    Projection Sorcery: Turns the manga into an anime. If you can move 24 fps, you're an anime fighter in a manga, styling on everybody who can't adapt to this "anime adaptation". If you can't, you freeze frame like an ACTUAL manga panel for the 24 fps mover to tear you up, like ripping a page out of a manga chapter. (My wonky explanation. Your thoughts?)

    When Super Eyepatch Wolf covered JoJo's part 5 and explained King Crimson's powers, he postulated that its ability was counter-intuitive to how manga/comics work as a medium and that's why people were confused as to how it functioned.
    I think projection sorcery suffers from a similar issue. Since manga/comics are still images, we can't fully appreciate the concept of a character using "24fps" as part of their power set, since they need to be moving for that. So, once the anime adapts this, chances are anime watchers will have an easier time understanding the technique.

    I love this technique and this is a headcanon of its Maximun Technique;
    1. The range increases and the user can cover like 1 MILE in a single second thus becaming more like short distance teleportation,
    2. The frame rate increases to 60fps, 120fps or more allowing for more movement in a single second at that point you literally can hit a target dozens of times within a single second plus even superhuman should have great difficulty moving at such high rate!!

    fun fact about the palm freeze:
    if you get frozen in a frame, one second gets skipped for you. in example: If a PS user touches you in the back of the head and you get frozen, he goes right in front of you and punches you. but in YOU POV, you get tapped in the head and next thing you know, you got punched in the stomach. which makes it appear extremely fast and disorienting for opponents.
    Here is what it looks like:
    PS user POV: touches you from behind --> go infront of you --> punches you
    Your POV: Get touched from behind --> punched.

    a legend just dropped

  • @oz9220
    @oz9220 2 года назад +49

    So essentially what i got from this:
    -This technique allows you to divide 1 second into 24 frames, which allows you to follow a predetermined set of movements.
    - As long as you do not break the laws of physics excessively and stray away from / adjust the predetermined movements , You wont freeze from the effects of the technique and also grants you tremendous speed. So it follows that if you break the laws of physics and stray away from the predetermined movements, you will freeze for 1 second.
    - This same effect goes for the opponents who get touched by the user, they also have to abide by the 24 frames per second rule. Failure to abide by it results in the opponent getting frozen for one second.
    - There is an upper limit of acceleration this technique can provide a the time of using this technique, but constantly activating this technique allows speed to build continuously.
    Can anyone make corrections if anything what I have said above is incorrect in some way?
    I mean I have said all this , but I am still having trouble grasping this intuitively for some reason.

    The real question is: what determines a motion? A motion could be a micrometer of movement or it could be a meter of movement. It could be any fluid movement that does not change direction.
    My guess is that it is determined by distance because each frame allowing for an increase in distance traveled as a movement would allow for continual increase in speed.

    • @cuteandsingle
      @cuteandsingle Год назад +17

      I think its like drawing movement at 24 fps vs 60 fps, even though this specific example is counter intuitive to projection sorcery. Imagine drawing one second of movement. There's a point where it starts and where it stops. At 60 fps you draw each individual frame between the starting and stopping point closer to the last one than at 24 fps. Each "movement" is much smaller. At 24 fps, you have to draw "bigger" movements with less frames and then the brain can fill in the gaps of animation. I think at the peak of projection sorcery, where the gap between motions is sufficiently big, the user would look like a flip book in slow motion. In real time it would look like they were teleporting 24 times per second.

      If you were to fight Naobito, you would move in a life-like, fluid way, while Naobito would move like an Anime character, animated with disjointed movements and many jump-cuts.
      24 FPS movement confuses the brain due to the abrupt transition between one frame to another, making it feel as if the subject "moves so fast that the eyes can't see any fluid movement in between", while in truth, there is none.
      Projection sorcery allows you to animate your future movement before hand, and makes you move just like an animated character, eliminates all transitional movements between frames so long that those transitional movements are physically possible. The more speed you build up, the longer distance you can cover between each frame and the faster you become.
      Those who are touched by this sorcery don't have the same luxury, however. They can't eliminate transitional movements like the sorcerer do, so to achieve 24 FPS motion you either stand still (which is not helpful), or "move so fast that the eyes can't perceive the movement in between", but for real (which requires immense physical prowess, like that of a Heavenly Restriction).

    • @Black_Guy
      @Black_Guy 8 месяцев назад +1

      @saltissalty3498
      Which means Projection Sorcery has potentially limitless speed, at least straight-line speed, because you could theoretically cover unlimited distance in a frame. It also makes the power a hax because no one moves in frames. It's not possible in reality.
      The only questionable things about the power are: if the way to overcome it is actually logical or just some backdoor written in for plot? Also, a person may be able to plan their path, but how can they assure things in the environment will be where they planned them to be?

