Just thinking about most likely having to play Link's almost death and Zelda's sacrifce is so heartbreaking. This is Crisis Core all over again. You know what's going to happen and that you are powerless to stop it.
In the original Hyrule Warriors, you get to fight giant bosses. For this game, imagine if guardians were among such bosses. Imagine fighting one, then two at the same time, then four, then eight, then 16....
Imagine Link's final stand at Fort Hateno playing out like the final level of Halo Reach; just facing off against endless waves of Guardians until his hearts reach zero. I don't know whether or not Nintendo would actually be willing to do that, but damn would it be appropriate.
Oh god yes. I would definitely prefer a gameplay section which you are destined to lose. I don't want to win, only to lose in the cutscene after. I hated that about Xenoblade 2 especially. You kick the enemy's ass, and then in the cutscene they are totally fine... and actually have the upper hand on you.
@@MonsterMaze I'm with you there. I hate it when games do that. If you want to send a message that your character can't win or the enemy is too powerful. Then make sure they are exactly that and you lose the fight.
Here's a thought, you have a multi-phase battle based on time. You have to clear the first part out to actually complete the mission, but after that it starts spawning one guardian the first minute after you "win." The second minute it spawns two guardians. The third it spawns 3, and so on. By the time you get to 10 minutes guardians are literally spawning in numbers you objectively can't defeat in that time frame and you just get overrun. Terrifying, but thematically on point.
Honestly, after having played (and enjoyed) Age of Calamity’s weird, non-canonical time traveling story......the version of the events and possible gameplay scenarios that you two have placed here are faaaaaar more like what I wanted to see from the game. Again, that isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy the blend of the champions with a feel-good storyline, but I was ready to be wounded and to feel the emotional trauma of the calamity itself. I really wish we had gotten to see the actual canonical events of the calamity as advertised by Nintendo, but I understand why Ninty wanted to keep their baby out of 3rd party hands i guess. Absolutely excellent work guys, I really hope that BotW 2 delivers (and soon).
Yeah, as much as I do really like AoC, it just would have been so amazing to expirience this horrible event hands on. I mean, imagine playing a game where, no matter what you do, you *fail.* (Or maybe it would have 2 different endings.) Plus, it would have been really cool if the end of the game was just the start of BotW.

There are a few moments which I really would love to see in Age of Calamity: the Champions' defeat at the hands of the Ganon blights, the battle at Blatchery Plains/Akkala Citadel and Zelda sealing Ganon and herself in Hyrule Castle while Link's placed in the Shrine of Resurrection (which may very well be the last cutscene in the game).
@Fluffynator Well, after placing Link in the Shrine, Purah and Robbie make their way back to Kakariko Village to talk with Impa, before heading off to the Akkala and Hateno respectively. Maybe you can play as them having to make their way to those places.
@@david_laranjeira I hope they do exactly that. A wonderful showing of how darn powerful she is. But it's mixed with the sadness of the situation. All that power and Zelda can't bring back her lost friends, her near death knight, or erase the Calamity Ganon. And yet still an awesome battle or two where Zelda is just smoking boss enemies on her way to the castle.
I get that. In many ways Zelda theorists consume and analyze Zelda to the point where they could be considered experts. Part of the fun is either just listening to someone really passionate about something, or to see how close their thoughts were to yours or if there is anything they caught that you may have missed (or vice versa).

I hope Links final stand at Fort Hateno plays out like the ending of Halo Reach where you keep fighting wave after wave of enemies until your eventually overwhelmed.
Glad this is a series! I never thought about it before but BotW is such a sad game, now with HW: AoC we'll get even more sadness. I love the characters i this game, Impa, Purah, the monster weird dude.. I wish we get to see them in HW, really love how they made a canon prequel, can't wait!
Despite never seeing any gameplay of them I could totally see Young Robbie, Purah and Impa as playable characters, in which case it's possible that there will a gameplay section right before the last one with Zelda where the three of them must protect link from enemies while securing the shrine of resurrection, possibly from an attack by Ganon using his forces to actively try to prevent link from getting to the shrine (which is thwarted for 100 years shortly after this mission by Zelda).
Actually now that I think about it there are a bunch of guardians around the great plateau so he possibility of that area being used for a battle during the calamity is very likely.
