It actually encapsulates how I was able to beat God Tamer. I got pulverized by her and her beast twice, and the third time I tried trial of the fool, I was in the zone. Idk what it was, but something clicked. My brain was instantly predicting both the rider and the beasts movements, seeing where each would land, where the safe spot is, okay, it bounced, If I dash now it should land right in front of me, then cyclone slash, rider incoming, other sude now, and so on. I not only was able to dodge the boss, but I understood the boss, and beaten him by dancing around its moveset. Honestly, the more I thought hollow knight as a dance, the better I got. There is a certain rythm every boss moves in or attacks, and they all include the knights current location.

I actually enjoyed playing Dead Cells more! It's simply more fun and satisfying to play. Nevertheless, I don't consider it a masterpiece like Hollow Knight and Celeste
Get Dead Cells too. It’s hard to tell what’s going on when watching, but it’s really satisfying to play, especially when you get into a rhythm and kill like 13 enemies in a few seconds.
Same in my play through when he needs to help me because it’s really confusing at times he gets really confused because he did things way differently. I also beat like the mines I found the abandoned stag station before the city of tears some how.
@@blueMJS beating deepnest first isn't too uncommon and it's basically made to trap you in, if you stumble into it too early, most people who stumble into it early do actually really like the experience.
(spoiler) for the people that haven't played the game or collected all the grubs. when you collect all the grubs the grub father eats all of his children.
I love Celeste with all my heart, but I totally understand how you feel. I think the worst torture for me would be for someone to record all of my 20 hours + of game play, then lock me in a room and make me watch it. I’d literally go insane

But oh my goodness, what a ride it has been. I think I have around 70 hours now, which probably isn't much considering all the time that has passed since I started, point being the c-sides and golden berries take WAY more motivation than I initially thought. Good luck when you get there! The work will sure be worth it :)

The moment I fell in love with Hollow Knight was when I finally entered the City of Tears. I kept seeing these signs pointing me towards what looked like a city. The entire game up to that point was leading you towards this one mysterious location and I was determined to find this location. When I finally got there, after braving so many obstacles and challenges, I stepped onto an elevator, watched it descend, and a vocal melody began to play with the soft pattering of rain. Then, the name appeared on the screen: The City of Tears. The music begins to swell into the operatic chorus. I walked off the elevator and saw the beautiful backdrops behind me. That was the moment I fell in love.

Yes man. The soundtrack, art, combat, exploration and OH MY GOD, the story telling and how lore is just found hidden everywhere! This game is truly a masterpiece and is definitely stands as a pillar for the Metroidvania genre. Castlevania, Metroid and Hollow Knight are now the standing pillars of Metroidvania games.
I wouldn't say best game, but for me it was the best indie game. I hope team cherry expands, the fact that they made such a masterpiece on their first try is amazing.

Ok yea dead cells isn't fun to watch but when you're playing, and you're in the zone just effortlessly and seamlessly running thru levels takin out enemies is so satisfying

As a gaming husband with a wife who also watches me play, while I love Dead Cells as a gamer, I can completely understand that it'd be a terrible watch from the couch. Celeste was great, anxiety inducing, but my wife has anxiety and depression, and while I already dealt with it well enough, Celeste definitely helped me understand it a bit more. Hollow Knight was amazing, if it felt a bit drab, dreary, and depressing from time to time, but I feel like that was also a big intent of certain parts of the game, so I refuse to detract any points from it.
Without a doubt the best new channel of 2018, it's so refreshing to see a channel on RUclips that is actually offering something I haven't seen before and is genuinely funny! Keep up the great work I want to see you(and your boyfriend) in the YT rewind next year!!!
Fun fact, the design of the main character in hollow knight was designed in an earlier game they made for a game jam. A contest for developers forcing them to make a game in a 48 hours.
Same thing with Celeste, the original PICO-8 (virtual 8-Bit console) version was made for a game jam in 4 days. Back then it was only about climbing a mountain, before they decided to flesh it out and add a heartfelt story to it.
I've vaguely known about Hollow Knight for a while, but this video might have just convinced me to pick it up. I hope my siblings enjoy watching me get wrecked by bugs.
@@mryeet3582 I did in fact pick it up shortly after making that comment, but it's been sitting in my backlog so far. I made the mistake of buying it for PC, and then basically only playing Switch games for most of the year. My brother played it through family sharing, though, and he loved it.

