I think you made the right choice with the caravan. My 2c worth, see if you can possibly leave a small gap on the wall side of the bed to walk around. If you do, you will thank me every day when making the bed and whenever you have to change the sheets. It would also leave room for a shelf for phone and coffee cup on the inner side of the bed. I realise that every bit of space is precious in a tiny home, I guess it would be my priority if building out a van, but doesn’t have to be yours.
12 volt suggestion for you guys if you are interested. I would be looking at 2 x 200ah lithium batteries to run power distribution through the van. The weight of the two batteries would be roughly between 50-60kg which would not eat too much of the Aggravated Tare Mass (ATM) which you guys will be trying to stay under. Based off the age of the van I gather you would be stripping out all wiring and replacing it to reduce potential fire hazard. Then I would run semi flexible or fixed solar panels on the roof into an Enerdrive DC to DC charger. This will allow the van the ability to stay off grid more without needing to constantly source places with powered sites. The good thing with Enerdrive is that you can use house solar panels instead of 12v panels giving more diversity with solar panel options. If you have this sort of power in the van you can then consider things like induction cookers, 12v upright fridge, 3000w inverter which could potentially provide further weight reduction to the conventional oven/gas top cooker etc. It’s just a suggestion of the way I would attack this. Good luck with it.
Hello, my name is Freya i am eight years old and me and Craig my dad watch your videos every night before bed! I just wanted to say how much we love your videos! Merry christmas! From Freya and Craig :D
Good stuff, either of the Viscounts will do. I bought a 72 6berth Supreme in 2020 and improved it whilst recovering from surgery. Loved the project but did not gut it. Found only 1 leak and added new timber at that point. Switched all over to 12v and reinstalled a gas cooktop and fridge. Have had a few trips but now my wife is sick, so trips cancelled for the next 6mths. Looking forward to catching up on the next episodes, because it brings back so many long days and good memories. 😊😊😊😊
From personal experience if you are gutting it raise the kitchen bench height a little bit and standard height you'll bend over to the sink. I'd also recommend a full height dometic fridge gives you more fridge freezer space. Love it guys good onya
Hey thanks for the tips!! Will definitely raise the height of the benches! Also literally just said to Megan today I’m thinking a full height Dometic fridge would be better.
I truly admire your enthusiasm and outlook on life. You both share the same dream. Without a doubt you have a huge job ahead and I look forward to you bringing us all along on the renovation. The farm setting is so beautiful and calming. Your hard work soon turned the living accommodation into your haven. Congratulations on your purchase. So happy you went with the dual wheeler.
You two certainly like a challenge whilst not on the road. Have you considered not partitioning the van into separate rooms? It makes the space feel much roomier. Admittedly, our van is 21’6” with only the ensuite at the rear with a wall and door. The sleeping and eating areas are all open and spacious.
Greatcvideo guys! Just seeing Jack's Better Help promo you could see how much it helps him and maybe having some certainty of purpose and location for a little while seems like he is a good head space!
Before you install a rain shower you need to consider the water you use. Usually in a van it’s wet down, turn water off, soap up, wash off. Unless you want to stay in caravan parks and pay $50-$90 per night you ned to be set up for off grid.
Love the idea of bringing the old girl back. Be tempted to get rid of the split ac and put a caravan one in, bit better on weight. And probably 24v system with decent battery and plenty of solar.
Congratulations guys everything you are doing will be a great adventure and you’ll have some challenges but will make you stronger. I bought a Tassie lobster boat in Hobart while on holiday 16 years ago sailed it back to Melbourne trucked it to SA restored it people thought I was crazy best adventure I ever had fitting it all out looking forward to sharing in your new project every thing is raw and messy and you will make it great don’t listen to the negative comments they don’t have the vision you have
Cruise Master suspension perhaps?. Slide out exterior kitchen? Solar farm on the roof and big battery setup to run the aircon. Can go on and on. Where do stop? It's going to be fun watching the progress that's for sure.
Myrtle is a very Fitting name !! ... i reckon an island bed will make it so much easier to make the bed and if you have a lift up base on struts it will make heaps of storage space ... i would fit heaps of solar then use 2 chest type Engels with 1 as a fridge and 1 as a freezer. a 12V stove as well to get rid of the gas altogether.
Excited to see how your build progresses! Honestly though the ensuite needs to be side entry so that you can step into the shower and use the toilet when required. You will see heaps of modern caravans with the toilet / shower combined that I am talking about
Congratulations guys, have just recently renovated a 42 year old van with my wife, was a great project! with plenty of surprises and changes of plans along the way. Keen to watch this reno, great stuff.
Wow I love the shed to live in, great base while doing the caravan, that van will come up a treat, yes it’s a lot of work, but you’ll both smash it, take your time, at least doing it yourselves you will know every nock and cranny. Enjoy it all, be great following the build. Hope you’re using that new sandwich polystyrene for walls, so light and sound proof. Cheers Judy.
