Great vid, I had a TLR 20 years ago, wheels, Penske, Race Tech, Tre eliminator, PC. You are spot on with the slow speed handling and fueling. I shaved 45lbs off the stock weight and it still felt like a lead sled. The TLR had a shorter wheelbase than a gsxr 600 but you would never guess that. Don't know how much the TLR differed from the Bimoto in wheelbase seat height etc. What worked for me, this was for me only and might not be for everybody, get a adjustable rear shock and raise the rear ride height and run a 190-60 rear tire. adjustable steering damper set at the lower settings. When I rode the bike after these mods at first it was great but when pushed it got kinda scary. I put in heavier fork springs and went back to stock gearing and all was good. I know this vid was about the SB but I ended up loving my TLR and don't get to write about it often.

Maybe the actual steering damper needs servicing? Had the same sort of thing on my old 996 sps. Chased My tail trying to sort a similar feeling you described on this bimota. I ended up removing the damper and riding the sps hey presto. Ended up having the damper serviced, problem solved.

The tickover on my SV1000 is fine. You're right about this setup not liking big handfuls of throttle at low RPM but I just ride around it by not blipping on change downs when the revs have dropped too low. I did have a misfire a while back, which turned out to be an HT lead that had gone green with corrosion. No bother with stalling after new {eBay low mileage !} coils were fitted. The sudden engine cutouts prior to that were potentially very dangerous indeed and having a big jug suddenly chiming in again wasn't much fun either.

FWIW, what you have there is an SB8R Speziale. There were a few detail changes (rearsets, indicators) but the base bikes were otherwise identical. They had different paint schemes but both had carbon bodywork. Those wheels aren’t stock-they were the same Anterra wheels the standard model had-your customer is much better off for them too, the Bimota factory wheels are quite heavy.

Good work. Good explanation of Power commander . i use the bilt hamber stuff for car and bike, best stuff by far, now foam in a pressure sprayer on the bike, the new Touchless formula is better at rinsing with low pressure water than before. Sufex HD is amazing when used HOT. Thought you may have used a bit of injector cleaner in the fuel for a bit to try and clean. Assume you use V-power petrol or similar in the bikes. Have found running stabiliser in fuel all season helps start as the bandit and Z500 sometime sit a week or 2 not used. Regards

Hi Jim, I'm having a very similar story with my SB8RS. I've bought that bike half year ago and it only ran 1800km till now.
We were running the bike now on a dyno, because the behaviour especially between 2000 -5000 rpm was a pure disaster.
Did you manage to read out the ECU directly? From what I understand, the tables/data you're showing, those are from the Power Commander,or?
The diagnostic connector should be the one close to the ECU with 5 wires,or?

  • @sthildas4857

BH is good stuff with a detail brush, you can buy hand foaming head to put on bike.
Ph shampoo...wax the bike plus carbon with fk1000p which is a wax seal plus rims.
We machine polish plus spray ceramic.
    Great bike Jim.

Maybe one injector is sticking slightly and after a couple of hundred miles might flush itelf through, sometimes when larger twins have a poor spray pattern they run very lumpy at idle and lower revs due to poor atomization, whilst at higher revs the motor can cope with the extra fuel and burn it off better.

Id be thinking theres a dirty connector somewhere and the fact that the tps isnt showing on the pc would be the starting point ... too much sitting about , although the injectors would niggle in the back of my hear too ,,,, maybe someone could lend you the adapter for a few days to test them.

  • @unemployedducatista9997

Interesting that on the PCIII the TPS signal works when engine off but not when running/hot.
Maybe a firmware update on the PCIII could help. I usually remove them to get it out the equation.
Regarding the injectors why not simply sending them to a shop whose got the right equipment?

I’ve got a r1 4xv I suppose to had the carbs cleaned last year after getting it back I rode it home and seemed to be using a lot of fuel.
Any way I put the bike away for winter and thought nothing else of it went to go on it a few weeks ago and I could smell petrol further to this I took the tank etc and noticed petrol peeing out by the bowls.
I’ve brought a seal kit etc but I need to get the carbs off could you tell me how easy are these carbs to get off plz.
I do most of the repairs on my cars and van so I’m not scared using a spanner but the carbs seem a right pain to get in to
