DUNGEON MESHI is so good I really enjoyed season 1 and I recommend watching it in either sub or dub their both really good.
4:08 this is actually a rule with venom in general. Venom, unlike poison, is designed to be injected into your bloodstream, but when you eat it, it passes through your liver first and gets filtered out. It’s still not good for you, but it is much less effective, and a lot less likely to kill you.
It’s also a very fun way to figure out if your digestive system is messed up or not :)

100% suggest going with the dub! The voices in Japanese are also really great but the sub translation is kind of bland compared to the dub.
The plot is genuinely incredible, but it is something that only starts revealing itself after the first few episodes. Not to spoil anything, but it’s It tricks you at the start into believing it’s gonna be this really lighthearted family friendly cooking adventure, but it goes some crazy dark places & gets super epic. Definitely stick with it!
your gonna love this show. the plot does take a bit to kick in, but once it does, it's PEAK.
Studio Trigger also does an amazing job animating this show. Some of the best looking animation I've seen this year for some scenes.
This is def one of those shows where the plot gets more serious as it progresses 🙂↕️

People can be revived in a dungeon here but like, you need a body (preferably one that's mostly intact) to revive someone. If Falin (the one who was eaten) gets digested there won't be a body/enough of a body left to revive her, she'd be bones if even that. Dying to something like a slime, like Marcille's first death, is just suffocation, so still a fully intact body to be revived. But digested in the stomach of a dragon (or any creature) would neat to nothing.
SO they're basically on a body retrieval, hoping to get to her while there's still a body left so they can revive her. They are NOT expecting to her to be alive (again, Falin was eaten), they just want to get her body before it's rendered down to nothing.
dub has great voices

Yooooo I’ve been so obsessed with this show. Hope you watch it all the way through. I wasn’t feeling it during the first few episodes but later on these became some of my favorite characters in fiction. Laois is peak.
HELL YEAH IT'S DUNGEON MESHI TIME! I love the manga and I love how the show is adapting it! Can't wait for s2 next year! I recommend dub, it's really good!
It’s not a video game, but it kind of has that vibe because it’s very inspired by D&D and a lot of classic JRPGs! The mangaka Ryoko Kui is a big fan of fantasy video games, and there was a joke that she ended the manga early so she could go play Baldur’s Gate 3! (It’s not true, the end of the manga just happened to line up with the BG3 release date.)
From episode 3 and onwards the worldbuilding starts to really stand out. From episode 8, however the things start to get more active and it has genuenly one of the most tense fight scenes out there. From epsiode 11-12 the story get REALLY good, IMO the story from that point forward gets two times more interesting.
I got up to episode 9 a few weeks ago and I AM ALL OVER this concept!! As someone who loves fantasy and world building for my own AUs and stories I love imagining little things for my fantasy worlds that I’ve created like what foods they eat and what their society looks like etc. and this show gets SO creative with it I love it!! Also Marcille is autism coded and you can’t change my mind lol.
Think of the first batch of episodes as a getting-to-know-the-characters type of deal. It starts off as a comedy anime focused on food (and it stays as a comedy throughout the manga), but at a certain point, you get deeper into the lore of the dungeon, and the stakes get raised. If you stick with it, it'll be worth it. The whole series is so well-thought out from beginning to end, not just in plot, but also in character writing and world-building (speaking as someone who read the whole manga). Glad you're reacting to it!
I LOVE this show. I never got into the fantasy thing much but if there was anything to get me into it, THIS was it.
Also the creator of this is a HUGE D&D fan so the anatomy put into the creatures makes it all the more special.

I'm sorry, but I genuinely don't get Dub hate in general, especially for this series. The only case I see is Laios sometimes, but everyone else is SSS tier!!!
I genuenly prefer subs over dubs for almost everything, because more often than not OG acting has much more effort put in.
@@kolbayada4938 I can see that argument for Laios, no matter how much I like his English Voice, but everyone else is doing a fantastic job in their roles
@@DeltaGreen03 I don't really see that argument for Laios tbh, do you have an example or examples of when it sounded like the VA didn't put in effort? I always felt like he intentionally wasn't supposed to stand out much and was just a chill guy type except for his intense interest in monsters lol. He also reads as an autistic person with a special interest and I wonder if that's what they were going for (in fact many autistic people have clung onto him cuz he seems that way).

@@kolbayada4938 Is it about the effort or are you just too used to subs and just prefer them over dub cuz of a bad experience with old dub voice actors? I agree that dub voices used to not be as good, but nowadays dub is picking up steam for a lot of anime. i'd say give it a try for anime like this one where people recommend dub over sub and see if you like it and if not that's absolutely okay 👍👍! We all got preferences and it's ultimately up to you which one you prefer, but I'd say don't knock it until you try it since things have changed a lot from before!

This is one of my favorite anime (and manga :p) of all time! I actually really prefer the dub for the series, the VAs put in a lot of effort! Some notable VAs are ProZD as Senshi, Damien Haas (from Smosh) as Laios, Emily Rudd (Nami in the live action One Piece) as Marcille, and Casey Mongillo (dub Shinji Ikari) as Chilchuck!
There's one episode very late in the series where ProZD is absolutely masterful, iykyk

Ooooh! Adding my support for the dub! I generally prefer subs, but this is one of those few shows were I VASTLY prefer the dub, they do such an amazing job with it! And yes, the story gets *REALLY* good, I think you'll love it!! I was sold by episode 3, but it really ramps up around episode 10/11 and goes full tilt through the end of the manga, and the show has been following it very faithfully so far! :D

Dub is easier to react to, in my opinion, for both reactor and viewer. You can focus on the visuals, and the viewer won’t be distracted by voices, subtitles, and the reactor’s voice all at the same time. Just my thoughts.
Also it depends on the anime, and I think that Dungeon Meshi has a pretty good dub.
Sungwon Cho (ProZD) voices Senshi on the dub, so I’d say dub.
If you do decide to keep watching this, I recommend the sub. It's so good. Currently season is 1 over ,but thankfully season 2 is confirmed to come.

Dub and sub are both very good, for a reaction video, I'd recommend dub though, it makes the reaction video mych easier to listen along to rather than tryin to read those tiny subtitles. The sub has a better translation imo. I prefer the Japanese to English rather than all the localized stuff for English speaking audiences, you miss some of the nuances. Like some have said, Dun Mesh has a really good story! The start of the show is more about introducing the characters and it gets much more complex as the story goes on. The manga was written and drawn by one japanese woman, Ryoko Kui, and the anime is very faithful to the manga so far. That being said, its worth mentioning that I'm not sure she thought the manga would be as big of a hit as it it turned out to be, starting in 2014 and ending in 2024. I feel like Kui got more and more invested in the manga as popularity grew and it just gets better and better.

The voice acting is ALWAYS less cringe when it's a language we don't understand, but with dungeon meshi specifically I find that the japanese voice acting not only fits the characters more, but it's also funnier. Like, way funnier.
this ep was the first time im hearing it in dub and its really not bad at all, but you should def try the sub since it has a specific way of matching the world and characters and melding it all together

4:10 Actually people consume snake venom in real life. As long as you have not internal cuts the venom can't do anything. There's a difference between venomous and poisonous.
