The first opening is amazing but what really sold the song is a scene during ep 12 where the girl uses magic to turn herself into a Phoenix to travel back home, during the flight the viewer is treated to a special rendition of the first opening playing in the background with the acapella from the latter half of the full song near the end as she flew home and is an incredibility breathtaking scene
God, it's so good! She's finally a real mage. She's freed herself. She can do whatever she wants. And the series goes out of its way to make you feel that she's finally thrown off the shackles that were binding her emotionally. She can do anything, she can go anywhere, but she CHOOSES to be the Bride of the Magus, and the fact that that connection is 100% her own choice is what makes it really special.
I think Junna was 16/ 17 when she sang this? He should check out that 1 macross delta song she sung when she was 14 years old, which kickstarted her music career. I can guarantee you he wouldn't believe that was her age.
I watched this anime a bit after it aired and I had just been getting into anime at the time, and this show has always lingered because of how unique of a romance this show had. It always baffled me how it didn't have a season 2, and now that it's coming out in April it feels kina unreal
I absolutely adore this series. Absolutely stunning visuals and animation and a deep and thoughtful story. It has lots of dark themes but is ultimately wholesome. It is more emotion driven and not a lot of action. I really hope you'd react to the openings and endings of Golden Kamuy!
This series is freaking amazing. It's a dark fantasy romance drama. There's moments of humor, but it's definitely mostly more on the drama side than the comedy side. But this series is a 10/10.
The Ancient Magus Bride is one of my favorite more recent anime. It is so good. It feels like a fairy tale sort of story that can get dark and heartfelt and kinda has like a Beauty and the Beast feel to it. For another dark anime opening and ending reacts, I suggest Dororo.
Apart from the cool magic world which is the main plot, the show focuses on themes like death, lost of a dear one, sacrifice, and suicide each time from a different angle and how the protagonist slowly overcome her traumatic past with each encounter of these themes. Despite these dark themes and the sad moments in the show it's quite wholesome.
The Ancient Magus Bride is one of my all time favorites. It's insanely gorgeous and the story is very good. As someone with depression I also highly relate to the MC and think that she's such a wonderful character. The anime is actually very happy/positive in a lot of ways but it's also a romance/drama. Watching it for the visuals alone is worth it.

Read this manga quite a while ago not realizing it had an anime lmao honestly, as someone who read the manga first, id say the anime is an incredibly well done adaptation, which is kind of rare right now also its a surprisingly wholesome series its got a world of magic very much like that of harry potter
I remember when this one came out and I clicked on it not expecting much. Didn't know anything about it. Very quickly I looked forward each week to a new episode. It's an absolutely beautiful anime. From it's story, to it's characters, and the animation itself has some of the most beautiful imagery. The new season is coming out soon so I started rewatching just the other day myself. I think it'd be a great one to see you react to. Something completely different from the others you've been introduced to.
This show is on the slower side, but it is so worth watching. It is incredibly good. The music, visuals, characters, everything is very well done. It can get incredibly dark at times and is just fantastic, especially for adults who want a mature show.
This is a great fantasy anime set in modern day UK that uses folklore in its story and world building with fantastic animation. It is a dark anime that tells its themes really well but does not linger on those themes for too long as it continues to move along with the plot. Heard there was another season coming soon that made me excited to hear cause i love the world building used in this.
It's one of those highly underrated show that's goes quite unnoticed once the season passed but it's still good. It's a great fantasy romance anime that everyone should watch at least one
Love this anime so much, as a person with little interest in romance, I really enjoyed it! It definitely gets really dark and twisted at times, but it’s really beautiful! And I also like how self aware this show is, despite the description putting me off at first as a kinda creepy romance story between a young vulnerable girl and some ancient dude, it’s not about it at all! 😂I’d describe it as a very complex and unique character finding herself, her home and family, and helping the magus do the same. Highly recommend it!!
This anime is amazing, I highly recommend watching it! It takes place mostly in the English countryside, but also has scenes in other places, like Japan and Iceland. It's a dark drama, where the protagonist is actually suffering from depression, and a major part of the show is about her overcoming her struggles. She teaches Elias (the big skull guy) humanity, and he teaches her about the magical world throughout - which is largely based off of Northern European (including England, Scotland, and Ireland in here) mythology.
The show is amazing! It follows Chise, the red haired girl. She's the Bride of the Ancient Magus. That being said, she's more so his apprentice, learning magic from him. In this world, a Magus is something very special, someone who can use magic to enlist the help of Fairies and do amazing things. There are also sorcerers who do sorcery, you'll learn the difference between the two if you watch. It takes place mostly in England actually! Despite his looks, the ancient Magus is not evil. He took on an apprentice to learn to understand people. He and Chise do develop romantic feelings for one another and it is very sweet actually. The series does get super dark at points, but also has a lot of cute and funny moments.
