"In the criminal justice system, hot wheel based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit…These are their stories"
Well... If ONLY... If only Mattel would limit fantasy casting to one per case (so that kids still get them) and put MINIMUM of 3 up to 4 licensed cars (so that the supply meets the collectors' demand), maybe then Mattel would make more money, by limiting second hand market, and by setting the cases like that, increase the sales? I've found, with Basics/Mainlines amd even some Premiums, patience is key. Once the hype moves on, most of the cool ones become available. Also, I found building a trade group is extremely helpful. Plus, for me, it's more rewarding finding models my trading buddies want, than finding ones for myself. Have a great day! Happy hunting!
Accidentally bought a super treasure hunt when I bought 3 or 4 Hot Wheels. I've sent a picture to my girlfriend what cars I've bought but didn't recognise that it was a super. A few days later I was on holiday in a foreign country and was watching my pictures on the phone and when I looked at the picture of the Hot Wheels, I've noticed that it had a very different wheel rims and then realised that I've bought a super TH.
I couldn’t agree more, I recently got into the hobby, and it’s wild to me how people and/or employees at stores will just grab all the STH, save those for the kids, after unsuccessfully trying to find some I started buying RLC and Kaido House solely, the latter has WAY better detail, even more so than miniGT in my opinion (which they collaborate with). I donMt ever open any of mine so I’m buying top tier to put away for a decade or so, pull them out and sell them later on
Brooooo I got the Porshe yesterday and put my keys on it right away. I dont know how many years passed after the last time I opened a hotwheels' case. Felt really good. I put some nail polish overit, hoping the logos last a bit more. Cool video! God bless you!
I only buy from scalpers or resellers only if the price match the pegs, 1 to 2 dollar much. And as much i love jdms i just don't have the audacity to spend 20 dollar just for something you could find for a bucks out there. That's why i just move to other brands which offer them price that match the item, tarmac, mini gt etecera. I know young people grew to be adults and some can't let go of said hobbies but if you buy expensively from resellers then you're just dumb imho (unless they're bidding the item) Also I just found my first sth which is the 83 Silverado in a very small retail store on the peg. Ripping them open as a reminder of not being in for the hype
@@Lar.Real.Diecast i did. it's my first treasure hunt after all. Just cut the top of the plastic so i can kinda reseal them. all i wanted to do is to compare it to the basic ones and adore the detail it has as a sth. The shiny chrome 5-spoke wheel and the metallic dark blue colour really made it look better than the mainline ones. right now I just put it back in the card keep it in a protector so it'd look fresh perfect as how i find it first in the morning of that day.
The way you put this together was brilliant 😂👌 Don’t buy from the scalpers it’s as simple as that 👍 I saw some matchbox up on Amazon for £2k So I messaged the seller and asked them what are they on? No reply I can only assume that it wasn’t matchbox they were selling 😳

As a MiniGT, Pop Race, Tarmac Works and Inno64 diecast 1/64 collector my self is beyond me that scalpers are reselling TOYS from a TOY brand like hotwheels with no details and AWFUL rims at the same price or more than a real collection piece from a collection brand with insane attention to details. I mean, don't get me wrong, everyone is free to collect whatever they want, but would you buy overhyped rocks that you can get for free from the ground only for the hype?
I found my first treasure hunt ( Mitsubishi Pajero) at my first car meet at a advanced auto part, i truely do not care for em, or dont look for them, but that same mindset of checking always lingures into me ( definitely a mind control) rake us back when hw cars would have style to them and were new 24/7, but now its always a reskin and rarely get new ones on shelves 😔
Even without supers, collectors will still scalp for chases, red editions, and anything JDMs like Civics, Toyotas & Skylines or Nissans. I’d say collectors will be less aggressive if Hotwheels starts putting out fantasy cars only, then only then I will believe they will be less aggressive.
I got into the hobby back in July, I blame my uncle for it, and honestly after seeing a video on what some people do looking and calling retail stores for the next shipment and stalking for unopened boxes, I decided to let this hobby go, matter of fact today. I had gone to 3 Walmarts and a Target looking for an upcoming Race Day car. And I spotted some boxed toys. The first thing I did was to look for and see if I saw any HW boxes… instantly I shook myself out of it and said “let’s go home…” Scalpers do take the joy out of it, and I was becoming one. There are far more important things than letting this “drive” take me over.
Tomica Premium does have their limited variant in the form of "1st edition" that comes in special red boxes. These red box variants are more limited than their standard black box versions but still much easier to find than those stupid Super Treasure Hunts.
