I've seen the theory that becoming a vampire doesn't just steal your soul and give you a thirst for blood, but also heightens your greatest flaws. William's flaw was obsession, and that stays consistent. But he's also a romantic, and that stays consistent too.
I have to say that Spike was supposed to be a throw away character when he first appeared. He was supposed to be staked by Buffy and vanish, but Joss liked the character so much that he didn't want him staked. That is how Spike came to become a recurring character on Buffy and Spike is a great character as we see.

Spike has been obsessed with Buffy for a long time. His way of love is very much driven by passion. Plus the way Faith turned him on when she was in Buffy's body ... it just makes perfect sense. As does his reaction: OH GOD NO!
Dawn using the stethoscope was just her way of ignoring the doctor talking. She saw her mom collapse and I imagine it freaked her out. It took me years to figure out that Xander was talking about Riley with the “friend” who was worried. Maybe it’s just because I’m biased towards Buffy (as a tv show) but I think Buffy slapping Spike in this episode is the best slap I’ve seen on tv.
yeah xander's whole "friend" thing was incredibly obtuse and a really strange way of trying to clue buffy in on what riley said. why play games like that? he ought to have found time in the past week to just take buffy aside and tell her straight-up.
Yes, I always took Dawn and the stethoscope as her being VERY worried and overwhelmed with the situation. Interesting how Nick wouldn't interpret it that way.
For way too long I thought Xander was referring to his own previous feelings towards Buffy. But now it seems so obvious that I don't know how I misinterpreted it, since he's clearly talking about what Riley said to him.
It's easy to miss, but Anya's reaction is just funnier when you realize that absolely everyone thinks he's talking about himself but he's actually not. @@Logan_Baron

Thank you! I LOVED this. I think Spike may have an attraction to Buffy because of the passionate chase between them as enemies, but when Faith took over Buffy's body in season 4 he may have began to like her since Faith teased him in that episode. I've never heard Buffy tell Riley that she loves him, and so that may be bothering him. Every time he says he loves her or mentions how much he loves her, she doesn't say it back. She may think her actions show her love, or maybe she is afraid to say the words. I'm not sure. But that does seem to bother him. He should talk to her about that. Anyway, this was great, and you're great! :D Thanks!
That's me, as someone who has watched Buffy from season 1 episode 1 to the season 7 the last episode many times, I love to see his reactions to seeing this for the first time and his thoughts about what he just watched. I won't give any spoilers, just I want to see his reactions to what he's watching. Yes, next episode please. 😁😁😎😎😁😁
The funny thing is the actor who plays Graham, Riley's "friend" who's still in the military in this episode plays a character in an episode of the Bones programme who gets his ass kicked by Booth alias David Boreanaz alias Angel.
Yes! Reactions with Spike would be GOLD. And can I just say I love Graham? I liked him in season 4 and I like this appearance for him, even though the poor guy got hit by both Riley and Harmony. He really does care. And I'm with him on where Riley is in life. Riley was way too clingy this episode because all he has is Buffy. He's lost his own path and purpose and has made Buffy it
exactly. after losing the initiative ( his job and life mission ) and Professor Walsh ( his mother figure ) and his only friends outside of the Scoobies ( one dead and the other still with secret Ops ), he was completely lost and still is. ALL he has is Buffy....but with Buffy, she's lost nothing. she still has her friends, Giles ( her father figure ), her mom ( who is newly possibly dealing with something thats worrisome ), and her slayer duties. To Riley, who only has Buffy, it could feel like she's being pulled away from him in every which way, but if he still had a job and his friends, he wouldn't notice it like that. he's just in serious need of a hobby and his own friends to hang with. its sad he can't at least hang out with Graham like he use to.
Q in Star Trek is a fun recurring character in the various 90's Star Trek shows. He was basically an omnipotent god bouncing around the universe tormenting various species and causing chaos.
Spike's character and his story with Buffy are the most interesting things this show was able to offer me. And both of them officially started now! So Yay!🎉☺️
@@HelloXrancidkitteh both of them that's Spike and his realization that he loves her. Spike was already there and we were waiting only for the second element.