WOW didn't expected you to react to this at all. This anime is so underrated and it's one of my favorites. It's a kind of anime that if you watched it a long time ago and decided to rewatch it again you'd realized that " Holy shit I forgot how fucking dark this show is ". Not to mention the 3 episode OVA. It is a romance of a monster who wants to be like a human and a girl who haven't been treated like a human. It's folklore fantasy vibe. It's a dark, beautiful, gory, lighthearted, drama and romance show that I definitely recommend. You won't get any hype from it tho it's not that kind of show, take it slow. Also SS2 just announced and I CANNOT WAIT
I found the manga for The Ancient Magus' Bride first, then the anime. I love both and can't wait for season 2 to finally come out this year in April 2023. The series is based around English and European folklore with fantasy and romance, plus one of the retellings of Beauty and the Beast series and a bit of Harry Potter. 😆I'm glad that you enjoy the openings so much! The first one is my favorite. 🥰
Also one hidden gem is "Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits" I love it but no one has ever heard of it! ame with "Heavens design team" and "Beautiful Bones -Sakurako's Investigation" And "Snow white with the red hair"!
"Ancient Magus Bride - Lindel Song FULL" Your often react to Op and END however you do miss out on some of the most amazing songs found only in the anime. Amazing song found in this anime.
Bro I can not stress this enough, this is probably my favorite anime of all time, more than Dr. Stone, more than Slime, and more than all the ecchi anime. As someone who watched Ghibli films growing up this is such a massive gem. The nuance behind every action between Chise and the world as well as Elias and the world, the emotions, the artstyle(oh god the artstyle), the music and the storytelling, I love absolutely everything.
Without spoiling too much, Chise (the red-head) has been put into an auction, after being so traumatized by her past that she doesn’t care what happens next. Elias (the GOAT-faced man) sees potential in her as a mage, and as a potential companion. Both work to fill in the gaps of what the other lacks, and a beautiful relationship grows.
Fantastic anime, when I saw this it reminded me of Studio Ghibli because of the wonderful and beautiful art and animation. The second opening is by AKINO with Bless4, they are amazing and I highly recommend them. I recommend you check out the openings and endings of The Case Study of Vanitas.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH AND THE FIRST OPENING IS A BANGER I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE REACTING TO IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- ... Sorry about that, I was gushing a bit. This show is absolutely fantastic, and one of the most elegantly executed "Fantasy in modern times" stories I know of. It's set in England, so you might recognize a lot of the folklore the creatures in the show are based on. Would be really interesting to see you react to it! As usual, mandatory plug for Made in Abyss' OST song "Hanezeve Caradhina", beautiful song and no spoiler! My classes always overlap perfectly with your streams so I can never vote for it tho T_T
I recommend Lindels Song "Iruna Etelero" which is a song out of this show (The Ancient Magus Bride). Don't know if you should listen to it to it beforehand or while watching the show, but anyway I love that song xD
some dark anime with cooll op/ed: owari no seraph (ed1 is my favorite); dorohedoro (comedy but in a very very dark world) there is one opening, but 5 or 6 endings; shiki, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (both are horror anime); Darker than Black; Jormungand; Kuroshitsuji; Guilty Crown (main female character is singer, and her voice will be heard throughout the anime); Kekkai Sensen (has incredible songs). Thanks for your reactions. (sorry for bad english, still learning)
If you're interested in hearing another song by JUNNA, I recommend checking out the Kakegurui Openings 1-3 (S1, S2, S3/Twin/Prequel Season). She did Opening 2 and I think it's the best from the batch.
This is show has such an amazing world and magic. The original soundtracks are all mesmerizing, and the characters are all a joy to see on the screen. The depiction of the folklore beings are probably my favorite in anime.
This anime isn`t just beautiful romantic anime but also it has traditional magic, not modern understandment of magic like throwing fireballs, magic here are rituals for every thing you want to do. Highly recommend this anime!
this was actually one of my first anime, it was recommended to me by my mates while it was still airing so it played a big part in getting me into the medium
One of my favourites anime of all time, it's unique and original the protagonist, the tempo and the vibes. One season, 5 or 6 Ovas and season 2 comming this year.
This is my favorite anime of all time. It's outstandingly beautiful in every aspect. It takes heavy inspiration from folklore in different places of the world. Some stories from western europe (UK mostly i think) and they even include someone who herds reindeer while wearing sami (an indigenous folk from northern sweden and finland and such) clothing which is pretty cool to see as a swede myself.
