One Hundred Years of Solitude is my favourite book of all time, I'm so glad you liked it. I always tell everyone not to worry about the plot, there's no plot 😂
I also found that my reading aligns with Reese’s book club picks and I am currently making my way through all that she’s ever picked to see how many high ratings I get from them! Thanks for another great reading vlog ❤️
In regards to A Long Way Gone, there may also be a high readership because ti was a popular high school english book about a decade ago. I read it my freshman year of high school (while important to read, i'm not sure i was ready for it) but all that readership is well earned. Such a powerful story.
Lol I told you! Beware of the ants. 😂 What helped me for Hundred Years was going through videos where people explain the book in a more succinct way. Because as you said, the book really makes you feel heavy. And understanding it a bit more from people who have studied it, makes you feel a little lighter.
I’m picking up Something in the Water solely based on your mention of Good Girls! I love that show- along with Weeds, Dead to Me, etc. I’m excited to get into it!
It’s so funny, I’m watching this as I prepare my breakfast and we opened the lid of our big Parfait jar at exactly the same time, then closed it simultaneously too ! Whaou great vlog, as always
In college, a class I took was assigned One Hundred Years of Solitude. So, I read it so long ago, I can't remember the details. This was pre internet and even pre personal computers or - at least - before computers were widely used. There was no opportunity to Google anything back then. I had to rely on my fellow students, literary criticism, and cliff notes to try and figure out what was going on. Definitely not an easy novel but one with some beautiful imagery and ideas.
currently staying up past my bedtime binge-watching your content :-) i love your presence and have probably added 15 books to my tbr list bc of you just today!
Love this idea! The most read are not necessarily the best, but it appears that not all the least read are hidden gems. I just listened to the Time Suck podcast today where he did a deep dive of the Banana Massacre, an event that was mentioned in the Marquez book. Worth a listen for anyone who wants more info about it.
One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the best books ever writen. It is a life altering experience. I miss Macondo as if it was a real place I visited.
100 Years Of Solitude really surprised me. I wasn’t really feeling it yet I kept reading and then at the end I felt extremely moved emotionally but I couldn’t say why. Very odd experience
How you're describing She Weeps Every Time You're Born sounds a bit like it has a similar structure to This is How You Lose The Time War, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, or maybe even Piranesi. Those books also have a poetic writing style. I liked all of them but I had never heard of this one before. I also don't know if these comparisons work...
I’m so glad you read One Hundred Years of Solitude! I read it a few years ago and had the same thoughts. I feel like I will love it so much more if I read it again.
Totally off topic, but I think you should get into reading Ai Jiang. Recently finished reading Linghun (a horror novella) and Ai Jiang's Smol Tales From Between Worlds (a fantastic short story collection) and they both felt like something you might appreciate
Something in the Water was one of my first mysteries, and I really enjoyed it. I think it's because I didn't know much about subgenres and all of that stuff, but it was a lot of fun!
Maybe a future vlog in this series could be reading books with the same (or very similar) ratings (so all 3.2) or the same readership (all at 17,000 reads)
Unfortunately I was one of those 600 people who read The Marvelous........ I rly hated it 😭On the bright side though, I am also one of the 60,000 people who read Last Night at the Telegraph Club and it immediately became a new fave for me. such a wonderful book
With the little bit that you keep losing, can you paint it a neon or glow in the dark paint colour so it’s easier to see? Maybe that will help you find it quicker 🙂
Honestly, I've tried to read the one hundred years three times, four if we count that time in high school nobody read it, and I always gave up 😢 I just can't pass a certain point. I've read about the plot to make it easier, it's still a no. There are too many books out there to keep trying 😊
New subscriber here & really enjoying your videos! How do you read so many books? Are you a really fast reader or do you have a lot of time each day to read?
Yellowface is a masterpiece, you should read it soon. Also, have you read Penance by Kanae Minato (author of Confessions)? If not, you should definitely read it, it´s also brilliant.
I tried' 100 years of solitude ' audio book but did not know that there were different generations of people with the same names.....really confusing. Physical book would be better.
Oof, trigger warning for the Hurricanes 😭 #MaybeNextYear this is a great way to work through a TBR though, you could easily make this a semi-series and do one Most/Least a quarter
It may not have been the biggest “success” ratings wise, but yay for backlist and TBR reading!!🤗🤗
One Hundred Years of Solitude is my favourite book of all time, I'm so glad you liked it. I always tell everyone not to worry about the plot, there's no plot 😂
Just what I needed this evening ❤
Ugh same ❤
I also found that my reading aligns with Reese’s book club picks and I am currently making my way through all that she’s ever picked to see how many high ratings I get from them! Thanks for another great reading vlog ❤️
Kayla’s hair when she says she needs to wash it looks better than my hair on day 1

After a long day, it’s always great to see Kayla upload a long video to kick back and relax to
Or when you get excited to meet a friend who you haven't met in two months and you try to keep calm
Couldn’t agree more. I love the types of books she reads and her perspective ❤
Frr the best thing ever, I love how chill her videos are

