinion and reasoning. *Vaggie* Vaggie's Xs do say something about her character. They are meant to represent the way she died or a hint at what she went through. The Xs are an important part of the design. That's all i have to say about her redesign. *Alastor* The green does not suit him at all, it makes him look like a rotting strawberry instead of a "Strawberry Pimp". Also, the green makes him look very unpleasant against the colorscheme of Hell. *Angel Dust* His spots make him look unique in a way, removing his spots, in my opinion, make him look boring. The way his collar was flipped up and not folded down didn't look right to me either. The way the jacket was made it look like he had an open trenchcoat and no shirt underneath it, therefore exposing his chest fluff. Since Charlie wasn't changed i won't say anything about her. I am sorry if this offended you in any way, i simply wanted to state my opinion. I do see the redesigns being an AU, though! Plus, your art style is really good!
The dots on Angel are also not just part of his design, but his whole family's design as the 6 dots under the eyes are eyes themselves. Angel's family are a bunch of spider demons and have 8 eyes.
You're opinion is completely Valid and I totally agree with you! and Vaggie's X's are very important to her design, and making her "Chubby" just makes her seem so wrong. Green is such a horrible colour for Alastor, or for hell. Angel needs his dots and his suit. But Charlies hair not swooping over the side of her head annoys the heel out of me, other wise she's good.
Honestly facts! That's a much nicer things to say than other people on here! I just don't agree with 'fixing' art since art is about not what it is but what you perceive it to be!
Omg these “fixed” designs look like actual crap, i cannot imagine them moving, they feel like they are from different cartoons Btw, wtf is wrong with Alastor “fixed” design? It’s literally green?
He looks broken. Literally broken. Ok, I know what stylization is. But there is a distinction between "yes, it looks special" and "it's too special, eccentric and only for small auditory".
I feel like if that bright portion of his hair wasn't red, it'd look much better. But she hardly changed the iconic parts of the originals, just gave them more distinctive colors and body shapes and got rid of some details.
Fans of Charlie see her : ok we will let it go Fans of Vaggie: hmm tone down the thinkness and brinng the X's back fans of Alastor: where are the pitchforks?!
I agree whole heartedly, I’m totes down with a thicc, but dude skin it down a bit, vaggie but the ✖️’s are symbolism. And ew, I like green but ew, They totally destroyed alastor.
“Random floating Xs” no offense, but I personally disagree with this. This is a representation of if they were shot, stabbed, etc. Allastor has a x on his forehead, representing a bullet from a head for a “cure” to a rapid dog who bit him which gave him rabies.
prrtmafia I’m pretty sure vivzie confirmed this, if it hasn’t I just know he had to die from a dog, and considering his timeline, this theory made more sense (a bullet to the head was the only cure to rabies back then)
Going to be honest nobody who’s watching the show casually is going to make a definite note of that part of the design. Especially with all the additional stuff going on hazbin (which is a LOT)
I feel like most of the reason and mistakes you named where unnecessary and not all true. For example, with the silhouettes. When you showed the silhouettes that were supposed to be "recognizable" they were not all from the same show, so they are bound to look different. Each show has it's own style, like Hazbin Hotel's is pointy, jagged, elongated, etc. If you look at the Simpsons' silhouettes they look similar as well. Along with A TON of other shows. We are all entitled to our own opinion, yes, but I'm just trying to get my point across o,0
I'm not really into the idea of redesigning other people's creations. Maybe, if it was a badly done book to cartoon kind of thing, but, not an original work. I love Hazbin, but, this is more of a "personal artist code" thing than a fan thing. Art style is art style, you can't "fix" it.
Honestly, I don’t like the redesigns. Alastor isn’t Alastor anymore. The color palette is reddish and black because it’s in hell, I really like the current designs Vivzie made for them since it makes the characters the way they are. Please research on the characters before you “fix” them.
The body shape of the redesign Alastor is more like a mobster than a dapper gentleman, cause of the boxier chest, and the green suit just keeps reminding me of Fred from Courage the Cowardly dog.
What's with the "it's hell" excuse? You can use greens and purples for "evil people" so please stop with that, I'm not saying her redesigns are amazing and better than the originals, but yes, there's way too much red and that's not good
The thing about the "everyone is red", "everyone is so slim/skinny", "so many unnecessary details" is... Its stylization, the characters are in hell, there is red light pretty much everywhere. Also the red and black, especially on alastor add to the creepy, sinister vibe. So of all the characters, Alastor is the one that these colors fit the most. I agree with the silhuette thing, yes, but i dont think altering the bodyshape too much works here, since the main cast of characters are the least anthropromorphic in the show compared to the background and side characters. Except Husker maybe. Anyways, what makes these characters still recognizable is the fact that they are heavily stylized, and the colortheme fits the hellish atmosphere.
I agree like everyone hates how everything is red and black but hell is a dark place yah know its HELL theres not gonna be like blue and green and like happy colors it's a dark place
She literally said to make it easier to animate 💀 she is looking at this through Industry standards. You don’t have to line up with those standards but she isn’t doing much wrong
You are a good artist... But I disagree with the concept of "fixing art" it just seems offensive to the original artist. They designed their character how THEY wanted to. There is no way to fix that. An arist can redraw and renew a character themselves, even I have done that to some of my characters, but another person cannot "fix the art" because it is not their art.
Yes, this can be rude, I don't think she was trying to though. This video is not on why her art is bad, just ways she can tell how to make a more recognizable character. What she mostly did is take away the little details that would make animation harder (Alastor is really bad I will say that) and make the body shape different so they can be recognize (which while I'm drawing it hard for me to do) This is less of a know it all and telling why her art was bad and more like a art teacher, giving advice they don't need to follow. Unpopular opinion I know.
Charlie: not changed The girl she drew fat: fat doesn’t mean good Radio guy: vomit colored, looks hella stupid Transvestite: the same except stripes Overall rating: -3/10 Explanation: first of all fixing is stupid, second of all if you were really sorry you would have deleted the video or taken the ads off of it, third 2 of the characters were barely changed in any way, fourth the other 2 look 100x worse than the originals, and finally the like to dislike ratio shows that people didn’t like the video anyways. This video is cringe.
i love the fact that when she was talking about the colors, hazbin's color pallets were just a line of all the colors while in other characters it had the placement of the colors and the correct sizes (at like 4:43)