It's kind of like the difference between beauty and style. Yes, beauty is certainly valuable, but it's a bar that is designed to be met. Looking at beautiful projects is amazing in it's own right with their hyper realistic graphics and professional voice acting. Everyone wants to meet that. Style though, that is entirely your own. And good style is absolutely inimitable, giving it an entirely unique experience all it's own.
The quality of the editing and script are unbeliavable considering how frequently you post and how new this channel is. Excellent job and great videos🙌🙌
You should give credit to Cave Story one of the game that pioneered the rise of indie game Was made by one guy and still one of the most polished metroidvania ever made
@@chrom4ful I would give that to Braid, Spelunky & Super Meat Boy. Maybe Fez too. For pioneering the "explosion" and current growth of indie games (no 1 game started this trend or increased/upward popularity). But I enjoyed Cave Story as well, its one of the better ones out there.
Hollow Knight is one of my favorite all-time games and I'm so glad it's the one you liked the most! I can definitely see why it would be the most entertaining of the three to watch because the atmosphere and visuals are just so enchanting.

I tried Outlast once. I opened every door slowly, carefully looked past every corner and nothing ever happened. So I decide to just enter rooms and of course the very first room I just barge in is the one with a scare in it. Quit the game right there for at least a week.

I watched all the Hollow Knight review (I'm almost completing it) and I've had a smile on my face while you're talking about it with so tender. I think it's a WONDERFUL game; Team Cherry made a great job and they deserved all the sucess they have had.

That part about getting really involved and going back to angrily pet the cat had me in tears because it is soooo true! Unfortunately, my boyfriend is not a big fan, so I miss this feeling. Second because even though you don't apparently play the games, I am amazed of how well you are able to synthesise what makes them great and memorable. Right, I feel this. As a woman who likes playing games but loves watching my spouse play games, I've been interested in but afraid of clicking on one of these videos. I haven't finished this video yet, but this comment gives me hope that it's not a channel about how women should only watch games.
I’m impressed with this channel too. Guys hear all the time how playing video games make them attractive to women, that they’re for children, and this view is often megaphone-screamed at them from women who want to either mock or monologue their rage at the opposite sex. It makes it feel like another reason why a guy in order to mature needs to sacrifice fun in life just to be in a relationship. This channel is about how playing a video game can be fun thing to do together. It helps to remind guys that all the hateful women out there (who are also the loudest and the ones who can speak forever) are not the only ones there.
I was really touched by what the Celeste guy said at the game awards. That was an incredible moment. Diahrea Christmas Lights is my new band name I'm definitely watching the stream if I don't forget. These videos have progressively gone from being a silly succession of good jokes to that but with an unexpected wholesome homey feel. Or maybe that was just this video. @@acbonbe7059 He's probably more or less a cocoon And going by the dreamnail text of grubs, and some symbolism on Grubberfly' Elegy, some people assume that the grubs, kinda like the moth, are connected to the Radiance. Which would make the Collector's hiding them throughout Hallownest "logical" because he does seem to be one of the Pale King's creations (fits the void-casting-thing we find in the white palace anyway). So either he's a failed experiment that the paleking (of all people) just... let loose??, or he had a very good reason to do so...
This was a great review, and the channel's premise is pretty awesome. As a streamer, it's interesting to hear how watchable something is... and no longer feel bad about not wanting too terribly much to play Dead Cells most of the time. Would LOVE to hear what you think of watching Rain World and CrossCode!
I'm really late to the party but this was great. I played Celeste and Hollow Knight in 2018 after exiting a 5+ year relationship. Games serve as a great link for me when it comes to accessing the moods and experiences associated with different periods of time in my life. Most of my appreciation for gaming in the past 5 years has come from Indie projects and Nintendo. At the end when you guys ask wth is going on with AAA studios; I wonder the same. But yeah. I don't know how you manage to fit reviews and jokes in there and get through the video with such nice flow; but I suppose that comes with editing experience from the BF. I am always holding out on checking out popular channels because so many are too loud for me; but checking this out finally -- I'm glad I did. Excellent video.
I love these videos - love your humor! I feel like a reverse of these, since I am the big gamer in my relationship and I have to coax my bf to play the games I want to see him play, which are usually games I have already played. This game is truly a masterpiece and is definitely stands as a pillar for the Metroidvania genre. Castlevania, Metroid and Hollow Knight are now the standing pillars of Metroidvania games.
I wouldn't say best game, but for me it was the best indie game. I hope team cherry expands, the fact that they made such a masterpiece on their first try is amazing.

