Fun Fact: Peni Parker isnt synced up correctly in english because shes an anime character. We only get the dubbed version. In japanese, the animation of her mouth actually matches the words shes saying
How am i STILL discovering bits and details of that movie after 5 years? This is insane
WHAAAAAAAT im with RoboJean. how have i NEVER heard this??
That doesn't make sense, she is speaking with other characters in English, right?
@@Сайтамен correct. The other people want to feel special. It's in English dumb dumbs.
...WHAAATT?? Amazing
The reason Peni is so sad about the robot becoming inoperable is because her father built it, since he died that was one of her last connections with him.
You can see Gwen's Ballet shoes in the first scene in the school showing how she was already there looking for Miles. Also when she and Miles are stuck together she tells Miles "It's okay you just need to calm down" because she knows he's sticking because he's new and nervous.
She also intentionally bumps into Miles in that scene
My favorite little detail is during the sequence between Miles initially interrogating Peter B up until the jump to the Diner. The whole time the two are talking, you can see Peters face slowly healing, (because Spiderman has a healing factor). Its a nice little attention to detail
aye, nothing close to Wolverine or Hulk's but still well beyond any normal human, maybe around Cap America range
@@Rhodair from what I understand it is beyond the Captain. He's a bit of an interesting anomaly in the Marvel universe, you have the heroic types who win a fight and leave the person alive, the anti heroes who kill and the godly figures who either obliterate instantly or while making it clear that nothing affects them slowly crush people into submission, Spiderman is non of those.
Spiderman is the only character who pulls his punches to a extreme degree. There was a comic where his body was taken over by Doc Ock where the Doc realized that Spiderman could have obliterated any of them with ease but he didn't want to hurt anyone so he didn't. Doc Ock ends up becoming heroic in honor of that. On top of the fact that Doc Ock like most of the scientist enemies of Spiderman are basically just pathetic individuals crippled by their own experiments and not truly evil.
Yes Blue. The sequel is NOW in theaters. It's called "Across the Spider-Verse."
Well part one of the sequel is out now, part two won’t be for at least a year, don’t know why they split it into two movies when one long movie would have been fine, I mean people watch four hour long lord of the rings movies, I bet people would watch a four hour spider verse movie but am not a movie studio like Sony.
Ugh, that cliffhanger got to me like The Avengers: Infinity War
@@spikejr3113jr its a smart move on their part since it builds hype and, of course, gets them more money
@@spikejr3113jr I feel you should add a spoiler warning to your comment since it's only been out 2 weeks. Also the sequel is due in March (so far).
@@spikejr3113jrI think if they tried to put EVERYTHING in the first (sequel) movie… it would feel like… the pacing of the new Mario movie-- rushed and incomplete. ‘Sides after the original spider verse movie, they weren’t even going to make a sequel originally, it was through it’s popularity that they even made a second one! And then planned to make the next one after that! (Cuz like I said b4, it got popular!) I won’t spoil it blue! But all I WILL say… ur wish of “50 Spider-Man “ may be granted! 😉
Every time I see a reaction to this movie, I like to bring up that Peni was adopted by Ben and May Parker (Making her Peter's cousin in her universe).
So when she says that her father died, she's talking about Uncle Ben.
Poor guy dies in every universe.
I've been pointing this out for literally years, and now that the sequel is out, I feel like my comments were oddly prescient
No, her father actually did die, and got Adopted by Ben and May
Spoilers
Aunt may died trying to save her schoolmate from the Ven#m robot suit, both got integrated in the system and became one with Ven#m, probably the reason why she's so depressed in the sequel
Ben is still alive and is her only family left.
His father died, Uncle Ben died sometime later by the time she has a new mech and Venom appears.
@@justjuniorjaw that sucks, which issue? I must've missed it.
@@SilverCrow0101 Oh sorry, meant to say Aunt May instead of Uncle Ben.
That's really cool! Not the fact about Ben dying in every universe, but everything else. Thanks! ❤
I think I speak for all of us when I say that it’s no surprise at all that this won the Academy Award for Animated Feature Film! 🎉🎉🎉
Next one should win that and more
heres the thing no one asked and no one cares

The sequel is ... words fail at just how good it is. I'd say I liked the first one a bit better on my initial view, but a lot of that is because of just how layered and nuanced the sequel is. From scope to cinematography, artistic vision to acting, feels to action, and musical score to menacing villains, Across the Spider-Verse is pretty damned astonishing all around.
