That's not true. It was a Wendy's that was torn down in 2013 and I have never seen it converted back into McDowell's. I tried bringing my girlfriend there to see it but they had the construction wall around it. I was crushed. There is another restaurant that did convert to McDowell's but it wasn't the original location in the movie. It was pretty much the first Wendy's in Queens (at least that I knew of) and I used to go there with my family all the time. After the movie was filmed, they had pictures of the cast in their McDowell's uniforms hanging on the walls.

"Coming 2 America" did just come out in 2021. It was a sequel, with many of the same actors. There's a Duke brothers in-joke in that film as well. Louie Anderson also appeared, in his final film role before his death earlier this year.

It wasn't great but it had a lot of nostalgia. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours especially in 2021.

The look on James Earl Jones' face when he says 'I know I do!' both devastates my impression of him and makes me laugh so hard that I have to forgive every time I watch this movie.
And the soup joke at the end... Always another good laugh.

When I was like 9.. Parents recently divorced, Dad took me on a Disney cruise. Dad gambled and played and had his fun.. There was a theater on the ship. I watched this 3-4 times in that many days.. 1989? still one of my faves
