Brisbane might have the worst suburban sprawl in Aus, so the boutique stadium being in the inner city as opposed to in Redcliffe makes sense, I had no idea Ballymore was so inaccessible either and it looks like the Olympic stadium won't be easy to get to either...
Firstly, a great interview & discussion. Now as a victorian living in Queensland currently it's shocking how few national-level rectangular stadiums are with-in the greater Brisbane city area. You've got "Lang Park/Suncorp Stadium" (52,000) than "Ballymore Stadium" (6,000) or "Perry Park" (5,000); or theirs the old "QSAC/Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre" (48,000) but no national team currently plays out of their. Given the 2nd division is stalling; the olympic stadium debate and recently completed upgrades to Ballymore I doubt that Perry Park will get it's much deserved upgrade.
We want to host an Olympics in Brisbane but the actual only stadium that has confirmed upgrade is Barlow Park in Cairns! 😂 That solves no problem at all... what games get played in Cairns regularly that confims where money is spent
Sydney has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to boutique and larger than boutique sized stadiums- Accor, Commbanlk, Allianz, Kogarah, Leichhardt, Belmore, Brookvale, Penrith Stadium, PointsBet Stadium, even Henson Park. For that, we largely have rugby league to thank.
Hopefully with Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympics and with a new Queensland government that has a new plan on stadium redevelopment, hopefully all stadiums in Brisbane will get a upgrade including perry park, the Gabba, suncorp, and even ballymore!!
Perry Park would be an ideal venue for the Roar. They should look at purchasing the stadium outright if possilbe and redeveloping it into a 15k stadium. Or they can do what some MLS clubs do and sign a lease agreement with the state government and spend $50M on the upgrade if they can get funding. As Chris mentioned, if the A-League is to move forward, clubs need to start owning their own stadiums.
Raymond Park at Kangaroo Point would be the perfect location for a boutique stadium. Plenty of space, inner city and a small walk from infrastructure being built for the Gabba.
i always think its a cool looking little ground, could do with a stand on the other side, but ive been intrigued by it ever since seeing australia cup matched thereon tv .thats one thing i like about the australia cup, seeing the smaller grounds in other states and all the teams themselves of course. .......we need another ground in melbourne, id like to see the A league sides have their own stadiums, like Preston Heidelberg and South melbourne surely western uniteds ground will be ready this year,lol.. look after yourself mate looking a bit pale , hope all is good. take it easy.
Personally I think Brisbane Roar need to sort out training Facilities before a new stadium, Men Train at Meakin Park in Slacks Creek which by Roar fan logic isn't in Brisbane, Women Train at QSAC which if the Current Government is re-elected is meant to become the Athletics Stadium at the Olympics while the Reserve/Youth Teams train out at Nudgee Recreation Reserve in Nudgee, Women and Youth were meant to move into a new facility at South Pine Sports Complex in Brendale which again by Roar fan Logic isn't Brisbane but for some reason that has not happened
@@leprachaun42 As far as Roar fans are concerned only the City of Brisbane LGA is Brisbane which is the excuse they use to justify not playing at Redcliffe but in Reality Brisbane is made up of 5 Local Government Areas, Brisbane City which is the largest by population and the centre of Greater Brisbane then you have City of Moreton Bay to the North which is the Largest LGA in Area and where Kayo Stadium is then you Logan City to the South which is where the Roar Men's current training facilities/Football Queensland's HQ are located then you have Ipswich City to the West and Redlands City to the South East

I was supportive at first but I'm now on the fence for 2 reasons 1. I think it's going to cost too much money 2. Roar fans are entitled and Snobby if they don't like Suncorp, they can go back to bloody Redcliffe or move to Ballymore in a few years, but they do not deserve a new stadium based on the fans attitude alone
@@ALeagueCouchCritics There fans think they are entitled to a CBD stadium just for them at the expense of the taxpayer, they can either stay where they are, go back to Redcliffe or move to Ballymore when that is done
The A-Leagues need to be thinking long-term for the growth of the league as well as the sustainability of the clubs when it comes to football ⚽️ specific stadiums 🏟. Investment in our great game is much-needed because the potential is there. Just look at how well the MLS is thriving, where all of the clubs have their own stadiums which they own outright. We almost need a huge benefactor to help bankroll the A-Leagues such as Gina Rhinehart.
Absolutely 💯 % Brad! Their stadiums 🏟 have capacities between 18,000- 30,000, which is perfect 👌 We can both dream that our A-League clubs will be in this position one day 🙏⚽️

Utterly ridiculous. The whole area is flooded every time there is a King tide. It is basically at sea level.
Yeah nah it will flood every 10 years or so

I had a look on Google maps, are there doesn't seem a heap of room to build a stadium there.
Yeah dude, it floods up to the roof line...
Yeah but not every week!
When did it last flood?

They need to resurface with the semi synthetic stuff they use in Europe
even 15-20,000 would be too big for Roar fans. 8,000 per game at Suncorp, pathetic!
