thanks for these exporting videos! I always come back to your export videos if I need to remember or adjust any of my Lightroom exp. settings! I appreciate it!
This was super helpful to learn from. I have started to implementing these dimensions and they are working!! My images are so much crisper! Your daughter is beautiful and a joy to see with working as a Mumma!💃📸
Your original Lightroom export video, 4 years ago was how I initially found you!! ☺️🤍 Also, your daughter omg she’s so adorable!!! Her sweet little voice- just darling!!
@@Joymichelle I know!! That time went by so fast! It wasn’t long after you had uploaded it, just a few months, cause I always search for “most recent” 🙊 when I search for something. But I’ve learned a lot from you in that time ☺️
@@kellyturnerphotography oh that is so interesting!!! Well that’s definitely one of the reasons why I knew I needed to make an updated version of this video
I typically do this for any social but technically Instagram and fb have their own sizing scales you can find and do a more exact export but I find it’s not necessary and this does the job well 🤷♀️
It’s awesome seeing you do this as a mother! How do you manage doing this and being a mom? I’m a fairly new parent (2 yr) and transitioning into doing photography but struggle to figure out how to do this any tips??
@@Joymichelle I was hoping I could ask a question. The pictures that I've already edited that are still RAW files, can I make a virtual copy and save them to a catalog folder called "Edits" at maximum quality JPEGS but later export them at different settings for the web or for prints? Thanks so much!
So helpful! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge!!! ♥️ One question - when delivering photos to clients, would the standard always be high res photos? Do photographers ever deliver a separate gallery for social media purposes? I’m super new to Lightroom & I’m confused about knowing when I should use high res. Vs. social media settings when exporting. For example, if I send high res photos to a client but they post them on Instagram instead of printing, will the compression ruin the picture? Thank you so much for any help!!!
Some photographers do, however you don’t normally need to because most gallery softwares allow high res download and web quality or social media quality without you uploading separate files
Hi Joy, on the PC version of Lightroom I don't have the option to disable the short edge for Image sizing. Would you recommend going for, "Full size"? I can select, "Custom" but then it shows Longside and resolution only. Thanks!
I'm not sure why it's not letting you disable that. Just make sure the resolution number is where you want it and the long side are the number you need based on the platform or use. You can do a test export playing with the settings and compare the file size to see what you're getting.
Great video! Thank you so much, but I want to know as well how can I get a PNG to be sized and it is not working when sending it to someone and what would be the typical width and height for something like that? As well as pixels per inch? Having a greater understanding of the different file types would be a great video as well ❤
How do you organize pictures by the time they were taken? For example when having two photographers and taking pictures simultaneously, once both memory cards are uploaded to the same catalog how can they appear by the time they were taken and not have pictures taken from 1 memory card for example at 5pm at the beginning of the Catalog and then the second memory card pictures 5pm shots go to the end of the first memory card.
In any view, click the icon at the lower-left corner of the Lightroom window to bring up the sorting options. Choose one of the sorting option from the pop-up menu - Capture Date, Import Date, Modified Date, File Name, or Star Rating.
It’s probably overkill and unnecessary for most scenarios but I recently started setting the PPI/DPI to 460. My thought was that most people first look at the images on their phones, and DPI resolution on phones goes that high on most iPhones nowadays.
Issue or major bug with LR Classic 2023. User's presets. Unable to get it working or set the parameters, and unable to display the submenu files settings (types TIFF, JPG etc.). I can only export to low quality JPG and DNG from LR presets. Must then import the DNG in a software as Darktable, and go on the right exportations ... What I miss??? Used to work for 10 thousands of pics with a previous (old) LR ...
So for Low resolution set the ppi at 100 and long edge or short edge to 1080. So the customer can’t print the image. But it will still look good to post on social media?
Yeah screens are limited in what they show so we want the 300+dpi for print because it’s literally able to show that level of detail but for screens 100 is fine
Gosh - why does Lightroom make such a simple thing so complex! It should be possible to explain this in one sentence but 7 minutes and 20 minutes are some of the time it takes to explain it all - shame on you Adobe
Photos I want to save but I'm not sure what I want to do with them I save as 16 bit TIFs, Adobe RGB. You can always switch to sRGB from Adobe 1998 but you can't do the opposite. If I'm off base here let me know, but it seems I have the most flexibility this way: I can make a print, or I can switch to JPEG/ sRGB for the web.
Thanks for the reply. I've just decided to create edited albums and leave the raw files on my internal SSD. That way I can create whatever type of export file I need when I need it. Also, if I want to print there will be additional editing needed depending on the printer's requirements. So creating, for example, jpeg files beforehand doesn't make sense.@@Joymichelle
When I open photo up in Photoshop, it shows that the image is 300dpi, 18x24. How do you suggest to save the file in LRC where it will keep the original file size?
Anyone know why I’ll edit a photo in LRc in my computer, then export, and view photos on my phone and the values look off. Especially with my blacks. I was doing some horror type stuff, and edited the photos to have subtle hints of light in areas so you can JUST make out the details. Then after exporting and attempting to upload to insta, I realized all that detail was gone and it looked basically like I cranked my blacks and shadows up to 100

Question exporting for albums for kiss design I need to check mark resize to fit?
I don’t recommend resizing for that I would use a high res file when designing and let the album software export the designs from there

You want to sort by capture date! Which can be changed if the second shooters time was wrong

Did you resize on short edge or long edge when exporting? That’s what you leave unchecked if you want unaltered
@@Joymichelle Hi! I did not select the resize to fit box. I have the resolution set at 300 pixels per inch.