(I've seen it twice in theaters, which I **highly** recommend. Just to catch a lot more of the small things you might've missed the first time through. For example: color theory and use in Gwen's universe to emphasize mood and internal conflicts! There's an early scene where Spider-Gwen is being confronted by a police officer who knows of her super-identity but not her secret identity, and the backgrounds behind them shifts as they are torn between their feelings of duty to law and order versus their personal connection... **chef's kiss**)
I actually prefer the second even with the ending, first is still amazing tho, two of my fav comic book films of all time
It's really poorly written. If Miles is the original anomaly, how isn't his universe destroyed because he replaced Peter Parker and made different choices, and how isn't the universe without Spider-Man destroyed? And how can canon event be triggered by an anomaly (Spot)?
@@Сайтамен My take was always that Miguel's perspective is tainted by the events he went thru, which may have been correlated but not caused by his replacing his dead alternate. Basically, he has confirmation bias and is reading everything aslant accordingly.
@@Сайтамен It's not poorly written at all, you just didn't understand it. *Because* Miles is an anomaly, the canon doesn't apply to him, in fact, he can actively change the canon. If Miles didn't exist, and Gwen didn't meet him, her father would still be the police captain and he would've died. But because of Miles, and him finding out who Gwen is, and her speech to him because of her experiences, the canon changed in her universe and her father was spared. Because Pavitr is there at the end, it means his own universe is fine and not destroyed. And Miguel is too biased of course, as the person above mentioned, his view is tainted by his own experiences.
"I thought it was AI" literally no AI could do what this movie did. It changed everything. It's truly amazing.
This was arguably the best Spider-Man film ever made when it came out. An animation masterpiece, excellent music, action, plot, everything. A love letter to Spider-Man fans, and to the source material.
Across The Spider-Verse, somehow... managed to be _better._ By a long shot. In. Every. Single. Aspect.
Much like Spider-Man Noir with the Rubik's cube, I can't begin to comprehend _how_ they managed to pull _that_ off, but they _did._ If you can, watch it on the big screen.
It won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Academy Awards.
Jefferson asks Miles to say, "I love you," exactly because he's a police officer. He knows how dangerous his job is and that he could easily die while doing it. And if that happens, he wants that to be their last words to each other instead of Miles regretting that he never got to say it properly. This is mirrored by when Arron dies and the two never got to make up or even talk properly with each other before Arron died, leaving Jefferson with the kind of regret he wants Miles to be able to avoid.
Jefferson is the most underrated character in the 2 movies, imo. He isn't flashy, but every time he's on screen he is perfect as a dad who is protective, wants the best for his son, but can't get it across properly. He tries to keep Miles entertained on their drive to the school, repeatedly lets Miles know that he loves him, and really does want the best for his teenage son, despite the frustrations it brings. Jefferson is actually one of the best portrayals of a realistic father that I have seen in media. Love it.
Loved how giddy you were about it and especially Gwen, can't wait for the sequel reaction.
the first time Miles puts on the suit and jumps off the building at the end gave me chills.
One of the coolest spiderman scenes ever. Absolutely incredible.
No, they aren't electric "webs" Blue, it's his body that administers the bio shock.
So glad you enjoyed this movie. Your reaction to the reveal of Spider-Gwen was everything I could have wanted!
In case no one has told you yet, the meme in the after-credits scene existed long before "Spider-Verse" came out. It's based on an old Spider-Man episode involving either cloning, or some imposter in a Spidey suit.
And I just saw the sequel today: It was incredible! I'll leave it to you to decide whether you watch it in the cinema or on your channel. But by all means, watch it! 😊
There were some references in Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies:
- When he's interrogating the guy using a deep voice, the guy talks about his "nephew".
- In the last movie, they cure Electro, and he says he was hoping Spider-Man "would be black".
I am SO GLAD you picked up on how the Spider-Man of this universe summoned the other Spiderpeople when his head was forced into the machine. It's so subtle that a lot of people miss it.
Wait people missed it? That's literally the plot of the movie
Hey trixy, since you saw this movie, you gotta see across the spider verse in theaters , ITS EVEN MORE MIND BLOWING AND AWESOME
Fun fact: Nicolas Cage is a big comic book fan, and he almost played Superman in the 80's, he also has a huge comic book collection with a lot of expensive comics.
And played ghost Rider in 2 movies
SPOILERS!!!
his cameo in the Flash is shocking tbh, although he looks CGI there.
If you thought this movie was mind-blowing, just _wait_ until you see the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse.
I was here for her Spider Gwen reaction... It was better than I expected
That bagel was more important than you think.