To be fair, Spike admitted he was watching Day Time Soap Operas and watching enough of that kinda tripe is going to make you start thinking in a Days Of Our Lives sorta way.
Excellent reaction and thoughts on this important episode. Glad that you are picking up the "throwaway " lines. With Buffy, there are no more unimportant declarations or lines in this season. Your feelings about looking forward to the next episode is how I felt and still feel about Season 5. Just sit back and enjoy. You are on the roller coaster just before the first dive. Slowly it lurches to the top, pauses. and then the fall followed by twists and turns at a high velocity. This season is truly a ride.
When I saw the ending for the first time I was very confused, because I didn't have my glasses on and when Spike woke up, there was blonde girl in his bed... And of course I thought it was Buffy XD I was watching it on TV so I couldn't stop it and rewatch the last 3 minutes
Another excellent early season 5 episode which amps the drama and creates interest brining up so many questions. No you are not wrong, we all felt it, the need to see the next one to get hopefully some of our questions answered. Welcome to the best season of the show in my humble opinion, it only builds from here.
Yay! Another reaction! Things are just getting started! I'm also so happy harmony is back!! She's the best. I love how one minute she's a big bad and the next she is profusely apologizing for not seeing the no smoking sign. She's so much better as a vampire than a human. ❤ Your reaction to spike's dream was hilarious! I think almost everybody is like 'WTF?!' seeing that for the first time. Lol. I also have that feeling of wanting to watch the next episode right away, even though I've watched season 5 like 30 times. Can't wait for the next reaction! 😊
Riley's right...he wants to be out fighting, and he can't do that as a normal guy in Buffy's world. He's reaching the pretty much the same conclusion that Angel did in I Will Remember You.
Out fighting? You mean the way that Giles & Xander do quite a bit? The way that Willow, Oz, Xander, & Cordy did during Buffy's 2nd summer in L.A.? They may not have been particularly successful, but they survived & Riley has far better training than they did. He's not as strong as he was, but he can still hold his own. Certainly better than Xander whose magically induced pseudo military abilities are gone. I have more arguments than this, but *spoilers*! The deal with Angel is that he asked the oracles if Buffy would survive the impeding apocalypse if he stayed human & they said basically said "no". ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
@@becca1189 exactly. he went back to being a vampire because he thought he'd be risking Buffy's life and the Oracles confirmed his worries. Buffy only had the assumption that it was because he just wanted superpowers again over her, but he corrected her and told her that wasn't the case. with Riley, he just thinks Buffy wouldn't be interested in him anymore if he wasn't superhuman anymore.
I'm not going to talk about Spike since I'm a major and eternal Spuffy shipper😅 But, about Riley Did you notice how he is always throwing balls? I could say it means the courage that he doesn't have and always puts away from him. He really doesn't have "the balls" = courage to step in, to make up his own mind, to decide for himself, to have the initiative (only works for it😅)
One thing to know is that the original casting for Dawn was supposed to be for a ten-year-old girl, but as they do, they cast a bigger net than that. Michelle came in and blew them out of the water. The problem is they adjusted some of the scripts to reflect the age difference, but didn't adjust all of them. Sometimes it was just some scenes in one script but not all of them, which is why Dawn feels like a teen in some scenes and oblivious in others. Dumping cereal to get a prize is something a ten-year-old is more likely to do than a young teen (unless it is really cool). Playing with a doctor's stethoscope instead of paying attention to the conversation is something a ten-year-old would do, but a young teen would have paid more attention, plus, you know, plot device. Michelle is playing it as written. It's just not always written well. I'm not saying all of it is due to that, but it will give you some perspective to add to your thoughts. I was shocked the first time I saw Spike grab Buffy and kiss her and then when Buffy went and kissed him back, I was very confused because I knew Buffy would not cheat on Riley. Despite Riley's insecurities, I still feel Buffy is showing she loves him in this episode. So I was relieved to find out it was a dream sequence, loved how freaked out Spike was by it, and couldn't wait to see how it was going to play out. As far as Riley goes, I do wish Buffy could have stayed with him longer, because you could see the hurt on his face that she had to leave him so quickly to go to her mother. He understood it, you could see that, too, but it still hurt him and made him feel less important. Then he felt like a jerk for that, because it