    • @saltissalty3498
      @saltissalty3498 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@Black_Guy potentially limitless speed.... yeah. But there is an upper bound for how fast the body can actually handle, even for a sorcerer.
      As a human, Naoya can speed up to sub-sonic speed, but any faster and either his body is ripped apart due to air resistance, or the friction against the moving surface can no longer assure him following the path without... say, slipping and got frozen for 1 second. Only as a Cursed Spirit capable of flying can Naoya move at Mach 3, and even then he has to contract his body with a binding vow to increase his durability on par of Hanami, a Special Grade notorious for its durability.
      This is perhaps why Gojo is the fastest sorcerer, because using Blue to collapse distance aside, Gojo can use Limitless to protect himself from being ripped apart by air or random debris.
      As for the way to overcome the cursed technique.... only 1 person ever manage to properly counter it the intended way (Maki), so there isn't much to inferred.
      However, since Naoya usually talks about "moving the same way I do" when referring to the 24 FPS rule, as well as the "animation" is planned via the user's field of view, it's possible that how strictly one abide by this rule is also subjectively dictated by the user.
      Therefore, if you swing your hand fast enough and at just the right timing, it would appear that you abide the 24 FPS rule from the user POV.
      Ofc, this is more or less how I interpret it, but no matter how precise you can manipulate Cursed Energy, there gotta be some margin for error so that the user just not got ripped apart because a few cells in his body doesn't abide 24 FPS rule.
      Last but not least, while there wasn't any case where a villian just tossed a banana peel to make Naobito/ Naoya slips (which sounds hilarious lol), Naobito losing an arm causing him to "not move right" is an indicator that external environment does play a part.
      Also, when fighting against Naoya, Choso splashed a fair bit of blood on Naoya and manipulate the blood to slow Naoya down. While Naoya can still use projection sorcery, he activate it later than the usual pace of this battle (enough for Choso to perform a proper convergence, all previous attempts were knocked out mid-way). Perhaps by introducing external environmental factors, the sorcerer must calibrate their own movements to abide 24 FPS rule, opening up a slim window for you to attack.

    this technique had me dumfounded , thanks for explaining it soo well

  • @Kaelicles
    @Kaelicles 2 года назад +19

    Hours of SCP reading and writing have prepared me for situations like this. Below is the most concise and clear explanation I can hope to achieve through text.
    Projection Sorcery allows the user to animate themselves at 24 FPS, massively increasing their speed. This also allows the user to move themselves as freely as an animator can move a character in an anime/cartoon.
    With this technique, the user blots out an animated sequence with themselves as the subject and their initial field of view as the camera angle. The animated sequence runs at 24 FPS for one second, with a single second being divided into 24 frames of equal length. On each frame, the user assumes a new and unique position in such a way to give the illusion of contiguous movement. This allows them to move much quicker than they normally can, but they cannot use this technique to excessively violate the laws of physics. In practice, this means that they cannot cover too much distance between frames. Once the animated sequence, or ‘path,’ is planned out; the user traces it immediately.
    While the user can’t have this technique activated continuously, it can be chained together seemingly without limit. This comes with risk, however. If the path they lay out is untraceable, or if the user is unable to mentally keep up with their technique, they will be trapped within a single frame for the duration of the second. They can still be damaged while in this state, with appropriate force smashing them out of the frame as if they were crashing through a window.
    Anyone who is touched by their palm also must abide by the 24 FPS rule. While this seems arbitrary, I believe this is a different use of a normally beneficial feature. I believe that users of Projection Sorcery are able to bring people along with them, so to speak. However, due to the speed at which it operates, no one without advanced training would be able to keep up. As per the rules of the technique, if you cannot keep up, you get stuck within a single frame for 1 second. Naobito, known for his battle sense, was able to turn this useless feature into something dangerous.

    From what I understand, the “glitches” can be intrepid (at least to me) as teleportation from how you describe it. Like “For Naobito, however, he would simply be able to set a predetermined distance for his technique and set his first movement as a glitch towards the end of the track.”
    Which yeah is movement as in changing position, but since he isn’t physically travelling those distances (which is what is uselessly what is meant by speed) how do people like him and gain physical momentum?
    I think it might just be your analogy was a bit extreme with the distance, and it’s less like glitching dozens of to the end of a track but more like making many smaller movements happen instantly, like the second half of a punch/step which would make more sense, but I still have some problems with it.

  • @SBGames8

    Think of it like DBZ when they teleport around with that swishing sound from place to place. They skip ahead to frames they lay out, while choosing to take advantage of the freeze option if they so please. The "illusion of speed" comes from SPACING out your frames in terms of distance, not speed. So if you make 24 movements in one second and draw those frames far apart, you are teleporting around like the aforementioned DBZ technique. However, the limitations make it so that you can't teleport to the horizon and back. You can only do what you are capable of, but the frame breakup ruins people's ability to track you.

