@@masterggiggelygiggsthekkll265 Not exactly. The game was a classic and Louisville (later had the championship taken away) had a guy named Luke Hancock who drilled 6 triples in the second half. That's not really choking, yokel. And while you Ohio State bumpkins have something to say to Michigan in football, in basketball you haven't been relevant in 12 years. Just putting it in perspective for you.
@@masterggiggelygiggsthekkll265 Michigan has also been to 2 Final Fours and been in two National Championship games in the past 7 years. Several sweet 16s and a few elite eights. Over the past decade I believe Michigan has the most tournament wins except for UNC. Back to back Big Ten tournament champs in 17 and 18. So yes, Michigan basketball is extremely relevant. Ohio State basketball? Hasn't done a thing since 2013.
It's a shame that the officials had to take this game over for Louisville. With officials not from the Big East, Michigan probably wins this game by 10 points.
They robbed Trey Burke with that call. Block of the year on the highest stage by the nation's best player. The refs are human, got caught up in the hype. Give it a few years, the BurkeMan will get it back in the NBA.
Jason Milly luke Hancock was a bum who won Louisville the game so you can’t say that. He had the game of his life off the bench. Michigan was a better team and lost to the refs
A lot of people hate on Dick Vitale. I think he's amazing. The best announcer ever. He's like a little kid that gets so excited opening presents on Christmas morning, but he's announcing basketball.
Love to look back on this every March before the tournament. Special moment in Michigan basketball history. We may have lost, but we put it all out there that night. Especially Mr.Albrecht. Go Blue baby!
As a Michigan fan, it's really hard to go back and watch this game. So many years of irrelevance. So many years of absolute mediocrity. To make it all the way to the pinnacle of it all and come up just short in such spectacular fashion was absolutely the most heartbreaking sports moment I will ever witness. Congrats to Louisville. Y'all deserved it as much as anyone, but that comeback was cold. Ice cold.
Ken Edwards Hardly. He lost all of his talent to the NBA draft in a 2 year span. He's basically starting in a worse position than when he first arrived in Ann Arbor. In time he will have this team where it needs to be again. I still think they are a 22 win team this year, they just struggle against physical teams.
Spike didn't play much but every time he did he was amazing. Kept us in the first Ohio State game single handedly and had 16 points in the pre-season game he started when Trey was out. Then he had his coming out in the Florida and Louisville games. He should be a solid player and team leader the next few years.
It's sad Michigan lost but they played really good. Spike with an excellent game. I thought Michigan would pull it out. 2 great coaches in John Belien and Rick pitino. Go blue!!!!!
I love Vitale and not just cuz' he got the same birthday as my mama. B-) His enthusiasm, even when its over the top, adds some air to the moment: "Survive and advance that was the theory against Kansas, man, they were really down and out. Made some big shots to pull that game out. I cannot believe it. This kid is just amazing me. Not just shooting the ball Brad, but he's changing direction, hesitation dribbles, around the back, where has he been?!!!"
This is why I'm not in love with Beilein. He doesn't adjust well. They should have kept using speed, and then add power in the post, but he wouldn't put the proper guy on Hancock. He had 3 wide open 3s, and that killed our momentum.
The crazy thing about this story is Michigan started both him and Burke in the second half but that kept the ball out of Spikes hands and took him out his groove. If Michigan just would have let this kid play they would have won game.
That 2013 UM team was loaded, They had 4-5 backups that were good enough to start. Too bad the AD Warde Manuel ran Beilein who took the basketball program from the bottom to the top of the BIG. He had deep tournament runs and made it to the final 4 twice. Now the program is back to playing for the NIT. Backich the baseball coach who won a championship was also replaced by the clueless AD. Harbaugh was happy at UM like Beilein and Backich until Warde Manuel took over. We're lucky he's still here, and it's probably the only reason Warde is still the AD. It's too bad he ruined basketball and baseball. Beilein did so much for that program and Warde treated him poorly.
@@marzzz1 - The violations didn't even involve these players. Every starter on this Louisville team was either already at Louisville or had already committed when that stuff started in 2011. That's what people don't get and why the NCAA made a poor choice. No cheating of any kind helped them win this tournament. Now, two key bench players (Hancock and Harrell) came after that stuff started, but Harrell only came after decommitting from Virginia Tech because their coach was fired. And Hancock, I highly doubt he did any shady stuff. He was actually in court fighting the NCAA to give the title back, but at least they gave the stats back...meaning there are still stats to this game that count, but the game itself doesn't count...makes no sense.
Michigan got ROBBED!! Imagine if Belien had been able to keep Trey in the game along side Spike like he did when he played Trey and Spike together against Flordia and blew OUT the best defensive team in the NCAA last year.....
They put Trey back at point guard and still started Spike because of his first half magic but Trey running the point took away Spikes groove and it also looked like Trey was jealous.
Actually, coach wanted to start him in the second half in place of stauskus but he actually took a shot to the head right at the end of the first half from Louisville which hurt him a bit
OMG I think this game the refs gave to louisville. When Trey Burke tried to block Luke hancock's shot, there was no foul. I love Michigan to death. They deserved to win this game.
When the refs put Trey Burke in foul trouble early on which never happened so spoke comes in and just sends it. Burke comes back in and spike cooled off then they called the all ball foul on Burke’s block on sivas
he should have fouled out early in the 2nd half. gr3 was going for a loose ball when Hancock literally held his arm and the ball went out. the bench was screaming for a call. not to mention when burke was out of bounds and Hancock jumped into him and got the foul called. and burke's block on Siva was clean. it wasn't Hancock, it was the refs that happened.
Dick Vitale's voice is annoying as hell. Much respect to the man on his career, but can the broadcaster get us some Gus Johnson or someone to liven shit up?