is her mom. And I also think he wanted to go with her to support her, but felt bad he couldn't. The actor was really good at putting emotions on his face. At least, that is what I saw, but I'm good at reading subtleties. He also let Graham get to him, and Riley, before he started doubting, never would have. Graham was a real jerk here, and that ticked me off, because Graham was a better person than that previously. The kind of manipulation he did here was the kind of stuff I would have expected out of Forest, pre showing his true colors, before he got turned into a monster and died. It added to Riley's insecurity of no longer being a superman who could at least help Buffy with her calling, and if not be an equal, be close. That wedge is another reason for him to doubt Buffy, even when Buffy is telling him with her actions and words, by getting him fixed, what he means to her. She can't lose him. He's too important. It's like he doesn't want to see it. Now back to Spike. Are there clues to his feelings about Buffy? I mean, yes, the obsession, as you've said. He first came to Sunnydale for her. He came back to Sunnydale for her. Yes, to kill her, but it's a fine line between love and hate, they say, especially if you are an obsessive. He has the mannequin he put the blonde wig on and the blue camisole, that looked like one Buffy has worn before. Of course than he smashed it, but he does seem to admire her fighting skills, so maybe for him, showing affection with Buffy, is fighting? It's not like he's right in the head? Is any vampire? Even with a soul, Angel's not exactly right in the head. Plus, why is Spike still hanging around in Sunnydale at all? There is no reason for him to be there unless he has a thing for Buffy. I mean, in love with her? That was new, but it sure was fun to see the expression on his face when he woke up! I love the chemistry between James and Sarah, and the kiss was hot, but the storyline has to earn that position for me. If they are going to have that kiss it needs to be after some kind of build up, some relationship building, some caring, a friendship, some yearning, something, not out of the blue because someone had a dream. Unless it is like in Something Blue, where everything goes back to normal after the spell wears off, you know? It shouldn't be easy. It shouldn't be nothing, or because it doesn't matter, because that isn't Buffy. Buffy is light and love, because being in a happy, solid, sane relationship with Riley has healed a lot of what she went through with Angel and Angelus. She might hang out in the darkness, but she doesn't live there anymore. Q is from Next Gen Star Trek and was on at least five of that series of shows, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Lower Decks, and Picard. He is a very popular character. And I wrote you a book full of comments again. But I enjoy your insights and predictions. It's a nice balance against the couple of girls I am watching that are currently doing season five.
Holy crap! I just caught something that I have missed for YEARS and lots of reactions from this episode I missed until now! (Yeah, saw it in the original run on TV.) And I cannot tell you what until you get to the end of this season, when I will likely have forgotten this keen insight. But if I do happen to recall, I will comment then to point out my mental lapse since 2001. But in the interest of not spoiling, shutting up now.
No spoilers, but think of this "sudden" Buffy/Spike attraction idea like this... in Something Blue, Willow's spell said they were getting married, not that they had to snog every second they were together. It's not that sudden.
Just be patient with Season 5. Its all about the journey and the intricately assembled season arc. It's a gorgeous slow burn. I actually think it's Buffy's best. When you look back from the finale, youll see all the little pieces and how they fit.
😂 And this is where the real chaos begins. Aaand it explains a lot, I think. All the 'Oh, I want the slayer dead' yada yada - and just never really seeming to find a way to do more than toy with her, when he'll kill or maim anyone else pretty much thoughtlessly? Helping her out, even reluctantly. Not doing any number if things he could do to hurt her or her friends, or even inconvenience them if he really hated or disliked her as much as he claims. Something Blue when he came out of the spell and only started to show signs of disgust AFTER she did... His response to Faith!Buffy's flirting with him... Yeah. 😅
You’ll find throughout the show that each love interest in Buffy’s life essentially projects their emotional needs, or shortcomings, onto her, and through it all, she finds her way as a resilient, independent character. Riley’s making that classic mistake of thinking because Buffy doesn’t incorporate him into every aspect of her life, ie, live by way of codependency, that she doesn’t love him at all. Each man has told Buffy what she thinks, and feels. I appreciate Angel the most, though, having realized he might essentially rob her of her youth, and that he really needed to find strength on his own terms.
