I must have an old version of the BBC dvds, because I’ve never seen these before! I grew up with these versions, and even though I used to giggle at the special effects as a kid, I appreciate them much more now, and even more so because of how loyal this version was to the books. It’s a shame there were no Silver Chair outtakes, though. Tom Baker’s Puddleglum is a riot 😆
I was born in 1988, and as a kid, I loved the BBC series and the 05 adaptation, but I think for an adaptation to do justice to the books, a TV series is the best option. Netflix said they were working on one, but I'm pretty sure it's stuck in development hell. I'm not even sure if Netflix still has the rights from the Lewis estate. Some things from this particular version haven't aged very well, but I don't care. They did the best with what they had for the time and that's what I enjoy about it. There were matte paintings, composites, animatronics, animated characters interacting with live actors, scale models, a great wardrobe department, a wonderful score, and practical effects. Everything now is just CGI. I'm not criticizing the recent SFX/CG work on the recent Narnia movies, but computer graphics should only be used to enhance a scene. They really don't age well over time.
Completely agree with you, even the first movie was was not very good in my opinion .I couldn't even make it through. Just doesn't feel magic compared to the TV series
Nope. The 2005 film is really the only adaptation that achieved the magic of Narnia. The cartoon, BBC, 2008 and 2010 projects missed the mark quite a bit. Although I do quite like the BBC Silver Chair. The other BBC projects suck so much. Especially the first two
Not entirely the narnia booka doesnt explain entirely lucys visit with tumnus for the second time when tumnus let her go but bbc goes more in depth of their second meetinc
@@thefonzkiss I think the reason I called it a film was because we only had the first book/film on vhs and as a kid it felt like a film. We might of had the second episode/film but as a kid I never them as connected.
Considering the low budget and limited effects of the time, they certainly did a very respectable job. I also love how Barbara was clearly having a blast getting to play so over-the-top evil.
The centaur actor actually is kind of impressive having to fit the movements of a horse at a high speed then immediately do that speech. While not being completely tired out is very impressive.
I do somewhere have an interview with her and the woman who played the white which. I may post that at some point if anyone is interested in seeing it.
I know a lot of people hate the BBC version, but I think there’s a charm to it’s low budget and corny special effects. Perhaps maybe it’s a combination of the following: • it’s more faithful to the books nearly word for word • the Barbara Kellerman’s performance of the White Witch, as over the top as it is, it’s refreshingly satisfying because of how unintentionally funny it can be as an adult (as a kid she scared the shit out of me). • the voice and look of Aslan is just perfect • there’s some whimsical charm to the setting • it keeps the Christian themed that CS Lewis wanted
when I see the bloopers of the disney's version of narnia there are only a few scenes in it which made me laugh. But this. It kept me laughing the whole time. thanks for posting this echelonslostangel
Musicalsgal2007, thank you. I respect you for apprecaiting my opinon, because so many people would (and have) given me a thumbs-down and called me a stupid-head for expressing my love for the newer movies on a bbc video. So thank you very much; that was kind and very mature of you. Best wishes, lovetolovefairytales
I need there to be a blooper where Maugrims actor laughs and talks normally of something. Because I am still shit scared of him. And if I saw him as a human and not the traumatic werewolf he is, I may get over my fear
@YemeniteChanter i was quite serious. where is 'old' Zealand. I know where most of the "news" are like York, Jersey, Hampshire, Caledonia and South Wales, but I've never heard of Zealand.
@inandish i quite like her. i suppose she takes some getting used to, not being anyones typical idea of what Lucy is supposed to look like but alright.
The BBC version was charming but it suffered from the obvious limits it had like the giant animals costumes and the cartoon creatures interacting with live action people...and some bad acting. The disney trilogy was epic but deviated too much from the book. Overall im afraid the animated film is the ultimate adaptation of the story. It may be bad but it follows the story right and at least the characters are...''proper''

Low budget and pretty old now, but this series had a wonderful, magical charm about it that the movies never quite managed to achieve.
The first movie achieved it. The other two perhaps not

It had a very large budget.

For a second I thought, Aslan was a real lion!! Funny clip!! I love it when a series is made by people who really love what they are creating!!
I love the BBC version, it basically goes word for word with the books.
My absolute favorite!
@@emilinebelle7811 Mine too!
Still boring compared to the books.

my god the beaver yelling when he falls over made me laugh so hard
Same
How they did the centaur was rather innovative for it's time
Honestly one of the best effects of the series. Not pretending it's great, but it's not horrible at all and I've been in VFX for 20 years.
I wonder if this was how they did the centaurs in the Hercules and Xena shows back in the 90’s.......
Aww, we never got to see the BBC Lucy off-camera. She is too cute! I love it when she was punching the air! lol ^^
So cute, Barbara Kellerman grinning impishly when her crown fell off!
It actually looks like really good VFX and believable. There is something I do love about the puppetry and costumes in this film.
Ain’t a film it’s a six part series.