Hazbin Hotel is in a public website and everybody is free to do what they want, you can’t stop or control people to not redesign a character, it happens with Harry Potter and other famous characters, if someone is offended by that knowing their characters are in public, they might reconsider posting them online.
@@cryptical1210 lol they can redesign all they want. This is the internet afterall. Its just something i wont appreciate if they change my oc fully to fit for their liking. And if you're decent enough, you wouldn't do that to someone's character you know?
@@cryptical1210 So are you saying that if i share something in a pubic website i no longer own the thing and everyone can use it without my consent? What about copyright?
@@leoaceves2652 Yes actually. There’s a thing called fair use, I can take your creation and create parodies or new designs or whatever the fuck I want as long as I don’t sell it. Copyright protection only stops me from claiming your creation as mine and/or selling it.
I feel like the character design flaws don't come from Vivzie being a bad designer or something like that but the fact that the Hazbin cast is made up entirely from her very old OCs. Of course she redesigned them for the project but they still kept the 12 yr old emo feel. If you look at Helluva Boss (the Hazbin spin off show) where the character concepts are much more recent it's apparent those are much more distinct and have better shapes (yes even the furry wolf girl has a comprehensible design). There are still a bit too many details and patterns but that's more like the fault of the two shows being set in the same universe.
@@krystle8090 I literally just explained in my comment that she's either too afraid or too emotionally attached to her old OCs and designs to drastically change them and she's been exclusively drawing these OCs for years. Her obsession with too many patterns and details is also a design flaw but probably it's her personal taste that won't change anytime soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was thinking that maybe they were old honestly since I've always had the same thing with my characters. Although I'm lucky most of them didn't have ridiculous designs and all I had to worry about was the actually story line and stuff outside of their looks. Although my stories are still a bit emo, I can at least be grateful there's one heterochromatic albino emo boy for me to worry about instead of 20.
Thank you that part confused tf out of me. When she showed the black bases of all the different characters they were all from different shows. Had different character designers and art styles. Making her point invalid. One of the shadows was of tinker bell and all the main female fairies in tinker bell have the exact same design. Also in character design the defining characteristic doesn’t have to be body type/shape. 90s anime. The most iconic characters came out of that era but all the character bases were the same. What defines them was their hair, clothing, pose, etc. NOT THEIR BODY SHAPE Sailor moon, Tokyo mew mew, mermaid melody, yu gi oh, evangelion sigghhgksjdhxbsbsbdh

