    The Shimano Tranx is no slouch but when Daiwa released the 2024 Lexa 400 it beat the Tranx in every way from reel weight, castability, spool, capacity, frame construction, and the Max drag on the Lexa is almost double.

    I got the Prorex and the Tranx 401A. I like the Prorex better because it has more drag to the Tranx 401A’s 22. I don’t find much difference in casting. My only gripe with the two is that the levelwind doesn’t sync when casting or when fish pull drag. I’m interested in Penn Fathom LP 400 because the levelwind syncs.

      I think I am switching from Shimano to Daiwa. Next reel is a Steez!

  • @stripervince1
    @stripervince1 Год назад +1

    I looked at the tranx but got the Daiwa prorex instead. Couple of reasons. The Prorex has the t-wing levelwind which helps casting giving more friction free distance, has almost 2x the drag. Tranx 18 lbs max, prorex 30lbs max prorex has no side plate issues and is 100 % aluminum frame and has magforce and centrifical spool control. Nothing at all wrong with the tranx, just like the feel and castability of the daiwa better. Its smooth as glass and you cant backlash it even of you try. Its amazing. Plus I like the eva foam power handle better than that plastic looking one on the tranx 1:35

    How do you find the power handle while playing a fish, im in Ireland and fish for Atlantic sea bass from the shore. I need to cast maybe 70 yard's to hit them out far

    • @TUFFBASS

      The power handle is amazing, definitely gives you more power and leverage and feels good in the hand!

    UPDATE**** I found a new in Box Tranx 400 at a local swap meet and bought it. Its def a great reel and will handle a 40 lb river striper that im after. Its beautiful, smooth casting and has a pretty good drag. However... the drag is half the power of the Daiwa Prorex 400 and it goes from almost zero to maxxed out in like 2 clicks on the star...i dont like that ....

    • @TUFFBASS
      @TUFFBASS  7 месяцев назад

      It is a great reel, I haven5 had any issues with it so far but also rarely get Muskie to bite XD

      @@TUFFBASS change your fish from musky to pike! Pike are way easier to catch, get almost as big (i said almost) and are more widespread. I musky fished for years before giving up on them and targeting pike. Way more fun

    • @TUFFBASS
      @TUFFBASS  7 месяцев назад

      I totally agree, I have a few videos of me targeting pike on the channel. They are super fun to target! Now I just need to target larger pike with some musky baits!

      After using both the shimano tranx 400and the daiwa pro rex 400 its no contest the daiwa wins hands down. Cast farther, smoother, has twice the drag l, has better line lay and just feels more premium than the shimano
