    This little hack literally saves you hundreds of dollars you'd otherwise spend on heavier dumbbells 💪

    Been looking for something like this for a while. I train in my garage gym and maxed out my 35kg dumbbells and don't want to spend a fortune on more dumbbells lol. Thanks a lot

    Thank you so much. Don't know why I didn't get this idea before ^^

    That works. I used duct tape back in the early 90s to turn 130s into 150s. Also, used an extra pin to add plates to cable machine stacks for pulldowns, seated rows and tricep pushdowns. Gotta be careful with that though as the cables may not be able to handle the extra weight and gym owners don’t like it.

    Can't believe I never thought of doing this. Trying to progress my dumbbell chest press. I'm doing 5x5 to build strength. With 40 kg dumbbells I can manage 7 reps when fresh. With 42.5 kg, which is the next in line, I can only do 3. 41 kg seems like the perfect dumbbell weight atm to switch too. Will use this trick tomorrow and add 2 x 0.5 kg on each dumbbell.

      There are many brands making these standard resistance bands. I ordered these from Myprotein but you could order from Amazon, Rogue, Pullum Sports etc.

    Would it be safe to add 5 lbs plates on each side? My gym doesn't have dumbbells from 105lbs to 115lbs. They expect us to jump from 100 lbs to 120lbs lol

    I tried this with an elitefts mini band (the red one ). Could not get it to work. Having trouble seeing what you are doing

    • @patrickclosefitness
      @patrickclosefitness  Год назад

      You need to pull the band tight and spin the band before you reverse so there's enough tension to hold the plates. When I first started doing this I would ask someone to help me

    • @baconblaster6422
      @baconblaster6422 Год назад

      @@patrickclosefitness I’ll try again . My girlfriend and I were just wrapping it around the dumbbell and then ran out of slack on the second pass, despite the plates being too loose lol . We didn’t really do the twisting you were doing because we had trouble seeing it. Thanks

      I enjoy listening to music while I train. I feel it helps me perform slightly better and research supports that music aids strength training