1:05-1:06. Love the White Witch's reaction when her crown falls off. So funny.
The centaur actor actually is kind of impressive having to fit the movements of a horse at a high speed then immediately do that speech. While not being completely tired out is very impressive.
i didn't know this had bloopers...thanks!!!
The eagle at the end - "Cut!" was priceless.
I never realised how hard it is to be a beaver...
XD
lolzzz
DAM!
the beaver falling over hahaha hilarious, that funny noise he made...Mr Beaver wheres Mrs Beaver when u need her :-)
I do somewhere have an interview with her and the woman who played the white which. I may post that at some point if anyone is interested in seeing it.
YES
Yes please! I LOVED Barbara Kellerman!
1:08
*here lies Mr. Beaver*
He did great things
(Queue the sad music)
You know you've got Narnia on the brain when you think it's the HORSE saying "woah"!

How fun! Outtakes are great!
Best version by a mile.

They call them Beaver Retrievers
1:45 after asland made Narnia he was like:

I felt the same way about the White Witch. She gave me nightmares. And Maugrim's growl is terrifying
So cool and magical to see!
@Takura87 they come from the box set of all the dvds with a special features dvd too
This makes me so happy
1:49 Aslan doing the classic lion roar
I remember these! Great! I have the boxset from the BBC's version!
Love when Aslan Sleeps!
they say in the reunion (which i have posted) that half the time the 'snow' was actually soap suds and bubbles!
"NAAAAAAAAk!!"
That's on the most recent DVD release. It's a neat clip.
Somebody oughtta use the scene with Aslan in the nightcap for The Lion Sleeps Tonight! 🦁🛌💤
I love it when the beavers fall over. :D
naaaaaakkkk!!!!! haha love it when mr beaver falls over.
You know, I find it a shame that the Aslan they used was actually lost forever within the set...
Maddie Aw man! :( I marvel at how real he looked!
Wait, really?
I read on a comment that the girl who designed Aslan doesn't even know too where he is now.
@
Shift stole him to replace the fake Aslan in "The last battle".
That's almost as tragic as erasing the whole Dr. Who series.
Why does Aslan have more lifelike movements in the outtakes and behind the scenes?
I thought the horse right at the start was talking. :D
at 2:17 was I hearing things or did Jonathan (Edmund) say "I fucked it." pahahahahaha!
this scared the fuck out of me as a kid
@YemeniteChanter i was quite serious. where is 'old' Zealand. I know where most of the "news" are like York, Jersey, Hampshire, Caledonia and South Wales, but I've never heard of Zealand.
why didnt they use the hose and thawn effect at the start it looked well done
I love this :)
I can hear a lion roar!
@YemeniteChanter where is "Old" Zealand?
@putolinefourstroke you are aware that the "american" version was produced and stared Brits, Yanks, aussies AND kiwis.
Why is Aslan wearing a night cap on?
he's not dead he's just sleeping :)
Thankyou!!!
Actually, 3, 4, 5 and 7 are pretty funny too! :)
Can you link video of some of the other high end ones?
So sad, the actor that played Mr Tumnus, Jeffrey Perry committed suicide in 2012
😥
The grizzly beavers.
Cool! 8D Yeah, post everything you've got!
@putolinefourstroke american version?
@musicalsgal2007 I disagree. The true "Originals" were books. and I like the new ones!
1:43--VERY funny...
is this narnia? in the movie like they see difrond ;s
Outtakes are silly.
the last time i was this i was 10
The beaver looks like an actual beaver and not a person in a costume
1:11 You're welcome ;P
1:00is so funny 😂😂😂😂
🎥
3:17, sorriso bonito =)
@inandish
i quite like her. i suppose she takes some getting used to, not being anyones typical idea of what Lucy is supposed to look like but alright.
1:49-2:04!!! LOL!!!
“Sweaty hands”

Are you for real that was the beaver. their so fat and tall.
😂😂😂
Her crown fell off!

That movie sucks!
1:03--The crown is fallen from her head! (P.S. Aren't you overreacting a bit, Your Majesty?)
No offence to her but I like Gorgie Henley better
Edit:I forgot her name... Lol
Omg the beaver is so ugly, is like a big rock
i cant stand the girl who plays Lucy
Jokes!!!
