- When you're at a beach resort, you're probably going to be spending every waking hour near the water. For a lot of resorts, you get some sand and water, but the Barcelo Maya Grand had some absolutely incredible things to see and do at the beach that I wasn't expecting. It was such a bonus to get them and really made me happy I stayed here. Also, the resort has some adventure activities and other extra-cost things in case you are looking to change things up a bit without having to leave the resort.

It sounds like you said that they will let you take a hobie cat out yourself. Is that the case? I’ve always been to resorts where an employee brings you out by default.
I think you could if you knew how to sail them. I'm not 100% sure since I never sailed it on my own, but I think that's what the people at the desk said.
Out of the 4 entry level hotels, is there one hotel you preferred out of the others?
They all had strengths, but I picked Colonial because it was central, had the kids play area, and had a good mix of rocky and sandy beach areas. But if you aren't looking for an easy spot for families, then maybe another one might be better.
Can you please let me know if we can see the dolphins if we stay at the Barcelo Maya beach?
The dolphin pool is in the center of the resort, so anyone staying there can walk by and watch the dolphin show.
Did you have to wear a mask and social distance or did you go pre-covid?
I went before but from what I've read the resort's current policy is that masks are needed in buildings but not outdoors. Since the resort is at low capacity it pretty much forces social distancing since people can spread out as much as they want.

Can you book ala carte ahead of your vacation?
When I was there you couldn't book before you arrived. But you can book them as soon as you check in.