If your kitchen is staying there set up across the front have a 90 liter fridge freezer under the bench on a door side that you can lift the bench above the fridge to access the fridge freezer and when outside you can open a hatch and slide the fridge out for outside access. This will make space inside for living.
Wow you guys really lucked out in scoring that property , congratulations . After seeing the job you guys did on the old landcruiser this caravan is going to look amazing . These next lot of videos are going to be epic , cant, wait . good luck .
Congrats on the new van. Vintage Caravan Spares in Victoria will become a great new avenue to purchase original spares. Helped me a lot in my Viscount rehab. All the best.
Wicked I to said get the twin axle I know your going to do a fantastic rebuild of Myrtle, what’s it matter if it takes a few extra months apart from everyone wanting to see the finish luxury home on wheels your about to build.Yes don’t rule out that idea of extending her by 2’if that helps with the bathroom shower, rain heads use a lot of water might that be a problem if not on a campsite with hookup,I bought a shower head that has a venturi setting that atomise the water so cooling it’s brilliant.
Wow guys you 2 are full of surprises! How lucky are you to have the farm to base yourselves for the Reno of your van. Can’t wait to see your progress 😊 love that you chose the bigger van.
Congratulations on your purchase of caravan. But oh my goodness the farm is amazing - wow…. I would absolutely feel the same way about wanting a clean organised space to be in and what you did in a week well done again. I think what you’ve achieved so far is fabulous. I wish you a beautiful Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
I love every single part of this. I cant wait to watch the reno unfold and Im glad that you guys have got some space and serenity while you build your dreams. See you next week.
Looks like a beautiful spot….very lucky to have such awesome friends to let you stay there…..have fun with the build of the caravan…..can’t wait to see the end result.
🎉🎉 yay you got option 3 congrats looks great enjoy the renos. Love the farmhouse your staying at as well so good you have a place to work from you have set it up to be nice and comfortable xx looking forward to watching the renos.
I’m glad you went for number three and that layout Jack did was really good. Have a good Christmas and a happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing how the caravan finally turns out🧑🏻🎄
A rain head shower. I saw Jack had prob 10cm headroom, how are you going to fit under it. Let alone have enough water. Great pick of van n love the name Myrtle. Don't forget to keep water tanks equal sides of axels. You will need to make chassis stronger ,
Also don’t forget to plan where you are going store your batteries, inverter, dc/dc charger etc. Those old vans never had any of that stuff. Maybe under the lounge near the axles and if your budget allows (maybe your sponsor will help out haha) get lithium
Looks like a grand old lady! As a vanner of 20+ years a couple of thoughts for you - Check the weights of your car and how much you can legally tow with the van on and the car packed. This is going to be a fun 3 month plus project! You are both so pumped and ready for it. So looking forward to see what you do with it, and ultimately, where you end up towing it to. And you got a farm to boot...bonus! Have fun, stay safe, keep well, and have yourselves a very merry Christmas!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!! You are truly blessed to have such an awesome relationship and i know it takes work!!!!! I'm SO excited to see your project evolve and one of my things was to choose a big 12v fridge. I would think a full size is too heavy.....a dry bath would be perfect... i assume you'll have solar and lithium...... perhaps someone would sponsor that for you????? You are in such a stunning area too...... good grief. Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
Sincere congratulations 🎉✔️🥂🤗 So pleased for you guys. Enjoy your project - as we’ll enjoy watching you. We wish you both a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎉 2024 will be great for you 😁😁 Cindy & Col Casino NSW
Love the edits at the end :), and i have to admit i was stressing just looking at the caravan but glad you know what you're in for. Merry Christmas guys and look forward to the new year.
I’m even more excited now that I’ve seen this first video! You’ve already proved to us that you are more than capable of achieving this & I’m really looking forward to going along for the ride 😘😘
Ohh love the design for the caravan keen to see the small changes as you go, really cool that you’ve got the farm to work from. Looking forward to the build out guys ❤
Congrats of your lovely old van. She looks amazing. Just make sure that you put all the heavy parts over the axles. Watch some of the safety vids on RUclips about towing vans.... pretty alarming how many get the fishtails up when incorrectly loaded and I'm sure where you put the water tanks will be very important to stability. Lots of luck and we look forward to seeing how you go :-) Cheers Rob n Shirl
You’re the second person to say this!! So will be looking into this for sure! But was also thinking under that seat we could have put an electrical system!
Always amazing to follow your adventures guys ! This caravan has so much potential and I can't wait to see what it's going to become ! Good luck with all the hard work you are going to do. Looking forward to watching the next videos about this great project !
Congratulations, guys, on your purchase. So happy for you both. Project time, you are probably going to scram at times. The end result will be well worth it.
Put some serious thought into aero dynamics, at the front . Look at the shape of all modern caravans, there's a very good reason for that. Is the retro look really worth the excess fuel bill and towing ability.

