    My physiotherapist once angrily asked me why I deadlifted and told me I shouldn't do it. Haven't seen him since. I'd like to be able to pick up my kids and my groceries for the coming years without straining my back.

    Had shoulder and knee problems for years and thought physical therapy was the method to go to for fixing the problem. Then I went to a doctor to get a recommendation to go see a physical therapist. After receiving X-rays on my knee for a tendon issue that the doctor clearly diagnosed visually and physically, I decided that doctors are in it for the money. Seriously, you're going to give an X-ray to someone requesting for a muscle tendon related injury. At least do an MRI.
    Suffice it to say I started to lift heavy and my shoulder problems have gone away. Squating is still a problem for my knee, so I've focused on deadlifts and hang cleans for leg work with zero problems with my knee. I'm actually getting stronger while working around my problems. Going to ease into squats soon.

    There is a gap between physicians and strength programs because of professional domain which is instilled through insurance company's who may be contributors to the collegiate educators and code the medical model. Therefore, when the physician clears a person to enter a training program and said patient injures themself, the physician can rely on the insurance protection of the medical model to put injury blame on the training program. That works fine for the pharmaceutical company. The physician can now prescribe "safe" drugs and psoudo physical therapy. X ray still photos such as x rays cannot detect movement misuse issues. Hence the gap. Your welcome.

    I had an orthopedic surgeon tell me I needed AC surgery (clavicle trim) imminently, and that due to AC arthritis I needed to stop weight lifting all together. I told him no, that I would slow down my rep speeds and turnarounds and keep training. I may as well have been talking in a foreign language to this guy. Within 8 months I was completely healed using 6/6 cadence rather than my usual 3/4.

    • @kendallmcintyre6061
      @kendallmcintyre6061 2 года назад

      Forgive me for randomly responding to an old comment, but I was wondering if you would be willing to spell out your rehab method in layman's terms? I have similar issues with both my ac and sc joints.
      Luckily I can still flat bench without issue, as long as l use a close grip. However, I find it impossible to overhead press, or even a low incline bench without pain, regardless of technique modification. Doing slower reps helped it heal more effectively?

    • @xanthromera
      @xanthromera 2 года назад +1

      @@kendallmcintyre6061 Yes oddly enough I found doing closer grip pressing was less painful than any wide grip work. Actually same goes for rowing and lat pulldowns. Even though I'm completely recovered I still fear doing wide grip work. For years I also used reduced range of motion for all working sets to reduce the work and flexion on the AC's. Also found dips to be the most painful exercise.
      To the question at hand. I was actually told by 2 orthopedic surgeons I would need my AC's cut out. I knew from a friend who had this done that this proceedure is a disaster. I told the second orthopede that I would do what ever it took to heal them without surgery including a) Reducing my weights and doing very slow and fluid movements in higher rep ranges or TUL. b) I would use HGH. c) I would use PRP. d) If necessary I would fork out the money for stem cell therapy. In the end I did the first 3 and didn't need the stem cell therapy which would have cost thousands.
      When training I would do excessive warm ups with very light weights and then all working sets were done slowly with a very reduced range of motion. I remember side laterals were so painful that I was only capable of doing 30 second static holds for about 6 months. The rule was don't do anything that hurts or aggravates the shoulders. I was committed
      I got a script for HGH - growth hormone which I believe was 50+% of the solution. Growth hormone and IGF are responsible for production of all collagen fibers. This stuff is expensive so I ended up also buying black market Chinese stuff. In the end I was using black market MK677 which was a cheap alternative. All told I did this on and off for 3 years to heal several injuries including shitty knees with thin cartilage.
      The 2 rounds of PRP treatments likely did nothing.
      So now 6 years later at 56 years of age scans show my AC's are 100%, not 80% or 90% but 100% healed. Scans on my knees show I have thicker cartilage now than 8 years ago. I still train heavy on some exercises but generally rep ranges are now 12 - 20.
      Happy to answer any more questions.

    • @kendallmcintyre6061
      @kendallmcintyre6061 2 года назад

      @@xanthromera Interesting! So if I were to to apply this to try and ease back into overhead pressing, I should;
      Start with very light weight for slow and smooth reps, and possibly reduce range of motion for the time being? If so, what part of the lift would it be better to cut out (top half or bottom half)?
      Thank you so much for your time!!! I really appreciate it.

    • @xanthromera
      @xanthromera 2 года назад +1

      @@kendallmcintyre6061 Yes for me overhead pressing even on a Hammer Strength machine was very painful. If you must do free weights always use a spotter to keep you out of the hole. I would use a very slow fluid cadence with the middle half range of motion, so stay out of the bottom and top of the range. Personally I would only use machines for the next 3 - 6 months, maybe longer.
      Not sure how you feel about pharmacological assistance but growth hormone can save you from the operating table. If you can't pin HGH daily on and off for months or a year then procure some oral MK677 which does work. This stuff is getting harder to obtain and is often underdosed. There are other GH stimulating peptides like GHRP6, GHRP2 and Ipamorelin which have to be pinned also. I think MK677 is superior at stimulating GH.
      Note that steroid use will not help at all. There is clinical evidence now that steroids interfere with collagen production. It was commonly believed that Deca Durabolin (Nandrolone) helped heal connective tissue but this is likely a fallacy. It may increase synovial fluid in joints slightly which would account for the widely held belief.
      Hope I helped.

    A lot of health care providers don't know squat (no pun intended) about exercise and much more less about weight lifting. If they did know, they would be in favor of it and promote the exercise and if they were the smart ones, they write a prescription for their patient because "exercise IS medicine."

    So on the money about the difference between personal training and coaching. People want complicated and they want gimmicks, those are the attractions. They just don't want to know that simple but hard work is the answer. It's the same with food. They don't want to cook wholesome foods from scratch and put in the effort required. They want fads, marketing, to be part of what's in fashion, fast results etc. etc. It's true the average person has no clue about the benefits of strength training and gym culture won't change either because of the way they make their money from machines and cheap personal trainers.

      It was always designed for YOUNG powerlifters for whom powerlifting was a top 1 or 2 priority in life. It is not aimed at, or even feasible, for most humans, which is why SSCs don't typically recommend it. It was first in PPST so a lot of people assumed it was the best, most general, first to try, etc. SSCs are being more vocal about this, and Dr. GainzZz has criticized it for lacking volume, so that is probably what you are referring to.

      ferna2294 your gp wants you to be 100% free of issues. They can only handle simple stuff with simple, medication-based solutions, often by law. Their other responsibility is to be the bridge between you and a specialist, because that's the only way insurance pays for the specialist. But specilized sport docs with PTs in the facility are your best bet for medical knowledge relating to sport. Don't blame the gp. That's not what they are for. It's like blaming the dmv for wait times when you could have just renewed online.

      " you americans make the mistake of assuming that having guns makes you safer, while it actually is the complete opposite"
      So that fact that all the cities with the strongest gun control have the highest amount of gun violence and the cities that allow open carry and concealed carry heave the least means nothing?
      Anyone who doesn't like the constitution of the United States of America can feel free to leave the country. You won't be missed.

    The guy on the left (sorry, I don't know who he is) spends the first 3 and a half minutes of this video on his G.D. cell phone. He's either really unprofessional or a crack monkey. Really distracting, too.
