impeccable - even preternaturally realistic - scenery and detailing. real artistry on display here. looks like photographs of an "idealized" real world - where everything was kept immaculately clean. damn. this beats even the world-famous Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany. as awesomely detailed as that showcase is - its scenes would never be mistaken for photos of reality.
Your layout is just so darn awesome. I used to be in N-scale back in the 80's when I had cash for model stuff. I, too, modeled Texas with the short trees and flat terrain. Mine was totally free-lanced. It was The Texas Central and Pacific Railroad. Had my own corporate logo and sky blue, black and sunset yellow locomotive paint scheme. Man, I had an empire. Most of my trains were of average length -about 18 cars. we didn't have the modern structures and cars you have today. I had to scratch build my skyscrapers and chemical plants and such, and I became very good at it. My main locomotives were SD40-2's. I had 150 freight cars and 17 locos. Your layout is the finest N-scale one I have seen and of particular interest to me because it is Texas. I love those palm trees and the cool Taco Bell restaurant and you ballast your track very nicely.
That is a fantastic looking layout. The scale of realism is absolutely amazing. It reminds me of the work of Pelle Soeborg's UP Danville Sub, which is commonly seen on Model Railroader Magazine. The BNSF oil train at 1:40 exactly reminds me of the oil trains that runs through my hometown of McGehee, AR, on the Union Pacific's McGehee Subdivision. They run from Tioga, ND to Lake Charles, LA.
I am in the process of building my largest HO layout. No where as large as yours, but 23' X 15' a U with the parallel track to the 23' only 15' all with a 4' wide surface. So I watch every how too and layout I can and I must say, yours is the finest and most realistic of all I have watched. Great job. Thanks for sharing..
Just stumbled across this video and got blown away at how well detailed everything looks, scenery, track and the speed of the trains is awesome!!! Just had to subscribe to your channel and can't wait to see more videos that you have posted and will be in the future! Paul and William have hit the nail on the head, "one of the finest layouts" and Absolutely Outstanding". Again thank you!! D. Muse (WTCMRR)
The detail, the scenery, the variety of trains. Everything looks great. Just one thing the Texas Eagle needs 1 or two more coaches. The UP steam train will sure be the star attraction. Love to see more.
As everyone else just said and I also agree, this is an amazing layout. I enjoy your videos because they are more of today's style of railroading. I personally prefer the modern look. Can't wait to see more and some passenger train videos to come...thanks for sharing.
You do great work. I have watched some of your other videos, but to get to see all the trains in one video was really a treat. I liked your scenery and you well detailed structures and scenes. I model Nebraska and the train traffic and some of the scenery are very similar. You have inspired me to go back and improve some of my previous scenery. Thanks for sharing with us.
Just discovered your layout. I have never seen ALL of the elements that make up model railroading come together so PERFECTLY. I am speechless. I would love to know what you use for dirt. I think it is the most realistic color I have ever seen. Wow!
Thank you. Here is a link to the presentation from 2015: ruclips.net/video/j4i3Z622MeQI/видео.html will make an update with finished scenery on the remaining section soon.
Absolutely brilliant I must admit to a little bit of env ,not the stock but of the skill it took to do this layout. Ok I do have envy for the stock as well.
Love this layout. This one and Kansas City Eastern are my favorites that I've seen on video. I have a good question. Since Texas is mainly flat, why are there pusher units on the ends of these trains?
your layout and pelle soeborg's layout are my two favorite layouts. any plans on doing a layout update. would love to see what you've finished this year.
Amazing layout! I have a small 4x6, and although I'm modeling CSX/NS, your layout is an inspiration! Ever think about having a full run through power train, like a lashup that has UP, BNSF, CP, NS, CSX, and CN? I'd love to see that. Tobias S.
Thanks for the roses :-), all the CTC signals are BLMA (except a few G-Target signals from Atlas) and the bi-directional block signals are NJ International.
The modern Greyhound buses I bought on a train show in Houston. They are made by some guy from Florida, and I tried to find him on the web, but with no luck. Most of the trucks are from Trucks & Stuff
wow your layout looks real u did very good on it I've been looking into this hobbie 2 keep my mind busy so maybe I can stay out of trouble and watching your video now I'm going start me up a layout my grandpa loved trains guess that's where I'm getting from but where I live at they have no stores that sells stuff like this wish they did tho
RMD 2023 well I recently just moved I'm from Corpus Christi Tx but now I'm staying in a small town Abilene Tx but so far I haven't found a good store to get model at I found a hobby lobby but when I went to see what they had it was like kid trains no details at all on them and they have very few accessories for railroad modeling but I'm still looking though
RMD 2023 I got really bored one day I scratch builted power poles modern style I think I did pretty good on them I use thin aluminum wires and for the incolators I used soldering wire I carved them real small to shape them like like the one they use for modern day power lines I'm planing to do some more and post them on you tube to show maybe others could get ideas from it or something
What a great layout. I've never seen the boring strip malls of America done better. You should have a little down time. I mean focus in on structure detail while waiting for a train, then pull back when a train comes. All the trains seem to be racing through at 80 mph. Maybe in Texas, most trains are a little slower.
Thanks for your kind comments. This video is just to present the trains running on the layout, there are other videos on my channel that focuses more on the details. I am working on an updated "Trains on the layout" where all trains are running slower to better catch the details and weathering.
Thanks u have lots of 🚆 train's let me know if you have any Xtra ones for me two r 3. For my passenger car's. God bless you and your family and friends
The roads are made with Woodland Scenics' road system, Smooth-It. In the cities I use Evergreen styrene (2x4mm) strips in place of the paving tape. This way I have a solid plastic base to glue the curbs onto. Curbs are Evergreen 2x1.5mm.
This is definitely one the most beautiful layouts on RUclips!
This continues to be one of all-time favorite layouts. I love your layout and your videos. Spectacular on both counts. ...Roy
one of the finest layouts.....period, always a joy to watch, thanks for sharing your talents with us all

