- Maureen O’Hara receives an Honorary Award at the 2014 Governors Awards in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, CA, Saturday, November 8.
She looks awesome at the age of 94! I'm so glad they gave her an Oscar before she died. Rest in peace, dear lady!
She didn't need the oscars to be a success, her life was living proof of her greatness.
RIP Maureen O'Hara, a legendary actress and the last of the Golden era of Hollywood actresses. You were truly the pride of Ireland, Ms O'Hara and you will be deeply missed. RIP.
Olivia de havilland still alive...
+Cacaparo yes 99years old
+Cacaparo yes 99years old
+Cacaparo and Doris Day
don't forget Olivia de Havilland, still going at 101! when she & Kirk Douglas pass (also 101), that'll be the curtain drawn on the last of the 1910-born
To be given an award by a fellow Irishman, who probably watched her growing up, and a fellow Western film actor, who probably looked to her as a mentor. That's awesome. God rest your soul, Ms. Maureen.
well about time she got an oscar!!
+roter13 RIP Maureen.
I'm watching the quiet man one my very favorites, I loved maureen ohara. it was her efforts primarily that got congress to give the Duke the medal of honor she told them it need only to say,John Wayne American " and that's what they did.
RIP Maureen O'Hara. She died today at 95. Such memories of a wonderful career and a great spirit and entertainer.
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this legendary actress. O'Hara reeks of class; beauty in spades.
MAUREEN O' HARA --It has been a week since her passing, & the tributes are still coming. Her life is an inspiration to so many of us; especially those with an IRISH heritage.. In memory of my MOTHER I Salute Ms. O' HARA for the many Golden hours of entertainment you left behind . GOD BLESS YOU.
Apparently, she continued to speak and speak and the Academy took her mic away. The whole thing is awful. A movie legend like that deserves MUCH BETTER treatment!
TheTerryE she did deserve better! Poor lady.
John Wayne was treated the same way. Why I dislike Hollywood some much.
AMEN!
@@thomaspatt3048 good, you do!!!
Marvelous woman/actress. Why did they wait till she was wheelchair bound to give her this? The academy really has gone down the drain over the years!!
Amen on both counts
Yes it is truly terrible state of affairs and even worse now.
Will Smith
It's amazing that at her age, she looked very good. She was a great woman, actress, singer and friend (of John Wayne). R.I.P.
Alfredo Di Stéfano Laulhé best couples of the movies friends amazing blessedly
There is a special pain we seem to feel at times like this when we watch a beloved star like Maureen O'Hara fading away before our eyes. I remember seeing John Wayne shortly before he died and watching him was like feeling a knife in my chest. Now Clint Walker has also joined them on the walk of stars in heaven...
Estamos de passagem e indo embora
Dear Maureen, from us all in the Emerald Isle may I wish you peace and rest from here on in, and thankyou for being a true ambassador for Ireland on film during the Hollywood golden era. RIP.
At last she got her Oscar...well deserved, yet long overdue.
Maureen O’Hara is simply the Best
Wonderful actress with great spirit and sense of humor. She was one of a kind. Rest in peace.
RIP to the legend that is Maureen O'Hara who passed away today at the age of 95. She was the last living actor from "The Golden Age of Hollywood" and as of this day there is no living cast member from 'The Quiet Man'. May she be just as feisty and inspiring as she was to all of us
sorry your wrong on cast members Patrick wayne 78 still going strong and was in the horse race scenes on the horse cart
great actress! Worked with Jimmy stewart, John Wayne, Charles laughton She was a legend you will be missed RiP Maureen O"Hara
I'm crying! She's still amazing as ever! One of the best! My All Time Favorite actress! :)
Maureen O'Hara a true Legend of the screen and at 94 years old still has her Irish accent and she is such an inspiration for all young Irish actors and actresses
She is still a beauty. So happy she finally got this award.
She's 94 and she looks like a 50 year old lady. Truly a beauty.
Ivan Corredera Yeap, she really does look well and wouldn't think that she is 94! :) Wow, love her and my favourite movie "Quiet Man" :)
If the two Johns would have been alive back then, they would smash the Oscar comitee for treating her like they did. The Oscars really have become an absolute shitshow.
Congratulations Maureen!!! You are AMAZING!!!
One of the reasons I'm proud to be an Irish redhead
Finally an Oscar, well deserved Maureen O'Hara!!!
Always grateful to Maureen OHara. She was wonderful in the Quiet Man and other John Ford movies. Inamdar Mumbai.
