i love the knocking and coughing and then it sputters enough to keep spinning and it catches and roars up real quick and drops down to idle, just like music to me, they all sound so different but good in their own way
The neighbors probably thought someone was popping extra large popcorn LOL, nice tractor, I always loved them 44 and 50 series tractors, especially the 5020.
4440 were good tractors. We had 2 of them. Both had 27000 hours on them when we sold them. Essentially they were never in the shop for repairs however they were stored in a heated shop and had no cold starts. I don’t know how many sets of tires that they wore out. They still looked like new even after 40 years of hard work
I love how them old Deeres rev way up on start up, I used to work on a ranch with a 4650 and a 4430, I straight piped the 4430 and loved the way it sounded
I farmed seed potatoes back in the 90's and had a 4255 with a straight pipe. I would have the pipe pointed the other way but when digging time came around I would turn it around so it was pointing towards the truck that was loading. I would dig at 1000 rpm and the old girl sounded so sweet lugging down. The guys driving tuck would always have their window rolled down to listing to her grunt and the turbo!! What a sweet sound
Hey Joe I worked for Vineyard Oil and Gas in Northeast, PA. I also worked for Buford Drilling in Clodine,TX. Really miss it. Worked with a bunch of great guys.
@@Jschultzy21 They work good, yes, but they are not as fuel efficient, as silent in the drivers cab, as easy to operate, dont have as good suspension as a modern tractor has, no GPS, no Radio, no A/C etc... For me its quite important that I can work 12hours+ on a machine without having backpain...
Nowadays, they are putting efforts on liberal ideology (feminism, gay rights, diversity...) kind of stuff that a farmer does not and will never give a fuck about
My son was watching videos, and as soon as I heard that from the other room, I was 12 yrs old again freezing my as$ off with my Grandfather. Man, I miss that .
Great tractor, I grew up on a JD 4440, still in the family farm too and running strong. Also, great to see auction values for JD 4440 increased a little over 2% in 2018 and almost 7% in 2019. 30 years and running! @
He has aim with the start pilot. A really cool and nice old tractor because he has a low and long start but when he is warm is sound is pure music in my ears
Man.... block heater or not I love the way that tractor sounds with the straight pipe as it spools up to finish out in a smooth idle. I could probably just sit there and listen to it as it warms up for about ~ 5-10 mins give er a take. peace P.S No ether please... bad stuff for a diesel, not even a little bit of the stuff just saying
got a JD 2355. minus 20 celsius today and need to find the air intake. No obvious pipe like that tractor has, sadly Would love to get some ether in there somehow. Can`t tell where!
Sg1 have the best seats ever I loved both my 4440s the only thing I didnt like was the door striker always caught my shorts pocket and ripped them to pieces.
The 425 dislikes are from AOC's alt accounts
I dislike her immensely but I came here to escape from politics.
And the Florida people

Those deere mechanical pumps love the Rev up and fall back down and idle
The neighbors probably thought someone was popping extra large popcorn LOL, nice tractor, I always loved them 44 and 50 series tractors, especially the 5020.
5020 had nothing to do with either of those series of JD tractors
Probably one of the best tractors Deere ever made. I've got one with 6,000 hours on the clock and it just keeps going...
6000 hours is nothing for a tractor but yea its one of the best tractors deere made
Bruh my 4455 has 29.000 and it is running good
that turbo is just straight up sexy!
Aiden Hubbs q1q

Aye, what can you say it's a John Deere
I agree. In my family we have a Zetor Crystal 8011 with old batteries and it can't even start on 5° C.

Love the 4440 it's the working man's tractor for sure.
Nothing beat a good diesel cold start

You get it going it’ll fire up on its own. You here the injector get goin it’ll just fire to life. Gotta love the injector pumps on the Deeres

Love the 55 series, best Deere ever made hands down
Love to have one

@@renislevasseur855 we have a 2955, it is a great day discing tractor,
Block heaters are our friends.
Back when I worked in the oil field in PA we used to add kerosene to the diesel to keep it from gelling.
+Rdrake1413 we've done that before
I work up here in Pa drilling horizontal gas wells.

+Rdrake1413 I don't think highly of Trump but I do think he's going to be good for business and I expect the gas work will come back to PA
I have never believed in any Politician. But hope he can bring jobs back from overseas.
That was beautiful!!! Man tears leaked out of my eyes....
Blew the lift out of one of these a long time ago. Funnest day I ever had on the farm so far.
Now that is a CCOOOLLLDDD Start
Speedster1919 yep
Yup
I dont agree
+Dorus De Jonge aa
Old diesels like these will outlast you. The new ones are just disposable unreliable pretty trash.
Every engine has mechanical wear. Even those old ones will die eventually.
@@heavyweight6440 yea but they the goat tractors (greatest of all time)
@@Jschultzy21 These old tractors cant really compete against a modern 6R... maybe in durability, but thats it.
@@heavyweight6440 they are just really good tractors mate we have a 4255 and a few 8000 series and it works as good even potentionaly as good as it!

Me on Monday morning
LOL
I love our 4430. You can’t beat those tractors. John Deere put more effort into building those tractors than they do now

@@youssefsabiri3860 you sir, embodied all of John Deere in that one comment
I love our 2955, in the 30+ years we owned it has never failed.

the old 40/50s series JD and the farmall 1206 just sound so dam good....
30 and 40 series always had a hard time starting in the cold. The 20 series would fire right up.
Very cool watching in Ireland 🇮🇪,

Love the sound of a John Deere
Very nice exhaust sound.
Great great work
Sounds so beautiful..... music to these ears
old school diesels, simple bosch pump, a little ether and start every time. No glow plugs required.
That’s the best cold start I’ve ever seen on youtube
All time favorite cold start.

That was extremely satisfying
That long range aero start lol
straightpipe FM😍
+Eoin O'Reilly agri videos I love that straight pipe
How did the tractor know to throttle down, after smoothing out?
I think it builds oil pressure or fuel pressure and runs smooth after that
Yall need to read the description, very good information there.
Nice video ;-)
I remember THOSE days !!!.