Hi guys! How amazing! So excited for you both...completely get the "omg lookat all the cleaning" we lived and worked in outback Oz, the NT and WQLD for over 6 years, it was much, we worked around with a company and some of the places...pheeeewwww weeeee...lol 😅😅 Love the adventure you are going to take on, only one solitary suggestion, if I may...look at what people are doing in you tube Van Life anything, and camping/4wd (as you know) stuff and hiking as well. There is sooooo much awsome innovation going on out there and it's like they all never meet. Amazing inspo! we are currently building a CamperVan, bought an old Toyota SLWB and are crossing all of the things...everything in every different micro society makes sense. And there are peeps out there doing it. Have a ball! Again, how exciting 🎉 love your vlogs, thank you for sharing, as always 😊
Awesome, this looks promising. Also quite a nice place to stay 👍🏻this will definitely help with the mood during rebuild, if you can relax and look at the beauty surrounding you 😊
I think you made the right choice with the caravan. My 2c worth, see if you can possibly leave a small gap on the wall side of the bed to walk around. We have a split bathroom. Sink and toilet on one side and shower on other side, pocket doors on both sides that separate bedrooms and kitchen areas.
This is what we’re now thinking may be the way to go!!
Hello, my name is Freya i am eight years old and me and Craig my dad watch your videos every night before bed! I just wanted to say how much we love your videos! Merry christmas! From Freya and Craig :D
Hey guys, thanks so much for leaving a comment! Merry Christmas see you next year!!

