ive been getting into tomicas recently. just brought a r34 police and man it looks sick! tomica has a really great list of cars, starting from your base model economy japanese sedans, hatchbacks, mini vans, commercial vans and trucks, to high end super cars and hypercars. their selection is quiet interesting too, like releasing different trim variants of the r35 GTR which im pretty sure others brands like hotwheels haven't do it yet (except for releasing the 09 and 17 variant). most people tend to sleep on tomica because of the steel type/spare ish wheel types and basic tempos, but they mostly forget that some of these cars are made for the tomica road playsets. tomica premium on the other hand is cool, cuz they have seperate wheel types for each car
You definitely should try their TLV/TLVN (Tomica Limited Vintage/Neo) and their TP/TPU (Tomica Premium/Unlimited) That's where they put the "actual" qualities there
@@huongnguyenthi8915 the problem is, when HW does have tail and headlights, they tends to be better because of the more realistic detail of the lights tampo Tomica only paint it white and red For example, while R34 Skyline in HW have the iconic 4 circles taillight (with red color, and the inner circles have orangeish color), the Tomica regular version will only paint it all in red, with no orangeish detail on the taillights The same goes for the frontlights
You should definitely try Tomica Premiums! Sure they dont have rubber tires, but they have really unique set of wheels for each car. These are usually seen as "black box Tomicas"
There used to be a Tomica limited line (not to be confused with Tomica limited vintage NEO) which also have rubber tires and unique set for each model and better detailing, similar to HW premium. Sadly the line is discontinued so the prices are a bit hefty
As a Honda fan you can probably imagine haw badly i want the Civic and the garage set. This is so cool man, too bad Tomicas are so hard to come by here.
I like tomica basic castings. Yes, the wheels are weak, but they have their charm. To me, it just says they are toys car. Nothing wrong with that. But doing customs is fun. Putting your fingerprint on to the casting to make it your own.
My main criteria for buying 1:64 scale toy cars is the wheels. If the car has interesting or uncommon wheels, I'm likely to buy it. If the wheels are ordinary, I usually don't.
Hey fellow collector here. I used to love tomica, but in terms of paint, Tomica sucks. For now the paint would be strong and good, but in the future their paint would be very easy to scratch off, your fingers can leave marks on the paint and the thin paint would start to bubble.
1:40 i have the 2024 hotwheels civic type r and tomica one (not the hrc). let me tell you something that rarely happened.. hotwheels may butcher the 1:64 scale, it doesn't have the rear Honda logo, the small type r and civic badge but hotwheel kill it 100%. compare tomica even though the headlight is tampo it look somehow more natural and proportional the front and rear light tampo is detail compared to tomica. it got mirrors, actual exhaust cast and painted, they carve and texturize the front grill, and lastly better wheels.. and i know its not exactly comparable because tomica one are basic and hotwheels one are premium but since you bring it up and said "beat the crap out of hotwheels" so here it is
@@Lar.Real.Diecast definitely should get one if theres problem with the price wait a bit until the spoon 2 pack out. it got exactly the same fl5 and one yellow ek9
I agree! The great thing about them over hot wheels and modern matchbox is that they actually tell you what scale they did the car in, which sometimes makes you wonder why for most cars they didn’t just take 5 seconds to look up the dimensions of the real car and do the math to make it 1/64 scale? Quite a few castings are 1/64 like this Type R and the Acura Integra (DE4), Mitsubishi Grandis, Toyota CHR etc etc, and quite a few vehicles like the CRV, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue (well it’s called X-trail) can EASILY be 1/64, but they’re 1/66… I don’t understand it can NOT be to “fit the package” they just don’t put scale first for the Redbox line which sucks because the selection is so great
im not into hotwheels and i just found this video are you really hating hotwheels and glaze tomica and put "better than hotwheels" in your every single video havent checked you channel and im lazy
no need to compare the type R because both are different castings, hotwheels one is based on the actual spoon sports race car (albeit with less sponsors) while the tomica one (similar case as hotwheels) however is the stock FL5 type R
There are some castings that Tomica does better on the Premium line, no contest. but they still dont have the frigging side view mirrors and that cheeses me off
Mate, every brand has some flaws.... INNO64 Ferrari 308 GTB LBWK in grey is TERRIBLE! Wheels not rolling, car is tighten to the pedestal too tight, so tires have flat spots. Dissapointing!
Thanks so much for watching. HW still has a place in my heart and all...but if HW is like Standard Oil.....where is Standard Oil now? HW is kinda of a monopoly.
the way you can see right throught the car under the wheels arches makes them look really cheap. plus the wheels themselves are really cheap looking. i'm sorry but i can't understand how anybody would think these are better than hotwheels?
Tomica mainline wheels are mostly terrible, we all agree on that (the Hummer's wheels are fine, though they are obviously off-road wheels), but what's wrong with the Tomica premium wheels? They are unique, well detailed renditions of each car's actual wheels yet still toy-level so kids can use them with playsets, track and so on - perfect compromise in my view.. The F355 looked much worse with swapped wheels. It's weird that collectors want wheels that roll smoothly yet don't usually play with the cars. I have hundreds that sit on shelves, so why would it matter if they roll?
I agree, Tomica is better, but the wheels are really a big L
the wheels are tradition, been there since the beginning of tomica