Thank you to Clint for doing this. The Duke would be proud
Loved her performance in ''How Green Was My Valley''. True Hollywood star! Well deserved award!
It's nice to see that she did get acknowledged! :) She well deserves this award! :)
I love her... Always hard working and a class act.
It's about time. Love Maureen O'Hara and her feisty characters.
RIP Maureen O'Hara. You brought much happiness to my life.
Gosh, it's so sad that they wait this long and the poor lady can't even get the speech right and enjoy herself. Shame on Oscar for doing this!
Yeap they just should have left her to say whatever she wanted or just simple Thanks! :) Agree!
+TheTerryE I think she has a problem with her speech from suffering a stroke back in 2005. The stroke might also be the reason she now uses a wheelchair to get around. Can anyone shed some light on this?
+Joseph Mullin Her problems are over now. She has moved on to greener pastures.

@@georgefoster1241 May she RIP.
Congratulations, Maureen O’Hara is and will always be a CLASS act and a truly amazing woman. God bless.
Still beautiful. Amazing woman and amazing actress. We love you.
Something definitely magical about Maureen, well deserved, and you can still see that spark haha!
By this time, she suffered 6 heart attacks, had a stroke, developed short-term memory loss, and suffered from type 2 diabetes. I'm glad she was given her flowers while she was alive to smell them. MAUREEN O'HARA (1920-2015)
Why do you always cut the ovations at the Governors Awards?
Touching...and it is good to get (any) recognition while one is still alive and alert enough to enjoy and appreciate the accolades.
Greatest actress of all time probably best in The Quiet Man with John Wayne for me one of the best films of all time.
She should have won an oscar for her performance in the "QUITE" "MAN" RIP Maureen. May you be in Heaven before the devil knows your dead.☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘
Marvellous maureen o'hara, no actress can touch her now for beauty and class, bless her and Mr Wayne for the beauty of "the quiet man" 🙏😊
She should have been able to speak for as long as she wanted!!! I'd rather hear her Oscar speech any day than the long-winded speech Matthew McConaughey gave when he won his!
I love the way at 1:28 she says old devil, so irish
rocio dur
She looks fabulous for 94!! Astonishing!!
Pure Class......RIP..Truly a wonderful woman....loved her...we will all miss you and God Bless!!
So happy!! Highly deserved, talented actress, sweet singer and amazing Irish woman! I love her wit in interviews, brilliant.
Maureen O'Hara, truly the last female star of the Silver Screen and Film Noir era.
Olivia de Havilland is still alive at 99.
+MediaLover194 and kirk Douglas too
Danilo Gomes Kirk Douglas, is he female or male?
CAVALIERKNIGHT33 male. So much fame....
So deserved! She's incredible and it's about time she got this recognition. One of the greats
THAT IS A GORGEOUS LOOKING WIG!!! NICE COLOR!
What kind of crazy editing is this Oscars??? No viewing of the opening standing ovation and no closing speech ovation to this greatest of vintage Hollywood screen beauties. Not the first time these Oscar clips deliberately cut out the ovation for some stupid reason. Part of the viewing is to see her peers lavish praise upon her and what is seen as much deserved praise for 60 years in the film business. Continue to RIP beautiful Maureen and for all the classic films you left behind for us all.
This took WAY too long! She finally gets a well deserved Oscar!
god speed maureen you are with your friends again RIP
94 and still lookin great! Hugs to her!
RIP Maureen O'Hara one of the greatest actress of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Say a how do to the Duke, John Wayne
Maureen, it is us who are truly honored, by in some way, being able to share your presence. You & Peter were, for so many years, taken for granted by those in the industry who are supposed to be able to recognize true art.
Well said Theo, She is a true art and what a Lady! Love her! :)
Rest in the sweetest of peace, Maureen.
TCMs Robert Osborne interviewed Miss O'hara while she was in a wheelchair. He & The audience asked her questions & she answered them with no problem. They let her talk. She didn't need a peice of paper. Great interview. Why didn't the Oscars let her say what she wanted to say without that paper, for as long as she wanted to. She deserves more respect than they gave her. Like Barbara Stanwyck, the older she got, the more beautiful she became. Such class. Sadly, Hollywood is done with you when you become older, no matter how great you are.
Sleep sweetly. What a lady. And what an Irish Woman. RIP.
ABOUT TIME!!!
RIP. One of the last of the Golden era. It will be bittersweet watching miracle on 34th street this year.
I love that woman :) And this is one of the best moments in cinema history. She was so damn good. A fluke that she was NEVER nominated.