      The distance limit of Projection Sorcery is a complete unknown, there is no stated distance limit but Naobito and Naoya's movements aren't limited to steps. Its more like you simply appear at the place you you planned to reach, then you repeat that sequence 24 times in one second. The best way to understand this technique is using the term "space-time" technique.
    Actually, if you guys just thought about a little more, you could've have seen that while in the technique "own dimensional tempo", Naobito didn't have to move airborne. He just projected his own fall until landing and then running to position himself behind Dagon.
    It's very simple guys. The moment the guy activates the sorcery they can turn 1 second into 24 frames. We've seen that many characters move at outstanding speeds, to the point the eye can barely seen. Even so, inside this universe these same characters live, the technique seems "to fast".
    Just imagine that while you're in the first second of your movement... the other guy just made 24. That's why everytime the tech is seen it is easily recognized as some sort of jujutsu.
    So... how come the user simply seems to overcome "speed" itself even by the naturally fast characters? Simply: because their technique "stop" time and manipulate space. It's like the user is teleporting himself through the battlefield.
    This is the only explanation to some "panels" that seems to be rather out of laws of physics. At one second Naobito jumps and appears above Dagon, then kicks him down and the second after he already landed and moved again.
    The technique seems to fast foward this one second in the user's perspective of the world. So a fall that would take some seconds only happens in one.

    in animation laws of inertia are fumbled around allowing it to appear as "lifelike" projection sorcery brings it into reality, splitting it into 24 positions. it takes incredible amounts of time compared to merely one frame to accelerate however projection sorcery negates this rule. Essentially, imagine you moving from one place in a room to another, now imagine creating an animation about it, you would make it faster than actually running to emphasize speed, now bring it to reality. A good visual example is in the manga when naoya blitzes yuji and choso, there is no fluid movement from him being Infront of them to crouching in-between them, however from a certain camera angle it would be life like, all its doing is accelerating the user a very large amount over one whole second and splitting their induvial actions into 24ths, glitching them between each point just like animation.

    Tbh, even after searching some explanation like this video, there're parts of this technique that I don't understand, but this is my attempt
    The frozen in frame is easy to understand, you need to move at 24 fps, if you don't, you're frozen for 1 sec. In real life, some sources (after I searched google "what fps does real life run at", lol, sorry for not having a more scientific accurate source) said that human eyes can see between 30-60 fps, I just assume that must mean we move at 30-60 fps in real life. So basically any human, sorcerer or not, will be frozen when the user use their technique.
    The moving fast part is kind of tricky, I like your explanation of glitching, tho my own explanation is that the user can skip 1/24 to 24/24 fp2. So in 24 fps, there're 24 different drawing in 1 sec, other people that are the target of this technique must move at 24 fps in sequence, but the user themselves don't need to, so they don't need to move like this : 1/24->2/24->3/24...until 24/24, and can just skip from 1/24 to 24/24 instantly, that's why they can move seemingly fast, just like you said like a glitch, on top of if they continue to move like this, they will "build up speed" in a sense that they will continue to move seemingly fast, it's because sometimes they can move like this when activating their tehcnique, sometimes they don't because they don't activate their technique in other seconds (24 fps). The downside is that, they themselves still need to move in that 24 fps rule, so they can't move like from 1/24 to 25/24, which will break the "law of physics" from their perspective.
    Other possible explanation for the moving fast part:
    When you use the technique, in the 1st frame, if you already move at, let's say 20 km/s, in that 1 sec or 24 frames, you will move at 20 km/s no matter what, when 1 second or 24/24 is done, you can then add your speed, let's say you add 1-2 km/s, and so in the next 1 second or 24 frames, you move at 21-22 km/s, and you do this continuously, thus the "building up speed" part.
    Idk if this explanation is good or not.

    I have doubts about how it works against attacks and innanimate objects like Naobito freezing water in frames or Cursed Naoya freezing air and making it explode. I mean, should the object be in movement or they could freeze a static rock?
    And it's quite hard for me to understand exactly the "abide to 24 FPS rule". I mean, did Maki do 24 movements to hit Naoya during their fight? Any Sorcerer/Cursed Spirit who knows how it works would be able to easily counter it by tracing 24 movements or there's a trick that makes it hard for someone to abide to it even if they know how it works? 'Cause if it's like that, that would make the bow of revealing your card a bad idea for the Projection Sorcerer and Naoya's Domain Expansion would be useless about those who knows the 24 FPS rule, or not?
    And as a personal opinion, I would have liked that Naoya had a 60 FPS Technique as a contraposition to Naobito's "old" 24 FPS with Naoya's "new" 60 FPS (4K).
    And also, I do wonder, what kind of Cursed Technique Reversal would be born if it's used the Reverse Technique on Projection Sorcery?
