His timing is perfection. One of his tours, he always did a bit where he was a four or five piece band. The stage was in total darkness, except for a spotlight on a part of the stage where Lee would be miming playing an instrument, then the instrument would change and he would appear in another part of the stage "playing" a different instrument. I've seen all his comedy tours, except for the last one. He always does a musical number, normally at the end of the show
I remember me and my sister memorised this entire routine and now every time we hear ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, we just end up performing this. And we’re both in our 30s now, yet this song makes us act like we were still teenagers.
I've been to see Lee Evans live during his "Big" Tour. He's just brilliant. He always does an encore like this, or where he sings and plays piano instead. He's a very talented man.
This was the routine that brought him to the forefront of British comedy, but this is about the third iteration of the routine. It evolved over the years, but there was a rawness and originality to the first performance (or at least the first to be shown on TV) that will always make it my favourite.
I got to see Lee live, when he first came on the comedy scene and there were so many other famous comedians in the audience it was absolute magic. I wish he'd come out of retirement. Absolute legend.
I remember going to see Lee Evans at the O2 arena in London with a friend of mine. When he finished he went off stage but came back for this routine people were already leaving thinking it was over and not realising he would do this . I said to my friend don't move your gonna love this (cause i knew what was coming). Ive always loved his comedy such a shame he retired so early in his career but a combination of his manager passing away and wanting to see his family grow up he stepped away from the limelight. Wish he would come back for a few shows they would sell out instantly.
In an interview when he first started out he said he modelled himself on Norman Wisdom, I saw Lee in a very funny film called Mousehunt which was very reminiscent of Norman Wisdom Films back in the 50s and 60s.
Lee Evans is one of my favorite comedians, grew up with watching all of these. Unfortunatly some of his best are not on youtube like his "how to be a comic" sketch but if you search up his Live in scotland drum routine that is also really great. Some of my family have met him in real life and hes such a nice bloke too its not just a stage performance :-)
@RegenerationNationTV Hey guys, I’ve not seen you react to Bill Bailey yet, have I? He’s been famous for at least 20 years now and does brilliant musical comedy, while being a phenomenal musician, surprisingly good dancer and all-round intelligent and nice guy. The one routine that leaves me unable to breathe for laughter , although unfortunately lacking any of his musical comedy, is his description of meeting his hero, Paul McCartney. I’ve seen a few American reactions to it, but you are my favourite reactors, so I’d love to see what you make of it.
@@markthomas3130 I know Jess and Mike would absolutely LOVE him, and there is so much great content on RUclips with him, including WILTY, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, my favourite anecdote ever told on The Graham Norton Show (about a goose on The Mall in London) and standup that occasionally leaves me unable to breathe too (anyone else remember his sleigh ride in Lapland?). There are one or two other British comedians I wish they'd react to (including Joe Wilkinson and Romesh Ranganathan), but Bill Bailey is THE biggest black hole in their coverage.
I was lucky enough to see him perform live twice and both times he did this as an encore because it is so popular among his fanbase. He first came up with it when he was asked to do a short performance in France, not speaking the language he had to come up with something they would understand so he created this. He would also end his live shows by performing one or two original songs he composed which were always brilliant. Some of my favourites are, I'm a failure (might not be the actual title), 3 second memory and 6ft underground
Saw him years ago at one of his warm up gigs, unlike most comedians He didn't just leave the stage when the show was over, He sat on the front of the stage and met everyone as they left.
Lee is so talented, saw him live back in the 90’s at a local sports complex (Brentwood Centre, Essex) when he was first starting out and he did a version of this sketch right at the end absolutely amazing
I've been lucky enough to see Lee Evans ' live show twice He did this same routine but on an Arena stage ...3 times the size of the stage in this video and he covered every inch of it. Amazing.
I'm glad you are reacting to this great reaction glad you liked it and you should do car beaks down I can't remember what it's called but someone might say the name of it
Hi Guys, Lee Evans, as others have said, is a comedy genius, and has many more clips to react to. My suggestion would be, 'The Lee Evans Trio', which is available on RUclips. He is also a good actor too, appearing in movies such as Something about Mary and Mousehunt. I just love his commitment to everything he does. Keep on down the rabbit hole, you'll appreciate it. Keep up the great reviews
Lees energy and timing is unreal. Lee evans Trio is a mimed band. Asking for a raise is him playing 3 people. He did a full on play at the start of A evening with Lee Evans. Most shows he also sing at the end.
Lee was set to perform in France, but thought he would struggle with the language barrier so he came up with this routine in hope it would translate. Safe to say it became one of his most well known routines of all time.
Think the best part of Lee Evans I have ever seen is the romantic night in together featuring the Lets Have a Bath together. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I think it was part of his XL Tour.
In your spare time..he was in a film called Funny Bones with the late great Jerry Lewis from the US. Was a british made film about a shy boy who lived and worked in a seaside town and he just wanted to make people laugh. And alot of this kind of act was in that movie. Its a lovely little film to watch.. Lee evens also in Filth Element. He gets about lol
Did you know the 1983 song by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, 'RELAX', was Banned from the BBC. It was because of the real meaning to, 'when you want to come.' You should React to the Official Video.🧸🧸
Great reaction. He first introduced this a year earlier at the west end in London 1995. His way of communicating with the French coz he couldn’t speak French so he came up with something that the French would understand. His words, not mine. Classic. Please continue Lee Evans coz there’s so many to choose from his 30 years of comedy tours and your reactions as a married couple makes it even funnier especially when Lee talks about married life. Keep up these reactions 👍