You are right on the money. Tomica has a very specific vision.
Bro we need justice for the hummer 😂😂😂
I dont have offroad wheels yet lol poor him he is depressed now

Thanks man im so happy you like the channel 🥹🥹🥹 i want to cry lol

Bland wheels and simple painted head&taillights had always been Tomica Reguler line main weakness

love your videos production bro 🚬, my favorite diecast channel 🚗, keep it up, take care 🤙🏻
Appreciate the support, keep it real!🔥🔥🔥
The wheel swaps definitely did wonders for these Tomicas, especially the Ferraris. There we go, LoL. Don't neglect that poor Hummer!
There we go i need to get wheels for him 🤣🤣🤣
Tomicas are adorable 🥰🥰 thanks for watching

Cool comment 🥰
Life is a bummer to be a hummer.
New motto for him haha lol 🤣🤣
The Honda came out great, wow!
100k here we come!
Ferarri deal went through to Hot Wheels in exchange for huge F1 product push.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
@Lar.Real.Diecast just think about it how licenses work... no different than Porsche and RWB complexity...

Totally agree. They are made to be played with.
I used to do wheel swaps to my tomicas as well. I think u need to do a bit of adjustments to the stance. then it will be 10times better.
My main criteria for buying 1:64 scale toy cars is the wheels. If the car has interesting or uncommon wheels, I'm likely to buy it. If the wheels are ordinary, I usually don't.

They do have special looking wheels but... they rarely use it :/

I’ve noticed that too! 😔
i only go for mainlines if i feel like. most of the time i just go for tomica premiums or if i have the money, TLVs
I really really wished they keep the regular line closely to 1/64 😢

Yes sexy hot
Be careful, these dioramas get addictive lol i have a couple
Oh yeah im like looking at several now 🤣🤣🤣
@Lar.Real.Diecast haha I have 2 so far, you hit the nail on the head when you said the figures are next lol
Finally, im not the only on who complains about the wheels , btw its worst in the premium line
Yeah same, it was so ugly and thin asf so i wheelswapped it, it was so godamn smooth, really easy to drill the (screw?) or somethin.
Got the lambo revento green, regretted buying it 😕
Which lambo is that?
What i don't like about Tomicas are that the wheels are goddamn bland also its inconsistent scales(i always collect 1/64s)

you should complete the hrc set with the f1 redbull 2020 japan livery diecast
That redbull is that a tomica ill search for it 🥰🥰

Yes without them apart from the crappy wheels they would be the best bang for buck in diecast
Takara outright states on their website that they don't include side view mirrors for safety standards per law.
some yt shorts would be good for the channel 💡
🤔 thinking about it
use bottle caps for replacing that hummer wheels. 😆
I've never thought of that!