"The X on her eye says nothing about the character" It's trying to put the "character" Aspect like you said into the character by symbolizing how she died. And P.S. no hate but I personally really REALLY think Alastor's character design was perfect at the start. The red adds the aspect of creepy and the fact they are in hell. The original eyes added aspect of sly and mysterious. I don't like it I'm sorry
@@masseuse2444 Yeah, But the whole "Redesign" was literally just worthless and it didn't even fit the characters, for one, and two, Their design shows who they are and how they died.
You give some really valid critisism about the show and the designs, but overall I still prefer the original designs I think, even though I'm not a huuuge fan of Vivzies designs as well but I really respect her unique art style, even though she overuses a lot of elements etc. I really liked that you gave Vaggie more of a curvy body and generally the body changes. I think I'm most dissapointed with Alastors new colors. For such a fun and extreme character the colors just look very dull in my opinion. The reds in the original at least were really popping, to a point were it's a little overbearing, but that also kinda suits his character.
Alastor’s excessive reds could’ve had more tone variation if anything, making lighter pinks and some blues and blacks more prominent, but that’s kinda the only thing that I would change about him. A broader shoulder maybe but other than that I think he’s good.
i actually kinda liked meppity's decision to make alastor's palette more lowkey considering the era he comes from and his background as radio host and serial killer (so he doesn't want to stand out in terms of appearance and in his job he relies on voice rather than on visuals) this redesign also gives me like "still waters run deep" vibes which is refreshing from seemingly everybody having a very bombastic and loud character in the show
I honestly find redesigning someone else’s characters really offensive to the original artist and honestly think people should stop doing this just my thoughts ( I’m an artist too so I know what I’m talking about)
I don't think redesigning them is offensive in anyway. Its just someone imagining how they'd personally want the characters to look. What is offensive is making a video saying your new designs are objectively better than the originals. Then again criticism is always needed. Its not always good or helpful in anyway and sometimes is purely subjective but it should still be there nonetheless.
@@Gorp0117 I agree as a person who loves their ocs I would love to see people draw my ocs in different ways but I would be so sad and hurt if someone told me that my own designs were bad or anything like that and so true criticism is needed tho not all criticism is good ^^
Here’s some symbolism behind the “cards in wings” and “polka dots in hair”. The cards on Husk’s wings symbolizes how he gambled away in his previous life, and how he still gambles while in Hell. The polka dots in Angel Dust’s hair are actually representing spider eyes; Angle Dust and his family are based off of arachnids and drugs. Edit: Oof, sorry for sounding rude and passive. I didn’t mean it that way.
The thiccest boi Meh, it’s your own opinion. Personally, I’m big about symbolism and stuff, so I admire designs that have meaning. Again, it’s your opinion.