Watching your videos are so entertaining and therapeutic.
This is probably the best model railroads Ive ever seen. Just Awsome!

Thanks for your kind comments. Pelle is an old friend since 1992 and I built the layout from his priciples of realism. He is always great inspiration.

I can't describe your layout in words, it is absolutely amazing.
Thank you kindly :-)

Awesome locomotive models and layout ty for showing your video!!!!!
I definitely remember watching this back then in 2016
Absolutely OUTSTANDING buddy, I sure hope see more in the future.

You're scenicking is the envy of any model railroader.
And that of mother nature.
WoW! Looks like Texas! I've been to most of the towns you've modeled. Except Waycross, of course, as there is no-such, but even it LOOKS familiar.
Great stuff - superb railroad modelling.
Amazing roster. Great video
I love your ho layout. Good job.
Would be sweet to see Challenger 3985 and Big Boy 4014 make an appearance
Just discovered your layout. I have never seen ALL of the elements that make up model railroading come together so PERFECTLY. I am speechless. I would love to know what you use for dirt. I think it is the most realistic color I have ever seen. Wow!
@4:11 the white LEO SUV - VERY WELL DONE!
excellent detail
Next time someone says I have many trains I will show them your movie !!!!
Great parade :-)
Excellent layout!
that'sa cool lashup with the Big Boy
Beautiful layout but I would like to see a wider view of the entire set up. Great job!
Thank you. Here is a link to the presentation from 2015: ruclips.net/video/j4i3Z622MeQI/видео.html will make an update with finished scenery on the remaining section soon.
How Did You Get Your Interlocking To "Dip" Like that? 1:42
It was just pure luck. The diamond is an Atlas (the only available in that angle) the rest is Peco US 83, so it is just slightly thinner.
Ok, Thanks For The Info!
This has always been my favorite layout. You have done an amazing job. Love to watch the videos. Really makes me want to switch to Ho.
Absolutely brilliant I must admit to a little bit of env ,not the stock but of the skill it took to do this layout. Ok I do have envy for the stock as well.
very nice beatiful detail maneing the six types of trains.K
VERY WELL DONE, LOTS OF ACTION. LOVE TO SEE MORE SOMETIME.
Love your videos great rolling stock and no graffiti thank you
Can you do another video with the Texas eagle on this AMAZING layout? I love your layout btw. Especially the crossings :D
excellent, my compliments sir
very very nice I have a layout as well but if I had this layout I would be around it all day. amazing bro keep it up
JAW DROPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you stop the trains on the siding manually with a remote or are they stopping automatically?
amazing layout! Who makes the cantilever style crossing signals where the UP coal train passes?
Thank you. The cantilever crossing was custom built by Tomar Industries.
his tank cars with oil in it look so realistic
very cool video. well done and thank you for the enjoyment.
Like watching real trains go by.
love the layout nice
Love this layout. This one and Kansas City Eastern are my favorites that I've seen on video. I have a good question. Since Texas is mainly flat, why are there pusher units on the ends of these trains?
left speechless!!
beautiful detail a lot of hard work how many scale ft. of track is their on yr layout nice K
