Excellent explanation and demo. In your opinion, if a stone is "blu-ed" correctly without painting, will have as much letter contrast as painting on the first day, or will it be worse when new but better in the long run?
@@-gravestonepros Thank you. Can a gray granite stone laying flat (not vertical or slanted, due to cemetery requirements) be blu-ed and good enough to be legible on day 1? Do you make and ship stones out of state?
Do you guys ever shape your flowers and leaves? We use metal shot to do it. I'd love to see a tour of your equipment in a video blaster, nozzles , blast room , etc Keep up the good work and videos.
@-TheGravestonePros- North Country Memorials Honestly, no lol I need more. I watch you guys while I work, and I'm always learning things. Some I've watched a few times. Keep up the good work.
Blued lettering obviously requires a little more care when finishing out v-sunk and deep carvings. But with that said, the process allows you to see the full depth and the beauty of the inscription.
Thanks for not blacking letters and carvings, sandblasting letters and carvings deep to a v you can spray with gray transparent litho if you want or let natural sunlight be your shading
So I am by no means an expert but when I'm cleaning stones, I always get the stone wet which loosens the growth and seems to be alot less abrasive on the paint and stone. Also with anything painted I try to only use a toothbrush, my thought is a toothbrush is softer on the paint and will hopefully preserve the paint for as long as possible
Sadly, single processing and paint is "cheap and easy". Very few companies actually take the time to do the correct type of engraving for any given color and grain of stone....such as deep-cut outline, frosted edge, polished edge. Skin cutting in any color other than jet black should be outlawed.
Thank you for showing the difference. Very cool process.
Your welcome I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
Great video, people who do there jod right are hard to find. Hope your video inspires others. Thanks.
That would be great.
Wow, awesome job!!! Thank you for sharing this vid. Learned a lot off this one.

Your Welcome.
Pretty cool didn't knows about that process!
Cool maybe give it a try and see how you like it.
@@-gravestonepros Could you tell me step by step how they put a margin on the base?
Great video!!
Thanks.
I like the old molasses and paint trick to respray the letter
I have not tried that yet. Maybe a new video to come.

Yes never as good day one but way better down the road.

@@woofinu Yes it can be done well. I have shipped small stones like that before.
@@-gravestonepros Thanks. Let me check with some other people to see what they want to do.
Excellent
Thanks.
Keep the bluing areas polished, then just hit it quick with any grit of sand and you’ll get that same effect. Steeled faces are the same way
We are talking about bluing in V-sunk lettering mostly. We double proses our steeled faces we feel that's the best way.

James we don't do shaped carving. I will be showing lots of the shop as we work on the new auto blaster setup.
@@-gravestonepros Awesome can't wait
@@jimmyrifle Have you gotten enough shop videos yet? I ready for spring so we can get back in the cemetery's.

Yes it does It makes such a difference.

We like natural sunlight around here. I have thought about doing a shadow color thought.
Great video guys. I'm gonna have to try some bluing soon, maybe my boss will give me a raise lol
I hope it goes well if you have other questions about it let me know.
When would you blue the flowers after it's blasted or before
@@jimmyrifle Bluing is done after.
@@jimmyrifle never blue your carvings you’ll never see them
@Michael Lamberton if you blast deep enough you will
What is standard grit for V-sunk and was the average grit for Bluing?
We start with 36 Grit and use the dust we collected for Bluing.

Yes it should be.
Ceramic tip get a carbide
Ceramic is just for Bluing we use Carbide for the rest of the work.
