- In the video, I talk about some key points of the MYP, specifically for teachers who haven't taught it before. I discuss what makes the IB a framework and not a curriculum, how assessment is done, and drop a few terms that a new teacher sitting in the office might hear more experienced IB teachers say.

What I find really challenging about the IB system is that they reply very much on the teacher to design the whole thing whereas CAIE provides SOW and textbook so teachers could reply on them. When teachers are more supported rather than having to understand things better by taking professional training beforehand, students will definitely benefit from a more stable quality of teaching. The IB website is also very poorly designed to be honest.
I agree. There are few materials for MYP, so teachers must be quite creative.

Does this still apply to academic year 2022-2023? MYP Arts seemd to have a new guide.,, I do not know what exact it is, but I supposed no matter how the new guide changes, the idea of IBMYP maintain the same???
Essentially, yes. Unit planning is basically the same, although each subject guide has its own special traits (such as I&S cannot access criterion B by itself). Read the updated guide and see if there are any significant changes which would inform your planning.

Hello Ana. Where are you doing the interviews at? I am also doing the same. This will be my first time teaching IB if I get selected
Usually international schools will pay for the training for teachers who don’t have the IB certification for their subject, which is what happened for me. Trainings range from live ones that last less than a week to longer ones (asynchronous) that lasted a month across four units.

A great thing about the IB framework is the independence it offers in terms of the content. As for a curriculum, that’s a decision up to the school. For INS, skills are the focus, and those are detailed in the subject guide. Each subject in the IB has one, and it details some of the considerations for constructing unit plans ☺️

I'm 48 and from corporate. I embrace IB system of education and at this age now, I'm keen to move into as IB teacher. Can you guide me how can I proceed? I'm BS (Phy, Math) MS in computers. My interest is in 9-12 grade science. Not to mention I do not have IB experience.
I'm not sure where you're from but here in US, you will need a teaching credential and a IB certificate from a university. That's how I did it.