The story scenario for Age Of Calamity is already golden, and I hope Nintendo and Koei Tecmo can nail the characters dialogue, and accompanying music. Age Of Calamity has the potential to be one of if not the most grandiose, poignant, and heartfelt narrative's ever told in Nintendo's history.

How often do you see that out side of RUclips premium seasons! grate work everyone :) also I love how the intro sounds like an audio book.
Age of Calamity definitely will have about 1/3 ou half the game playable before Ganon awakes. I know your intention is to depict what hapened during those moments, but seeing link using the soldier armor, or zelda with her normal attire, and aluding to the memorie with link having defeated all those monsters in Death Mountain, I can see them using a lot of fights just against those monsters, before the Guardians are corrupted
Could you imagine how terrifying this would be if it happened in the real world? Under some important, government structure, completely unknown by everyone, erupts a massive, hate-filled specter, a demon, bent on destroying everything and killing everyone.
Well not completely unknown since they were actively preparing for it and apparently had evacuation routes set up according to this video. That said, the laser death robots were supposed to be on _their_ side, so still plenty terrifying and even then
Monster Maze at his best! I enjoyed every second of the video, looking forward to the rest of the series. NBC's voice is a great addition. I envision you two together locked in a room studying every aspect of the game, books, trailers.... Awesome!
@@WizzyRadius Yeah...well, I guess it did clarify SOME events that occurred in the BotW timeline, and I generally like the Terrako plot and his relationship with Zelda. Hopes up for the BotW sequel! :)
Props to putting together this series. Said it in the second part, but this is an awesome thing. So much gameplay possibility for all these main characters as they journey across all of Hyrule on their respective tragic journeys. One thing I'm taking away from all this is how utterly tragic Breath of the Wild is. Has this Link had the most brutal road in the series? Maybe he hasn't, but it feels like it to me. Thrown into a full blown war that doesn't end well. His companions in the champions, his comrades in the knights, his family, and even a potential love interest in Mipha all get killed. Or if they survive they pass to old age. Even after piecing together his memories (to whatever degree they are by the end) he's in a world that is completely different from the one he knew. But unlike Ocarina of Time, this Link doesn't have time travel to go back with. All he has by the end of the first game is Zelda. Admittedly having your main love interest is definitely something. But he's still got a whole other adventure in the sequel to get through. Not to mention Zelda's journey and she's got a pretty pristine memory of how much she's lost. Regardless of how dark the sequel is, it sure feels like this coming trilogy is going to be heavy on the darkness and tragedy side of things.
This is fantastic. I cannot wait to see the next parts, the quality on display here is insane. This series is looking to be a masterpiece MonsterMaze, huge well done!
This is just spectacular, thank you so much! I can't wait to watch the rest. It never dawned on me just how far Zelda had to travel by herself through Guardian infested lands to deliver the Master Sword to the Deku Tree.
One thing to note, I think Zelda’s moveset will *have* to change to be based on her sacred power in that final segment - the Shiekah Slate ends up with Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, meaning she has to give it up when she sends Link away, basically trading the slate for the master sword.
I can just about picture the ending of Age of Calamity: Before Zelda goes to face Ganon, she turns around to face the Great Plateau as if looking to Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, saying something like “See you in 100 years, Link” *Roll credits* And at the end of the credits we faintly hear “Open your eyes”
This is awsome! I thought others were already uploaded until I saw it had been uploaded 18 hours ago. I was sad. IT'S SO GOOD. Can't wait for more. Minor detail I noticed myself. In the memory where Link defends Zelda at hateno fort, he might not be where you think he is. He is NOT standing in front of the wall. He's not between the guardians and the wall, he's actually behind the guardians. I could figure this out by examining the landscape in the background and you can even see the two guardians Link destroyed if I remember correctly. I couldn't believe it when I discovered and denied it. But yeah, he wasn't defending the wall, it's weird. My theory is that he gave up defending the wall because saving the princess was the biggest priority, so he tried to sneak away with her and that's why he's so far from the wall. Another theory I have is that the guardians eventually noticed Zelda and she became their main target. Link must have noticed that the guardians were no longer trying to get past the wall and were just aiming for Zelda. He must have found this to be too dangerous and tried to get away, and this would explain why the guardians seem to be looking for them at the beginning of the memory. What are your thoughts about this? What are your explanations? Would love to hear it.