Thanks Linda! Can’t wait to see it all finished! Yes it’s going to be a big job but it’ll be so worth it.
Congrats on your purchase. Looks like another massive project. What a peaceful place to complete the job. Have fun!
Thanks so much! Very peaceful place you’re not wrong. It has been great so far 👍😊 Merry Christmas!

Ah so now I understand how you ended up on a farm. I thought you started the van before you finished your house! You did a good job of cleaning it up.
Love the idea of bringing the old girl back.

That's an exciting project, I wouldn't put in a wall as it restricts air circulation.
Thanks heaps! Yeah we’ve already changed our minds on that one 😆😆
Cruise Master suspension perhaps?. Slide out exterior kitchen? Solar farm on the roof and big battery setup to run the aircon. Can go on and on. Where do stop? It's going to be fun watching the progress that's for sure.
All things we will be considering for sure!! But don’t think we will be able to afford that suspension! It would be nice though.
Absolutely fantastic. It will look million dollars when you’re finished with it.
It doesn’t really matter how long it takes .
❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching mate! We will definitely be taking our time with this one. 👍😊
I look forward to the build
Congrats and looking forward to your renovation!
Thanks Cath! Can’t wait to get on with the Reno.

Congratulations!!! For me, the double axle was the pick of the bunch!! I'm looking forward to the restoration process... (South Africa)
Ten outa Ten for enthusiasm kids, you’re a very patient man Jack, good luck.
Look forward to seeing the build,
Good choice going double axle 👌
Can’t wait to share it all mate! We’re very happy with our decision! Thanks again Dave 😊🎅

Great job guys!! Did you document it at all? Would love to see some photos. Can’t wait to start the Reno.
Happy Christmas! You guys must love kicking your own asses with the house and caravan. Makes for great content, eh?

That will come up a treat and touring with a van is going to amaze you how good travelling is.
Can’t wait to experience a new way of travel!!
Yihaaaa! Way to go! Understand the decision (although no. 2 was so gorgeous) Have fun with your project can’t wait to see what you do with it. X
Thanks Angela!! 2 was amazing but no3 won our hearts.
Mertle is the perfect name for your new home.
Merry Christmas guys! I am so excited for you that you have a place to rest and can hardly wait to see what you do with the van.
Thanks
Hey thanks so much for the support 🙏 🎅🎄
Looks like a grand old lady! As a vanner of 20+ years a couple of thoughts for you -
Check the weights of your car and how much you can legally tow with the van on and the car packed. Just because the specs say you can tow 2500kg, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can legally do that with a car which is fully loaded to its GVM. You need to become very familiar with the following terms-
Vehicle - Tare, GVM, GCM
Van - Tare, GTM, ATM, Towball weight
These are the Legal weights BUT you need to know your ACTUAL weights and be under the Legal values because these are what count.
The actual towball weight is included in the payload of the vehicle GVM-Tare and can be around 200-300kg
Google these terms for more info so you don't void your insurance and risk getting caught up with Transport. 🤠
You two crazy but lovely. Best wishes for reno and to next chapter
🙏 Thanks so much for watching 😊
This is going to be a fun 3 month plus project! You are both so pumped and ready for it. So looking forward to see what you do with it, and ultimately, where you end up towing it to. And you got a farm to boot...bonus! Have fun, stay safe, keep well, and have yourselves a very merry Christmas!
Thanks mate!! 3 month will turn into 6 😂😂😂 but once it’s all done we will definitely be taking it on one hell of a road trip!
Good to see you got caravan 3 hope you got a good price👍
So excited to get into the build! We think we got it for a good price!

Good choice only one suggestion to ponder is a bigger fridge perhaps. Cheers and 🤞
Definitely going to put a larger fridge thanks to all you guys leaving some brilliant tips! Thanks heaps 😊
All the best on the rebuild. If l know you two it will be amazing. You did your dads car a huge favour so no doubt this will be of the same calibre

@@itsJackandMegan - just checking that you guys are safe and nowhere near the bushfires???
Too cute we just travelled half way around Aus in our Bus Myrtle, named after my partners grandmother.
How good!! Love the name guys. 😉😊
Ohh love the design for the caravan keen to see the small changes as you go, really cool that you’ve got the farm to work from. Looking forward to the build out guys ❤
Congrats of your lovely old van. She looks amazing. Just make sure that you put all the heavy parts over the axles. Hey guys, yes this will most definitely be something we concentrate on! It’s all new to us but will continue to research! Can’t wait to hate more. 🙏😊
Omg how far from Esperance are you. We are here till September. We would love to come see you. We have a 1976 Bedford bus!!
Put a desk in where you said the second couch was/bunks location would be super helpful
Thanks for following along Lucas! We appreciate your kind words 🙏😊🎅🎄

Congratulations, guys, on your purchase. So happy for you both. Project time, you are probably going to scram at times. The end result will be well worth it.
Thanks so much 😊🙏 it’s definitely not going to be an easy one haha! But like you said it’ll be totally worth it!
Good luck ❤
Thanks so much Kim 😊🙏
Congrats on the new home. 🎉
Thanks so much 🙏😊
Put some serious thought into aero dynamics, at the front . Look at the shape of all modern caravans, there's a very good reason for that. Is the retro look really worth the excess fuel bill and towing ability.
it looks amazing

Hi guys! How amazing! So excited for you both...completely get the "omg lookat all the cleaning" we lived and worked in outback Oz, the NT and WQLD for over 6 years, it was much, we worked around with a company and some of the places...pheeeewwww weeeee...lol 😅😅
Love the adventure you are going to take on, only one solitary suggestion, if I may...look at what people are doing in you tube Van Life anything, and camping/4wd (as you know) stuff and hiking as well.
Looks like fun....
