Ah, I have good memories of my 200sx turbo. I was driving in the snow, stuck on a highway in Ontario not being cleared by plows because of a strike, with my wife and new born in the back seat, in 1997. The car rear wheels, despite winter tires, were spinning and and the car, fishtailing and while I had white knuckles, I love it. Now so much my wife however and she (yes, she) traded it for a Ford escort wagon; more practical for a young couple but never as fun.
Holiday season has been kicking my ass, but now i'm catching up on videos i've set aside to watch when sanity returned. SO good to see it driving. Congratulations on a part victory, and kudos for putting up a fight against this stubborn car.
Now Walle can be free to sutututut on all cylinders! It's nice to see this car running and driving after so many frustrating hours spent troubleshooting and parts searching
Definitely diff noises. Can't remember whether you changed the fluid at any point? Diff noise feels like a victory though with the car running somewhat decently.
The 'boost cut' sounds like the secondary coil turning off under higher loads (as intended), which means the primary coil system may not be functioning correctly.
Could also be the spring in the wastegate is worn so it opens early. I have a similar issue on mine rn but I think it has to do with the secondary coil like you said because I upgraded to a maxspeed turbo and I still get the cut.
@zacharykarr Yep just saw it. Do you think it could also be a distributor issue? I'll be checking both coils again but when I used a spark tester, I had spark in the rear intake side but no spark in the front 2 intake cylinders. I don't remember if intake side on Cone's was completely dead on all 4.
@@JorgeMedellin-t6q Thats a very strange issue. That does sound more like a cap/rotor/wire issue vs the cam sensor in the distributor or the coil itself. Cone's was pretty intermittent vs a dead miss in a specific cylinder (other than the dead injectors). The dual coils at idle should fire both intake and exhaust at the same time, so you should be able use that with your spark tester. But if you're hitting that 'ignition cut' behavior, that is likely the intake coil failing somehow when it enters in the High Load segment.
I did put a fresh set of copper in, as I've been chewing it in my mind it seems to break up at the point it should be switching to only the intake coil so it may be related to that whole deal still.
@@ConeDodger240 I’m wondering if a new plug got hurt from running it with the coil wire broken… also, try looking for spark jump when it’s dark and lights off. Sorry I haven’r seen some your old vids
hey Vice Grip can run the car 500 miles on that stuff why not try it... problem with this car is that so much is both 1 gen and last gen because it the sh!t dint work that the problems was newer documented but keep up fighting you can do it... the wining sounds like its only in the 3 and 4th gear maybe they are worn??

A 200SX video? For Christmas?! we must have been very good in Santa's book
So glad you found the issue after all that frustration

Amazing to see you out on the road, nice work!
After the Christmas I've had this was amazing to watch. Good job Cone!

Great success after a lot of frustration with the 200sx.
Great video, Cone!
Some people in my life also need a bottle of magic fluid.

@@JorgeMedellin-t6q Cone has a new video out with more investigation and solutions. Tldr does seem to be coil (and boost leak) for related

@zacharykarr I'll definitely have to check both but excited to see how cone resolves the issue. Thanks for the help!
Are you still using your Sony AS300?
For in car shots I am yes
Nice! What profile do you prefer to record in natural or vivid?@@ConeDodger240
I use natural personally but haven't really tried both side by side.
Try a fresh set of copper plugs

I think it just gets louder with speed, it's definitely there in every gear