I really TRULY need to continue watching this I stopped randomly due to classes. So I forgot about it until last week, crazy turn of fate you are now watching the openings and endings.
It starts in Japan with the girl, making some quite odd decisions, and travels to England where she meets up with The Ancient Magus (Magus as in Magician / Magic) taking her on as his apprentice. I would heartily recommend this if you do a watch along of this as its got nice slice of life and quite dark segments as its based on some British folklore/magic Fae aspects.
Here's a little list of darker animes with really good openings: - Dororo - Goblin Slayer - Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - Inuyashiki - Kokkoku - Ousama Game - Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin - Another - Happy Sugar Life
This was the first anime I watched that made me think anime is something special. I was new to anime at the time and I absolutely fell in love with this show. It will always have a special place in my heart
ooh, I wasn't expecting this. Great show, can't wait for season 2 coming up. I still think watching the first 1 or 2 episodes, or even watching the trailors on youtube will help you figure out what each show is about. This, the whole show is mysterious lol.
This is in my top ten, easy. It flips from depressing to beautiful by the scene and I love it so much. There's a new season coming this year and I can't wait
Oh I highly recommend Kekkai Sensen and Kekkai Sensen Beyond (season 2) next please!!! S1 ed is a classic within the community! It was quite unique at the time and it was just a good pop with lots if fan edits. The series itself is quite dark tbh but the songs don't convey it that much but a genuine fun ride!
It’s been ages since I watched this but it’s beautiful and magical. Definitely check out the two openings and two endings of “Carole and Tuesday.” The songs are performed by the same people who voice the main characters’ singing voices in the show, which I think is pretty neat.
The show is made by Studio WIT (AOT season 1-3) . Before the show aired they released 3 OVAs about the background story of the Bride . And after Season 2 they released another OVA with 3 episodes so far . Also Luke finally heard a song from May Nakabayashi (OP2) .
Both OPs and EDs are freaking amazing. I cry every time i hear Nevin'e flight song. And Lyndell's magic song is full of hope and yet melancholy at the same time.
I do like this anime a lot, was even considering recommending it to you. I was so into it after it finished that I picked up manga that anime is based on. Definitely go and give it a try, it is worth a watch
Him: Why do these sort of openings just pop up randomly, are you just searching for random anime? Us: Well...no. It's just that we have seen sooooo many animes that we just can't remember them all. And every time one of us mentions a hidden gem like this one, we all say "Ah, yeah!!! That one!!! I had forgot, yeah, that's a good one, you must check it!!", and...that's how these "unexpected" suggestions quickly rise up in the polls.
Dark anime you say? You should check out Death Parade if you haven't already. Absolutely one of the best openings and a really really thought provoking dark anime.
This series is probably one my favorites of all time. The characters, story, and artistry just get me everytime. To give you an idea of the type of story your dealing with are some of the most important arc words "Love the world."
while wouldn't call the show dark per say, it's not a happy go lucky show either. it has moments of levity but also moments where it *does* get a bit dark. as for what skull the magus has for a head, it's a wolf skull form what i've read. also this is a shows gets *gorgeous* at times
All this anime is a true Masterpiece, words are few to describe my favorite anime of all time. The one I started with and the one I will never forget. Too good for this world :') ¡¡Viva Chise y Elias!!
WE'RE GETTING A SECOND SEASON THAT'S WHY IT WAS BROUGHT UP I'M SO EXCITED!!! I wonder if they'd shown Redcurrant in the OP's if he would have asked if this was a cheeky anime? XD
So happy you reacted to this! Please consider Kuroko No Basket openings next (and endings if you fancy a marathon!!) And Darker Than Black is another anime being slept on. Short, RUclips safe, epic opening/endings !!! You will like it.
This show is my personal favorite. Its all about old English mythology and i love that. Being an Englishman myself, i love how there are all the small details. The myths to the fking patterns on the seats of the trains. If u know, u know. But yeah this one hits close to home in so many ways and i Love it.
JUNNA is such a talented singer! to this day, it's still one of my favorite opening of all time. Wanna know a little fun and amazing fact? She was born in 2000, the single "Here", this opening, was performed in 2017... you know what this means. This beautiful song, this powerful voice, this *masterpiece* was interpreted while she was 17 ! Incredible 🤩
I do have a recommendation, also a really dark one with an listenable op-song but also an great OST There has been only a little to almost no attention at all for that show over the last year, deserves much attention, highly underrated in my opinion. "World End", other names: "sukasuka" or "What do you do at the end of the World? Will you save us? Are you busy" (dang those LN titles)
This is more on the serious/dark side of anime, not super dark but it is definitely one that makes you feel emotions while also think. I suggest watching it, may be a little on the slow side but the story and character growth is very deep.
