    Why in god's name are these amateurs still using a GTR to a MUCH heavier Wagon. The fuck...the M5 was MUCH heavier as well. Not to mention the GTR is designed to be a race car, to corner better, to have a PURPOSE on the track. The RS6 Avant is a ROCKETSHIP for the road. A true masterful and USEFUL Wagon. So fuck their opinion.

      the Audi is a super estate. This model only is a V8 but the previous model had a V10 that produced around 600bhp. It has all wheel drive. It is too bad the people in America are left out of the fantastic estates from around the world. BMW, and Mercedes have cars that are similar to the Audi.

    • @BurningParisMusic
      @BurningParisMusic 10 лет назад

      innFahr Two previous generation of this the RS6 was v10? I know all the american version are different. I have a 2003 TT. Even the new TTRS(american) version doesnt have half of the stuff as the UK version does. Is the RS6 the same way? Im not hating on the RS6 lol

      Daniel Long UK cars tend to have slightly higher standard specification than cars sold in US and Canada. But then US and Canadian sourced cars are generally 30-40% cheaper than cars sold in UK. But then you pay usually slightly more money for the optional extras. Fully optioned RS6 in UK is around 90k GBP = 150k USD. Fully optioned GTR is around 82k GBP on the road .... and what the above reviewer forgot to mention is, that GTR doesn't have even the basic niceties as front and rear audible parking sensors [although that it has the rear view camera] ... and you can install the parking sensors without invalidating Nisan warranty. Some people might say ... "why do I need the parking sensors on the track car"? But Nisan is trying to make the point of advertising GTR as a cheap alternative to Porsche Turbo S. The fact is, that in real world, GTR doesn't compare well even with similarly priced 991 Carrera 4S.

    I'm gonna just add, to be complete in my comments:
    I've done 85k personally in my Audi, driven from England to Norway (1600miles) in 18 hours, driven all over europe with 500kg in my boot, and this mofo of a wagon has NEVER, EVER, let me down.
    Long term review complete.
    And before anyone asks about the "repair" i mentioned, it was due to a twat in a passat and my brakes being better than his.... The car has NEVER let me down in 85k miles.
    Buy one, if you need to do 200mph, not break down and also be able to fit 3 metre lengths of Unistrut in the car (yes it does fit).... :-)

  • @ColinScott
    @ColinScott 11 лет назад +2

    1730KG versus 1865KG as standard. However the video mentioned £15k's worth of options on the Audi, I'm betting the Audi was closer to 2000KG. That is still a considerable difference. However, its not a shock that a focussed coupé beat an estate car, but, as others have said, I'd take the Audi every time.

  • @AKhellbindeR
    @AKhellbindeR 10 лет назад +14

    I dont get some of these shootouts. What is the point in comparing a fast fullsize stationcar, with a coupe all out sports car? Basically the Audi is supposed to be a fast daily driver, in which you can still haul kids around in the back, pick up groceries, as well as take to the track occasionally. Theres a reason why that type of car are nicknamed "family containers".
    Where does the GTR fit in? They are completely different cars for different needs. Nissan does not even have any car (Maybe as Infinite, not sure) that can be compared to the RS6, but Audi does have a car in which you can compare the GTR, the R8. Why not go with that instead.

    • @RomainSandt
      @RomainSandt 10 лет назад +1

      I'm asking myself the same questions. It seems they just want to drive often the GT-R for Fun and drive other great cars... They found a way to do it. There is no point than having fun. And it's not fun to watch either, plus we know logic and numbers. The Nissan is made the track, not the RS6... Stupid and useless.

    compairing A luxurius station with A race car. pretty stupid

    • @criscros7
      @criscros7 8 лет назад +6

      Why? They're certainly perfectly aware of the fact that they're comparing two different kinds of cars. I find it interesting to see how well a station wagon of this calibre can keep of with a pure-bred sports car like the GT-R. A comparison between two very similar cars makes sense when you already know exactly what kind of car you want. But a comparison between different kinds of cars makes just as much sense when you're undecided wether you really want a race car or a super-sporty saloon/station and wonder how big the differences between them regarding dynamics or ride comfort really are.
      There is no such thing as a stupid comparison, you just have to define beforehand what aspects you're comparing and to what end.
      I keep reading comments (usually written by people who are miffed because their favourite didn't "win") under car comparison vids claiming "unfair because one is turbo-charged and one is not" or "unfair, because one is 4WD and the other is not" or "unfair because one has 30 hp more" or "unfair because is one two years older" etc. -- Well, there will always be differences, that's why you make a comparison in the first place. Otherwise, you could only compare two copies of the same car, rendering the "comparison" completely pointless. How big of a difference between two test candidates one allows is only determined by what one's trying to find out.

    Buy the Avant RS6, give it to MTM tuning in Sussex with a spot of ready cash, £15000 to be exact, and in return they will modify both suspension and engine, so that the car can handle the increased performance.
    The car will now be throwing out over 800Hp.
    With the cars four wheel drive and enough power to rip your arms from their sockets, the top speed will be approaching 215mph.
    Enough performance to rival most supercars,let alone a Nissan GT-R

    All i can say is, the GTR tests you and taunts you each time you drive it.
    The RS6 doesnt demand anything from you...so easy to drive, feels virtually as powerful as the GTR, more comfortable, way more practical, and you actually enjoy crusing in it when you dont want to drive like a maniac. For an everyday vehicle that can do everything, the RS6 would be my choice.

