EA has been doing life simulations since the early 2000s, so I don't think taking over this title will be that simple.
@@personmuc943 i mean, they were doing simcity games since 2003, earlier actually but EA wasnt publishing them, the first 2 games were by maxis and made independently (released about 7 simcity games,) and paradox did cities skylines

First of all, yes the modding tools and customizability of this game seems to be at the forefront. That's commendable.
But Paradox is just as bad if not worse with dlc than EA.

What you do at the Cell Stage and Creature Stage determine your traits, and your deed at Tribal and Civilized stage determine ethic and civic.

This is EVERYTHING we all thought a Sims killer from Paradox would look like. Making all these tools for your game and then giving them out to the community is a move, which will make this game literally an undying life sim engine. From playing your life in Springfield until playing Walter Frey in the Game of Thrones mod ... everything will be possible.
Since it's a paradox interactive game, the mod support is going to be impeccable, and the mods are going to be crazy. Just gonna count the days until the GoT mod comes TO ANOTHER paradox game.
I can alr imagine the billion bugs that will come with this game 😂

unfortunately Paralives is not going to happen - it's been in pre-alpha for 5 years - at this point it's just stealing money from Patrons.

@@LadyCatFelineTheSeventh Paralives has a far, far smaller team working on it than this game. The devs give regular updates on their progress and there's nothing to suggest they're "stealing money" as far as I can see. It is unlikely to be released for a while yet though.
@@jadehlouise The game idea is too ambitious for such a small team that is lead by a guy with minimal experience. (Pewdiepie's tuber simulator is the biggest game he's worked on...) Life sim games require many complex systems that interact with each other and they especially need fantastic AI, not to mention the vast amount of assets. Look at how hesitant EA is to make a new base game where they'd have to re-do all of that work, clearly the cost to make a Sims game is ridiculously high.
This is the closest paradox players will get to having an actual life

This looks really cool. So far it takes everything from sims 3 that I loved and builds upon it in a way I wish the sims 4 would've. And this is pre-early access footage. I can't wait to see what comes of this game.
If there is one critique I have so far it's that the character models look a tad rough on the eyes. Theyre lacking emotions and look a bit stiff. But I'm sure with time they can be given a natural feel.
Not only does it take that good stuff but it looks smooth too! I know they're only featuring some of the best stuff they have but the transition between characters was instant. The mode switching was fluid. Everything happened very quickly. Sims 3 did NOT have this fluidity, esp after a couple of packs or mods were added.

I'm sure the modding community can deal with the bland character models, there's so much more potential for customization in this game

God knows the Sims needs a serious competitor. I have loved that franchise since 2000/the original and am thrilled to see someone else take it seriously and give the community greater power to have fun with it like the Sims used to do. I will say that the models of people look pretty wooden/rough and hope that it's chalked up to development in progress. I am watching with great interest!!

Paradox has the game creators that make games you can play for 1000s of hours and not get bored

The thing I love in the sims is not the realism of life simulation but the funny moments and strange situations sims can have. This game seems a bit too serious for me but some sims players are looking for this type of atmosphere.
SAMEE. I love the goofy things that happen in the sims. This game is giving me a lot of realism and with no special additives.
Yes!!! The real simsplayers are missing the real essence of the sims : the fun and the nonsense When you can die because a satelite falls on you, or because you’re taking by aliens 🤷♀️
I loved the sims because everything can happens even if you’re trying to have a normal conversation or a normal life 😂

I hope they can make it more goofy. I like the nonsensicalness of sims and its bright silly environment too.

I personally dont like the aesthetics. It is sort of in between realism and cartoon. It gives an uncanny vibe. I am not really a fan of the UI, but it's been an issue for paradox so no surprise. The game doesn't seem to have a lot of population; that might be an issue. Other than that, the idea to customise stories and dialogues is pretty cool.
It will be filled over time with additional stuff and population I guess and also modders will do wonders, already better what Sims 4 offers as base game.