Another good tip is to collect the Ultra Hots. They are practically STH's already with the spectraflame paint. Just drill em out and add some real riders. The series is all License castings of different styles. Including Muscle cars which are my personal favs. Make the hobby work for you, an not for the hyped up scalping.
I found a STH in the wild once, because the store was really obscure and the shopkeepers didn't have a clue what it was. Was an amazing feeling to find one in the wild and have owned it for a little while. I love VW and in South Africa, so do many other people. So whenever a new VW comes out, its the first car to disappear off the pegs and end up on BoB shop (our Ebay) at 3 times the price. When the Alfa GTV came out, they were selling at 10 times their value. That car is the reason I quit collecting. I sold everything off to a friend and kept my childhood cars about 6 of them. Hotwheels scalpers can go straight to hell.
Unfortunately, there's always "that" group of people in every hobby. Especially as someone who collects Pokemon cards.🙄 I haven't collected Hot Wheels since I was a kid, so I can't imagine how hard it is to find those special cars these days with everything now being money driven.
Great summary. In my years of colecting those since childhood i never encountered one sth (although they werent even avalible in Poland for some time). I just colect what i like and unpack it. Now i share my collection with my younger brother which is awesome! Also we try to collect all the wrt cars (they look good displayed together) and i like stuff like buses trucks etc, and i will often buy even doubles if they have different paint sheme this year or something
This is a great video! Definitely a good amount of RUclipsrs makes it looks like they are "lucky" with finding Supers. I do want to collect Supers but I will not buy them from eBay. I will only buy them from real collectors. Plus, I think the Boulevard sets are way more cooler.
Only 5% of my collection is HW , and NEVER found a STH. The other 95% is AW ,JL , M2 and Greenlight. I'm willing to pay for more realistic diecast and the card art looks better than HW.
What business? They are barley making any money selling mainline for a couple dollars more. Scalpers are pathetic and a joke. As long as we all don't buy from them they will go away. Love the video bro
I recently quit collecting Hot Wheels 2 days after I started. I decided to switch to Mini GT. I only spent $4.70. Even after I quit, when I went to Walmart I still looked for treasure hunts.
LOL I'm glad I buy the Hot Wheels usually nobody else wants. To me sports cars are a dime a dozen. I go for fun unique Hot Wheels like buses, food trucks, etc. Which is why me and collectors usually never clash since I'm not looking for what they are. My favorite in my collection currently is the Street Wiener and Rink Racer. I remember buying a 5 pack of Hot Wheels just to get the Taco Truck.
Yeah, but then you'd have people weighing cases to find supers without opening. And with bigger castings, they'd have to be reinforced with bigger and thicker blisters, like some of half premiums are.
the probel comes from scalpers that have a full time job finding them before you do, they make it completely redundant making them something anyone can find
Mattel could release more of the same models - in Lesney times MBX models were available to all @ normal prices. but for some reason they believe it's good for their business to have unofficial after-market dealers taking the best of pegs in the main stream trade
I don't need a super or a premium in my collection, I just prefer opening mainlines that I like and putting them in my collection, oh and I also fix the cards after opening instead of throwing them away
Scalpers are the worst. You know... Mattel does not care one way or the other for they make money regardless. So... I stopped collecting because I know that scalpers are everywhere and, in my opinion, they are ruining the hobby. They and they alone are the reason why the excitement and the thrill of finding the coolest stuff is diminishing. If you're new to this hobby, that joy you have now won't last long. My new hobby is more fun, and has no competition, and still involves diecast cars... but without the constant feeling of utter disappointment caused by not finding that one car to complete a set. I do my own mods and customs, and they are worthy of display and worth my time to endeavor in. I also sold over 80 percent of my collection for half of what I paid for it. The reason behind that decision, I needed room in my home, and it was no longer fun for me. I had been collecting since 1996. Scalpers were a problem then and they are far worse today. A prime example of how I know scalpers are terrible people, is the 1996 VW drag Bus. In 1996, Hills department store had the box set of the First Editions. I wanted that bus because I couldn't find it in a single pack anywhere, so I wanted the box set. Long story short, two different Hills stores had four box sets in each one. They all had one missing vehicle in each box set... the VW Drag Bus. That was then. Now you have employees who have gotten into the game and when a new set of premiums arrive, the chase gets taken before it even sees the peg. The hot car in the set gets hidden by employee and purchased later by employee. I actually found this to be the case at several Walmart and a Target stores by other employees who blew the whistle on them. When your happy makes you angry and frustrated, that's when it's time to get a new one. That's what I did, and I have no regrets.