While I fully agree with your points in words such as lack of variety in shapes and an overwhelming amount of unnecessary details, I think the execution of the redesigns could use more work. I love how you applied various body types and fashion of time eras they are from as well, yet it felt a little below the quality of the usual artworks of yours and for a lack of a better word - lacked in appeal and charms. (Also, this is very personal, but as most of the redesigns stayed mostly in their original red-ish color schemes while Alastor's was greatly altered, it made him feel isolated and even seems as if he is a different being than just a demon. It stands out too much when it shouldn't.) Overall, a very interesting and informative video to hear constructive criticism from someone who has knowledge in animation and character design. Keep up the good work Meppity! :)
Don’t see the issue with it. Kind of confused on the intentions behind your comment. Is this an attempt at insulting the creator? If so, kind of hypocritical considering how this comment is insulting them as well but anyways.
I agree! Green is a very calm color and doesn't fit with him. I would've gone with brown shades. Like the vintage washed out sepia colors and red as a secondary color.
Yeah, I think Meppity should’ve stuck with Alastor’s original color palette and emphasized the yellow color from his teeth instead. The only issue with his design is that he’s too red; adding some of the yellow color from his teeth to his clothes would’ve made him pop out more while still looking demonic and mysterious.
Alastor must have a red palette because it shows how dangerous and aggressive he could be , once the whole hell fears him . So green does not make sense .
Carolina Velluto but why does red have to be the scary colour? It’s his actions that intimidate and he wouldn’t stand out if he was red like everyone else. I do like the idea of emphasising the yellow though! The green was definitely... Experimental lol
@@pernishkatehaswaytoomanypl8273I like the fact that it's a calmer color for his character I feel like it adds a bit more for him, although i feel like it would look better with more black
I honestly dont like any of the designs. They are all skinny because they are dead and they've lost their weight. Vaggies X is a part of her death, really without it the name VAGGIE doesn't really pop up. Alastor just looks like the Grinch in a horror movie. And for Angel Dust, I dont really understand why the hands/gloves and boots/feet are so large. Charlie looks completely the same just taller. I'm very sorry if this sounds really rude but I'm just being honest. This doesn't feel like Hazbin Hotel, just Hotel.
Honestly, I don't really like any of the "fixed" designs. When I was looking at the finished projects the characters really looked lifeless and stiff. You want to criticize Viziepop for not having good looking thin characters but in the end you only took her designs and made them look like they jumped into a donation box and then walked back out with wonky, uncomfortable, eye hurting outfits. Especially the green and red Alastor, the green and the red seem to clash against one another and the whole point of a red color pallette is because it's hell and hell is usually depicted to be red and firey or at least that's what I would get from simply looking at the fact that they literally are living in hell.
I agree with you and adding on to the whole "Alastor outfit/palette" red is a colour that tends to radiate danger and he was a serial character and an extremely powerful demon so adding green made him look far less dangerous and intimidating
Okay right, but if your whole setting is based on red palettes and all of your characters have red palettes, nothing is going to stand out, you need more contrast between characters and settings, that’s the only flaw.
Yes but alastor it green does not work especially if it looks like a camo he looks like he came from the military. T^T I'm not trying to be mean this channel is good at art and they don't have to like the show but do criticize others vivzi she made the pilot with her heart and it's kinda rude that she said "it feels like an 11 year old made it and was able to use curse words" people only criticize because they are not happy on what that person made so they look at the flaws. But whats wrong with the flaws they still look great they way they are
The reason why each character has clothing that doesn't look too well match to the proper timeline is because, just like their demon forms, are reflections of themselves. Also Vivienne Medrano's whole stick is flimsy and cartoonish in nature. She does this to put the characters in poses that would otherwise look unnatural. It might be your personal opinion that the character designs look busy but really the level of detail is not that bad. But your redesigns don't seem any better then the originals. Plus, vaggie's eye cross? Really? Her X is no different from anime eye brows going over hair.
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. And there's really not that much wrong with your critiques alone. But your argument, as it has been presented, ultimately lives or dies by how you choose to rectify the issues you have with the original characters by executing your own redesigns in an exemplary way. And unfortunately, I think this is where you lost a lot of ppl since the designs you created, as you've already implied, just aren't good enough to support your own claims. I actually see a lot of contradictions in your designs here. I see no improved uniqueness or silhouette in any of your designs. If anything, I would wager you did nothing but prove the original character models are actually quite inspired and much more appealing to look at as works of art (regardless of whether you feel they're prepped well for animation or not). And as far as your critique that the original characters look like they were created by 12 year olds and don't adhere to the designing methodology of a lot of well known, established characters as objective proof of poor character design... well I would argue that that's a bit of a disingenuous and close-minded criticism. You're comparing commercial mainstays like the Simpsons, Peanuts & Looney Tunes (properties that have always been geared towards creating and profiting from as much commercial viability as possible) with an independently made youtube animation aimed at adults. My point here is that the rules are different. It's clear, since you mentioned you're still in school, that your perspective on proper animation/animated design is based on what you're currently learning, and that's perfectly fine. But I do think you're missing a bit of self-awareness that most often only comes from creating a full scale animation outside of a learning institution & by your own rules & standards. I know you've probably been hit with every criticism imaginable regarding this video, but I hope mine doesn't come across as rude or mean-spirited. I just know what it's like to have opinions like this about other ppls art. It's alienating, even if your critique isn't the worst, and it can sometimes be hard to see how you're coming across to others. Just try to be careful when approaching art critiques in this way. Because at the end of the day, if you critique someone else's art and yours isn't up to par for whatever reason... the only thing ppl will remember is that your art sucks and therefore your point is invalid, lol. And that would be a shame because you did drop some good character design tips for beginners in this video. In any case, I wish you luck in all your endeavors. Sorry for the long rant on an issue you've probably long since put behind you lol.
Bruh this comment deserves more likes. I see sooo many comments of angry hh fanboys/girls who don't really adress the main issue with this video but rather blindingly defend the show and attack her for being rude and "trashy". Your comment is the first one I read that actually addressed the real problems with this video whilst still being kind and rather than attack, actually created space for a real discussion to be made. Instead of pointing fingers everywhere. Respect. I'm apparently also late to this party, lol

