    As an American, I'm so proud of our law enforcement for ensuring that McIlroy got there in time. The police were paid by the PGA that day to help (not individually - the $ went into the general funding of first responders), and they did. The Ryder Cup should be won on the golf course, not because a kid from Northern Ireland is watching the Golf Channel in Chicago and doesn't realize that tee times are EST, but Chicago is CST. Americans do the right thing, and we did that here.

      All you have to do is put in millions of hours of practice starting at age 4, rise up the golfing ranks as an amateur then professional, survive hundreds of tournaments where sometimes you won, sometimes you lost, and get yourself selected for a Ryder Cup. Piece of cake! :)

    Weird to me that golfers don't get to the club house a couple hours early. All other pro sports show up at least 2-3 hours before showtime

    • @sonicbedhog
      @sonicbedhog 6 лет назад +2

      samxyx they do usually. The whole point of this is that he is running late.

    • @samxyx
      @samxyx 6 лет назад +4

      Yeah but they're saying it's because he wasn't aware he was in a different time zone that was only 1 hour ahead of his normal time. If you plan to get there 2-3 hours early he'd still be on time for tee-time even with this mistake. Basically, it means he shows up to his tournaments less than 1 hour before game time.

      @@samxyx nice explanation

    • @Whoopdido777
      @Whoopdido777 4 года назад

      @@samxyx I don’t think that’s true at all. I mean somebody would actually have to mirror Rory for a while to find out what his normal routine is, but I can’t imagine that he would show up to a major event only 1 hour early. He would need to go to the locker room and change, go the driving range and go through his entire long game routine, then probably go to the chipping/bunker area and work on that and finally putt for awhile. I just don’t see somebody doing all that in 1 hour when they’re playing in The Ryder Cup. Hell, I used to get to the course probably at least 45 minutes before my tee time back when I used to play and I never bothered going to my course’s short game area...it was too far from the clubhouse.

    • @samxyx
      @samxyx 4 года назад +1

      @@Whoopdido777 That's exactly what I was thinking which is why I was so surprised to hear this about Rory showing up late. There was probably some additional circumstance, besides the time zone problem, which was the real reason for his tardiness.

      No, he thought his tee time was 12:25 local time but it was 12:25 eastern time which is 11:25 local time.

    • @orellaminx3530
      @orellaminx3530 6 лет назад

      No I get that. I just can't figure out how he got confused. I imagine the event organizers gave him the proper local time to show up, which only would have required him looking at the clock in his hotel room. They say he got confused by tv announcements which always have two times listed, local and eastern. So he was either getting 11:25/12:25 as an announcement, or 10:25/12:25 and never once actually looked at the clock that was likely next to his bed.

  • @jack4golf247

And it is important in Tournaments because there is limited day light light and if you let them be late, it would quickly get abused.
