    Hi! Great Video! Thank you for taking the time to show people how to set stuff up. I just wanted to clear a few things in case anyone might be curious about the technicalities. 2:05 PPF stands for Photosynthetic Photons Flux and is simply a measure of flux in micromoles per meter squared per second - umol/m2*s - (which is essentially a unit of quantity divided by the product of unit of area and unit of time). 2:12 Micro moles are NOT wavelengths, they are simple units of quantity because light can be "quantized" in either units of energy (watts or joules) or units of quantity (moles) - example: one mole of tennis balls is roughly 600 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 tennis balls. PAR is Photosynthetically Active Radiation (radiation between the wavelengths of ~400-750nm) - essentially radiation that can "trigger" photosynthesis. The actual PAR wavelength range is "getting wider" as researchers have shown that UV (far blue/purple) and far red wavelengths can trigger photosynthesis too. Since light can behave as both a wave and a particle, PAR can be expressed in energetic units Watts per square meter or in physical units micro moles per square meter. Hope this is interesting for any of my fellow nerds out there! Cheers

    Gary I'm in a wheelchair. Would a tent be a smart choice, or with the wheelchair would I be better off turning my extra room into my grow room. I'm in Illinois, and a med canabis patient and we can have 5 adult plants and 5 starters at a time. So if I cover my room in mylar and set up vent system how big a led would I need to grow 5 at a time. I'm in alota pain and dispensary here costs 390 a oz. So I gotta start growing my own potent meds.

    • @PAHydroponics
      @PAHydroponics  4 года назад

      Hey there, you can definitely just set it up in a room and then you will be able to maintain it easier, tents are nice for somethings but in your case I would set a nice area up and maybe run an HLG 550 R-Spec and that would rock 5 plants. Hope this helps:) Gary

If so any recommendations on lights for that setup, I'd hate to limit my light output by dimming especially during bloom because I want to prevent light burn.

      A lot of factors play into that but I can say for sure that our tester ran it against a 1000 watt hortilux HPS with same strains and yield was only down 15% but used less than half the power! ( Hort was 1060 watt , HLG was 500 from wall) Oil production was up tho. In a 4x4 you should get over 1 P. Thanks for watching! Gary

    • @PAHydroponics
      @PAHydroponics  5 лет назад +2

      I like this better for price and I dont bash other brands, the plus is to big and hard to get around when Im moving stuff around like filters, light height etc. You have a good light and I havent seen a side by side vs the 550 but I do know someone from my store that said the 550 out did the plus but the even canopy coverage you get is a major plus?? I dont know, like I said in this video "people can drive themselves crazy trying to figure out what LED to buy" either way you should be very happy with your light :) Thanks for watching! Gary

      J B hlg sent both to a lab and posted tests on website. Per the lab tests the hlg outperformed the Fluence light. Personally they are very similar. I do like how the spyder spreads out the light better. Really better for a 5x5. Regardless the amount of light each puts out it’s a moot point on a 4x4 even in corners. Enough easily for flowering. Well
      Over 700par. Regardless the pricing on the hlg is hard to beat. I know even some of the Chinese boards and clones have done better in pricing. But reserve my opinion here as they are not in the same class as these.

    • @redfernsoljah

      Marissa Awesome have been experimenting with mine. Found that 40% worked really well during my veg. To keep all my environmentals and good plant growth. But now have been working at 75% for the past day or so on the hlg600. Seedlings and just starting veg you definitely have to turn it down. I was having signs of the leaves curling and drying up from the sheer amount of light. Many recommendations using a lux meter to get it right at 15,000 lux for veg. I had it less with great results. I am moving though to a par sensor on my hydrox controller to help automatically control my output depending on growth and environmentals. Good luck.

Pretty cool light, should be mentioned definitely gonna be using the dimming function. Ive come from hps/mh years ago and many benefits here. Long term costs are cheaper, less heat is the main benefit. But they are expensive up front. I do not see the technology though replacing this light totally within the next 10years.. the ratchet cords are supposed to work by being pulled down and the item gets lifted . then press of a button to release
    gary what's going on

    • @PAHydroponics
      @PAHydroponics  3 года назад +1

      I thought it was strange as well... after a little thought though... you are putting that extra downforce on the tent when you pull. When you lift, you lift the light at the same time taking weight off the tent.

      These lights are very intense. Some customers have stated that they have had to turn them down because the plants were showing signs of burning, so you are not alone in your observations. The technology has come a long way. Thanks for sharing your experience.

      @@mikestanley1979 yes i live in northernwestern canadien arctic. Its very dry here i could not keep the humidity at a proper level without causing my house become moldy. I have decided not to grow in winter. And just stick to spring summer and fall. I can bring in more fresh air and use rainwater. It gets -50c(-62f) here in winter. takes alot of energy to heat air that much. Sorry for any typos my phones screen is cracked, its hard to proof read.

    Side by side... spec by spec Spiderfarmer crushes those HLGs Spiderfarmer has a better spectrum those HLGs only come in 3000k 3500k (mid range)or 4000k...Spiderfarmer has a mix of the 3000k and 5000k which gives the light a way better spectrum the only thing the HLGs have going for them is where they made but they get their parts from China and just assemble here and mark up the price...bottom line is don't get fooled by these people and buy a superior light with a way better spectrum at a way better price...they have great customer service and a 3 year warranty so if you want to grow better quality bud get you a Spiderfarmer

    • @innocentbystander856
      @innocentbystander856 4 года назад

      @Wesley Pritchett yeah but if you get a HLG you either get a 3000k for flower or a 4000k for veg or a mid spec 3500... Spiderfarmer blows those out of the grow room hell that 4000k is a soft white and the Spiderfarmer has the 5000k which is more like sunlight plus they have the 3000k mixed in...HLG parts come from China to, they just build the inferior lights and use the fact that they are made in America (which is not totally true)as a selling point and Jack up their prices don't be fooled...I can show you a side by side grow and prove what I say I know for a fact HLG are just a over priced light and inferior to boot