It's not easy to find a TH, let alone an STH. I only have one Treasure Hunt in my collection, but I only noticed it now because as a child I had no idea about any TH and STH. It's a pity that it is very scratched and a lot of the inscriptions have rubbed off because I kept it loosely with other toys.
in my country, STHs are already sorted out from the toystores' warehouse or toystoreclerks already got them. That is why I gave up on hunting STHs and hot JDM cars from hotwheels
I don't even focus on 1/64 to begin with. Not only are there many other brands for 1/64 that are better in quality, such as minigt, you can also elevate your game by collecting larger scale models, such as 1/43 and 1/18. I personally collect 1/18, but did collect hot wheels occasionally when I was a kid. But it's important to set a limit for yourself and manage your inventory, because as you collect more and more models, you will have less space, which may cause you to resell and potentially become a scalper.
@@yongling9825 yes, but unfortunately people often want the best out of everything, unless it's something urgent. Also, you must consider the costs. From a seller perspective, there are many costs to selling, such as selling fees that many selling platforms such as eBay charges, shipping costs, and some sentimental value depending on the model. For instance, if you had to move out and have limited space for your hot wheels collection and decide to sell a skyline, would you sell it for $1-5 when selling fee is ~$1 and shipping is ~$5?
@@yongling9825 there’s shipping cost, selling fees on selling platforms, and some sentimental value. Unless it’s urgent like moving out soon, people won’t list at wholesale price online. Everyone wants to profit, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you had to sell a skyline model that you bought for $1.5 for example, would you sell for around the same price when shipping is $5 and the selling fee is $1? On top of that, it might also be your favorite model so would you value it cheaply? You also have to think about other external costs such as the distance you traveled from home just to drive to target and make a purchase and the time you spent treasure hunting, researching, etc. I’m not really speaking out for the scalpers, but this is just another perspective to consider.
Great commentary on this hobby. Totally agree. Why buy a STH from a scalper when a premium version of that car already exists by another brand and is way better quality?
A few months ago, I found my first STH in the wild: a Fiat 500D. It was a glorious moment. The cashier looked at it for a second, shrugged, and took my money. I left the store and vowed to quit collecting this year. I'm done. As far as I'm concerned, I've won at Hot Wheels.
I would never buy a STH from a scalper, but a few days ago I was looking at a hotwheels display box at a pharmacy when I somehow found an A case (they had that for some reason) Ford Escort STH and I was so excited to find it
I've been interested in car diecasts over the past month and discovered these hot wheels STH cars. Pretty good and funny summary video for the introduction into car collecting.
Really enjoyed this video, and you're right , I live in a small town and people here buy up all the good ones before anyone else gets the chance. Don't get me wrong, I look for the supers and the regular TH but that's not my main goal. Me and my 2 boys buy what we like. I usually try to get 3 of anything we get because I have a sealed collection a loose collection and my boys get an extra if we find it.
Omg ive been looking for that porsche key chain since it realeased. I found the coupe casting 2 years ago and hung it on my truck mirror but that porsche is a must have. what a lucky grab. Love the DMC too. Thats the one i dont have added to the BTTF collection along with the western variant. Though i have all 3 in nano scale. But never for 2000$🙄🤦♂️
Currently, I had 2 supers in my collection, both of em are in Malaysia and naturally it appears on the pegs. Not at Toys R Us or other toy stores, these two appeared in two different pharmacies which is weird.
@@KnifeGuy_ If you have no intention of reusing the original wheels, you can cut the axles behind either two wheels, pull the assembly out and replace them with aftermarket 1:64 wheels like Carlomo, Puff, etc.
Asking prices are different from sold prices. That's another factor collectors need to put into mind before buying diecast cars online for chases or Sth cars.
Dam that delorean must’ve really traveled for 2000 lol. Some people really pay for those prices is what blows my mind. But o well can’t do much about it. Other than helping each other out
The thing that i find funny about HotWheels collectors...is that they collect all the cars, EXCEPT, HotWheels. If i want a Nissan GTR i will buy it in a big scale. I buy HotWheels for the cars that only HotWheels has
and all that effort to have a profit of 50 usd! LOL! They behave like finding a super treasure hunt will change their lives! Its a 50 dollar profit come on! These people are weirdos.
I have one regular Treasure Hunt in my collection. I didn’t even know it was a TH until I got home. I don’t actively look for them and I won’t buy them from scalpers. On the rare occasion that I’ve have bought something online ( just a regular mainline model) I’ve always ended finding it at my local store a few months later. Patience is the key. I’m an opener, if I did find a STH I would open it and put it on the shelf with the rest of my collection.