    Obviously the GTR is a track weapon for the road but the Audi is the family car that you can jump into on your own on Sunday morning and have one hell of a blast. I've sorted the under steer problem on mine by fitting Toyo R888 tires on the front and the Toyo R1R on the rear. With that tire setup I have I get the rear end sideways every time.

    Although i enjoyed driving the 35, it cant make those wonderful v8 noises that the RS6 can.
    Plus, blip the throttle sharply to redline while idling, let go sharply and you get a series of loud bangs/pops. Quite addictive.....unlike the GTR that merely whines like a huge Japanese superbile engine with straight-cut transmission gearbox. If its the sound that turns you on...the GTR loses out completely.

    Man, that Audi wagon is awesome! Even though the GT-r won, the fact that the Audi even contended is amazing! I watched a foot race between two men one day. One was 41 years old and the other was 23. Even though the younger man won the race, it was only by a small margin. Everyone went up to shake the older mans hand afterwards while the younger guy got totally ignored for his efforts. The Audi gets much respect for it's abilities against the GT-R.

    Wow, I was not expecting that from the Audi. The Nissan is a performance car, albeit, not a conventional one. It's heavy, has an unusual engine placement, has unconventional assembly and production systems (all in comparison to other performance cars), but its aim is still to perform. Yes it has back seats and a boot, but they're as useless as the ones in a Porsche. The Audi on the other hand is not a performance car, its a daily driver. Its immensely practical, incredibly well made and designed for a completely different purpose to the Nissan. I don't understand why they were being pitted against each other. However, when you factor in what the Audi really is, I think it should have won. Were they both performance cars, the the Nissan would take it, but the Audi is not a performance car, and it was so close to the Nissan in basically every test. Every test that is, except braking (which the Nissan should have been able to win) and luxury, where the Audi is miles ahead of the Nissan. The interior of the GTR is pretty poor, and that Audi looks stunning, even from its actually usable back seats and cavernous boot. Frankly, from me, it's a win for the Audi. Let the fanboys rage.

    a super car against a station wagon? and the super car won! wow!! what a performance by the GTR!

      Eeeh...not really a fair comparison. A 10-cylinder versus a 6-cylinder. Regardless, the Nissan GT-R would prevail every time because the Audi RS8--and its long-standing issues with fuel system fires--would end up in flames far before it every caught a glimpse of any finish line. :)

    if you compare super-coupe, you should compare with another super-coupe not an estate car. From the range of Audi's i'd put the GT-R against RS5. and if you really want to test the best against the best - R8 V10.

    Both vehicles have immaculately made interiors. Hvg lived with both cars, i guarantee you'll be amazed with the GTR dashboard's solidity....rap it with knuckles and it feels like granite/cement wrapped with stitiched leather....especially next to your knees and thighs. GTR's interior is extremely rock solid, but has not much class vs the RS6 interior that simply oozes prestige.

    A lot of folk are down on this as it does seem a rather strange comparison but I do see where you are coming from. A proper sports car V a proper sports/family car comparison. It did show just how good the Audi is. In none of the tests was it embarrassed and I think anyone, other then a single guy/girl, would leap at the Audi long before the GT-R.

    IT'S NOT A STUPID TEST ! They cost about the same, and that's why this is an interesting and valid test to many people. The performance is also similar in the twisties, and the Audi even betters the GTR in braking. If it was my money I'd got with the RS6 without a doubt !

    The differences in cornering and acceleration are miniscule. And with the Audi braking at least 1½ - 2 car lengths shorter than the Nissan, it's really a no-brainer. As far as I'm concerned, Nissan should be embarrassed that a 4-door wagon practically equaled the performance of their star player. Audi is really on fire right now!

    I'm sorry Autocar but this has to be the most ludicrous match up in history. I thought the M5 vs GTR was bad, but this is just ridiculous. A 2 door supercar competitor that will struggle to seat more than 2 vs a 5 door wagon that will take five adults with luggage. I mean really?

    RS6 wins no matter what. I doubt anyone looking to buy an RS6 Avant is planning to take it to the track as stock. The Audi stops quicker, is more luxurious, isn't at all slower than the GTR on that twisty road, and although the acceleration is slightly slower than the GTR - it is more than enough to overtake anything. The Audi has a larger boot, and space to race down the highway with your whole family. Whatever the points might say, the Audi wins hands down.

    does anyone know if you can get the rs6 bodykit on a regular a6/s6? The bodykit on the rs6 is a lot more aggressive than the standard a6 one. It would be fun to own an a6 with a an rs6 body kit because of the high taxes (here in sweden) when you have a big engine, lots of cylinders and not so eco friendly. So is it possible to have an rs6 body on an a6/s6?

    • @xBuzz996

    The corner test seems to be fundamentally flawed. They obviously measured the maximum grip achieved and not average grip over the course of the WHOLE corner. The GT-R drifted slightly at the end (not the fastest way of accelerating out of a corner as we all know). But that's where its lateral acceleration sky-rocketed.
