  • How the hell are you people doing?!?!?!?!?! Now that I've gotten the Sheer Heart Attack Debate done and uploaded, some random shit out of my way, and basically freed myself from restraints, it's time to return to my "job." Since the number of "new uploads" is getting smaller and smaller--I thought that I would start a remastering project that I've been thinking about for quite some time. I have pitch corrected and remastered BOTH of Queen's Newcastle 1979 shows. I will upload both shows to RUclips--and by popular request, I will leave the original audio on RUclips for both nights (along with the original description).
    The Crazy Tour has been lauded by fans (and still gets high praise today) as being not only one of Queen's best tours, but a common consensus is that this tour is Freddie's best vocal tour (which I don't disagree with). Particularly on the two Newcastle shows that were (thankfully) recorded, Freddie is ultra-daring on high notes (often hitting B4s and C5s on songs), and delivers some of his all-time best live performances! Out of the four (available) recordings of this tour, the second Newcastle show and Hammersmith 1979 are the most "popular" concerts. Although both of those shows are fantastic (especially the second Newcastle show), this first Newcastle show gets slightly overlooked (probably because of the quality, or the second night's popularity), and is super amazing!!! Although the quality isn't fantastic (though it's still listenable), the performances are most certainly are (plus this recording is complete)! This show easily gets on my top ten list, and is one of Freddie's all-time best shows!
    Freddie is in spectacular voice (and sounds SO CLEAN) at this show, and has no problems hitting some high notes (unlike the previous tour)! The rest of the band are in excellent form as well! Now, onto the song analysis...
    "Let Me Entertain You" has Freddie nailing all the chorus A4s (and throws in random high notes throughout the song for the hell of it), "Tie Your Mother Down" has Freddie slightly botching the lyrics--but sings an excellent version of the song, "Somebody To Love" is beyond epic--with Freddie nailing almost all of the key high notes and sounds superb overall, "If You Can't Beat Them" is a strong version, but as great as the song was on this tour--it can't compare to the amazing one from Saarbrucken 1979, "Mustapha" is very strong overall (despite Freddie slightly fudging the words), "Death On Two Legs" sounds awesome, "Killer Queen" has a fantastic vocal delivery--and is in the elite versions, "I'm In Love With My Car" has Roger missing a line (or his mic failed), but sounds great overall, "Get Down Make Love" is great (especially the final section), "You're My Best Friend" is an excellent rendition, "Save Me" sounds absolutely amazing and is nearly flawless (John Deacon just HAD to play a bum bass note), "Now I'm Here" is energetic and epic (plus the improv section is awesome), "Don't Stop Me Now" has extremely clean vocals (unlike the previous tour's versions), and is the second best version of the song (Hammy 1979 is the best version), "Spread Your Wings" isn't nearly as epic as the next night's version (which is one of Freddie's best live performances), but it's still an excellent version with great high notes, and "Love Of My Life" has great crowd participation (especially since Newcastle City Hall is a small venue) with an excellent Freddie Mercury vocal performance!
    "'39" is amazing and is just as epic as the next night's version, "Fat Bottomed Girls" is the first excellent live version of the song, "Keep Yourself Alive" is extremely good (with great high notes by Freddie), "Bohemian Rhapsody" has Freddie singing it similar to the NOTW versions (with the Bb4 "scoop phrasing"), but sounds great overall (the rock section is the probably the best non-C5 rock section), "Sheer Heart Attack" sounds powerful and beats the shit out of the versions from the previous tour (especially the damn Fukuoka version), "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" sounds awesome, "We Will Rock You" has Freddie completely nailing the song (which makes it one of the all-time best versions), and "We Are The Champions" sounds great (gotta love Freddie's sustain on the verses)!
    ENJOY!!!
    Note: I want to see a Newcastle vs Newcastle DEBATE!!!!! XD
    Note 2: Brian introduces the band after "Love Of My Life."
    Note 3: Freddie's mixed voice is so good!!!!
    Note 4: How do you rate this show overall?
    Note 5: Live Killers should've been recorded HERE (like what Brian says before "Love Of My Life")!!!!

    Vocally the best version ever, several Bb4s and three C5 attempts including one sharp.

      Stockholm is great, but Freddie hits more Bb4s here. He also hits two C5s and a C#5 in this version, whereas he didnt hit any on the Stockholm version. He also just sounds much more confident with his voice here than in Stockholm, where you can tell that even though he was in great shape, he was still a little bit nervous with his voice (probably due to the unpredictability of nodules).

    • @yc99official95
      @yc99official95 4 года назад +3

      This first Newcastle version is the best version vocally because he hits more Bb4s and one C5 attempt is sharp (in contrast to Hammersmith where there is one less Bb4 and the first C5 attempt is flat)
      But Hammersmith has better instrumentation, and if you compare vocally, they are not too far apart. So Hammersmith is, IMO, the best version of the song ever.