Why i dont really like sth: 1. Why get a car if your not gonna open it? 2. Mostly better for resellers not for collecters (which i am one) 3. Some mainlines are wayyyyyy better looking 4. Some premiums look better
I do not care about super treasure hunts anymore. But i am very very annoyed with Chase in premiums. I was not annoyed with the black version of the cars that were essentially the same as the regular ones in the set. But i really hate Mattel now when they released Rexy & Roxy Porsche. They made the green porsche pink!!! This did not made it a chase anymore but is a variant. And it is really annoying to find without paying a kidney price for it. Damn you Mattel...

Oh yes bro at one of my local Walmart the supervisor is in with two guys they literally take all supers and premiums out before it’s gets on floor and I did notice that and was thinking it’s okay to ask for box from the back and I did ask so employee helped me and got the box and when that supervisor saw it he was like no no no we don’t do this here …. I was like okay but why dose other get to do this and he was like I don’t know anything sorry we don’t sell this to you. I just left
👍😎 video 👍😃 I have the same mind set...... If i stop at a store will there be any supers? Any regulars or mainline cars id like to find? Lol Im happy if i find one in the wild but i dont chase them
New collector here, and I’ve somehow been able to find 2 supers in the past month. That sounds like I’m really lucky, but I’ve been to at least 50 stores in the past 30 days… saying it’s hard to find is an understatement.
@@WalterWhite-e1e You're not really lucky, I call that extremely lucky. We had a few live unboxing sessions in the past weeks and some were lucky enough to be handed an STH when it's their turn in the queue. One of them was even left in a bag of refused Hot Wheels because the person that was handed it probably had no idea it's an STH.
I had one in my hand and someone yanked it away from me telling me that I didn’t need it. And I was just buying it for my son a seven year old. This is why I don’t really like idiots who try to collect them for their very own and charge premium.
For the longest time I didn’t even know super treasure hunts existed, and it makes sense because nobody would have heard of these things if they weren’t all over hotwheels RUclips and social media
The concept of supers is great but I think they are too hard to find for the amount of collectors there are nowadays. Personally I think they should remerge the RTH and STH
I have never bought a super yet i have found 26 of them and yep i open cases when i see them and have found multiples of each and i use them to trade i do not sell nor buy anything unless found. My job involves driving all day so hence the chance to stop at stores and hunt

I didn't know there was a key-chain version of the Porsche. I've been using the Clip Coupe, but am a bit sad because the paint has rubbed off from going into my pockets all the time. That one looks like it's bare metal, will definitely keep an eye out for one.

Also, I found building a trade group is extremely helpful. Plus, for me, it's more rewarding finding models my trading buddies want, than finding ones for myself.
Have a great day! Happy hunting!
Yes patience and no fomo. Thanks so much for watching 🥰🥰
Oh wow!
What STH is this?

I couldn’t agree more, I recently got into the hobby, and it’s wild to me how people and/or employees at stores will just grab all the STH, save those for the kids, after unsuccessfully trying to find some I started buying RLC and Kaido House solely, the latter has WAY better detail, even more so than miniGT in my opinion (which they collaborate with). I donMt ever open any of mine so I’m buying top tier to put away for a decade or so, pull them out and sell them later on
Sth are not worth it...thanks for watching man
Brooooo I got the Porshe yesterday and put my keys on it right away. I dont know how many years passed after the last time I opened a hotwheels' case. Felt really good. I put some nail polish overit, hoping the logos last a bit more. Cool video! God bless you!
Is this the silver one?
@@yongling9825 Exactly. There's a white and blue variant, but the silver one is the one I really liked.
Nice!!
That is why now i am collecting Tomica, MiniGT, Greenlight etc except Hot Wheels.
Awesome!
I know young people grew to be adults and some can't let go of said hobbies but if you buy expensively from resellers then you're just dumb imho (unless they're bidding the item)
Also I just found my first sth which is the 83 Silverado in a very small retail store on the peg. Ripping them open as a reminder of not being in for the hype
Congrats I'm happy for you! Did you open the sth?
@@Lar.Real.Diecast i did. it's my first treasure hunt after all. Just cut the top of the plastic so i can kinda reseal them.
all i wanted to do is to compare it to the basic ones and adore the detail it has as a sth. The shiny chrome 5-spoke wheel and the metallic dark blue colour really made it look better than the mainline ones.
right now I just put it back in the card keep it in a protector so it'd look fresh perfect as how i find it first in the morning of that day.
