I love how I need to find a video on RUclips to explain the differences between the type 1 and 2 instead of, you know, finding it on their own website. Thanks for the video. Apparently Magpul simply couldn't be bothered to include the QD cups pre-installed on their stocks, or just provide a simple write up of what each type does instead of the garbled nonsense word-salad they have on the site.
Are the QD cups anti rotational ? I had these Maglula qd cups years ago and they were not anti rotational. It was a PIA, the sling would get all twisted up and tangled. Just wondering if they had changed this.
Pretty good video, I appreciate this. I've got an FX Dreamline bullpup and the stock has nothing. I'd like to fit a QD mount into it somehow and it's looking like I'm gonna have to break out the drill. So this gave me an idea, it's looking like I'll have to drill out each side leaving some meat on the inside to be able to fit one of these. Not ideal but it should be fun. I can't think of a better way. But what you're saying is Type 1 comes with the bolts and the Type 2 is threaded which means you can use one of each per stock to have ambidexterity. Think this is the route I should take then
So am I understanding correctly that you’ve actually purchased/installed BOTH Type 1 AND Type 2 for the front, and again BOTH kits for the rear? Thanks!
From my understanding. If you want the qd on both sides you need the type 1 and type 2 kits. The type 2 is just the treaded cup that replaces the nut on the type 1. You use the type 1 cup and screw, and instead of using the nut you use the type 2 cup.

I agree whole heartedly. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
These should come installed from the factory, especially since it’s a Magpul stock. Just makes sense.
Yes, just add the cost to the stock, cause Magpul certainly aren’t going to give them for free
Totally agree. Total nightmare trying to find out what to use! Thanks to a few great videos like this one to help!
Magpul making it inconvenient where you have to buy 3 separate parts to get 1 job done. Kinda disappointed in magpul
@@Detman329The Ruger PCC stock is the first one I’ve had that didn’t come with the sockets installed.
@@thenoneckpeoplerepresentat8074The SGA stock doesn’t have them installed either.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for, thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much, I'm trying to install these right now and wasn't quite sure if I need to use the nut or not. This video exactly what I needed!

There is no restriction on the rotation of the sling with these mounts.

Yeah, Magpul needs to install these things from the factory
Just another gimmick to make more money. That's all.

So does the Type 2 kit come with 1 or 2 cups?
Just one in each package.
Wait, so if you wanted to install the type 2, you need to install the type 1 first?

Two thumbs up. Thanks

This only shows the cup installation. How in the woods you attach a sling to this?
Magpul QD slings just plug into the holes. A magpul MS4 will work perfectly.
Thank you for the information.
