Would be neat as maybe a yearly-wrap up, like two videos, one for overall and one for the standard meta of that year. But just randomly or more often than that, it'd just be a rotating lineup of the same 15 or so staples with little variance each time. But a yearly would be cool, and if he needed the extra content (I'm sure he doesn't, but hey, more is more!) he could do years prior as well
@crawdaddy1234 no, because only getting points in vintage is not enough to keep up with cards that are multi-format at all stars. Also, time twister isn't as good after the rule was made that you only get 4x of each card in your deck. It would be cards that have been seeing play and every deck in multiple formats.
To be fair Cathar is an outlier. It is busted though. I first saw it in my pre release. I had to keep re reading it, I couldn't believe there was no downside. 3/1 flash and naturalise? Wat wat wat?
I can't believe you didn't mention Werewolf Pack Leader's combo with Embiggen, Amoeboid Changeling, and Artificial Evolution. You cast Artificial Evolution targeting Werewolf Pack Leader, changing the word "Human" to "Brushwagg". You activate Amoeboid Changeling, giving Werewolf Pack Leader Changeling. You activate Werewolf Pack Leader, making it a base 5/3 trampler that has every creature type except Brushwagg, and finally you cast Embiggen on the Pack Leaader, giving it (at the time of this writing) +300/+300 until end of turn. I've decided right now that I'm going to build a Volo, Guide to Monsters commander deck purely to try and run this combo.
Nissa's Chosen is so Iconic to me. That Nissa was my second Planeswalker ever and made fall in love with Green. Love theses random throwbacks. Would love to see an updated Beast Top Ten video? or any tribe honestly do a weird one please. Insects?
It's sometimes hard to rate exactly how powerful a card is by its Commander performance, but I have to say "Banned in Commander" is a pretty good metric for Rofellos.
Anyone else surprised to see how NOT stacked this list is? I guess i have the perception that cards with just two of the same color in their cost are really pushed, but this list is full of cards that haven't been played in a decade plus. I didn't think there would be room for stuff like Viridian Zealot and Whirling Dervish.
Hi Nizzahon, does the number of tournaments per year influence the scores? I have the impression recent card often have inflated scores, because earlier in MTG history, less tournament points were collected each year. Would it be possible to control for that, e.g. by dividing by the total number of tournaments in each year a card gained points?
GG needs commitment to green, but are really inexpensive in mono green because a turn 1 mana dork is expected, which means on top of casting one of those cards on turn 2, you still have one mana to do something else
High power but surprisingly low scores! I guess it just shows how limiting two pips can be early game and how good a card has to be to warrant running it
when i saw the 1st card, i thought i was watching the top 10 trolls again, but after checking the video title and the mana base of the troll it was all fine.. just coincedence
@ Top 10 Basic lands would be a fun video. It can be seen as a "best color in magic video which would get a lot of views. So I hope to have the video made. At the least it is engagement on each of Nizzahon's videos which helps him out. Asking repeatedly for something is a common thing on RUclips videos like this and lots of people reply to this comment which again helps Nizzahon. It doesn't hurt me if it doesn't get made, but why does asking for it seem to bother you so much?
off topic but this video reminded me of: bristly bill, spine sower is just green and 1 colorless but it seems stronger than all these cards, just an opinion. it with cards like walking ballista, and steelbane hydra. even without synergy cards good. but also good with cards like wall of roots, axebane guardian, overgrown battlement. can just use double counters ability many times per turn.
I've played in the Standard which has Rofellos and boy, was that monogreen deck busted! Fast mana, big creatures and an Overrun to end all games! I hated it
The good thing about GG is that it reminds me of The Good Guys, an Australian electronics and appliances store. Which is one of the places I could go to to get a TV aerial. And then I will get free to air TV. Which won't be nearly as good as "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!
Maybe I'm just a Magic n00b but I'm confused. The verbiage here seems contradictory. It's a Top 10 that's ranked based on usage in tournaments but you also claim some of these cards haven't been used since 2011 in some cases and "in years" in others. Also your tone when describing some of these cards sounds somewhat unimpressed and dismissive. Just odd when the title of the video is "OP Cards."
Counters should cancel each other out, sure. They should not REMOVE each other, why does this make sense?? I have never liked the ruling, not for the cancel/combo effect, just because it's basically an unintuitive hidden interaction.
Rofellos' face is the same face I make when I see a new Nizzahon video to watch.
Have you ever done a top 10 of all time? Like a top 10 list of cards that saw the most amount of tournament play up until 2024 for example?
Would be neat as maybe a yearly-wrap up, like two videos, one for overall and one for the standard meta of that year. But just randomly or more often than that, it'd just be a rotating lineup of the same 15 or so staples with little variance each time.
But a yearly would be cool, and if he needed the extra content (I'm sure he doesn't, but hey, more is more!) he could do years prior as well
That would be an excellent idea.
It would be top 5 basic lands. And it would be fun to know which one has seen the most play.
Nah do a top ten of your top ten lists
@crawdaddy1234 no, because only getting points in vintage is not enough to keep up with cards that are multi-format at all stars. Look at the power creep since Viridian Zealot.
Cathar Commando is 1W, has Flash, Sacs for only 1 generic mana, is a 3/1
That's insane power creep.
To be fair Cathar is an outlier. It is busted though.

Poor Channel. It's so kneecapped by how heavily it was banned. In this house we recognise the true king of this list.
It's so early in the morning I thought Nizzahon's youtube channel was banned for a second and was shocked lol.
I was super confused too for a second!
@@NizzahonMagic I'm sorry, I thought what I was saying was obvious XD. Have edited to capitalise Channel.
I always thought Rofellos was wearing blue face paint, I just realized he's only drawn with an extremely intense shadow

I own two Rofellos and i never realized how happy he was :`)
Seeing the dervish on a top 10 makes me so happy! I'm ooooold 😅

Always nice to see one of your favorites in one of these
Barkhide troll was 1 pt too short of showing up on Monday!
Haha yep, I thought that was kind of funny too.
I really wish they'd bring back Arcane
Arcane, nah. But splice onto ______ is another story.
@@nycstreetpoet I mean, maybe a tribal splice? If you create another category it's just another parasitic mechanic.
I wonder if there a common cards that have a higher impact on non-pauper than on pauper itself
probably most common rituals. pauper doesnt have the cards to abuse rituals like other formats
Duress probably has more total top 8s outside of pauper, mostly because it sees a lot of play in non pauper formats
No joke. Just commenting for the algorithm today.
@@cax1175 it might be bs, but I've heard that saying algorithm in a comment makes it weighted less heavily.
Happy that you're doing it up again sir 👍🏻
I had Whirling Dervish in my deck. It was nicknamed "the lightning rod" because it usually got bolted as soon as it came into play.
Keep it up! Love your stuff, man!
I wonder how many of these cards would be on a top 10 vintage minus power nine list? Zero. That's how many. Hope that is helpful Mr lobster.
Excellent, I was wondering and you answered for me. Thank you!

Guessing strangleroot geist for número 1 not for its power but for how ubiquitous it has been in standard back then and in Modern Yawgmoth
Nailed it! Surprised at how underwhelming a lot of the point totals were