yess this is what bugs me about Riley, telling her how she feels, making assumptions, and thinking that because she hasn't put him on a pedestal or made him the centre of her life then that must mean she doesn't love him. Ugh. AND those times when he can't deal with the fact that she's stronger than him. It's such immature machismo. Blech. When he's not doing those things he can be a lovely, sweet, solid rock of a person. Some folks in these comments assume people don't like Riley because he's "boring" - no, it's because of this macho immaturity.
I do think Buffy loves Riley, but it's definitely a different love than she had with Angel. That was do or die passion, whereas with Riley, I feel like it's a more comfortable love and trust. But I think Riley's in his head about it too much (happens to the best of us) and assuming the worst. What will happen next? You'll just have to see. 😉
@@x-man9473 That's entirely fair, yes. 🙂 But I would also say that after what Buffy's been through, it may take longer for her to say the words. Look what happened with Angel. Then again, Buffy's always been a tiny bit self-involved (see how she was before she became the Slayer, lol), so unfortunately she may not see that she's not being as demonstrative or vocal as she could be. She's focused on slaying and that's about it. 😄 Also, some people just aren't good with saying such things. They may feel it, but not say it. It sucks, especially if you find hearing the words meaningful, but they feel awkward saying it. I don't think that's Buffy in this case though - we saw her say it to Angel and she definitely meant it. But I do think she's perhaps taking Riley for granted as being the stable, dependable boyfriend that he is, and forgetting to tell him that she cares. I do think she cares though, just not in the same way she cared for Angel.
@@sherrysink3177 Eh, she told *Angel* she loved Riley in AtS Sanctuary, when she was angry and felt like getting a dig in at Angel, but has never bothered (or managed, I suppose, depending on your reading) to say it to Riley. To me that's very telling. Personally, I think she cares about him and is satisfied with their relationship at this point in her life, but he'll never be her real priority beyond the point to which she feels like her boyfriend is supposed to be a priority, and there's this fundamental imbalance where he feels like this is The One, and (imo) the main reason she's not just casually dating upfront is because that's not what a Nice Girl should do, in her mind. Also, she was kind of negged and shamed into deciding to formally enter into this relationship in the first place (4x11 Doomed, also some isolated bits in other eps) when maybe she legitimately still wasn't ready for a new serious relationship after the trauma of her last one, and as an 18-19 year old college freshman who's carrying insane responsibilities on her shoulders, afaic that's fair, and Riley can get what he gets for pushing her and calling her "self-involved" when he knew practically nothing of her life. (also ironic because right now he's being pissy about his insecurities even as she's only leaving his side in recovery to make sure her *mother* is okay after a health scare)
There were several hints I to Spike's feeling for Buffy, all the way back to season 2. He was often talking in a very sexualised way to her when threatening her (not saying this is good but he an evil vampire after all). In season 4 he had three major instances that you could read into. "Something blue" as previously mentioned but also in "Superstar", they had him stroke Buffy's face and once again threathening her in a sexualised way. But the biggest part is of course his encounter with Faith in Buffy's body. He seemed... a bit too into her flirting to say the least. Had she not pulled the rug out under him, who was to say he wouldn't actually followed through? And then of course it is the bigger picture of Spike being a sick bastard, using violence and lust interchangeably. BUT also his inability to actually kill (or even have a real desire to kill) Buffy since early season 2. He has access to her house, her dorm, he knows where her friends lives etc. IF he really really wanted to hurt and kill her he would've probably done so by now. When he was introduced he was shown to be very cunning and tactical but these are things he is not anymore. Why? He was also obssessed with killing slayers .Why isn't he trying harder than? Well, something deep inside him seem to not want him to.
Spike didn't have romantic feelings for her officially until season 4. Prior to that, it was the actors playing up the sexual tension between the 2 characters. It's not canon that rhe 2 liked each other in seasons 2 or 3.