I've only found one STH in the wild. I gave it to a trading buddy because they collect that make of vehicle. They opened it and display it loose.
The way you put this together was brilliant 😂👌

As a MiniGT, Pop Race, Tarmac Works and Inno64 diecast 1/64 collector my self is beyond me that scalpers are reselling TOYS from a TOY brand like hotwheels with no details and AWFUL rims at the same price or more than a real collection piece from a collection brand with insane attention to details.
I mean, don't get me wrong, everyone is free to collect whatever they want, but would you buy overhyped rocks that you can get for free from the ground only for the hype?
Yess
I found my first treasure hunt ( Mitsubishi Pajero) at my first car meet at a advanced auto part, i truely do not care for em, or dont look for them, but that same mindset of checking always lingures into me ( definitely a mind control) rake us back when hw cars would have style to them and were new 24/7, but now its always a reskin and rarely get new ones on shelves 😔
Psychological feature of the hyped sth... Love it (sarcasm) 😏 thanks 4 watching
Maybe..🤔
My best friend who introduced me to hotwheels collecting only collects hypercars now. they have higher value than jdms
Right. Half the case never makes the pegs here. Its annoying.
Smart move. I only collect vintage now, so I stay out of the scalper rat race
SN?
Tomica Premium does have their limited variant in the form of "1st edition" that comes in special red boxes. These red box variants are more limited than their standard black box versions but still much easier to find than those stupid Super Treasure Hunts.
lol can't really compare finding Tomica Premium red boxes to supers,
I fell in love with tomica...too bad they dont sell them here
Supers are only stupid if you never find one.
Another good tip is to collect the Ultra Hots. They are practically STH's already with the spectraflame paint. Just drill em out and add some real riders. The series is all License castings of different styles. Including Muscle cars which are my personal favs. Make the hobby work for you, an not for the hyped up scalping.
The hype is so deceiving...😞
Those other ytubers sure are lucky huh 🤔
Only 5% of my collection is HW , and NEVER found a STH. The other 95% is AW ,JL , M2 and Greenlight. I'm willing to pay for more realistic diecast and the card art looks better than HW.
Yes im starting to lean that way
What business? They are barley making any money selling mainline for a couple dollars more. Scalpers are pathetic and a joke. As long as we all don't buy from them they will go away. Love the video bro
Thanks so much for watching ❤❤❤
Street wiener 🤣🤣
If these STHs would be metal/metal, then I would be interested to actually hunt them.
This is the way
@@Lar.Real.Diecast Mandalorian-approved 👍
I’ve collected since the early 2010s and have never found a super….
Oh wait, but other ytubers find them like everyday......🤣🤣🤣 They sure are lucky
Love the fact that you actually take the cars out of their cases. Just got hold of a Porsche keychain myself.
Well, Hot Wheels needed to create something to bring more attention to their diecast cars and they did, now we gith each other for them ...
I have the same porsche keychain. My girlfriend found it. I hung it on my rear view mirror from my project car
Its beautiful!
That's what I did, and I have no regrets.
whoa thank for watching and taking the effort to write your comment, i feel you, im feeling also like collecting lego...but so much space is needed
@@Lar.Real.DiecastYes. This is why I didn't buy myself any new LEGO sets. That and I haven't seen anything I really like a lot yet.

That's sad to hear, but anyway lets not pay attention to the super hype 👍👍
I don't even focus on 1/64 to begin with. Not only are there many other brands for 1/64 that are better in quality, such as minigt, you can also elevate your game by collecting larger scale models, such as 1/43 and 1/18. I personally collect 1/18, but did collect hot wheels occasionally when I was a kid. But it's important to set a limit for yourself and manage your inventory, because as you collect more and more models, you will have less space, which may cause you to resell and potentially become a scalper.
I mean, couldn't one resell their extras for the same price they bought them at or mark them up just a tiny bit (enough to not be labeled as a scalp)?
@@yongling9825 yes, but unfortunately people often want the best out of everything, unless it's something urgent. Also, you must consider the costs. From a seller perspective, there are many costs to selling, such as selling fees that many selling platforms such as eBay charges, shipping costs, and some sentimental value depending on the model. For instance, if you had to move out and have limited space for your hot wheels collection and decide to sell a skyline, would you sell it for $1-5 when selling fee is ~$1 and shipping is ~$5?
I love 1/18 too ❤❤ too big thoug
@@yongling9825 thats what I did lawl..buy for 1 dollar sell for 1 dollar.