Sounds pretty offensive.. Like, Vivzie worked on the designs for the characters for years, and i think, Vivzie’s characters turned out just perfect. There’s no need to fix them.
I really hate it when people "fix" others Oc's it's not yours TO fix. Their art style is why the characters are so slim. It's meant to look creepy in a pretty kind of way.. Just because the characters are made very slim doesn't mean the character design is bad. It's just an art style nothing of it needs to be fixed. Please, understand that.
shugar lemon i absolutely feel you. I have a class mate and he criticized and “fixes” my art and doodles. He says like: why do you always draw like this, this is better. He says that like every day and this creator is the same kinda person.
NGTL the 'redesigns ' look really stiff, like a barbie doll form the early 2000s. Also, you clearly didn't do any more research then just watch the pilot. If you are going to 'fix ' someone else designs then you should at least put effort in and do research, because some of the 'useless' details are there for the character
I agree with you but some people just don't think theres anything more to find so they don't look. And 'some' people are wayyy too aggresive about the basic rules of good character design so they think anything that does not connect to someyhing is bad, not saying thts everybody but alot of people think that
Vaggie's X is to represent she's a fallen angel as the fallen angels have X's for eyes and use spears like she does Edit: this is honestly just a theory so idk
“Fixed” title: I didn’t understand the symbolism and purpose behind their designs and basically changed it because I personally didn’t like the artist’s original work/style. The purpose of Vaggie’s “X” is to show how she died. She’s missing an eye because she was presumably raped and then killed. Angeldust is a stripper/sex worker who was a mobster when he was alive, his entire family was. Him wearing a bow tie and tux makes sense to represent his previous life. His design was based off a spider which is why he has 3 dots under each of his eyes and because he is a vibrant sex worker, his colors are meant to show off his personality. I don’t want to even get started on Alistor. You realize they’re all in hell right? The place where everything is red and has different variations of red? I’m gone bruh.
If that's the case, shouldn't every character have a key spot that reflects their death? As creative as these designs can get, they really need a central theme that links them all together. It's all just so distracting.
In a random stream with Viv (forgot the name) she says that Alastor was shot square between the eyes. A brief flash of him using his powers shows an X right where he was shot.
I thought the most common theory is that Vaggie is a fallen angel because of the X. All the angels in the opening sequence have X's over one of their eyes, and Vaggie is the most not-red character on the cast, maybe because red is for hell and grey/white/lighter colours are for heaven.
Tbh this ain't called a “fixed”, firstly you can't call someone's own art as broken. It's like saying they don't know how to draw their OWN characters which is very disrespectful. Plus, this kind of art style gets attention because it's not common like others. I like hazbin as how it is
I'm not really an artist so take my criticism with a grain of salt: Charlie: I think the hair was a good improvement, and it evens out her frame a bit more than the original. However, with simplifying her outfit she doesn't really seem like the main character at least compared to the redesigns of the other characters. Vaggie: I think the unique shape is good for variety, though it doesn't quite seem like Vaggie anymore. I feel as though the X over her eye was the most recognizable part of her, and without it she's just another person. If you're going to take something away that's so important to the original design, you might want to consider bringing over the X to another area. Headband/hairclip perhaps so to keep it in place but have it make more sense. Angel Dust: I appreciate the fact that you made him more fluffy. There are a few aspects that I found unnecessary. The switch from white fur to pink blends in a bit with the completely pink outfit you gave him. The stripes also created a lot to look when you tried to take away the details. As others have said before me, I also agree that the dots (at least the ones under his eyes) are essential to his original character design. Alastor: I'm not really sure where to start to be honest. I appreciate the broader shoulders (even though they could be a tad smaller) and the more age appropriate suit. I believe however that the original outfit gave more shape to his bottom half, and now he seems a bit too top heavy with his ears and hair. One more thing, I know that you're already aware but the green unfortunately did not go over well. I think its especially necessary to keep a strict color pallet when working on multiple characters. If you use too many colors, the characters dont look pretty next to one another (which is one of the reasons they use the same colors with multiple characters) With all of that said, I appreciate the fact that you're reading and responding to criticism. And I especially think the fact that you're willing to recreate your versions of these characters is really admirable. I wish you the best!
@@queen_ackerman4328 Theres definitely cases where it turns out okay. Green Ivy is the first that comes to mind, though its definitely not easy to pull off.