great reaction guys, Lee is great, another music related video that's a must see and react to is Rowan Atkinson playing the invisible drum kit its out of this world
"Where do we go from here" PLEASE - - - - "WHEN tHE CAr BREAKS DOWN" - Never seen my Step Father in tears at comedy since Tommy Cooper. That's my best sketch from Lee ever.
Love Lee Evans, but the king of interpretative mime is Johann Lippowitz (David Armand). Highly recommend his take of the song Torn, best version is with Natalie Imbruglia herself (can only find it on dailymotion though)
I think he takes a lot of inspirations from the actor Jerry Lewis who was a very famous energetic slapstick actor, they even did a movie together back in the 90's (Funny Bones).
He does these lil songs nearly every live show, 😅 “There was a young man from Gotham, Who took out his bollocks to wash em, His wife said Jack if you don’t put em back, I’ll Stand on the bastards and squash em” 😅🤣
Every generation has someone in it that stands out as great. Lee is up there with Norman Wisdom and Charlie Drake of yesteryear! Lee is one of our very best.👍 You should try and check out a Norman Wisdom film if at all possible and you can see for yourselves why every one likens Lee to him. 👍
Old UK variety scene done to perfection, with Norman salutes thrown in at the double. But sorry no, while also dealing in degrees of daftness, in essence Lee's complex and wonderfully bizarre creations are on many whole different levels from Kramer, whom it has to said, regardless, I still absolutely adore. This was never a go to comedic style for me, at least until seeing Lee, a modern master in physical comedy, perform live. Wonderful, not a single person in the room could help themselves but grin silly and properly laugh
I was gonna suggest this as you did a few queen reactions. Lee Evan’s made a song fool flop failure. He sang it at the end of one off his gigs and I can’t find it anywhere only the audio is on RUclips. Check it out. It’s brill.
Please will you react to the song - To Sir With Love by Lulu.. this is a song Lulu sang for a the film to sir with love that she was in in the 60's.. I love this
H both - my first time posting but I really love your channel. If you liked this you should try David Armand - The Killers - Human (Interpretative Dance) from a UK TV show "Fast and Loose". Every week he dances to a different song but all are hilarious. Keep up the good work.
If you like this sort of humor, check out some of David Armand's interpretive dance videos - they are very funny and very clever. They were a regular feature of a UK celebrity game show, so there's many to choose from. There is even a longer compliation video out there somewhere.
if u like this please watch live in scotland it’s my fav of his stand ups. and his song at the end is his best ever!!!!! please please please react to it 🙂
Or a sped up Frank Spencer? Both do their own stunts / physical comedy. Both in movies. FS in Condorman and some mothers do ave em, and LE in 5th Element
I orderd a copy of your dads book , it turned up today , i only got to read the 1st prolog about Ted Nugent and the angel dust , my girlfriend turned up read the same page and said im taking that and reading it when i get home . bring it back in a few days x
That is so awesome! I really hope y'all enjoy it! Thank you so much for supporting my dad, it means a lot to him and to me as well! Much love to you both💜💜
When he pulls his arm during "mama" I always thought it was because it sounds a bit like "arm arm". And that's why he acts like he's just made a daft joke.
See this live at end of a show few times 😂end every live he did something different sing or act.start that show he fell through them step once best ones been too imagine 2hours comedy then this hair stood up he’s legend , you called him a monkey in one of his last shows starts as a monkey in cartoon
I see a lot of Norman Wisdom in Lee's performances (That's not a bad thing).
I adore Norman Wisdom
Spot on. I think Lee would have nailed a biopic of the the great Norman Wisdom.
I was just trying to remember Norman's name because I thought that too.
@@kingfisher_man I think Norman Wisdom was actually one of Lee's favourite and he took a lot of inspiration from him
I agree. It was my first thought when I saw him for the first time over 20 years ago .
His timing is perfection. One of his tours, he always did a bit where he was a four or five piece band. It's like watching Norman Wisdom on speed.
I've been to see Lee Evans live during his "Big" Tour. He's just brilliant. He always does an encore like this, or where he sings and plays piano instead. He's a very talented man.
Jess's reaction to Lee's " Easy Come " hand gesture was AWESOME! :)
This was the routine that brought him to the forefront of British comedy, but this is about the third iteration of the routine. It evolved over the years, but there was a rawness and originality to the first performance (or at least the first to be shown on TV) that will always make it my favourite.
Had the pleasure of meeting this genius a couple of times, an absolute legend. "Breaking down with the wife" or "colonoscopy" are hilarious.
I got to see Lee live, when he first came on the comedy scene and there were so many other famous comedians in the audience it was absolute magic. I wish he'd come out of retirement. Absolute legend.

Hey guys great channel
Lee Evans live in Scotland is the best..
In an interview when he first started out he said he modelled himself on Norman Wisdom, I saw Lee in a very funny film called Mousehunt which was very reminiscent of Norman Wisdom Films back in the 50s and 60s.

Oh yeah, and Jess doesn't need to worry about blushing, because he doesn't do smut at all! Plenty of observation and whimsy instead.

I prefer the later version when he performs it in front of a huge audience and its a better film quality, however I'm glad you got to react to it.
If i remember rightly he does a drum routine a bit like this and also a piano
I totally forgot about this performance, I was a teenager when I first saw him on do this on TV.
Can I just say I love you two, I live in Wednesbury West Midlands GB

Lee is amazing. Also, Met my wife playing squash at the Brentwood Centre.
Pure genius. Love it guys
Yay, more Lee! Tried giving some suggestions on last reaction but ended up just quoting tons of his best stuff, haha, looking forward to more!
Lee Evans ended his retirement four years ago and has since been active in theatre.
3 Lee's on stage is brilliant too,it's like Jerry Lewis and Rowan Atkinson had a love child.