I read the manga for a little while when it was first coming out. It was very refreshing: the market was (and still is) over saturated with isekai, stories where the main character travels to a fantasy world, but Ancient Magus Bride is a low fantasy, a story set in a version of the real world that has a secret magical underbelly.
Love this show, although I feel like it is better binged than watched weekly. The plot of the manga didn’t easily fit into episode-length chunks, so the anime adaptation ended up having way more cliffhangers that I don’t think were originally meant to be cliffhangers.
Thank you so much for have a kind of beautiful and incredible reaction to those songs like this, i strongly recommend you go and watch this anime till the end then you can find out the deepest and greatest story and desings and everythings in this anime, and in the end of watching this anime i can swear you weep so hard for beauties of this amazing anime. Now go and watch it..... ❤❤👍😍😍
This is one of my favourite series! It's deep and beautiful and I absolutely love it! I really hope you'll give it a shot! As for a recommendation, I know it's a bit of an old series by now but, there is one called "Higurashi no naku koro ni", or "Cicadas when they cry" as I think the english translation went.
This is my favorite anime!!! I LOVE it so much!!! I've followed it since the first volume of the manga! BEAUTIFUL!! As much as there are other anime showing magic, this anime in my opinion portrays it the best! And with the main characters Chise and Elias having character development throughout the story!
i cant believe i didnt see this vid when it came out, i love this anime, one song from it is that a character sings, i dont think its even in japanese, its called iruna etelero, every time i play it, i always sing along
ok something to note that this is different. it is about european folklore fae. there might be other anime about this but i dont know of any, this is why the music is so different cause they tried to go celtic. episode one explains who each person is so i dont need to do that. it is worth the watch and its short for now so a easy stream watch.
You're a brit right? Well, This show takes place in a sorta alternative timeline England where supernatural stuff exists. ALSO, it features the COTSWOLDS :D
I absolutely adored this anime when it first came out. I read somewhere that the second season went anime-only towards the end, which was kinda sad, but the first season and movie(there was a movie, right? I hope I'm not imagining it) was one of the best I'd ever seen at the time that I was watching it.
The series is just beautifully drawn and switches between really great "fantasy beauty" and "Dark themes", while taking a mature turn on old folklore tales. Absolutely "must watch".
The opening and ending, as well as the ost Requiem from Tasogare Otome X Amnesia are amazing. What I also recommend are the openings and endings from Kore Wa zombie Desu Ka and from Gosick
YES! Ancient Magus Bride's first opening is amazing, I am really glad you listened to it. If you want a somber and beautiful OP songs you have to check out Bokurano:Ours opening. The short anime opening as well as the full song are excellent and worth listening to! Elfen Lied's opening. An amazingly pretty and sad song. For such a great song you would think the show would be good XD Shelter, a anime short made by A-1 Pictures & Crunchyroll which I am SHOCKED you have not watched yet, I get tears every time I watch it.

This series is freaking amazing. It's a dark fantasy romance drama. There's moments of humor, but it's definitely mostly more on the drama side than the comedy side. But this series is a 10/10.
This anime took the Irish/British Mythology very very wonderfully. The art is beautiful, the story is engaging, and the music is godly.
Finally! This one’s a gem.
The Ancient Magus Bride is one of my favorite more recent anime. It is so good. It feels like a fairy tale sort of story that can get dark and heartfelt and kinda has like a Beauty and the Beast feel to it. For another dark anime opening and ending reacts, I suggest Dororo.
Yes! This anime is just so magical, I love it.
And I'd also like to recommend the dororo intros and outros, they are fantastic!
Judging by your pfp I highly rate your testimony to this wonderful piece of art.
Yo, love this anime. It’s so beautiful and interesting. It’s very slow and a lot of emotion, but feels worth the wait.

Read this manga quite a while ago not realizing it had an anime lmao
honestly, as someone who read the manga first, id say the anime is an incredibly well done adaptation, which is kind of rare right now
also its a surprisingly wholesome series
its got a world of magic very much like that of harry potter
That's bordering on spoilers. Their relationship and what he is changes and is revealed so slowly. A lot of the fun is guessing what is going on.
So happy to see one of my recommendations, I'm glad you liked it, it's a series that is more in an emotional corner and it's really good.