@@x-man9473 Well, I guess that depends on how you define canon. No, when it was written it wasn't supposed to lead anything. But later on it seemed they obviously saw something there since it isn't entirerly out of the blue. So it could be intepretated in text that later inspired this revelation although that wasn't the original intention. I'm also not totally sure if they had decided Spike was gonna be in love with Buffy in s4 since it seems they were mostly just testing the water a bit.
I think that Spike being attracted to Buffy makes perfectly senso: we was him and Drusilla and what role violence had in their relationship. Spike is a soulless vampire, he is different from other vampires, he can feel love to some point, but love and violence are in his mind very much alike. He wants to kill Buffy, he is obsessed with her... and of course he love her
As you keep watching season 5, it will all make more sense to you. I'm not going to give you any spoilers. Just keep watching season 5 and you'll see what I mean. Season 5 is one of the better Buffy seasons that I like. Just keep watching, is all I'll say.
I was stunned when Buffy and Spike kissed. Then it's revealed that the kiss is in a dream of Spike's. My response to this revelation was, "Oh, that's WAY more interesting."
You might be on to something there Nick. I think Riley loves Buffy and she loves him, but Riley is that typical man that sometimes has this reptile instinct that you have to protect your woman. So if the woman is powerful, that means, for him, that she doesn't love him. She couldn't, because she doesn't need protection. It's crazy of course, but we still see that today in relationships.
Yep, she loves him. But for some reason, she just can't seem to tell him - or at least she hasn't said the words where we could hear them. She's said a lot of things that imply that she loves him. But versions of "I need you" isn't the same as "I love you." Normally, when someone you love says "I love you" the expected response is "I love you too" or something similar. She doesn't react that way, so whether she loves him or not, he isn't hearing what he needs to hear.
Funny enough when spike could, he could. if you really look back and think about it, most of the fights that Buffy and spike had, spike actually in the end was winning, but then some twist or something happened whether that was friends or family or the situation in general ended up making spike lose not really Buffy herself.
Initially I also thought it made no sense for Spike to love her. But he is soulless and has a very selfish and unhealthy view on love. He is somewhat obsessed with her and he's been attracted to her from their first scene together - him watching her dance in the Bronce. To him that qualifies as love. Without a soul, he's not capable of mature & unselfish love at all.
Despite the fact that I think Buffy put a lot of effort and attention intoxRiley this episode and I think she did a good job trying to communicate how much she cares about him, I will also say this is like the 4th time we've heard Riley tell Buffy he loves her and she doesn't say it back. As for Buffy and Angel. I always felt that Buffy was more dependant on Angel, she's even said that he is the first person she turns to during difficult times. She was open about loving him, to everybody. But can we really compare? Buffy's not the same person she was back then, and so we can't necessarily expect her to treat all her relationships the same. The other thing I like to point out (as a Xander defender) is how Xander is clearly taking what Riley said to him to heart and is having a hard time trying to figure out what to docwith the informstion he has, but he is noticing s problem and trying to help. Also, Anya with the monkeys, OMG how do I miss that on rewatches? Gotta love Anya!
EVERYTHING I TALK ABOUT HAS SPOILERS IN THIS COMMNT I've seen so many people who either don't understand or don't think it's great storytelling how Spike got to the point of waking up at the end of the episode in realization. But when you listen to James Marsters say he played Spike from the beginning as being attracted to Buffy it makes sense from _School Hard_ until now as why things go where they go, and how he got from being a villain to dreaming of kissing her. Spike's soulless. He understands very little of the way he's feeling, but assumes it's love and is in denial about it. The demon in him has his human memories and are therefore warping them and him to think he's in love (the warpness the demon memories create is what he had with Dru). The Buffy and Spike arc from S2-S12 is one of the better arc because the writers never had any long term plans for his character like with every other character at some point. It worked in favor of all the writers. It doesn't always, but I think it did in Spike's case. If Xander wants anyone to understand the “friend” comments he's making (particularly with Buffy), he has to be more blunt, but do so before the implosion that happens in _Into the Woods._ In people defending Xander about _Into the Woods,_ they always bring up this "friends" moment, but also say that it took them years to understand what he was saying. If in-universe characters and fans don't get it Xander's not actually saying what needs said and the communication about it between him and Buffy is not much better than between Riley and Buffy, and therefore bringing things up after the implosion only turns into an _I told you so_ moment while both knot knowing and then not caring what Riley did. Also, Buffy and Riley are listening to themselves talk when it comes to the relationship parts of their argument in this episode while in the cave. They're not listening to each other. It's lucky Buffy got through to him about some things, but there's a reason it didn't fix their relationship.