Just to show you how well written this movie is, here’s the script description of the best scene in this movie, the leap of faith:
“Miles walks to the edge of the roof, the wind buffeting... and LEAPS! The camera is UPSIDE DOWN. Miles isn't falling through frame. He's RISING.”
Please give Star Trek a chance.
Kingpin thinking that he is stronger than Spiderman... if he would know that Peter has to hold his own punches to avoid turning people into pools of blood with a single hit. When Peter turned serious to fight the Kingpin for harming Aunt May, he took a beating.
you know the movie is amazing when everyone watching always go "why dont you do this?" and then the character goes and does exactly that.
I was happily surprised by how good these were.
Kingpin is deceptively "strong." so essentially he pounded on Peter's chest like an angry gorilla and caved his chest in killing him in the process. Of course, it didn't help Peter that he was already beat up from fighting Goblin and then got blown up AND pinned beneath debris. If Peter had been fresh and not fighting, that ONE hit would not have killed him; It would certainly have hurt though.
Yeah, that's not fat, it's muscle. That said, Parker is _way_ stronger (and sturdy; and heals fast). But, as you said, it was mostly Osborn, the explosion, and the debris that did him in, Fisk just put the last nail in the coffin.
@@mbpoblet Yeah absolutely, Fisk is I'd say about as strong physically as Captain America, while he's raging out and just under when he's in control. Spider-Man is easily about as strong as 30 Captain America's so there's that. MCU did a great job of showing him stop Bucky's punch without effort, like tossing a tennis ball and catching it again, then EFFED that up having Cap yeet him off his feet.
@@patrickcromwell7554 Depends on which version of Cap, I'd say. _Daredevil_ can stand his own against Fisk (when in full possession of his faculties, v1 #228 doesn't count)... Even non super strong versions of Cap could probably deal with him without much issue.
Those scenes in Civil War were great, though, yeah (and also showed why Cap could beat Fisk, even if they had the same strength).
@@mbpoblet I'm not sure exactly WHY you're telling me this. Or why you are referencing Cap vs Fisk. Yeah Steve can take Fisk rather easily. That's not even in doubt. So I don't see why you'd say "depends on which version of Cap.". If you're thinking there's version of Cap that can beat Peter, then no. There isn't. Peter outclassed Steve on every level. Physical, mental, and psychic.
@patrickcromwell7554 I Mena normally I'd agree but in a recent comic run Kingpin broke through Dr. Doom's magic with sheer force alone... somehow.
Speaking of Marvel, please continue watching X-Men.
The part where gwen in the end says she and Peter B parker didn't teach him that move. Miles was actually pulling off pretty much the exact same move the Spiderman that died did after he saved Miles from falling and talking to him. Like the movement is the same, it's a great detail
The roommate is his Best friend Ganke, you’ll see more of him in Spider-Man Miles Morales PS5 game. He didn’t get much screen time here, because Ganke would find out about him being Spider-Man if they became Best friends this Early in the Film. Hopefully, you see more of Ganke in the Sequels.
"It's a Japanese toilet" made me laugh so hard bless you
Hoodies have been around since the early 1930's and I've been jealous of Spider-Gwen's hoodie design since I first saw her in the books. Makes you wonder if hoodies have been around since the '30's, why didn't Jack "King" Kirby give Peter Parker a hooded Spider-Man costume design since Spider-Gwen's is so slick, huh??
If Marc Webb doesn't return for TASM3
Then Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER direct and produce the movie
They can save it from AVI ARAD
On the behind the scenes they explain that's it's computer animation and they have real drawn animation over it. It's SO cool and beautiful.
"This moment was on my screensaver and I didn't know it was from here. I just thought it was from AI"
I know artists out there are ordering rope right now.
This one was the best spiderman movie ever... Until... Across the Spiderverse. An other Oscar to come
your reaction was such a blast!!!!! its really clear how much you are enjoying yourself and the story!!! literally the best reaction i've seen!!!!!
The Ultimate Spider-Man Movie of All Time!
The movie is an outstanding piece of art that would have certainly received approval from Stan Lee himself. Its animation is incredible, and the story is both great and thought-provoking. The film not only lives up to the hype but also exceeds expectations, despite some negative reviews from viewers who cannot be satisfied no matter what.
Spider man across the spider verse p1 was mind blowing
@@Kyleriley5000just a bit pedantic here, but it is no more across the spiderverse part 1, the sequel already has a name beyond the spiderverse. Drop the "part 1", bit.
