That couple in their 70’s made it to the top of the Fall! Great job with y capturing the excitement and beauty of Yosemite! Very useful and entertaining! We’ll look forward to more of your work! Thanks for including the song!
My brother and I climbed this last Friday at 2 am on our way up Half Dome. I’ve got to say, there is nothing like a deserted Mist trail by full moon. Absolutely gorgeous.
@@RecreationLeader cold and windy, and as always subdome was a…treat. Cables not as big a deal as they’re made out to be. But for me finally getting it done was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It felt great to grab the top and stumble back to the valley. Even made it down by 1 pm, but that was thanks to a 1 am start. Now I’ve got to go back and rock climb it. Loved your video, it’s a really great trail.
We were just there yesterday (6/10/23), and although we could not be there earlier to avoid the crowds it was an amazing hike. We started from one of the nearby parking lots at 3PM, and returned at around 8PM. The eye rolls and death stares from our kids soon washed away when we landed at the top of Vernal Fall. Nevada Fall is next along with the John Muir trail. What an amazing hike it was. The views, the experience, it was all amazing. We got soaked so we definitely need better gear.
That water flow was impressive. What an awesome hike. Appreciate all the tips. Glad to have found your channel. Will keep an eye out for future notifications. 👍#16
Apparently the water flow when I went was only at a third of what it could be! Peak flow is May and June and this was done in April!! Thanks for finding our channel, will definitely take a look at yours too. With appreciation 🙌🏼🔥😎
I love your video it's really informative 👌 what month where you up there it looks beautiful. I'm thinking of planning our first family vacation for Yosemite for next year
Just did this March 29! Definitely try to get an early start to avoid people and park closer to the trailhead. The stone steps around Vernal get wet. Bring proper shoes with traction!
I'm About to check out your wawona video tonight... I wanna squeeze in mariposa grove to witness the big ones too I actually think I'm gonna have to make several trips...ha
@@RecreationLeader Banff is super beautiful, along with Jasper. There’s also Waterton as well which is right next to Glacier National Park. I definitely recommend all 3 when restrictions for flying are lifted! 👍😊
This was really helpful. We'll be there in September so I think the falls will be pretty light but the views seems worth it. I'm a little nervous about how hard it will be but we'll just take our time!
Glad to hear this video was helpful! That's awesome you will be hiking this in September, it will definitely still be worth it. I would highly recommend using trekking poles on this hike, it'll make things a lot easier. There were a few hikers we spoke with while filming this video that felt the same as you. We ended up seeing them at the top of Nevada Fall and they were SO HAPPY to have made the trek. Happy trails!
I used iMovie to edit this video, and the songs on here came free with the program. Titles are called, "Greasy Wheels," "Daydream," "Acoustic Sunrise," and "Greasy Wheels Long." Hope this helps!
Thanks for the video. We will be going to Yosemite in a week. If the John Muir trail is open going down from the top of Nevada fall, is it steep going down? Thank you.
Hi there, I would highly recommend going down the JMT if it is open. The JMT is a tad bit longer but offers a different perspective on viewing the falls. The Mist Trail can be hard on your knees going down all those steps. Both trails are steep. You are going to have an amazing time out there!
I love your very informative video! We are going next week (end of April) with our children age 10,8,4. Could they hike to vernal falls do you think? And how long round trip?
Hi there! Going to Vernal Fall has a 1000' elevation gain that would be a struggle for your kiddos. I have seen children hike up it before, though the four year old would have to be carried. With frequent breaks, motivation, incentives, and maybe I game like "I Spy", it may help your kiddos up the trek.; round-trip you are looking at 3 miles. You can also always hike half-way up till you reach the stairs or just hike to the wooden bridge that crosses the Merced River, I can see that being more doable and you still get views of the Vernal Fall. I am sure you are having a blast right now in Yosemite!!
Hi there! Yosemite is limited access this year and is requiring everyone to buy a reservation ticket online at www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10086745 Check availability on the website mentioned above! Let us know if you have any more questions.
Thanks for your helpful tips. We are going at the end of May and wondering if we will be able to make this exact route you did. We have 11 and 13 year old. How long did it take you to finish the whole trip?
Hi there! End of May is the perfect time to hike the Mist Trail, water flow will be at its PEAK. For perspective, if you look at the water flow of the waterfalls in this video, it will be 3x's as much water when you are there! Definitely bring a rain jacket when hiking around Vernal Fall. This hike will take you and your family around 6 hours to complete. For hiking back down to the valley, definitely take the John Muir Trail back down. To access this trail, hike across the wooden bridge on the top of Nevada Fall.
Hi Maria, hiking to the top of Nevada Fall and back can take anywhere between 4 to 6 hours. If you are a strong hiker, it can take you less than two hours to reach the top of Nevada Fall. For a more casual stroll, 3 hours one way. This hike has a 2,000 feet elevation gain.
