I've been their. You ball your eyes out it feels like the worse thing you can ever imagine for along time after you can actually feel your heart be so heavy it's only been a few months now and the pain and sorrow are still strongly their but you need to carry on with life find something to look forward to find a reason to wake up each morning without them. Cry don't hold them in some times imagine them sitting with you haveing a conversation with you, keep a journal and only force myself don't let anyone else try and force you to move on it takes time.

This is such a beautiful and respectful interpretation of Gaelic folklore, keeping much to the high standard the series has set, I’m moved by the intricate yet considered way the stories of my ancestors have been retold here.

This scene resonated with me. My wife died young, and I saw this clip, man the feels... So, I started to watch the anime and it's really well done. I don't know how I missed it, but it's definitely worth watching.

The stronger her species has feelings towards a certain human, the faster that human will die, though usually, the brighter that human will shine as well.
Hence the age-old question: "Do you truly want to live forever?" For the vast majority of people, if they were being honest, the answer to that question would be a very definitive "No." ....Because what would be the point to life if all you ever had to look forward to was to inevitably lose everyone and everything you cared about....all while you lingered on and could only watch helplessly as more and more of the things you cared about were lost to you. Sooner or later that kind of pain, loneliness, and grief would drive virtually any intelligent creature mad.
My great grandmother lived to be 100....but as a consequence, she actually outlived her own son, and my grandfather (who passed away from cancer back in 1996, roughly 20 years before she would pass away herself).
No immortality would be becoming another life form. Not everyone could adapt to it because we humans are tied deep in materialistic things. I would first learn to be unattached by these things.If i would be immortal i would try to lead the humans to a peaceful world as an immortal ruler. And i would watch the apocalypse.

Being immortal is more a curse than a blessing. You will see humans repeating the same mistakes over and over again. And if it is discovered that you are immortal, some despicable power hungry people will imprison and torture you to discover the secret of immortality. And even if you don't know it, they of course won't believe you.
I'd say it's even worse when you're the one killing the mortal one even faster.
At first I loved the Idea of immortality because even though I knew that my loved ones would die and I wouldn't be able to follow them I always thought that I could make new family but then even they would live out their lives and die, it would just be a frustrating and painful rinse and repeat cycle. I think If I could I would just want to live long enough to see everything I can about the world and once my thirst for adventure would be satisfied I would die happily.
Well age does effect them in this world, just very VERY slowly. Silky also almost died as a Banshee but was changed into a Brownie (a housekeeper fairy), so if a fairy loses their purpose or will, they can also die.

I think this show understands Celtic lore and theology better than most mainstream western works that attempt to depict it.
Proof, they got the Leanan Sidhe (aka the thing people always get wrong) a little closer to right.
They are a figure of power, love and tragedy.
And the fact that Japanese animators inspire in these is proof of it.
Exactly, the Leanna Sidhe is not ment to be a predator or succubus but a tragic muse, perfectly depicted here, unable to help but fall in love but ultimately dooming their partner to a short life. It’s a myth ment to represent the intense bond of an artist with their art, even to their own detriment, an artist with much to make often has much to carry as well

Music and sound design in this show is phenomenal. There's silence for most of this to let you focus on what they are saying to each other, but just as he starts fading you can hear the music slowly rising to the foreground. Just as he's gone and they are both silent, the music takes to the front in a crescendo, the woman is lost for words as emotions overwhelm her just like the music is meant to coax the emotions from the viewer.
Perfect composition. Expertly made to pull our heart strings. This show is a work of art.
The curse of immortality. Therr is no end for you. Death and time however are not meaningless concepts. Time wastes all things away. Everything erodes. Someone who is truly immortal can not escape the constant cycle of loss so long as loss is a concept.

Immortality is similar to eternity. Unlike immortality you can exists physicaly forever, but can still be killed. Immortality on the other hand has a more close relationship to the soul then the physical body in which the conditions of the body can also be determined by the existence of the souls form. Gods are a great example of this, even if u destroy the physical body the soul shall remain even if damaged, it would still come back with time being It's greatest, and most infuriating ally. Eternity is oftentimes mistaken as immortality due to the similar traits both possess, eternity is an eternal existance that is no longer bounded by the concept of time being able to exists even if the concept ceases, but unlike immortality that form of existance only stands for the body, while the soul will dissipate, (depending on the laws of that said world) it will either disappear for good, or reincarnate into another existance. But the souls of true immortals can have a choice weather or not they want to remain, or sever their place in the cycle of reincarnation. GODS tend to remain even when their physical bodies are no longer able to Cope with the damage it sustained. the body can be recreated using the power of their souls as long as they are given time to recover to an acceptable state. Their are many form of eternity being mistaken for immortality due to the concept of self sustaining, but their are other forms of immortality that just don't need it at all.

Puts things in perspective I guess. I realized this show is clever when Titania was introduced. The Fae are the Fae. they are not us and they are made to seduce humans in every way they can. It's just their nature and we have to deal with it. I'm glad this show takes up this challenge of dealing with seduction instead of being just fan serving.

I don’t know it was the music or scene, or maybe both combined, but I cried when during this scene. It was the only time I cried while watching this show and this scene felt so bittersweet, like it was the right time for it to happen even if I didn’t want it to.

I also feel as though she loved him back, even if she didn't want to admit it to herself, writing it off as her nature as a Leanne sidh, if you think about it, she stayed by his side even when he'd aged well past what a leanne sidh would consider their "normal prey" young men

I appreciate the originality and that animes take a long time to foster their characters. I knew Chise would need more than 2-3 episodes to adjust, just like any real person would. Otherwise, it would be too Hollywood. I'd give this show the benefit of the doubt 9/10 times just for that.

@@colin-kun3611 Yeah, Leanan Sidhe like Redcurrant here all represent power, love, and tragedy. They have the power to take life, but they do not want to do so. They very often fall in love with those they bless with inspiration and talent, though this comes at the cost of drastically shortening the recipient's lifespan....and due to what a Leanan Sidhe is, they cannot directly interact with the objects of their affection as normal humans cannot see, hear, or touch them. And due to their own immortality they are doomed to watch those they fall in love with invariably die an early death. They're about as far from being evil as one can get, and yet, despite their own wishes and desires, they cannot do anything but doom those they love to an early death. They're a type of fairy from Irish/Celtic folklore.

Iron Man98 without giving to much away it focuses heavily on magic, mages, Sorcerers/alchemist (theirs a difference between mages and them in this world) fairies. Ect. It stays pretty true to folklore and the main characters chise and Elias as interesting.