@@Ezullof Your missing the point, the lead guy behind this game was responsible for Second Life, the point of this game is essentially to create a supercharged version of the Sims by giving the players almost full control over game customization and manipulation, so its not that modders are going to "fix" the game, so much that they and the players are given a blank slate to go wild with.
There's like 10 lots per world in the sims 4 so it's not that big of a deal 😂

Lol this seems like an instant smash hit. No matter how flawed Paradox Dlc policy can be some times, it is nowhere as bad as EA. Not to mention the options teased with modding support and game editors!
It really doesn't look like an instant hit. Characters look bad. Options seem pretty limited. There's potential and apparently a lot of tools to tweak the game experience, but that's the potential of the game.
Doing some stuff better than EA isn't enough.

Every frame of this seems like a roast of , and I'm here for it XD But even in its own right, it looks amazing @.@ I've not been excited for sim games in ages, but this makes me interested again. Between Skylines 2 and LBY, it feels like the genre is experiencing a renaissance (and I guess Paradox is the Florence of that analogy)

Right exactly - the whole point is that the Sims NEEDS a serious competitor. This game is more of what the Sims used to be - freedom to mod and and create stories. This is a GREAT thing.

The only flaw is that the realistic style doesn't go well with the "janky" animations. I think a more stylised approach or just better quality animations or graphics would make this game perfect.
It's my opinion and you don't need to think the same way.
It looks fun! The only thing I don't like is how realistic it actually looks graphic wise. I liked the quirky looks of the cartoonish sims. It gave the Sims a vibe I love. So yeah. Still might try this one out!
The realistic look that a life simulation game should have in 2023. Besides, I’m sure Paralives has the cartoony look covered.

@@mnaryobimo8755for those types of games yes especially since rockstar takes their time on their big titles and their games focus on the aesthetic of world immersion. For games like sims where you are constantly at a birdseye view it tends to be a little bland which is why ppl prefer a more cartoony look

Paradox are a great publisher for this type of game. PC centric publisher and allows their games to be supported for years after release.
The team was too small, paradox didn't want to spend money hiring senior devs. CEO just got reemed in shareholder meeting in May. He made up the shortfall by closing this studio to write off for taxes.

Depends on what you want out of it, really. I thought the Sims 3 was the ugliest graphic style ever when it came out (to the point I dropped it for years), but I came back for the great gameplay and now love it for its strengths.
The most customizable life sandbox ever sells me, despite the ugly UI and characters, but until EA everything is hypothetical.

The biggest concern I have is that they seem to be trying for more realism with their characters than The Sims. I know some people complain about the cartooniness of The Sims, but having that kind of styliization is good way to avoid the uncanny valley.
That's a very minor concern as the easy modability means that Steam Workshop will fill up with alternate character models and animations quickly.

Not sure how I feel about this myself. I love that Paradox really tries to push for new experiences and interesting premises, but this trailer does not fill me with confidence. Paralives looks infinitely more interesting than this. I am a huge supporter of Paradox and their teams. I will need to see more to decide whether I would invest the same level of devotion that I have with other Paradox products and Sims.
I agree so much. Paralives developer recently wrote on their blog about how much thought process theyd put into the artstyle, which looks simply gorgeus.
And then you have.. this. I dont know. Lets see who will make the better life sim. Its only good for us gamers

As someone who's put an ungodly amount of hours into Sims 3, I'm very excited!
I'm hoping they don't make it too serious; one of the greatest things with the Sims franchise is that it's random and silly.
Absolutely loving that they're making it super mod-friendly from start.
Would like to see an improvement looks wise on the graphics. Their faces look a little odd, and I don't know... Outdated graphics wise. Though, it's not out yet, so we're probably not seeing the finished design.

I'm still playing the sims 3 lol until I die and then I'll haunt someone who plays it. I love the comedy that EA brought with the sims 3, open worlds, pets, aliens, vampires, omg I love it. I hope the Sims 5 would come close, but it doesn't appear to have much to offer for older fans. Both this and the paralives look visually incredible! I'm excited for both but I do still hope EA will listen to those who have been playing for years because we have kids now and instead of passing down the sims 4 and 5 we are still on 3.
Please let our Cims able to live on the cities we created on C:S2 or even on C:S1

Concept looks quite interesting but I think the UI seems too saturated or complex (but paradox games usually are like that haha) I hope you make it a little bit more clean in the final product, really waiting to try this one and CS2