Well, it is still possible that the fight initially started in front of the wall. I mean, its a way safer option to be there with the Militia at the fort having your back than to be far out into the field with no backup. The scene where Link almost dies starts after most of the battle has already taken place. So there is a big chunk before that missing from the event. They may have moved further up into the field at some point, perhaps to make a run for it towards Kakariko Bridge, and towards the village. But the Guardians just kept on coming, and Link was barely able to move anymore. But who knows. We won't know for sure until we actually see it play out in Age of Calamity ^^
Dude, this just brought to life that story, I nearly cried just now. So glad this is just part one of what is going to be an awesome series of videos. And I'm so excited that there's going to be a prequel to experience this for ourselves!!!!!!!!
This video is so well done! It is so clean and the animations look so good! If the Calamity Map video is still on the table for after AoC and it has half of the care put into this video, it may be one of the best videos on RUclips. I love your content Monster Maze. 10 out of 5 stars!
What an amazing video. Incredible work on the detail showing us the path Link and Zelda took, then Zelda's path back to Kakariko, to the Korok forest then to the castle. This game is going to destroy our hearts. My tears are on standby.
This video was so amazing! The details are insane I love your speculation that we will be able to play as zelda in the last part of the game (with unlocked sealing powers!) would definitely love a dramatic ending level where you’re practically invincible !
I think the inclusion of the egg guardian being a time traveler is going to make the game even darker, if they end up still failing in the end. Think about. Whereas before they didn't see it coming, so they wouldn't have as much to blame on themselves, but now they know it's coming, know what will happen, and still weren't able to stop it. They failed despite thinking they had all the cards to win. They have false hope
*AOC SPOILER WARNING !* . . . . . . Though I really enjoyed the story of AoC, I'm really disappointed that we did not get to see the real events of the day of the Calamity. It would have been so tragic, heartbreaking and fucking good to see. I get why Nintendo chose to do a What if scenario for the sake of the gameplay and probably because they don't wanna show a game where everybody dies but it's just sad that it will never happen. Maybe they'll do a AoC DLC with the real story but that's very unlikely since it would have to either be a very big DLC or they'll have to trim down the story.
It can work as a side mode with just as big a linear story, they dont even have to change much, the map setting is there, just change the cutscenes and the final fight, just with no runes as we wont get to use any in this hypothetical side-mode.
Also no Astor fight since he would be useless as a minion without harbinger ganon :( Wish he had more light of his own to not seem like a dependent weakling. I was personally hoping he would be like this sort of badass mastermind that kicks link's ass wherever he goes.
I loved this!! You heard about it but actually watching the path they both took for survival is so cool and sad at the same time!!! Excited to see the next videos!!!
2:35 The memory you show and where you start your route it's not Spring of Wisdom, it's Spring of Power, in Akkala. Zelda went to Spring of Wisdom, in Mount Lanayru as a last try to awake her powers, and I think was a part of her coming of age 17 or something like that.
@@MonsterMaze Really !? So maybe that's why your name was mentioned at the end of the video ! You two make really great content. I'm so glad I can understand both french and english. Thank you again :)

I want to see more Zelink's relationship...because from the few scenes I saw...Zelda has no resentment towards Link...not until he gets the Master Sword. So does she gain affection towards him before trying to push him away. ?? As we see in flashbacks she resented him in breath of the wild....I need answers. Plus I want to see what Kass' teacher looks like...and see his jealousy and hatred towards Link for having Zelda's affection. Plus I want to see what he looked like and know his name. And his reactions with Link....we never got any of this in flashbacks....

1:33 That scene actually gets me thinking do you think we might get to live out a few of the memories like that one where link absolutely beasts an army of bokoblins and lynels without a shield as a mission but with a challenge in each mission while most challenges would be optional but things like the no shield vs boko lynel army would have to be played on the first playthrough while the rest of the mission's challenges are optional on the first playthrough
Im sure they will find many cool ways to structure the missions ^^. Im not too knowledgeable about the first Hyrule Warriors games, so my predicitions on the actual gameplay is quite limited tbh.
