Jackie was the greatest pop voice of his era. Period. He could sing anything from light opera to gospel to R & B to standards to pop. As a performer he had no equal. Thanks for finding him. Try "She's Alright (with me)", "Doggin' Around" and "Baby Workout", some of his R & B hits. Nothing like him.
Jackie Wilson. ....great singer and performer.....Elvis liked him alot. ....they knew how to bring emotion into a song...loved it....I also love his" Here Comes The Night" and "Higher and Higher " can't go wrong with Jackie....
The great Jackie Wilson in my top five favorite singers of all time such a great vocalis of course Elvis Presley is my favorite Jackie and Elvis we're very good friends in great admirers of each other's talents when Jackie Wilson got sick in 1975 and was in the hospital Elvis pay for all his expenses he really had a deep love and respect for Jackie Wilson and wanted to do what he could to help him Jackie Wilson is definitely in the top 10 entertainers of all time and has not received all the recognition he truly deserves he was a great dancer also a true legend the great Jackie Wilson
Mr. Excitement! Elvis saw him perform and said Jackie did Don’t be cruel much better than he did.. Jackie was with Billy Ward and the dominoes at that time. He talks about it on the million dollar quartet recordings
He didn't yet know Jackie's name! That didn't last long. They later became good friends. When Jackie had his circulatory collapse, Elvis Presley paid his medical bills. About a year later, Elvis himself died. After that happened, a young Michael Jackson heard of Jackie's plight and he began paying his bills. Michael mentioned him on Grammy Night in 1984, shortly after Jackie had died. It really got people interested in Jackie's work. Small world.
Thanks for playing Jackie king u know I live elvis but Jackie s voice and moves .I always loved and this song is beautiful .jackie and elvis wete friends and elvis used to watch him perform in Vegas.
The amazing Jackie Wilson , arguably the greatest live act possible on stage , you can plainly see where Michael Jackson got his moves from .. a force of nature !
He was SO talented! I can't think of anyone who could compare to him. And this is the early/mid 60's -- LONG before all the aids professional singers have today (auto-tune wasn't even an idea!).
Jackie Wilson was one of Elvis favorite singers on the video of return to sender Jackie is sitting at a table he had came to the movie set to visit Elvis if you watch the video Elvis is doing Jackie Wilson moves in the dvd the great performances it tells about it
Somewhere on RUclips (I know because I've heard it) is a recording by Jackie Wilson of a country music classic, "You Don't Know Me." It's the best version of this song I've heard. Of course, I've only been listening to music for about 70 years.
Berry Gordy used to write some songs for Jackie I think this was one of them. He started out as a songwriter before founding Motown. His bio was title TO BE LOVED.
@@joannedungan8381 I am sure some of them would say so. As a struggling songwriter he had to learn the hard way about the music business and how to protect what is yours. I bet they all go through it.
When Ed said that, ("of his race"), I spilled my soda all over myself! WTF??? I never heard such a comment on these old videos! That's how it really was back then. And this was in New York! This really shows you what the world was like then. And Jackie Wilson was MY PEOPLE! Ed could really be an a**h***! No excuses. As for Jackie, he's awesome as usual!!!
You should check out Johnny Hartman doing Lush Life.. He did it with Coltrane early 60s but only video I've seen early 70s.. How about Marilyn McCoo and 5th Dimension
Ed Sullivan was sooooo chastised back in the day by white tv producers but he didn't give a damn...Chubby Checker, Fats Domino, Jackie Wilson, Elvis so many greats got their first introduction to the masses on his show. No one would film Elvis because they thought his hip swinging was vulgar!!! So Ed said well hell I;ll just film him from the waist up.
Would you react to Jackie Wilson's "Georgia On My Mind" ruclips.net/video/LBZ3XFsIdog/видео.html or "You'll Never Walk Alone" ruclips.net/video/Wuv2EXbCRUM/видео.html please?
back when our great artist opened the doors and died with nothing, we must keep their memory alive, and can we stop bringing up elvis name with jackie, elvis stole everything from every black artist he could from

I wish we could go back to the days when performers took some pride in their appearance. By pride I mean dressed with dignity.
Preach
I was so blessed to have grown up in the 50's and 60's... when singers had raw talent that would captivate and audience and leave you in awe.
Jackie wilson "Mr. Excitement " ,"the man with the tear in his eye ", he was good friends and Elvis Presley

In my opinion he and Elvis are our 2 greatest singers. Please play Danny Boy by Wilson.
U entitled to that opinion

I couldnt help but mock.him
I never understood why Elvis seemed to have a grudge against Sullivan later on. Now I know why.
Check out him singing Danny boy and years from now
Apparently only his people loved him. I reckon I'm one of his people
❤️
