As much as I love these two, it is very much disappointing that younger gens don't know as much about black cultural pasts or even actors that are staples in the film industry. Somewhat very disheartening. A lot of these actors that Jae says look alike, have no resemblance at all. 😢. I smh alot more than I pump my fist now. 💯 still love though.
That’s the cultural issue the old heads be talking about with hip hop. The younger generations don’t revere the legends like we used to but it’s partially the generation before them that didn’t show the youngins the importance in that. I’m a film fanatic so I watch all eras of it but I know some people that change the channel as soon as they see a black and white movie on.
"I hope he ain't give that money to the wrong people!" 😂😂😂 Y'all gotta watch "Trading Places" now to get why what you said is HILARIOUS 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
As a Cameroonian (West African) I enjoyed how they portrayed African royalty accurately. Kimg Joffe has that African king charisma and voice for sure and most African kings (and presidents nowadays) are filthy rich for sure. Also enjoyed how they portrayed the relationship between Africans and African-Americans too❤. RIP to James Earl Jones and John Amos and thanks to them for making my childhood memorable with this classic.
Fun fact: the two old homeless men that Akeem gave the cash to are the same characters from Eddie Murphy’s other movie, Trading Places. If you’re interested in seeing how their story went before they were homeless, Trading Places is worth checking out. Another Eddie Murphy classic!
1. They killed the multiple roles.🤩🤩 2. The appearance of the Dukes is called an "Easter egg" for "Trading Places.". 3. "If you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs",🤣🤣 3. RIP James Earl Jones😇 4. RIP John Amos😇
26:53 when you guys react to the movie "Trading Places," starring Eddie, Dan Akroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis, you will understand what that scene was all about. Btw, the old white guy in the barber shop was also played by Eddie Murphy too. My opinion, I watched Coming To America Part 2 just once, I've seen this one many times.
27:00 Those 2 guys are from a movie called Trading Places. It came out before Coming To America. Eddie Murphy played in that movie, but he was a different character, and it has nothing to do with this movie. Lol Let’s just say that they did some things and Eddie’s character is the reason they are like that. 😂😂😂😂 I’ve always liked how they put that part in this movie. Y’all should watch it.
James Earl Jones was born in a town called Arkabutla, Mississippi that only has about 300 people, and still managed to give one of the most convincing performances of a foreign royal that I have ever seen.
The fact that our good sis Lisa was wearing those $500,000 earrings with everything and wore them everywhere… LEGEND 🔥 Her style was so understated and chic af. So much so that the earrings looked just so casually there and almost felt like they were just extensions of her ear. Like she was born wearing them…. LEGEND 🔥
Wait...y'all havent seen "Trading Places"? 26:55 that is Randolph and Mortimer Duke from "Trading Places", another Eddie Murphy movie. I thought y'all already reacted to that movie, if not y'all need to watch it, another Eddie Murphy classic
the guy who plays lisa’s father starred in the original Roots miniseries and the James Earl Jones narrated the Roots miniseries in 1977, i seriously recommend y’all watch it but be warned it’s an extremely tough watch but it’s also a must watch for the simple fact that it is the story of our people…also the remake that came out a few years ago is good too, same story just modern filming technology
Some other Eddie Murphy movies that you might like is 48 hours series The nutty professor series The Golden child the Beverly hills cop series of course Shrek his stand-up shows trading places he has a bunch more but I don't recommend them all
If yall love this film you guys should watch a movie called Which Way Is Up by Richard Pryor, he pretty much inspired Eddie and Martin with the different characters
*YOU NEED TO WATCH THE CREDITS ON OLDER MOVIES* if there's nothing there cut it during editing, *(You were picking up on some of the other characters **#EddieMurphy** & **#ArsenioHall** were playing, but they show them all in the video credits)*
The homeless bums were Mortimer and Randolph Duke, which were characters in a older movie that Eddie Murphy was in with Dan Aykroyd called trading places classic you should watch it
Aww... somebody should have told you to watch "Trading Places" before "Coming to America." If you had, then the scene at 26:55 would have hit differently...!
OK ik yall only Pock Patrone ppl buuut, You Gotta Watch TRADING PLACES Now to Understand the "Pocket Change" Scene on the Date 🔥 Reaction to my Favorite Comedy EVER!!!!

My opinion about Coming To America 2 is I didn’t like it because I feel that they waited too long to make it if they would’ve made it maybe 4-5 years after the first one it would’ve been much better but this original classic one will always be the best
Ya'll should watch Trading Places, there is a throw back scene in this movie that's a part of that movie
Best OG Multiverse scene in black movie history.
definitely Trading Places you'll get the reference to the restaurant scene. Harlem Nights too
Yes Akeem's father is James Earl Jones. He passed away recently. He was in many movies. He even did the voice of Mufassah in The Lion King
RIP Madge Sinclair, she was Sarabi from Lion King too.
As much as I love these two, it is very much disappointing that younger gens don't know as much about black cultural pasts or even actors that are staples in the film industry. I felt something when they didn't know James Earl Jones. I know about actors and musicians from the 70s... I wasn't born until 89
That’s the cultural issue the old heads be talking about with hip hop. Both parents were actually the same parents from the Lion King
RIP to James Earl Jones and John Amos. Also the woman who played Akeem’s mother who didn’t even live a full life.

IMO easily a top 5 comedy. It's not just a black movie. It's one of the best comedies, period.
27:00 Those 2 guys are from a movie called Trading Places. It came out before Coming To America. Lol Let’s just say that they did some things and Eddie’s character is the reason they are like that. 😂😂😂😂 I’ve always liked how they put that part in this movie. Y’all should watch it.
Which is now full circle as Eddie is helping them back into business.

James Earl Jones was born in a town called Arkabutla, Mississippi that only has about 300 people, and still managed to give one of the most convincing performances of a foreign royal that I have ever seen.

Top-tier romantic comedy from the late 80s.. one of my favorites since my childhood. Eddie in his prime was golden in everything he did.
Harlem nights is another good one by Eddie Murphy

Paula Abdul actually choreographed the dance routine seen here. They also studied a lot of tjecAfrican attire to make sure they got that right.
The transition from their poor apartment to y'all place is actually great cinematography.
My fav thing about this movie might be that the heel does not get his comeuppance in the end, Darryl just be tripping and falling into some punnany 😂😂