Lmao I’m not even a huge fan of Hasbin Hotel but when she showed the silhouettes I could easily identify all of the characters and thought they all looked pretty distinct. You don’t need the body shapes to be completely different to tell characters apart, vivsie’s designs are so extravagant with their hair and clothes that they already have a striking silhouette unique to the others.
The point is that upon first glance they look extremely similar. To identify them you would have to stare at the head shape or count the number of ridges on the hair, just generally pay attention to detail. Where if you were to compare SpongeBob to Patrick you can tell almost instantly who is who
I think it's mostly the bodies that are too similiar and don't contrast each other enough. It is easy to identify each character but I did that mostly by the heads. It's the bodies that could be more diverse
@@Gigothy How do you compare a literal fucking star and square to more humaniod creatures? Like I'd hope you graduated preschool to tell the difference between a square and star
Alright, I'll make the argument. The only reason your color palette showcase of other shows works in your favor us because they're stacked as a minimalist representation of the characters. If you showed the palettes like you did those of Hazbin characters, that is as solid color blocks showing the colors used in no coherent order, most viewers would have no idea who they are without some serious study.
I think Vizzie’s character designs are creative and fun. I love the personality and energy vibrating through them. I don’t like to criticize other people’s art styles since I myself am self conscious of my own art style.
@@Based6969 but that makes them unique. True making too much details is a pain, but making to little details is boring. I, personally, liked over complicated designs, but I dont often put them in my characters cause they are a pain to animate. But in conclusion, I felt like her criticisms was too harsh. The original character designs are so unique and i just adore every one of them so much! So it kinda upset me when it said "fixed" in the thumbnail. True, each character is thin, and has a lot of pointed shapes, but the art style is very unique and it drifts away from other artstyles, and all of them are demons for a reason. And the pointed shapes compliment the character personality. Sure, the main cast have similar colors, Espicaly white, red, and pink, all in different shades, but the main color scheme in hell is shades of red, orange, black, and yellow. And the colors do compliment each character itself. I honest feel like her redesigns were limited and in control, and the colors don't compliment the designs, and the chucky body's and more circular shapes don't fit my liking. Overall I dislike, almost hate the redesigns Tldr: I felt like she was very harsh on the original design, the body shapes and colors compliment each character and they're personality. So I almost hate her redesigns
Yes l don't need 20 seconds, plus when she says that all those other silhouettes are different, she shows a bunch of different silhouettes from a bunch of different shows, ofcourse they are different
And also the color argument with the color tiles, she just Laid them out with reckless abandon then when she goes to the other character color tiles she goes through the effort to stack them all up like with homer even getting the beard. Then she does the exact same thing with south park and Scooby-doo

I also agree
Madison C yeah, maybe, but I still liked the originals better
the design feels like disney and invader zim whilst being for adults

I'm no artist but I do know this:
The reason why most characters have sharp edges and triangular shaped heads is because the triangle shape suits the more evil characteristics.

The X on Vaggie’s eye represents the wound that she died from, which Vivziepop mentioned in one of her streams. The dots on Angel’s face under his eyes are supposed to allude to the fact that his character is based off a spider.
U had my old YT channel profile omg XD
For the angel dust thing, the dots are supposed to represent eyes, so idk what you’re trying to get at there
@@Милош-р3д Alastor has a small X on his forehead, implying that he was possibly shot
(And about Vaggie, theres also a theory that she got killed in a hate crime by being strangled so yeah in which case the X has no meaning, they're only theories so yeah)
They don't look like eyes they look like dots, if the characters had simple dots for eyes in that case the dots would fit but the characters don't and therefor thry don't fit. (For clarity I'm refering to Angels pink dots on the hair, not the ones on the cheeks)
Alastor hair snd feet are like that because he is a deer demon. Also, it seems more like you just dont like her art style. Also, it is probably meant to look chaotic and monotone. I’m not even that big of a fan of the show, but as an artist, seeing someone take another person’s art style and characters while claiming to “fix” them is downright disrespectful. There are some outlines and suggested rules for art, but the beauty of it is that it is up to the creators discretion.
I Agree With You
Agreed
Agree
Right
Not wrong
The main thing about Vaggie's X that actually carries significance is that it is potentially her death mark, like how there's a tiny X on Alastor's forehead when he gets angry in the pilot. Presumably, all characters have this somewhere. It shows where or how they died. Like, a bullet to the head would be Alastor's death, it's a small X and a bullet would be most logical. For Vaggie, it could be a stab wound or infection or something along the lines of the eye leading to death. It makes sense to me why she has it and I see people hating it all the time and it baffles me.
Okay the x seems kinda going under the hair and then just going over it makes no sense:/