Gwen Stacy: You know I'm older than you. 15 months, but it's pretty significant if you ask me.
Miles Morales: Well, Einstein said time was relative, right?
Rizz intensifies
This movie is simply amazing, with this animation different from the others.
And the sequel is just as good.
The "Spiderman pointing meme" is a still frame from the 1960s TV cartoon show, where an impostor in a Spiderman costume squares up against the real Spiderman. The image has been meme'd and modified and re-used in so many contexts since then!
That 1960s TV cartoon is also where the Spiderman theme song comes from.
"Spider-Man, Spider-Man
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web, any size
Catches thieves just like flies
Look out
Here comes the Spider-Man"
If you sung or hummed the tune along with reading the lyrics, you know the song I'm talking about, whether you've ever seen the cartoon or not.
the sound theme of the Prawler is a elephant sound only modificated
"PDNY" is a clever way to let us know we have been in an alternate dimension the entire time. At first, we just see our world de-branded-but is another plane.
The Prowler's theme that always plays is actually the sound of an elephant just run through some audio processors
The fact that you focused on "they took a bagel" just made me love you even more.
🤷🏼♂️
I’ll let you know right now. If you loved the first one..the second one will leave you speechless. One of the greatest works of fiction I have ever seen.
Definitely cosplay Spider Gwen for the next Spiderverse movie reaction. She has a LOT or screen time in the sequel. It'll be fitting 👍
I really loved this too. Big fan of Gwen.
If you want to see more of her now, her voice actor, Hailee Steinfeld, is Kate Bishop in Marvel's new Hawkeye series.
The second movie is out in theaters, but it's a part 1 of 2. It's worth seeing, but you have to wait until next year to get the complete story, which really sucks.
At least it's not 13 years like Avatar
I've seen a few of these reactions, and no one ever catches this one little bit. In the Alchemax offices, Doc Ock says her friends call her Liv. Later on, at Aunt May's house for the fight, Aunt May calls her Liv.
Kingpin is more explained in Daredevil witch you have to watch sometime and I love this movie I watched it like 10 times , the music and just seeing Miles grow is amazing
I believe Miles' roommate in the movie is Ganke
0:23 There’s a reason why Marvel has had such problems with its own comic characters since starting the MCU. Marvel was going bankrupt in the 90s, and licensed out its most popular characters to other companies: the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to Fox, the Hulk to Universal, and Spider-Man to Sony. (Note that not just the singular characters were licensed; they were included in big packages of related characters - when Sony got Spider-Man, they got all of Spidey’s villains like Doc Ock, the Green Goblin, the Vulture, etc.) They had to start the MCU with Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, because that’s what they had left.
Just for you to know, the Spider-man Noir's voice is played bay non other tha ñn Nicholas Cage
29:02 "I have goosebumps" Yep we all do
This movie is great, a 10/10. But Across the Spider Verse is even better. You are going to LOVE the opening of the movie. Across the Spider Verse is the best animated movie I've ever seen.
"Not in such a tight space with two people" sooooo... Never lived in a dorm, huh? 😂
I like Andrew Garfield too, but I think I like Holland a little more. Cause I feel.... Toby made the best Peter Parker, while Andrew made the better Spiderman, but Tom Holland pulled them both off together. Just my opinion.
Not just your opinion. I've been saying the same thing for years.
Yeah, I'd agree with that
1 andrew
2 spectacular spiderman
3 miles
4 tobey
5 tom
for me personally
@@zaidspetsin9084 I don't include the cartoons cause then I would say Peter Parker from the 1960s cartoon was the best Spiderman
@@imthewolf1 for me I think we should include the cartoons/animated series. and 1960s cartoon spidey would be a valid pick if you wanted to include it.
( i havent seen it and dont really plan to so cant vouch for how good it is)
Fact time: Spider-ham's origin is a little different to the others. Normally, a human is bitten by a weird spider. In Porker's case, he was a spider that got bitten by a radioactive pig...
I've seen the new one and it's really good! The first one holds a really special place in my heart and is my favorite movie so I do like the first one more. However the second one is absolutely gorgeous and I do really like it
“What happened to the popsicle?”
That was a popular popsicle in the US several years ago
Fun fact: The big bald villain in this movie (Kingpin) is the same guy as the villain in Hawkeye.
You're right, Spider-Man is the most popular singular hero. When marvel was broke, they were selling of the rights to their heros. They wanted 20 million for the movie rights to everyone. Sony offered 7 million for Spider-Man saying "no one gives a shit about other heroes"
Which is why this isn't a marvel movie, even in their multiversal setup. This is not marvel because sony owns Spiderman movie rights.