About 260 ft of visible main line, plus yards, stagings and hidden ramps.
If he's modelling Texas I don't think CN would be running coal on his layout. CN run through power on a train would be cool and possibly prototypical.
Very nice excellent work
Are some of the structure kits available if so where and a price list would be helpful thanks beautiful layout
Most of the modern building kits are available at: www.summit-customcuts.com
Thank You
your layout and pelle soeborg's layout are my two favorite layouts. any plans on doing a layout update. would love to see what you've finished this year.
Thanks for your kind comments. Iam making a Presentation Part 2 on the last isle of the layout early in 2017
Amazing layout! I have a small 4x6, and although I'm modeling CSX/NS, your layout is an inspiration! Ever think about having a full run through power train, like a lashup that has UP, BNSF, CP, NS, CSX, and CN? I'd love to see that.
Tobias S.
very nice layout where are you all located in Lake Charles?
The volume on the crossing bells needs turned down. They're not normally that loud.
My favorite train is at 9:23.
who is the manufacturer of the block signals on your layout? magnificent layout, just spectacular in every way!
Thanks for the roses :-), all the CTC signals are BLMA (except a few G-Target signals from Atlas) and the bi-directional block signals are NJ International.
Mike Howey
Nice model train video
How u make your road's look like the prototype
Thankm you. They are made with Woodland Scenics Smooth-It road system.
how long has it taken to build this layout?
Since the summer of 2010, using most weekends if I wasn't out of town.
Like your module look like the prototype
Great equipment
Where do you get your Tropicana refer cars?
BLMA made them a couple of years ago in 12 different numbers
Make a 2017 layout presentation
Hi, great video. Wondering where did you get most of your vehicle from? I.e your modern day buses and trucks?
The modern Greyhound buses I bought on a train show in Houston. They are made by some guy from Florida, and I tried to find him on the web, but with no luck. Most of the trucks are from Trucks & Stuff
wow your layout looks real u did very good on it I've been looking into this hobbie 2 keep my mind busy so maybe I can stay out of trouble and watching your video now I'm going start me up a layout my grandpa loved trains guess that's where I'm getting from but where I live at they have no stores that sells stuff like this wish they did tho
Mexaveli Killu do you have a hobby store? LIKE hobby lobby or hobbytown USA?
RMD 2023 well I recently just moved I'm from Corpus Christi Tx but now I'm staying in a small town Abilene Tx but so far I haven't found a good store to get model at I found a hobby lobby but when I went to see what they had it was like kid trains no details at all on them and they have very few accessories for railroad modeling but I'm still looking though

RMD 2023 thanks take care
That was Kool!!!
Does this layout have a website?
No, not by itself, but It has a section of my ompany website: www.summit-customcuts.com/modernholayout.html
Nice layout, but the volume on the crossing bells are too loud and should be turned down.
great video love your layout, if you have time could you try and get more content out?
What a great layout. I've never seen the boring strip malls of America done better. You should have a little down time.
