Would you have any knowledge of a few rivers around christchurch that are known to hold many small trout? i am a beginner fly fisherman and just want somewhere to learn cheers

I would suggest having a look at the Fish and Game website, that has a lot of info on where to fish and also what rivers are open at this time of year. Thanks

It's not on the plains so it's got be either Hurunui or Waiau next to a large bridge.
