You haven’t cleaned that palette in 6 years and here’s me not cleaning palette, well, everrrr😂 and I totally relate to the self consciousness of going places alone👀I’ve had a major struggle with this trying to take myself on artists dates and wonder if it’s worth the stress😩 I need an emotional support pup or something!

Emotional support pups or friends are the only way to go!!!
I never clean mine either as pigment is expensive.
Oh that’s such a good idea. I never thought to swatch or play with color palette to break in a new sketchbook especially a new brand. I’ve been trying to figure out how to start my first travel sketchbook before leaving to travel and this is perfect! Can’t wait to see how your retreat goes!
Yess!! It’s so fun and it makes it feel okay to start off a bit messy and silly and playful rather than stressed about making a perfect page 🩷

I know! It’s like a brand new set!
About twelve years ago I used washi tape in an art journal. I was looking through the journal earlier this week and was dismayed to find the gum from the tape had seeped through and was very sticky to to the touch. It is the only journal with washi tape in it fortunately as I decided to make my own strips with various papers rather than buy more washi tapes as they were very hard to get way back then.
Wow that’s so interesting! I need to go back and check my old journals!
Hope you’ll have a wonderful retreat! If you don’t mind me asking: which palette is this and which palette (for gouache and watercolour) would you recommend?
This is by Winsor and Newton!! I don't have a set colour palette ever, nothing thought out in a deliberate way, that is. I barely know the formal names of colours!
I love winsor and newton gouache, too. And Holbein for acrylic gouache :)
I always pack so many art supplies when I travel or go out to sketch and then Im lucky if I bust out more than my pen, water brush, and maybe a colored pencil to add contrasting color. Maybe I should try a retreat where they force you to get out everything you packed 😮
