Nice reaction, thanks! Yes, show's name is Legend S - Baptism XX and it was held in Hiroshima to celebrate Su-metal's 20th (XX in Roman numerals) birthday. Extremely beautiful and emotional song. And one Su-metal's best performances. The way she conveys the emotions is absolutely amazing. The whole performance and later this particular music video (and the Blu-ray promoted on it) ended up being one of the most emotional things you can watch being a BABYMETAL fan. It was the first performance (actually there were two back to back concerts) without Yui and the last with Mikio Fujioka being part of the Kami Band before his untimely decease (RIP ko-gami). Not to mention the intro of this song, narrated by Su-metal herself about the consequences for the population of the nuclear blast over Hiroshima. Later, when they edited this part of the performance, they focused on Mikio deliberately as Su sings: "Nidoto ae-nai kedo wasure-naide itai yo. Yume ga tsuzuku nara same-naide." (We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever. If the dream continues, I wish I'll never wake up from it.). I believe there's nothing more to add. 😭
Thanks for coming back with with this special SuMetal solo and version at their hometown. You're right about the deep meaning on this song so go ahead and look for the lyrics it'll be more meaningful. This song is an X-Japan tribute to Endless Rain, is like a response or a silver lining, Endless Rain was the inspiration for Guns N' Roses - November Rain, that's why you got the same vibes. Good thing you upload this one with those filters to avoid copyright blocked. There's a "kamishibai" (narrated intro) before this song that relates Hiroshima sad past events in history with this song. She being from Hiroshima and granddaughter of Hiroshima bomb survivor, this was really special for her. A gorgeous hard rock ballad from SuMetal solos and BM in general, performed at Legend S Baptism XX 2017 20th SuMetal birthday it was a special concert due to many factors and many fans always get sad about it, me too of course, is a bittersweat live concert and one in a lifetime too. It was the last time Mikio Fujioka-sama played with BabyMetal before he past away and first live concert without YuiMetal, so many feelings. (R.I.P. kokami)🙌 She sang this at 10 Babymetal Budokan 2021 with our queen "playing" the piano, it really surprised the audience with the unusual silence break. She supposed to sing this song during first album but she felt not ready to sing it with all the emotions needed, that's why is included during 2nd album later on. There's a live version at Legend 1999 (2013) with Yui and MoaMetal celebrating their birthdays, isn't the best version since the guitar sound and mix are a little bit off but is good in terms of visual and a special moment being a live premiere. SuMetal said that this guitars solos is one of her favorite parts, quote: “I feel that the guitars in this song sound as if they’re really singing the melody, and I just really enjoy it." Japan got many other tragedies and natural disasters in history, like the 2011 earthquake, Suzuka Nakamoto(aka SuMetal) remembered that sad days and connected with Hiroshima past events, saying: "I believe that persistently doing little things bit by bit as they come up will grow into a great power someday. The city i live in Hiroshima has itself been totally destroyed and then restored. This happened long before i was born but i have seen through pictures that Hiroshima went from a place with someday we will be able to look back and be almost unable to believe the destructive scene that we see now." She's our queen for a reason, she touches our heart on every way.
Thank you I'll make sure to add them to the list. And believe it or not this was recorded/uploaded months ago. I just had time to add the filters and re-upload it.
Great reaction ... everything I was going to say about the links between 'Purple Rain', 'Endless Rain' and 'November Rain' (I'm not surprised you got that same feeling) has been said, likewise about the video editing with Mikio Fujioka (RIP) being the focus as Su sang "Nidoto ae-nai kedo wasure-naide itai yo." (We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever). Yes you really need to listen to this again with the translated lyrics - although Su does an incredible job, as she always does, with expressing all the emotions so we almost know what she is singing despite not understanding a word. Su first performed this song at the Legend 1999 concert in June 2013, but she was not happy that she was conveying the emotion the song deserved and did not want to record it for the first album. It was only in a later performance (probably Budokan 2014) when she saw someone in the crowd crying that she realised her voice could effect people that way. The song was included on the second album. There have still been only 7 live performances of 'No Rain, No Rainbow' to date.