As a gaming husband with a wife who also watches me play, while I love Dead Cells as a gamer, I can completely understand that it'd be a terrible watch from the couch. Celeste was great, anxiety inducing, but my wife has anxiety and depression, and while I already dealt with it well enough, Celeste definitely helped me understand it a bit more. Hollow Knight was amazing, if it felt a bit drab, dreary, and depressing from time to time, but I feel like that was also a big intent of certain parts of the game, so I refuse to detract any points from it.
Without a doubt the best new channel of 2018, it's so refreshing to see a channel on RUclips that is actually offering something I haven't seen before and is genuinely funny!

Fun fact, the design of the main character in hollow knight was designed in an earlier game they made for a game jam. A contest for developers forcing them to make a game in a 48 hours.

Same thing with Celeste, the original PICO-8 (virtual 8-Bit console) version was made for a game jam in 4 days. Back then it was only about climbing a mountain, before they decided to flesh it out and add a heartfelt story to it.

It's kind of like the difference between beauty and style. Yes, beauty is certainly valuable, but it's a bar that is designed to be met. Looking at beautiful projects is amazing in it's own right with their hyper realistic graphics and professional voice acting. Everyone wants to meet that.
Style though, that is entirely your own. And good style is absolutely inimitable, giving it an entirely unique experience all it's own.

I tried Outlast once. I opened every door slowly, carefully looked past every corner and nothing ever happened. So I decide to just enter rooms and of course the very first room I just barge in is the one with a scare in it. Quit the game right there for at least a week.

First because you capture SO well the feeling enjoying to watch someone play videogames. I'm a gamer myself (obsessed with indie games) but I absolutely love watching other people play. That part about getting really involved and going back to angrily pet the cat had me in tears because it is soooo true! Unfortunately, my boyfriend is not a big fan, so I miss this feeling. Second because even though you don't apparently play the games, I am amazed of how well you are able to synthesise what makes them great and memorable. Right, I feel this. As a woman who likes playing games but loves watching my spouse play games, I've been interested in but afraid of clicking on one of these videos. I haven't finished this video yet, but this comment gives me hope that it's not a channel about how women should only watch games.
I’m impressed with this channel too. Guys hear all the time how playing video games make them attractive to women, that they’re for children, and this view is often megaphone-screamed at them from women who want to either mock or monologue their rage at the opposite sex. It makes it feel like another reason why a guy in order to mature needs to sacrifice fun in life just to be in a relationship. This channel is about how playing a video game can be fun thing to do together. It helps to remind guys that all the hateful women out there (who are also the loudest and the ones who can speak forever) are not the only ones there.

And going by the dreamnail text of grubs, and some symbolism on Grubberfly' Elegy, some people assume that the grubs, kinda like the moth, are connected to the Radiance. Which would make the Collector's hiding them throughout Hallownest "logical" because he does seem to be one of the Pale King's creations (fits the void-casting-thing we find in the white palace anyway). So either he's a failed experiment that the paleking (of all people) just... let loose??, or he had a very good reason to do so...

This was a great review, and the channel's premise is pretty awesome. As a streamer, it's interesting to hear how watchable something is... and no longer feel bad about not wanting too terribly much to play Dead Cells most of the time.

I'm really late to the party but this was great. I played Celeste and Hollow Knight in 2018 after exiting a 5+ year relationship. Games serve as a great link for me when it comes to accessing the moods and experiences associated with different periods of time in my life. Most of my appreciation for gaming in the past 5 years has come from Indie projects and Nintendo. At the end when you guys ask wth is going on with AAA studios; I wonder the same. But yeah. I don't know how you manage to fit reviews and jokes in there and get through the video with such nice flow; but I suppose that comes with editing experience from the BF. I am always holding out on checking out popular channels because so many are too loud for me; but checking this out finally -- I'm glad I did.

I love these videos - love your humor! I feel like a reverse of these, since I am the big gamer in my relationship and I have to coax my bf to play the games I want to see him play, which are usually games I have already played. Hollow Knight was a big one and he did enjoy it! ...even if he handed me the controller anytime he had to fight a boss.
Also this reminds me I really need to play Dead Cells.