Seeing the visualization of these scenario's played out is insanely exciting knowing we will soon get to experience them. I cant wait for Age of Calamity to release in November. Both you and NBC did an incredible job narrating and mapping out these journey's. I'm Looking forward to what routes and events the Champions and other key characters potentially come across during the calamity, and then contrasting them to how events will actually play out when we get to play the prequel in a few months. ps. this might be a small detail in the greater scheme of things, but that ~ hope and sacrifice ~ subtitle was ingenious for setting the tone of the video.

This is fantastic. I cannot wait to see the next parts, the quality on display here is insane. This series is looking to be a masterpiece MonsterMaze, huge well done!
Makes a series about the timeline from calamity ganon awakening while using AOF footage for reference.
AOG: haha game go alternate timeline.
Beautifully put together! Loved it. Can't wait for your next one!
This is just spectacular, thank you so much! I can't wait to watch the rest. It never dawned on me just how far Zelda had to travel by herself through Guardian infested lands to deliver the Master Sword to the Deku Tree.
This is absolutely amazing.
Thank you so very much!
I am REALLY, really excited for the rest of these!
Woah those animations were incredible! Oh and thanks to you and NBC for this vid =)
One thing to note, I think Zelda’s moveset will *have* to change to be based on her sacred power in that final segment - the Shiekah Slate ends up with Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, meaning she has to give it up when she sends Link away, basically trading the slate for the master sword.
I can just about picture the ending of Age of Calamity:
Before Zelda goes to face Ganon, she turns around to face the Great Plateau as if looking to Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, saying something like “See you in 100 years, Link”
*Roll credits*
And at the end of the credits we faintly hear
“Open your eyes”
I've been waiting a while for this.
Also, that editing is on point 👌
This video was incredible! Those map animations were fantastic!! Can't wait to see the other parts!!!
I wish we got one :(
An excellent visualization. Your logic seems sound and the video is incredibly well done. I can't wait to see the rest of the series as they come out.
This is just amazing. For me, the best channel to know and learn more about the Zelda franchise.
Keep it up!
Holy crap, this is extremely well done. You and NBC. Bravo!
This video is so well done! It is so clean and the animations look so good! If the Calamity Map video is still on the table for after AoC and it has half of the care put into this video, it may be one of the best videos on RUclips. I love your content Monster Maze. 10 out of 5 stars!
10 out of 5? Wow! Breaking the scale ^^
@@MonsterMaze Your videos really are that good! Looking forward to your next video!
Holy cow. I swear your videos never cease to amaze me and are constantly getting better and better, keep up the great work!!!!
this was a great collab. im excited to see more Zelda content
Damn dude. The more we learn about the history in Botw, the sadder I get lol. Pretty messed up story if you think about it. Amazing job on the video!
It is indeed very sad :(
What an amazing video. Incredible work on the detail showing us the path Link and Zelda took, then Zelda's path back to Kakariko, to the Korok forest then to the castle. This game is going to destroy our hearts. My tears are on standby.
Im sad the tears will be in standby forever :(
This video was so amazing! The details are insane I love your speculation that we will be able to play as zelda in the last part of the game (with unlocked sealing powers!) would definitely love a dramatic ending level where you’re practically invincible !
Age of Calamity is going to be dark, scary, and awesome. I can tell that much
I think the inclusion of the egg guardian being a time traveler is going to make the game even darker, if they end up still failing in the end. Think about. Whereas before they didn't see it coming, so they wouldn't have as much to blame on themselves, but now they know it's coming, know what will happen, and still weren't able to stop it. They failed despite thinking they had all the cards to win. They have false hope
I hate that it ended up being a Weenie hut jr version of botw :(
All the editing was SO on point. Loved this one so much! Can't wait for the rest of the series (:
that map tho!! i was enthralled by the pacing and voice over working with the music the way it did. cant wait for the next parts!!!
This was SO worth the wait!!
Imagine a mission playing as Link at Fort Hateno and the beginning opens with
*Objective: Survive*
You guys have no idea how happy this video make me. Thank you!!