Nah. His character arc was great. His romance was Buffy was poorly executed. That whole "I'm gonna kill Buffy", but fail to do it each time shtick got old after 2 seasons. We don't need 6 straight seasons of Spike trying and failing to kill Buffy. That's a lame villain story.
Harmony is definitely a good side character. I’m glad they made her into a vampire
Agreed! As a regular character, she was just your basic mean girl and I couldn't stand her. But as a vampire? She's hilarious.
I think she might actually be one of the only characters to ever have a bigger and better role in a show after getting killed off.

@@Logan_Baron
yeah I initially thought he was referring to the hyena possession, but like I also don't care about Riley as a character, certain Buffyverse things my brain just rejects
"The revelations this season are, just.... they keep coming...."
Oh, you sweet Summer child...
"I need to see the next episode and see what happens next. Does anyone else get that feeling?" Are you kidding?? We're all going out of our skin waiting for you to devour this season ASAP!
:D Thanks!
I'm officially obsessed with re-living Buffy for the first time through your reactions!!! Next episode please 😁
He's lost his own path and purpose and has made Buffy it
I never liked Forest though. Well a little at first when he was helping Riley sort his feelings for Buffy, but then he got all jealous and stuff.
honestly I think Graham would've been good with Buffy lol
I never even considered that. But you're right!

exactly. after losing the initiative ( his job and life mission ) and Professor Walsh ( his mother figure ) and his only friends outside of the Scoobies ( one dead and the other still with secret Ops ), he was completely lost and still is.
Q is Awesome you should just watch Q episodes even if you don't watch any other Star Trek. He's in TNG, Deep Space 9, and Voyager.
Oh and Picard!
i love that spike falls for buffy. its hilarious.
Yeah the direction they took with Spikes character at the end of this ep was the best decision this show ever made imo
that and chipping him in the first place! it was such a good way to integrate a fan favorite "villain" character into the main cast

Spike's character and his story with Buffy are the most interesting things this show was able to offer me. And both of them officially started now! So Yay!🎉☺️
what do you mean "both of them"? Spike only just realized he likes Buffy. Buffy doesn't know and is with Riley.
( also, careful of spoilers! )
@@HelloXrancidkitteh both of them that's Spike and his realization that he loves her. Spike was already there and we were waiting only for the second element.
Nick?... 😂 Who are you and what have you done with the god of thunder?!
Buffy is like 144 movies. Or maybe like 72, 82-minute movies. We're not really sure.
Your reaction to spike's dream was hilarious!
The no smoking sign 🚭 is probably my favorite Buffy Funny 😆
I love this season so much ❤️ Nice reaction and commentary as always!
I'm not going to talk about Spike since I'm a major and eternal Spuffy shipper😅
But, about Riley
Did you notice how he is always throwing balls?
He's played by the wonderful John de Lancie and is an all powerful, very dangerous, sometimes malevolent, quite often bored, interdimensional douche bag who can be quite hilarious and on occasion charming. He is a very popular character.
And I wrote you a book full of comments again. But I enjoy your insights and predictions. It's a nice balance against the couple of girls I am watching that are currently doing season five.
This is gonna be great!
ImO, there are a number of clues that Spike wanted Buffy, at least on a physical level.
Oh my GOD, I want a Spike reaction channel. Why is that such an immensly good Idea???
I don't think Buffy was ever truly in love with Riley.
No spoilers, but think of this "sudden" Buffy/Spike attraction idea like this... in Something Blue, Willow's spell said they were getting married, not that they had to snog every second they were together. It's not that sudden.
