All of your videos perfectly capture that collectors impulse. Also, your editing is amazing.

So I went on reddit and RLC isn't enough... you have to join RLC overdrive club for $99 (per year?) to be able to automatically be able to buy every RLC release.
The Supra waa sold out "pre-release" because it was desirable and nearly everyone who could, bought it in advance.
Some bought to own, some to resell.
If it was a "2 per customer" limit, who wouldn't buy 2 and resell one to cover the costs of membership and subsidise the cost of the model they're keeping?

The Supra I bought ended up getting was already off the card. And the semi I bought came with a bad tire. So far also my first try of RLC not worth the money

RLC seems like a only slight improvement from premium for ridiculous prices. Imo, matchbox collectors better value

Just buy the more premium quality diecast cars (MINI GT, kaido house, tarmac works, inno64 etc.), Although thery're like 15-20 bucks a car, they offer way more detail than you're basic hot wheels premium. Some even have removable parts or opening hoods in kaido house or any other premium brand that has it. Also, there is no sense of urgency to buy them as they aren't that popular as hot wheels cars. They're mainly made for display, not for reselling, so technically much better satisfaction value in my opinion.

Oh man, you're pretty wrong about that.
Over here in Malaysia, they're already becoming similar to Hot Wheels' situation. It's no longer easy to find what you want (especially if it's a hot model) at even RRP or close to it.
I've seen a Mini GT Ford GT (MGT00249) scalped for about $26.83 (I forgot its RRP, but $13.41 still doesn't sound so pathetic).

I collect 1-43 scale and the prices can be high but they are proper models with high quality & accuracy, and usually now resin so excellent paint and no diecast rash.
The price you pay is more but the quality and detail is way better than these hotwheels toys. They come with display case so you don't have to destroy the card packaging.
Even when the models are rare and desirable the extra over retail will be maybe double, triple at most.
Hotwheels have no real intrinsic value, it's all speculative. One day the bottom could fall out and they become almost worthless.
Some people seem to collect 'hotwheels", rather than "model cars" but if they really liked cars they'd surely buy miniGT etc as you mention. They do loads of cool JDM stuff for cheaper than hotwheels after they're resold.