That's some really great work you put in there, I can't wait to watch every part
*AOC SPOILER WARNING !*

Excited to see the next videos!!!
the video is great and awesome, though really I guess they're on horses to get there so fast. Also wanted to point out at 3:25, the scared grounds XD
2:35 The memory you show and where you start your route it's not Spring of Wisdom, it's Spring of Power, in Akkala. Zelda went to Spring of Wisdom, in Mount Lanayru as a last try to awake her powers, and I think was a part of her coming of age 17 or something like that.
First Rinkuto's video and now this! I'm so happy! Thank you for your videos.
Omg Rinkuto, yes! I actually made one of the animations in that video, but I still have to watch it. Thanks for reminding me! ^^
@@MonsterMaze Really !? So maybe that's why your name was mentioned at the end of the video ! You two make really great content. I'm so glad I can understand both french and english. Thank you again :)
Awesome vid! Great timing too - just in time to build hype for Age of Calamity. Looking forward to the rest of the series!!
Your editing skills are phenomenal! So fun to watch
I think this might be your best one yet. Great storytelling.
I am very intrigued! Thank you for this upcoming series and this video.
I'm excited for the rest of the series. Your content is SO GOOD. I really enjoy/appreciate the effort you put into making these videos, Thankyou 😃 This will help with the wait
Such an underrated channel, your animations and the way you explain things are just really good. Hope you get way more subs
This was amazing! I'm kinda late to watching this video since I had a lot of school work but damn, I really love your videos. I'm watching part 2 now!
9:38 with newest trailer having dropped, this has been confirmed, those predictions were incredible
This video is amazing! I'm even more hyped for HW Age of Calamity.
The map graphics are so nicely done. Great video, can't wait for more.
This beautiful thanks for such a hard work and dedication sooo hyped about thia game now thanks to you!
Loved this, makes me wonder if the final fight/level in Age of Calamity won’t actually have Link. I am excited to see the rest of this series, great stuff as always!
This is truly AMAZING work! Subscribed!
When i saw the trailer i was like okay cool but watchin this video MADE ME REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH GOODNESS WE'RE POSSIBLY GETTING WITH THIS GAME 😱💓💓💓 the whole story is so tragic NOW IM VERY EXCITEDDDD 😱 idk it's interesting to get to play a losing battle 😂
The music and effects were so on point here... Watching your videos is just the best and i alway make sure i take my time to rly focus on them 😍 nbc and monstermaze the best voices on the same video? Don't mind if i do! 👌🏽
This is awesome, can't wait for part 2. Y'all did a great job.
@@MonsterMaze ok fair enough can't expect anyone too know absolutely everything but I agree there propably will be good mission structures
That was sooooo good man! You constantly 1up yourself dude.
OMG bro, the quality of this video is impressive. Great job doing the hyrule map, you deserve more suscribers 💙💙
What a good video
I can definitely see where your creative energy was going
Keep it up!
That map is stuning, instantly subscribed!
Fantastic production
I love how Revali had time to write a diary entry before going and fighting the calamity! I would expect nothing less of him tho
Fantastic job! What a treat to watch these videos!
I love that age of calamity is a game that even exist!
I was only expecting botw2
Not a whole trilogy
Seeing the visualization of these scenario's played out is insanely exciting knowing we will soon get to experience them. I cant wait for Age of Calamity to release in November. Both you and NBC did an incredible job narrating and mapping out these journey's. I'm Looking forward to what routes and events the Champions and other key characters potentially come across during the calamity, and then contrasting them to how events will actually play out when we get to play the prequel in a few months.
ps. this might be a small detail in the greater scheme of things, but that ~ hope and sacrifice ~ subtitle was ingenious for setting the tone of the video.
Thank you!
:( im so sorry you were disappointed..
I have seen the two videos and the two are so goooood. This is the best way to wait for more news about the game!(✽^㉨^)
Oh I got my first heart (*^ω^*) And from one of the best Zelda theorists
Your animations are always up and beyond! :D
I see a lot of gameplay potential in this which is absolutely fantastic
This video was so good! I can’t wait for more episodes!
I have to watch it from the beginning beacouse i don't want to lose anything
I just remembered......All of this went down on Zelda's birthday......well that sucks
2:11 I don't feel so good mr. Stark
Nooooo! Please :'(
The map animations were great, keep up the good videos
This was incredibly done, looking forward to more!