Well said
It’s obvious she hasn’t watched the pilot, or at least not payed attention enough. She got many things revealed in the pilot wrong. For example, she didn’t know how to pronounce Vaggie, despite her name being said multiple times. She’s just being ignorant
Spoken like a champ
I agree, this is well said
3:34 Uhm, you do realize that those are different artstyles from different shows, also, those are popular characters, well known all around the world, and you're comparing them to Hazbin Hotel, a not so popular show, with a different artsyle. And you're comparing them to a single episode, not even an episode, a pilot.
lets compare all the pilot designs to hazbin pilot designs
most importantly, the style of the shows and the ideas behind the characters, all of those characters are the least human look alike designs tbh, which with Hazbin Hotel they are way more humanoid, if they were to design in a more childish style it kinda takes away the point of the show and makes the characters look goofy
It’s like complaining that cartoon designs are too round or exaggerated.
Leloo the MelonLord actually Alastor was mauled by dogs, so that can’t be what it represents.
Montyistic well it could be a mark of voodoo to show a deal was made
Azairence Robinson should still be more consistent, I had this problem with Vaggie as well. Seeing it constantly move up and down, showing above and below her hair got distracting and annoying.
Charlie:
Charlie from what I know is supposed to be a marionette puppet hence the pale skin and pepperoni cheeks.
Vaggie:
Vaggie is a MOTH demon so that’s a big reason to why her hair is flow-y and her bow is huge.
Alastor:
Alastor is a radio host from the 1930s who is theorized to be a cannibal and serial killer just based on promos and live-streams.
Angel Dust:
Angel dust is an escort fair and simple.
Is the deer design related to the Wendigo since Wendigo skulls are deer like and are also supposed to be humans turned cannibals.
Somura I completely agree the character redesign isn’t as whimsical or interesting. And features that were included in the original were necessary for different reasons depending on the character , their backstories, there deaths and their occupation.
I really thinks the same
👍
Vaggie died in 2014.
Sorin XI oof didn't know that, I reposted this comment, it was from 7 months ago and I wasn't aware of that, thank you for correcting me! ^^
The only reason you knew they were eyes is because someone probably told you, I think the multiple arms show his spideryness enough
Preach it ^
THANK YOU omg-
👏👏👏👏
I do love the designs and they're so iconic to me I'd be really sad if they got changed in later episodes :c

I disliked the redesigns, mainly because of Angel's design. I do not want to start any fights so please respect my opinion, however, i do allow you to place criticism about my opinion and reasoning.
*Vaggie*
Vaggie's Xs do say something about her character. They are meant to represent the way she died or a hint at what she went through. The Xs are an important part of the design. That's all i have to say about her redesign.
*Alastor*
The green does not suit him at all, it makes him look like a rotting strawberry instead of a "Strawberry Pimp". Also, the green makes him look very unpleasant against the colorscheme of Hell.
*Angel Dust*
His spots make him look unique in a way, removing his spots, in my opinion, make him look boring.
@@Wolfen5207 Indeed, so Angel and ( probably ) his whole family just 6 very useful eyes.

Yeah like omg different shows have different char designs

Honestly, I don’t like the redesigns. Alastor isn’t Alastor anymore. The color palette is reddish and black because it’s in hell, I really like the current designs Vivzie made for them since it makes the characters the way they are. Please research on the characters before you “fix” them.
The body shape of the redesign Alastor is more like a mobster than a dapper gentleman, cause of the boxier chest, and the green suit just keeps reminding me of Fred from Courage the Cowardly dog.
@@WolfLoverLisa10 Yeah the green may go well with red sometimes but wth was up with alastor

What's with the "it's hell" excuse? You can use greens and purples for "evil people" so please stop with that, I'm not saying her redesigns are amazing and better than the originals, but yes, there's way too much red and that's not good
Agreed.