I think your analysis of Riley is the most accurate to date. Relating his state of mind to "When She Was Bad" was a good tie-in.
And...here...we...go.
Spike's been obsessed with Buffy for years, so it's not really the biggest shock. 😅
The next episode of this show is my favorite of the entire series. I look forward to rewatching it with ya
All i gotta say is strap in because the ride is about to get wild!!!
"I didn't know there was a Q from Star Trek."

How about some TNG reactions? 😆
I agree, would be a great run for him.
Been waiting for you to get to this episode!!!!!!!
you didnt know there was a Q from star trek?! oh...you are missing out.
Just be patient with Season 5. Its all about the journey and the intricately assembled season arc. It's a gorgeous slow burn. I actually think it's Buffy's best. When you look back from the finale, youll see all the little pieces and how they fit.
spike just got operated by doctor house!
Spike and Buffy as a couple? Thats just ridiculous to think about!
HArmony is my favorite 'villain'. lol
Yeah. 😅
I’m so excited for the next episode. All I’ve been thinking about this whole reaction is…
Ahhh she’s here! 😆
1:06 🙊 would answer this, but the comment section will be under check this season
If someone loves you it shouldn't be hard to say it. She hasn't said the words to him once. And they've been together for over a year.
Also, some people just aren't good with saying such things.
(also ironic because right now he's being pissy about his insecurities even as she's only leaving his side in recovery to make sure her *mother* is okay after a health scare)
yeah that season 2 episode with dawn
He wants to kill Buffy, he is obsessed with her... and of course he love her
omg, you need to instantly start watching Star Trek The Next Generation. Q is one of the greatest "villians" ever!!!!
Omg yay!!! Spike 🖤
BASIC-ASS LAB riley... poor guy.. did an excellent judo throw in this episode though
As you keep watching season 5, it will all make more sense to you. I'm not going to give you any spoilers. Just keep watching season 5 and you'll see what I mean. Season 5 is one of the better Buffy seasons that I like. Just keep watching, is all I'll say.
i always did like Riley as a character... though i did agree he and Buffy weren't really compatible

Something crazy happened on Buffy?
Must be Tuesday..
I was stunned when Buffy and Spike kissed.
Then it's revealed that the kiss is in a dream of Spike's.
My response to this revelation was, "Oh, that's WAY more interesting."
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192exactly what I was going to say!😂😂
You might be on to something there Nick. I think Riley loves Buffy and she loves him, but Riley is that typical man that sometimes has this reptile instinct that you have to protect your woman. So if the woman is powerful, that means, for him, that she doesn't love him. She couldn't, because she doesn't need protection.
It's crazy of course, but we still see that today in relationships.
The romcom tension trope is not new. We saw that with Xander and Cordelia.
Buffy has never said "I love you" to Riley so I tend to think he is right that she does not love him no matter what else she says
She does love him, and shows him all the time. It isn’t the way he wants it, and that’s why he’s so pissy.
"Give them a spinoff show": Keeping Up with the Vampires?
My takeaway so far… please watch star trek next generation! Keep in mind like other shows season 1 isn’t very good lol.
Since when.. wel 1998 😊
Buffy does love him. But he wants her to act in a certain way & when he doesn’t get what he wants, he pouts.

Why is the channel now not Thor reacts?
Rebranding?
Yes, for weeks now ;)
EVERYTHING I TALK ABOUT HAS SPOILERS IN THIS COMMNT
I've seen so many people who either don't understand or don't think it's great storytelling how Spike got to the point of waking up at the end of the episode in realization.
I still think you should switch to 2 episodes at a time
NO!
compromise: shove two _angel_ into each video so that single episode _buffy_ reactions can come out more often.
the moment they destroy spikes caracter for good from potentialy greatest tv vilain to this love sick puppy clown caracter
Agree. Hated this Spike arc.
Nah. His character arc was great. His romance was Buffy was poorly executed.
That whole "I'm gonna kill Buffy", but fail to do it each time shtick got old after 2 seasons. We don't need 6 straight seasons of Spike trying and failing to kill Buffy. That's a lame villain story.
I like the arc but this passage is ugh 🤣
