Solid advice guys! i have my middle finger under like simple normal throw. What made me go up from 35 average to 55 average in few months is keeping the shoulder straigt not letting it down and throw in front/side of my face. In the beginning a did a more behind the head swing. And practice practice! i throw every weekend now games on dartcounter and if i have vacation more. See you in the next one!
I use all 5 fingers. Index finger and thumb grip near the end of the barrel and my middle and ring fingers are on top of the barrel and my pinky is underneath the point with the point of the dart resting on my pinky's nail. I've been playing darts at my work since march and playing for 5 hours a week then I decided to buy my own board for in the house and I've been playing for at least 2 hours a day since the end of September. I currently have at least 30 180's and my average is 45 and highest checkout is 158 but man darts is very frustrating at times and requires a huge amount of patience.
Great advice team, I use the nail on my ring finger to balance the dart. As Matt suggests I will try using my finger under the dart for balance. Also I have had dartitis for several years, maybe it will help with that 😊!
Great video, Mission Darts. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the amazing work. Your insights on grip technique really clarify the importance of release versus control. How do you suggest a player should adjust their grip if they experience inconsistency in their throw?
any advice i started off feeling good again throwing fast grip felt good but i hold my dart with two fingers and a thumb and the dart lies kind of inbetween my fingers and sometimes it feels like im jamming the dart between them and the darts are landing all over or feel very floppy
Could you show how to hold the dart if you play with your non dominant hand. I.e I’m left hand dominant but I play darts with my right hand. How can I make my grip as comfortable as possible??
Simple question. How do you make sure you are gripping the dart in the same place every time? You dont look at the dart so presumably you need some kind of feel marker so you know your fingers are always in the same place.
Nice video, but please make a video of where to place the point finger and thumb. Some suggests to place them at the balance point, some says behind the balance, some says in front of the balance.
Me too, my arm tenses up every time I pull back now, drop and twist my elbow. I’m over thinking everything and I can’t stop it. My throw has turned into quite a mess! I’m learning how to throw with my left hand and I’m catching on really quickly. It’s like my brain shuts off and I just throw the dart. It’s been quite refreshing. I can’t wait to hit my first 180 with my left hand. They just don’t come anymore with my right hand.
Very controversial subject the elbow.....we may mention it but it is not as important as you think, have at look at an image of Jimmy Van Schie a world class player, elbow no where near straight, it depends on your height and arm length, the secret is for it to be the same each time..
I've thought about this too but look at john lowe , arguably best throw technique ever.. Wayne Mardle has a clip on this and makes sense . Everyone is built different , arm length , height etc but its all about comfort and also your stance to be upright and solid as leaning will also cause your elbow to be low At end of the day you just want pivot your forearm and follow through. You will have a natural rise of your arm though when you do this . Imagine you have your elbow on a table and pivoting back and fore . Also MVG didn't do too bad did he and look at how low his arm is with his lean .
I always wondered why some people have to insist on gripping with only thumb and index on the stem more or less, when they have a 52mm barrel. It's like trying to push 20 shopping carts in a straight line, when a shorter dart would be more like 2 or 3. Could you maybe go deeper on barrel length for that reason? I mean, I have sympathies for a Lowe type short barrel and I can play drop shaped ones in general, but I always come out somewhere between either a Bristow or MVG type, an Anderson Phase 2, Whitlock 3, Clayton 2.0 or a PL15.
@@missiondarts Looking forward to that. Open for any advanced tips, rule of thumbs and philosophy, something to reevaluate the past 38 years from another angle.
I've been playing 11 months my AVG are around 65 to best 79 and all of a sudden my darts are flying out my hand so wobbly and it's been like this for 2 weeks and I cannot shift it...what shall i do buy new darts or stop playing for a week.
After 30 odd years of battling Dartitis off and on , throw consistency and grip due to this , I have reverted to a two finger grip I'm 54 now . Took a wee while just to get fingers and wrist feeling comfortable. I also struggle with low darts , obviously a release problem related to Dartitis . But I find the darts releasing better and entering the board a bit more solid . Now feeling comfortable .
I would say MVG , dont know if this is more prominent through his hand injury but his dart is almost pointing down almost 45 ° now compared to his earlier years . Stephen Bunting also .
Point down can help getting the dart in a better angle. Normally you grip at the back to get this angle like Gary Anderson has, but if you grip at the front, you can easily achieve it by tilting the point down.
You cant tell any individual how he or she should throw a dart as everyone hold s and throws differently..You cannot train a darts player also , as its either in a guy or not , ive played since 1974 and still playing .

Sharing the basics with my Son who is now getting into darts, thanks
no worries, we have lots of tips to come each week :)

It really does, I hold the dart the same as you bro and really struggling at the moment to find my throw again after a break and been so inconsistent.

Great video, im a beginnner myself in the darts world

Honestly why would you do this? I'm not judging just curious? Just making it harder for yourself surely?

repetition
That's a such good question .. pity about the reply 😮
@patricekarangaroa5507 repetition equals muscle memory which then becomes second nature. So correct reply but your misunderstanding.
Nice video, but please make a video of where to place the point finger and thumb. Some suggests to place them at the balance point, some says behind the balance, some says in front of the balance.
Can you do a video on how to keep your elbow from dropping when throwing? Struggling with this at the minute

2:13 Phil taylor always held the back of the barrel?
back of a very short one yes
Solid advice!
Your comment is literally 30 seconds after they’ve uploaded the video, how can you say it’s solid advice without watching the video 🤣🤣🤣
Think he wanted t be 1st :)

Taylor used three fingers
Thats debatable as his 3rd finger was touching slightly but not 'doing anything'

@@missiondarts I'd like to think the finger is for reference
Peter Manley literally held his darts only on the point with two fingers .
When he said the greatest player of all time famously held his darts with two fingers I was like wait does this guy think Peter Manley is the GOAT?
Thats funny
Gerwyn Price's dart point points down?
This is general tips for beginners, not one fits all
Yep as stated at the end, if the cap fits wear it, if not enjoy the next one..

Never seen a video, where the speakers don't look in the camera, just at each other 😅🙈
Taylor used 3 fingers for his grip he did not hold it with just 2.

Old man yells at cloud
I hold mine with 1 finger.
impressive
Can u make a video of it? 😀
😩💀
4 minutes to grip a dart? How long does it take you to throw the damned thing??
There's a difference between throwing and throwing well
Totally disagree, for example Stephen bunting pushes his point down and I do the same
What's the dart in the video image?

I hold the back of the dart and use three fingers.