But I disagree with the concept of "fixing art" it just seems offensive to the original artist. They designed their character how THEY wanted to. There is no way to fix that. Yes, this can be rude, I don't think she was trying to though. This video is not on why her art is bad, just ways she can tell how to make a more recognizable character.
What she mostly did is take away the little details that would make animation harder (Alastor is really bad I will say that) and make the body shape different so they can be recognize (which while I'm drawing it hard for me to do)

I think I'm most dissapointed with Alastors new colors. For such a fun and extreme character the colors just look very dull in my opinion. The reds in the original at least were really popping, to a point were it's a little overbearing, but that also kinda suits his character.
Muas totally agree
You get it! Thank you!
Alastor’s excessive reds could’ve had more tone variation if anything, making lighter pinks and some blues and blacks more prominent, but that’s kinda the only thing that I would change about him. A broader shoulder maybe but other than that I think he’s good.
i actually kinda liked meppity's decision to make alastor's palette more lowkey considering the era he comes from and his background as radio host and serial killer (so he doesn't want to stand out in terms of appearance and in his job he relies on voice rather than on visuals)
this redesign also gives me like "still waters run deep" vibes which is refreshing from seemingly everybody having a very bombastic and loud character in the show
I feel like Alastor's design could 100% work if all he extra details were cut, and if he had some tweaks on his face

I don't think redesigning them is offensive in anyway. Its just someone imagining how they'd personally want the characters to look. Here’s some symbolism behind the “cards in wings” and “polka dots in hair”. The cards on Husk’s wings symbolizes how he gambled away in his previous life, and how he still gambles while in Hell.

The “X” on Vaggie shows how she died. Though I agree it should be minimalist it is a must keep
Didnt vivzepop say that the character designs dont represent the ways the characters died
@@ricecristpy I mean that would have been a good concept if Viziepop didn't say she died in 2014 making her originally human

Tbh this ain't called a “fixed”, firstly you can't call someone's own art as broken. It's like saying they don't know how to draw their OWN characters which is very disrespectful.
Plus, this kind of art style gets attention because it's not common like others. I like hazbin as how it is
Very true
True true

I agree"the too much detail" is the main part and that's so great about vivs work is the detail.
@@Artificial_Idiot
yup. but that's part of hazbin's unique art style. it gives more volume to the characters
*Alastor has antlers...*
And the spots under Angel's eyes, are his other spider eyes ;_;
YES exactly that are not unnecessary
Oop someone done messed up
I was just about to say that..
Caleigh Tilson sorry, but alastors antlers are really small, and the spots look more like freckles than eyes
@@eituenie I mean-
Yes, they are very small. But it is a crucial thingy for the types of animals they are.
I honestly prefer the originals to these.

You literary just took out most tiny detail and life out of the characters and called them fixed
I'm not really an artist so take my criticism with a grain of salt:
Charlie: I think the hair was a good improvement, and it evens out her frame a bit more than the original.
If you use too many colors, the characters dont look pretty next to one another (which is one of the reasons they use the same colors with multiple characters)
With all of that said, I appreciate the fact that you're reading and responding to criticism. And I especially think the fact that you're willing to recreate your versions of these characters is really admirable. I wish you the best!
Alex green and red just don’t go together 😐
@@queen_ackerman4328 Theres definitely cases where it turns out okay. Green Ivy is the first that comes to mind, though its definitely not easy to pull off.
This is definitely an underrate comment. And yes, i agree that some of the characters'vextra features make them unique and distinguishable
@@somename9058 I just found it really lame that people were complaining without saying what they thought would make it look better. No one really improves from "you suck" lol
Hazbin do you mean
The point is that upon first glance they look extremely similar. To identify them you would have to stare at the head shape or count the number of ridges on the hair, just generally pay attention to detail. Where if you were to compare SpongeBob to Patrick you can tell almost instantly who is who
For someone with really stylized art, Vivsie sure relies on the same body types
THANK YOU
YES THANK YOU

"redesigning"
...Made the character models infinitely worse
I think Vizzie’s character designs are creative and fun. I love the personality and energy vibrating through them. I don’t like to criticize other people’s art styles since I myself am self conscious of my own art style.
This was in 160 but I ruined it.

Overall I dislike, almost hate the redesigns
Tldr: I felt like she was very harsh on the original design, the body shapes and colors compliment each character and they're personality. So I almost hate her redesigns
When she shows the silhouettes of hazbin hotel though, you can easily tell them apart?
Yes l don't need 20 seconds, plus when she says that all those other silhouettes are different, she shows a bunch of different silhouettes from a bunch of different shows, ofcourse they are different
Yep
And also the color argument with the color tiles, she just Laid them out with reckless abandon then when she goes to the other character color tiles she goes through the effort to stack them all up like with homer even getting the beard. Then she does the exact same thing with south park and Scooby-doo
Also the shifting Silhouettes is a very annoying detail
Why'd u phrase that as a question?
Charlie: Got slightly taller
Vaggie: Ate one too many cheese burgers
Alastor: ...I don’t even know what happened there