This is a video clip from the 2017 Hiroshima show? I went to the Makuhari concert the other day and decided to buy a DVD of the show at the sales floor. And then, they gave me a BM 2023 calendar reminder sheet and a ticket holder.😀
⚡ / ☂ 🌈 This was Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka's last appearance with BABYMETAL. They have a close-up on him during this part: "Nidoto ae-nai kedo, wasure-naide itai yo." (We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever.) Mikio passed away on January 5th, 2018, before the video was released. In this footage, Su was about to turn 20, the traditional age of majority (adulthood) in Japan. Yui was supposed to perform at this concert, but was unable to appear because of unspecified health reasons. The introduction just before this song refers to to the bombing of Hiroshima, Su's home prefecture, and the location of the two 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' concerts. This intro was added for these shows. That doesn't mean the song was originally written to be about those events, just that they were drawing a connection for these two special concerts in Su's home prefecture of Hiroshima. The last line of this song is: "An endless rain fills my heart, forever." That's a reference to the X-Japan song 'Endless Rain'. Although the music reminds me more of the X-Japan song 'Silent Jealousy'. I'd love to hear Su cover that one some day.
A beautiful song and a very very beautiful performance from Su and the Kami Band. One of their best. Fitting that is was her birthday (20th) homecoming. 🤘🦊🤘
The lyrics, "Even despair becomes light, and the rain that never stops brings rainbows," are a gentle song as if to accompany the victims who endured the cold rain and sad farewells to their loved ones in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
Babymetal was inspired by Endless Rain by X-Japan, some people think X-Japan was inspired by Purple Rain by Prince and some say Guns N Roses was inspired by X-Japan's Endless Rain, if Babymetal is in this list at least it's good company 🙂
Great reaction. This is arguable the best performance of this song as it shows Su at her most emotionally powerful, both in her vocals and down to the tears welling up in her eyes and wavering voice just after the guitar bridge.
NO RAIN 🌂 NO RAINBOW 🌈 :- NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW is a song from BABYMETAL's second original album, METAL RESISTANCE, by SU-METAL. It has the same music structure as Legendary band X Japan 🇯🇵 "Endless Rain" but with a different arrangement. A tear-jerker when listening to "Mikio Fujioka" guitar solo because he's such a phenomenal guitar maestro gone too soon. "The Legend Baptism XX will be 'Mikio Fujioka' last concert with Babymetal before his untimely passing in January 2018". This is special for Su and Moa especially Su because she got to perform in her hometown of Hiroshima. After the guitar solo, you can hear Su voice wavering as she tried to hide her emotion. Su owns this performance. Her facial expressions and mannerisms coincide with the song. The show at the Nippon Budokan for the 10th Babymetal anniversary is awesome. Now that I think about, I’d love to see Su sing it again now that her voice has matured so beautifully and her skills have a vocalist have grown so much.
I really love this song and it shows Su-chan's vocal quality very well. This concert is to celebrate Su-metal's 20th anniversary. A very special show because it was the first after Yui-metal left and I think Mikio's last before his death. Song very inspired by Endless Rain by the Japanese band X-Japan. Thanks for the reaction.
There are plenty of metal singers that has power and range (Floor or Tarja), but Su's the only one that makes you feel the song... hearing her voice slightly cracking, the moist look in her eyes, and the blue lights makes you feel the sadness in the song, but when the light turns red, you can see the change in the look of her eyes and the Queen is back. Totally awesome performance. That's one of the many reasons I like her, she doesn't just sing a song, she performs it... From facial expressions, to her own interpretive dance moves, its a whole package.... If a western pop singer sings a sad ballad, they might just lower their eyes a bit, a slight frown... When Su does it (like in Akatsuki Unfinished or No Rain No Rainbow), you can hear the cracking of her voice, the slight choking back a sob, the sad tearful expression... Better than some hollywood actresses..... I wonder how many people will suggest you to checkout Endless Rain by X Japan, and tell you the link to November Rain and No Rain No Rainbow....🤘🦊🤘

Why can't I sleep
どうして眠れないの?
Why is the night over?
どうして夜は終わるの?
I don't need anything, even tomorrow
いらない 何も 明日さえも
A future without you
君がいない未来
Why were you laughing?
どうして笑ってたの?
Why? I was lonely
どうして? 寂しかったのに
Nobody knows it's just
誰も 知らない 本当はただ
I wanted you to be by my side
そばにいて欲しかった
Even despair becomes light
絶望さえも 光になる
Even if it keeps raining
止まない雨が 降り続いても
Even despair becomes light
絶望さえも 光になる
Sad rain casts a rainbow forever
悲しい雨が 虹をかけるよ どこまでも
I can't see you again
二度と会えないけど
I want to remember
忘れないでいたいよ
If your dreams continue, don't wake up
夢が続くなら 覚めないで
Why were you laughing?
どうして笑ってたの?
Why? I was lonely
どうして? 寂しかったのに
Nobody knows it's just
