  • This is the first lesson from a no nonsense guide to being black and moving to Germany, or anywhere your heart tells you that you need to go. I live in Germany so all of the experience and opinions come from being black in Germany. All topics don't necessarily exist BECAUSE I'm a black man but I speak from a black perspective. This lesson is to encourage you to free your mind from believing that there is no place in the world that you can exist. I am here to tell you that you, my brothers and sisters, can have peace of mind ANYWHERE you desire. Please enjoy the video.

Exactly…!!! One thing I see more often is people who move to a different country, with different culture, different community, different cuisine, etc - but then become frustrated that the new country is not like “back home” - and they find it difficult to subsume. Why go to a new country and primarily concentrate on looking for a “community” like you had ‘back home’ rather than becoming a part of the local community. Embrace the differences, live a different life… isn’t that part of why you left…???

I had some quarrel with ppl from California who came or moved to Germany and believe the entire world is as far-left and borderline crazy as, say, the Bay Area. They call all Germans and the entirety of Germany racist and xenophobic for stuff that is mostly a difference in culture. Even worse when one tries to explain stuff from a local POV on Twitter, they start calling slurs, attack you for being racist, etc.

Probably what I will say in the next few sentences can be viewed as an insult. That said, I think it is something that needs to be said. So here it is:
The first thing you NEED from yourself is the réalisation that in most of Europe you are not seen as a black man/woman. We tend to see the American be that Yellow, Black, White or anything in between.
The second thing, and I truly mean this: From my interactions with mainly black Americans, loose the victim attitude. It works in Amerika, it does not work in Europe or anywhere else in the world.
Sorry, I had to say it, but a few of the people I was responsible for who moved here, returned because of it.

And do not directly interprete stuff you don't like as racism (i.e. the "german stare" wich I have seen POC youtubers think about as such)
Aka: if something odd happens to you abroad, first assume it is a culture shock instead of evilness

I think there's a deeper message that he is broadcasting knowing him personally and a few from this community.
1 he is not playing the "American victim card" that was the case he'd be long gone like others.
More of telling people that are thinking about moving to drop the programming that is put into many minds. Germany is a different dimension. So adapt not Bring the programming with you.
Some of us get it as you in this comment.
This is a message for some that don't and probably never will...Why its a endless cycle of People not adapting

@Paul C Someone asked if I was Sikh because of my handlebar moustache 😂🤣. But seriously, people in Germany as opposed where I am from, and have only regarded me as an American. I love that about living here! I am finally just a man. ❤️🇩🇪

@@ajisroadtrippin5505 For old Germans it is really hard with all these odd looking people. 20 years ago I was at the playground with my kids. On the other side of the playground there was a group of four black kids playing together, the oldest maybe ten years old. After some time this girl came over and asked me in fluent German without any discernable accent about the time. Seems she had to bring her siblings back home at a certain time. Among themselves the kids only spoke German as well. This kind of thing happened more and more afterwards. 20% of the people living in Germany have some immigration background. Lately I have even been scolded by Asian looking people because I did not speak German to them.
Another thing I noticed lately: In Germany there are lots of regular shows about police work (Krimis). Odd enough, in the last few months there were lots of new black actors and actresses included in the teams. And the bad guys/girls in those movies are always white (•‿•)

The mentality shift MUST start before the move. This is how I was able to see deeper into what was helping this decision. The surface stuff was easy to see because I'd grown up with it, but the root of it needed to be really felt and acknowledged for me to get it together and move. I can't imagine leaving my new home and am working toward staying permanently. Ich gehöre hierher. Hier ist mein Zuhause, daß lass es nicht mehr Ende. ❤️🇩🇪🚚

Socialization makes us who we are, but socialization is never complete, it accompanies us throughout life, which is why it is so important to reflect on our actions so that we can develop further and live in new social environments.

Tina Turner once said in response to the question , how she has now become European and how she would have given up the US citizenship "in Europe I was only perceived as a star and not as a star with black skin color" ok it was certainly also because she is married to a German and has to pay less tax in Switzerland. but surely there is a lot of right stuff in their answer. of course there are always idiots on both sides, but whoever opens his self and his heart to europe automatically intregates himself without having to deny his roots.

I have never been to the US. Lately I thing I should visit and make myself a picture. But every single person I meet that is a US Citizen and Left the US has more or less the same narrative of what is going wrong over there. I could not explain it like you do since I don't have the perspective of how it is over there. But I am very concerned about what is going on. People stopped years ago to talk and think they must fight. Which is the end of democracy itself. Surely no place is perfect in the world (except my living room since I got this amazingly soft new leather chair, this chair is the perfect place) but from what I have been told by 100% of Americans in person or on youtube. From all points of view and political opinions is that things are not going well, no one thinks that this will have a happy ending and There must be a change of the system itself. It is just that no one tries to find that change since everyone is already right. It is sad. And frustrating and I just hope there will be a decent way out of this. But just in case I want to tell all Americans who are reading this that you are of course at any point invited and more than welcome. Just don't get yourself in trouble. Come over, find your favorite climate zone and then just sit somewhere with nice people and food and drink and live. The best things in life are free.
    Edit
You got such an important point here. You need to change your mind first and then want the change and we need to understand more what we do not want and act like it. I don't want a certain behavior around me. So I will distance myself from everything related to that. Because I respect myself.
Good Sir, what you say is pure wisdom and masculinity in its most beautiful form. I wished I would have heard that about 20 years ago. My life could have been way more sunny. However, you spread it. In general, the amount of thoughts your content gives me is a blessing.

I guess I finally see the difference between the "Germany awesome" RUclipsrs, like you, Trey or Alexis, and the "Germany racist, white germans all evil" people on Twitter. You all of course experience awkward stuff and likely even racism in Germany. But it's the attitude and the way you deal with it, is it? Hate everyone because Germany is not like the US - or realize not everything bad is about you, try not to blame your new surroundings for the past but appreciate the new culture you explore. Is that the core of your message? Thanks for the educational video. Helps us germans, too. 😁

@@ChristopherLRussell i really like your videos. Most germans are just ignorant and not racist and if a pereon is impolite they might just been an asshole. I am and look very german and experience unfriendly encounters with strangers. If i was black i think they would be racist. But it's just them trying to get off on being an asshole to strangers. Exept that person partikular hated white people i guess. I got a brother and we sometimes experience some hate. In school my lil bro he's 7. He get's called choclate pudding. Sure the kids try to make him angry and they try to get a reaction. But they are kids. I got kalled Kackner (pun of my last name). Kids will pick a thing on you that's easy to enrage you. They don't care about your color. They just want to be mean little monsters. And if you look diffrent that makes life easy. If you don't play the victom in germany i think you can live a good life here. People are just ignorant and that's not bad. Diffrent pigmented people are rare af in germany. Lot's of people be wondering if you bite your finger's sometimes if you eat a snickers.