I like the deal Marvel and Sony have lol. Best of both worlds. It means we get the spiderman games and the movies.
Probably my favorite underrated quote:
_"Play dumb"_
"Who's Morales?"
_"Not THAT dumb!"_
As i watch the movie again and check for details I noticed that miles' Jordan looks like the Jordan 1 Retro Chicago 2013 with the jumpman logo on the front but none on the back
Andrew Garfield has the best live action suit in ASM2. Pure perfection
If Gwen's your favorite you're going to love Across the Spiderverse
the andrew garfield spider man is the best for me too
Such an amazing story and the animation is top notch
So just for reference, Kingpin's wife didn't leave because he was fighting Spider-Man; she left because she saw him beating someone to death with his fists. Given that it was in their home, it was likely Kingpin lost his temper at an innocent staff member like a butler or maybe even a cook or a maid. Whoever it was doesn't matter. It was the sheer violence of it, that made his wife leave.
You can see him fighting Spiderman in the movie and can't see anybody else, I just double checked to be sure. Maybe you're misremembering? Or is this something that was showed/said outside the movie?
@@SACC_ I think they were trying to say Kingpin fighting and kinda holding his own against Spider-Man in their home means Vanessa was frightened of HIM and how he could turn on anyone else in the household. AKA, if he loses his temper at the butler or anyone else
@@NyikoDoris Oh! Yeah, I understand now after rereading. Then yeah, that’s what they were trying to convey, her being scared of him after seeing that.
@@SACC_ um the scene where Vanessa sees him, is in their own home. Why would he be fighting Spider-Man there?? No, she clearly saw him rage out on someone innocent.
@@patrickcromwell7554 That’s what happened. You can check the movie. Maybe Spider-Man followed him there or something.
Such perfect timing, the sequel is on a theatre near you.
12:45 "This is like the thingy in the real world." I think you mean the Large Hadron Collider that Cern built in France and Switzerland? 21:04 That Spider-Gwen reveal though.
“Why did you just let it dangle? Keep it in a safe spot.” 🤔
She loves Andrew but sung Tobey’s theme 😂ok. Can’t deny Maguire
The sequel is way better IMO. Much more feels and many more spider people.
Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER in charge of their cinematic universe
They can save it from AVI ARAD
The music for prowler is a slowed down baby elephant playing around near a microphone if it helps you to know
this is the best comic book movie ever. the more you dissect this movie the better it gets. 🥰
"This is a pretty hard core origin story."
This movie is already 5 years old... be sure that all memes you know came from this movie. ;)
I've watched the sequal 3 times now. It's so good.
The new one is like 10x better in terms of animation it is STUNNING
Remember in Spider-Man Homecoming there was an uncle Aaron played by Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino
The new one is unbelievable which is incredible considering how good the first one is.
i hate when people say why would he carry it in his pocket where the hell was he supposed to put it it’s too important to be anywhere away from him
20:01 you glossed over a very important moment in the movie😂😂
That was very crucial
A good amount of head trauma doesn't make you peaceful.
CTE ( chronic head injuries ) cause mood swings, aggression, impulse control issues, and soo much more.
The "thingy" is called the collider😅
The girl is Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Gwen aka Ghost Spider. She has her own comic book series as well, well really it is a a bunch of short series. I think there is like 12 or so of them each around 6ish comics long. I have a fair number of them, I was a big spider-man fan as a kid. Then they did some spin off spider-mans, Miles Morales which is who this show is about, Gwen Stacy who they also introduced in this. I am hoping each of them get their own live action movie at some point.
Yes Blue! You should def do a Spider-Gwen cosplay! lol you already have the haircut for it.
Movie definitely has an awesome soundtrack too.
My favourite live action Spider-Man is also Andrew Garfield. I will die on this hill.
When I first saw the movie, I honestly thought Miles broke his leg at 15:43.
The French Canadian accent be strong😂
Watching in Real 3D you are actually IN the comic book!!
9:00 LMAO that hurt a little bit 🤣🤣🤣🤣
14:01 What did you just say? 🤣
I love this movie. It is a very well paced, complete story that introduces (and fleshes out to varying degrees) a number of characters simultaneously. On top of that it is innovative with the medium of animation and provides a fusion of different art styles with purpose. This is so, so, so, so, so, so, so, much better than Across the Spider-Verse.
New one is AMAZING! Such a good followup to this