Look at me, procrastinating in reading my own tbr. Thank you for this video! It's excellent as always!🥰
100 Years of Solitude: The family name is like "buen dia" - "good day" in English. You need a family tree to read this (like a lot of Russian books).
I would love a follow up to this exploring your favorite (5 star) books and seeing which of those are the most and least popular!!
Impeccable timing, I just put my book down for a break and now I get to enjoy a new kayla video ❤
I think Something In the Water also had high readership because the author Catherine Steadman is well known for her role in Downton Abbey.
Whaaaat ?? I had no idea she was a celebrity 😮
I’ve been waiting for you to read Last Night at the Telegraph Club! Finally! 🌈🌈
every time i am stunned when i look at your library, amazing collection
I’m so glad you read One Hundred Years of Solitude!

A Long Way Gone is definitely a book that has left an impact on me for a long time… I had to read it in college
Camri is in my indie publishing house/my friend!! Literally so cool to see you unbox her book!
Hundred Years of Solitude has been on my shelf for like a solid decade. One day I'll get to it. But not this day.
Ooo thanks for mentioning the podcast! I’ll definitely look into it ❤
Interesting place to see a fellow sucker 😅
A Long Way Gone is good and I’ve seen him speak. Amazing and moving.
Haven’t finished the video yet, but you mentioned yellowface so I have to tell you you absolutely NEED to read it asap!!!
One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of the best books ever writen. It is a life altering experience. I miss Macondo as if it was a real place I visited.

My daughter had to read A Long Way Gone in her high school class. It was very hard for her to read, but very eye opening.

I also don't know if these comparisons work...
For me Last night at the telegraph club had pacing issues. It was super slow for a very long time, and then it ends way too quickly.
I’m so glad you read One Hundred Years of Solitude! I read it a few years ago and had the same thoughts. I feel like I will love it so much more if I read it again.
I need a vlog of you reading old Reese book club books and comparing your ratings/reviews of the book
Totally off topic, but I think you should get into reading Ai Jiang. Recently finished reading Linghun (a horror novella) and Ai Jiang's Smol Tales From Between Worlds (a fantastic short story collection) and they both felt like something you might appreciate
Yes, I was waiting for another video to drop ❤😂
One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of my favorite books of all time, can’t wait to see what you think of it!
So random Kayla…I’d LOVE to see a video on how you do your hair! It always looks 5/5 stars
so excited to see what you think of marquez. we read him in grad school and his prose is too lush and clever for my smooth brain.
Something in the Water was one of my first mysteries, and I really enjoyed it. I think it's because I didn't know much about subgenres and all of that stuff, but it was a lot of fun!
The best mornings are when there's a new video to watch from you ❤
This was so fun, love this concept💕
Bite the bullet and read One Hundred Years of Solitude-big but so worth it!
my dad reads 100 Years every 15-20 years and he says it shows you different things each time
Maybe a future vlog in this series could be reading books with the same (or very similar) ratings (so all 3.2) or the same readership (all at 17,000 reads)
I love this video concept :)
also, I've been meaning to read something in the water forever!
Unfortunately I was one of those 600 people who read The Marvelous........ I rly hated it 😭On the bright side though, I am also one of the 60,000 people who read Last Night at the Telegraph Club and it immediately became a new fave for me. such a wonderful book

That's actually SO smart 😮
@@BooksandLala I hope it helps if you try it 😀🥰
So creative love all the videos lately!!!!

It’s not 😂
I had to read a long way gone for 9th grade summer reading!
I remember All of this true being so good. Maybe I would enjoy the marvelous if it reminds you of it 👀
You said Buendia and Macondo perfectly 👍🏻
Also in Remedios the second E is pronounced the same as the first.
Marquez wife told him when he send this book to his publisher that it better be good. Because she worked to allow him to write this.
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦🖐👍♥️🌳🌲🛣🚐🛣🌲🌳🎨🖼🧜♀️
Kayla, most of Catherine Steadman thrillers do well in my book! :)
Great video as always ❤
Last night is on my tbr for next month
I cant wait to read Yellowface! Also, does anyone know what Kayla's collarbone tattoo says? Been wondering for ages 💛
It’s a quote from one of her favourite songs by Bon Iver I believe
yeah it’s a bon iver lyric, it says “and the story’s all over you” 😊
I’m still impressed you read One Hundred Years in 3 days 😨
Oof, trigger warning for the Hurricanes 😭 #MaybeNextYear this is a great way to work through a TBR though, you could easily make this a semi-series and do one Most/Least a quarter
Get in, Bitches. Kayla posted a new video 😍🥳
TBR CLOSET VIDEO ❤
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on YA books that DO transcend age.
Yesss great video idea!
Fun video!!
Let’s goooo
Oh my god, Something In the Water was so messy, the plot twist... Why did it happen?? 😂
I think I am the only reader who hasn't read Hundred years of solitude
You and me both
Oh I haven't either 😂
💖
❤❤❤
i just realized you look like colleen hoover lol
If i close my eyes, sometimes you sound like khloe kardashian❤😊
