Wow this video is amazing! I just got a ficus ginseng, I’d love to make it into a beauty like you did, but I’d probably just kill it in the process. Still, amazing work!
Non-organic. Here I used pure pumice. I have since gone over to using a mix of pumice and lava. Some people like using some akadama or pine bark with that mix, try it out and see what works for you!
Hey there :) First of all thanks for the sub and the nice comment - what I am trying to do is make Bonsai accessible to young people and show things that can be done with little money. I started out on Instagram and have only recently gotten into RUclips. If you'd like check me out on Instagram for more - but I'll keep uploading here as well. Have a nice day :)
This is a great clip and given me a lot of inspiration as a beginner. I was wondering could you tel me the type of soil is this your using because it looks great better than brown soil. Thank you Martin
Hey there Martin, The soil I have used here is pumice, it works well with Ficuses. The second video on this particular tree will be out soon, stay tuned!
@@martrobs9899 no worries, glad to help. Nowadays I use a mix of pumice and lava for my soil. You can also combine that mix with akadama or pine bark and see what works for you. Akadama and pine bark usually mean you don’t have to water as often
@@Bonsaifly that’s a mix I didn’t know about. I’ve got a bag of akadama, kiryuzuna , Kyodama which is good for pines & junipers as I’ve learned and I hope might a mix of all tree will be good for my new Buddhist Pine 🌲 Ive also got a Japanese maple Acer Palmatum Deshojo 🍁 any tips soil or mixed soil I’ll need when I repot it next spring
Okay man I see u ! that ficus looks pretty nice after you put the wires on it, On mine, I have a few branches and leaders growing from the same point , like a trident u see ? But if I cut those I feel like it's going to remove that canopy effect wich I like... some ideas if u see what I mean ? Ty for the video
Hi can you please advise.i have a ginseng ficus which I have left outside for a few months. I've noticed that the leaves have turned brownish ,although there is new growth I'm just not happy with the leaves as they seem to be curly as they're growing .I have it for 5 years now and haven't repotted or pruned .

You can always try! Put it in a transparent plastic bag for a couple of days after repotting and it’ll survive the transition well!

Hi! Thanks for sharing. Did you use inorganic soil or semi-organic?
Non-organic. Here I used pure pumice. I have since gone over to using a mix of pumice and lava. Some people like using some akadama or pine bark with that mix, try it out and see what works for you!

Hard to say from your description but maybe use some wire?
@@Bonsaifly maybe you are right lol , ty
I thought you were going to remove that ginseng trunk and give it new roots
I am actually trying to turn them into a trunk. It just takes a while
Your works are great
Thank you - I am working on more videos, they’ll be coming soon :)
What was the soil? 3 kinds?
Nope just pumice in this case
I trimmed on mine today. Unlike yours, I'm trying to get the top to fill in by cutting off weak branches that only has one or two leaves. 🪴
Check out the newer videos on this tree (shorts). You can see that it has filled in great
You shouldn't change the title of this video to 'repotting ginseng ficus'. It's no more of a bonsai than it was before
