lots of ways to skin a cat. I personally pulled the exhaust, strut that goes from frame to case in front of tank, and completely removed oil lines from engine and tank. Gives me more room to work, don't have to struggle as much but takes more time. Nice video that shows a good angles, thanks. Also I didn't have anyone assisting me either. I may have missed it in your video, but I put blue loctite on all the fasteners when I reassembled.

If it was a nice shiny (painted or chromed) tank I would cover it all with tape to avoid getting scratches as it gets knocked around a bit in the process. Knowledgeable video - thanks.

This video was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again for putting these out and making our lives easier. I was wondering what year that bike was. Mine looks just like it (2008 Night Train), but my bolts behind the splash guard are different. Only a single little one at the bottom that takes an allan head and the two securing the fuse panel are also allan head...

Hello, If I need to remove the starter... Do I need to fully pull the the oil tank all the way out, or can I just move it out a few inches or enough to get the 2 hex screws out?

This video is really helpful for me. I'm half way there. What I've noticed with mine is when I pulled the two upper oil lines, there was a lot of loose rust and it can enter the oil tank. I used a vacuum while pulling the inner upper line. Some rust debris did enter my tank while pulling the first line. I'll have to find a way to get it our or find a way to flush the tank. Thanks again. 😊

But still, it’s ridiculous that you need to remove the oil tank, just to losen the starter, witch is attached to the inner primary cover, witch i need to remove to pull the rotor out😡🥵 and that all for a stupid little ramp of aluminum😩

I push down and it should simply pop up, mine for some reason is literal stuck into place I’ve tried pushing turning super fast pushing lol and nothing works at all. It’s very frustrating and obviously I need it to work to perform a oil change , have you seen this issue? Recommend a way I can fix it?

Looks like my oil drain line from the tank just started leaking. Do I have to do all this procedure just to replace the drain line? If I replace it, would replace the whole line. Looks like it is made up of 3 lines, Oil Drain elbow, drain hose, and lower drain hose.

Hard to say with out being there, but I would be inclined to only replace the leaking part.

Could you not just replace the pinch clamps with regular hose clamps? Seems like that would make it easier to install than the pinch clamps.

Great video! Just don't know if I can follow the instructions of someone that doesn't know the difference between electrical tape and duct tape. Just kidding. The video was great and super informative. Too bad this all has to be done just to remove 2 bolts on the inner primary plate to replace a belt. Talk about a horrible design!

Why don't you tell people the truth on this job instead of making it sound easy. First of all, Virtually NO ONE sells a long extended 1/4 inch hex long enough to do the job. It's no wonder you made your own. They only sell them online but when you already have your bike torn apart, you don;t have time to order online. Then, there's the issue with the wiring harness. You make it sound like it's no big deal to just move it out of the way. BULLSHIT! They won't budge, even with the zip ties cut off. I suggest you give a difficulty rating so one can make an informed decision on whether or not to do the job themselves. For a professional, it's probably easy but if your not, it's damned near an impossibility. Now my bike is torn down on my driveway with parts everywhere and it's going to rain tomorrow. I need a traveling mechanic.