Stephen Cogan Wow - You're right. I knew that she never won an Oscar. But, I assumed she would have been nominated several times. However, It seems to me to be more than a fluke. She was and still is a strong and opinionated woman & maybe that didn't serve her well at awards time back in the day. I have no proof of this. It's just a gut feeling. Best wishes - Ted
Oh I'm sure it played a role. Sex back then had to play a role and she was no whore or party girl. That's why Wayne LOVED HER
But no question she deserved at least a nomination for the Quiet Man.
RIP Maureen O' Hara. You brought Hollywood to Ireland
So long overdue!
As a kid, she was my first big Technicolor favorite, and will remain the living legend of the true spirit of the red haired Irish beauty she still has; and what would be Christmas be with out ‘Miracle on 34th Street'
I will always love Maureen O’Hara
The Academy waited far too long to give this to Maureen, and the Academy never gave and honored Doris Day at all, either! She was the #1 box-office actress of the '50's and early '60's. Shame on Hollywood!!
Did anyone notice Maureen in her old age reverted back to her Irish accent?
Miss Maureen O' Hara !! You had my attention from the very first time I saw you . Everything you did was so real. Rip . Just another friend !
No offense to the actors of today but how come people like Jennifer Lawrence got an Oscar after a so so movie and being the star of the moment after a popular kids franchise that lasted 5 minutes and Maureen, a true legend in acting who put her whole life into it only gets to see one in her final years?? Not ok. The Oscars have become so corrupt.
a true icon. i also loved her performance in disney's classic the parent trap.
the resemblance of her imagine towards my grandmother maureen o'hara's personality, the way shes, sweet, kind, her sweet voice both resemblance the same expressions a little bit, a whole lot tbh which is clearly weird "face impressions" face resemblance to ! the way she talks, / how she expresses is a lot like her i swear to fucking god the resemblance both images they both passed away both have the same name, is a coincidence how maureen is so similar to my grandmother means everything to me
RIP Maureen O'Hara (August 17, 1920 - October 24, 2015), aged 95
You will be remembered as a legend.
Just watched the quiet man on satellite just 2 days ago and sadly the same day as Maureen died. RIP Maureen O'Hara.
She was beautiful. I remember being a kid and usually hating old movies (unless they were animation) and seeing her in the black swan and thinking "damnn she pretty" and sat through the whole thing. I think it may be the first time I ever had a crush on anyone

Ah God Bless her! Beautiful to see her receiving the award! Love it! Went to see some of the Quiet Man movie locations and what a scenery! I also went to see the cottage and not much left just ruins and one wall standing! Well may be some years coming it will be restored! :) God Bless!
Clint was right when he said Maureen was the most beautiful woman in the world!
Class act. Beautiful woman. Love you Mary Kate.
This is an absolute disgrace the academy should be ashamed for waiting so long to give this lady an Oscar shame on u for putting her in this situation
Maravilhosa Dama... sempre linda ...vá em Paz...
Excellent actress and professional...of a rare beauty: face and body... is among the five most beautiful of all time...and a year later in 2015 he died... a big hug dear Maureen!
Shamefully long overdue but it's the right thing to do. Just look at where she was in those days of cinema! One of the finests.
We will miss you Maureen RIP
RIP Maureen, ar dheis Dé go raibh d'anam.
ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!
Maureen O'Hara is timeless classic magnificent legend who people will always adore.
R.I.P. Maureen O'Hara!
What a class act.....RIP, Ms. O'Hara......
i love her accent. class act all the way.
Long overdue!..... Shamefully overdue!
She was truly one Hollywoods greatest actor! Miracle on 34th Street I thought she was one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen.
As his mother in John Candy's Only The Lonely she was great.
RIP Maureen O'Hara
I've been doing some Maureen O'Hare studies for a movie history class, gone back to see her films. I was so shocked to see that she had never been nominated for an Oscar, not even that most iconic role in The Quiet Man. I have to wonder if her , no smoking, no drinking, no sexual escapades had anything to do with that?
John Ford nixed her Oscar. Read about it in her autobiography 'Tis Herself.
Maureen was a great friend of John Wayne's. But he wasn't liked for hes political views by some. So maybe that might have had something to do with Maureen not getting a nomination or getting an oscar. She should have got one for Quite Man.
RIP O’Hara 😞
RIP .... dear
Amazing lady, you will always have a place in my heart.
Watching Sinbad and Sailor RIP Maureen O Hara
God bless her... she was great!
