Thank you very much. I am new to IB (starting in Aug) so still wrapping my head around everything and trying to understand how to plan. So this was very informative and useful. Thanks
Thanks for the helpful breakdown! I've been trying to learn more about the IB, specifically how teachers use the IB textbooks. Do the two Individuals and Societies textbooks come into play in your teaching? If so, how do the students interact with them, or do you use them only as a teacher resource? Any clarification would be helpful! cheers
My biggest question is how to execute a unit to mirror our ELA pacing guide. In addition, are we dropping letter grades? This venture into the IB world seems to be more work than it needs to be. Great video by the way. Thanks.
Very generally speaking, MYP is meant to coexist with an existing curriculum. I’d suggest instead of the usual summative assessments, create an authentic one at the end of the unit. The ELA pacing guide requirements activities can be the unit’s learning activities. IB does not have numerical marks for formative assessments, and only uses 0-8 for summative ones, but formative assessment can inform the mark the summative mark (professional judgement can be used here). I’d suggest confirming with your school’s coordinator about the specifics for your program. Thanks for the comment!
My school recently changed to the MYP framework and this was of great help. Thank you so much!