This is one of my all time favorite anime. I relate with chise so much and of all the monster men Elias has definitely won my heart easily
This is my favorite anime of the last 8 years. A real masterpiece!!! 😘👌♥️
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH AND THE FIRST OPENING IS A BANGER I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE REACTING TO IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Don't know if you should listen to it to it beforehand or while watching the show, but anyway I love that song xD
some dark anime with cooll op/ed:
owari no seraph (ed1 is my favorite);
dorohedoro (comedy but in a very very dark world) there is one opening, but 5 or 6 endings;
shiki, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (both are horror anime);
Darker than Black;
Jormungand;
Kuroshitsuji;
Guilty Crown (main female character is singer, and her voice will be heard throughout the anime);
Kekkai Sensen (has incredible songs).
Thanks for your reactions.
(sorry for bad english,still learning)
If you're interested in hearing another song by JUNNA, I recommend checking out the Kakegurui Openings 1-3 (S1, S2, S3/Twin/Prequel Season). She did Opening 2 and I think it's the best from the batch.
Magus is a term similar to sorcerer or wizard, though generally with more of an emphasis on sage wisdom and less on feats of raw power.
Definition for this anime is tranquility.
It has very beautiful art and songs. Story is pretty good too.
2:35
yea. you got it right
she is the bride of the ancient magus/magician
This is show has such an amazing world and magic. The original soundtracks are all mesmerizing, and the characters are all a joy to see on the screen. The depiction of the folklore beings are probably my favorite in anime.
The OST of this anime is really magic✨ A master piece. 2nd season starts in April!
This is set in England and is rooted in celtic mythology
I think you'd appreciate it more as a brit since you'll understand references and cameos
Here's a little list of darker animes with really good openings:
- Dororo
- Goblin Slayer
- Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
- Inuyashiki
- Kokkoku
- Ousama Game
- Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin
- Another
- Happy Sugar Life
This was the first anime I watched that made me think anime is something special. I was new to anime at the time and I absolutely fell in love with this show. It will always have a special place in my heart
1st OP by JUNNA from the Walkure, 2nd OP by May'n, both Diva from the Macross Series..
ooh, I wasn't expecting this.
The first opening is one of favorite anime openings of all time and WAYYY too underrated
This show is animated by Wit Studio who animated AOT (season 1-3)
Woot! I'm so glad you did these!
The intro has no business being so good the story so far is great too
Dark anime you say?
Too good for this world :')
¡¡Viva Chise y Elias!!
I'm gonna suggest Ranking of Kings. Please up vote this as the songs are so good!
I love the OST Iruna Eteluro(or Etelero) from this anime.
WE'RE GETTING A SECOND SEASON THAT'S WHY IT WAS BROUGHT UP
I'M SO EXCITED!!!
I wonder if they'd shown Redcurrant in the OP's if he would have asked if this was a cheeky anime? XD
This anime was pretty good. Watched it when it was airing and it was one of my favorites of that year.
Junna also sings songs in Macross Δ as part of a group called Walkure 😉
So happy you reacted to this!
Please consider Kuroko No Basket openings next (and endings if you fancy a marathon!!)
And Darker Than Black is another anime being slept on.
I do have a recommendation, also a really dark one with an listenable op-song but also an great OST
There has been only a little to almost no attention at all for that show over the last year, deserves much attention, highly underrated in my opinion.
"World End", other names: "sukasuka" or "What do you do at the end of the World? Will you save us? Are you busy" (dang those LN titles)
Ending 2 is my fav , i still listen to it since its release never leaves my playlists to cry lol
The plot of the manga didn’t easily fit into episode-length chunks, so the anime adaptation ended up having way more cliffhangers that I don’t think were originally meant to be cliffhangers.
dark messed up anime with great rock opening: "Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin". 100% you will like it.
Summertime rendering op's and ed's would be a awesome reaction
This is one of my favourite series! It's deep and beautiful and I absolutely love it! I really hope you'll give it a shot!
As for a recommendation, I know it's a bit of an old series by now but, there is one called "Higurashi no naku koro ni", or "Cicadas when they cry" as I think the english translation went.
This anime was beautiful and heartfelt. The story, the music, the characters. Nothing was wasted.
You should definitely check out all Fruits Basket Op and Ed
I've been waiting for this opening for ten thousand years!!!
Thanks)
I've finished.
If you want a somber and beautiful OP songs you have to check out
Bokurano:Ours opening. The short anime opening as well as the full song are excellent and worth listening to!
Elfen Lied's opening. An amazingly pretty and sad song. For such a great song you would think the show would be good XD
Shelter, a anime short made by A-1 Pictures & Crunchyroll which I am SHOCKED you have not watched yet, I get tears every time I watch it.
